Did a few visits here off of a Groupon for spray tanning, and have never had better service. I only worked with the owner, Matt, to get my color right for a photo shoot, and he went above and beyond in every regard. Acted like I was dropping $100 every time I came in instead of the usual cheap treatment a lot of places give people with Groupons. Gave me some advice on how to clear up some nasty acne on my face that even a dermatologist couldn't help with, cleared it up completely in a week. Great place and highly recommended. read more

I honestly first went to HSBTS bc I bought a groupon for a month of unlimited tanning to prepare for a vacation to Cancun. I was pleasently suprised the moment I walked into the store. Very friendly staff- It isn't common to feel like you've known the owner of a store (Matt you rock!) your whole life on your first visit. The staff made sure I used the right bed for the right amount of time based on my skin type. A FANTASTIC tanning salon! You walk in and the owner Matt is super welcoming and makes you want to come back for him alone. LOVE this place. Everyone that works there is awesome, super helpful and hilarious. I've been to quite a few tanning salons where workers are rude, snobby people and charge way too much for tans. This is not the case here! I only do Tanning beds and the red light, but I've also heard good things about their spray tans and other services. If you have a question about anything( tans, beds, lotions, sprays, wrinkles, red light, sex, whaaaatever) they will answer it and the answer will be helpful and probably hilarious. I went in for a facial only because I had bought one from Groupon or I'd have never heard of this salon. From the outside and inside, and their name come to think of it, it appears to be a tanning salon; period. That they are, and I don't tan, so why go in? Well, go in for the facials people. My Groupon was for an anti aging facial and it was incredible. Matt did my facial and his bed side manner is tops. He explained every step before the facial began, and left me to relax during the facial. I should say "facial". There were foot and leg rubs, a shoulder massage, arm and hand attention...it was never ending. I could see a change immediately. My skin is plump and flush and feels like silk. He said it's from the Vitamin A or B or something. Whatever he did it worked and I'll definitely be back. read more

Had to wait awhile for the one worker there to assist me (he was back and forth doing a lot of other things). After that, he (Brian?) was incredibly helpful. I just moved to the area and though I tanned a lot before, I wasn't sure how the caliber/strength/minutes would translate to these beds. He asked a lot of questions and got me set up with a package just right for me. I was a first tanner and had been to many tanning salons and asked question about using tanning beds before my wedding they all treated me like I was a complete idiot. I stumbled upon this place and honestly have never been happier that I did. I usually come in right at opening and the same guy has helped me and I wanted to let management know he is the reason I came back. He answered all of my question made me feel comfortable. I went here for the first time recently and it was awesome! Not only is Matt great at spray tanning...he's just plain cool. It was raining and he walked me home with his own umbrella as to not ruin my tan. You don't see that kind of service many places. Worst waxing experience I have ever had. I called in to see if they had any openings around 10:00am. They said they could work me in, so I told them I would hurry over. I arrived at 10:15am and my esthetician wasn't there (he ran to the bank). I filled out paperwork and waited patiently. When he arrived he ushered me to the room and made a comment about how I did not come quickly enough. I told him I was sorry and had to walk from my house, and that I appreciated his flexibility. He then responded that I was "just cutting into his work-out time", and how would I feel if "he was cutting into my personal time?". I told him he did not have to make the appointment and that I would leave (which I did), and he responded "come on" and "now I'm not going to work out anyway". Horribly awkward and rude. Would never let someone who was angry at me for "cutting into personal time" even come close to giving me a brazilian wax. Will never return to this place again, which is a shame because their tanning seems great. read more

Historically, I have never big a big fan of tanning. I like being tan in the summertime but I'm not someone who would tan on a regular basis. However, right now, I am almost 7 months pregnant and very pale and was dying for just a little color in my life. I searched online for Chicago tanning salons that used organic spray tans and found this gem. I spoke to a gentlemen the first time I called and he assured me that they had worked with countless pregnant and / or breast feeding women and they had a great product that was organic and preservative free that is perfectly safe for Mom and baby. I went and had the classic spray yesterday and am SO happy with the end result. No orange hue AT ALL. Just a perfect light golden glow that I was hoping for. I just started tanning here to get a head start for my vacation in a month, and I've had a great experience so far. It's nothing fancy as far as the equipment or decor, just your basic run-of-the mill tanning salon, with the exception of the staff. The staff is so far out of the ordinary, and I love them for it. Most of the tanning salon's I've been to are run by a bunch of 20-something girls with bad attitudes and tans to match. So far the guys who have helped me have been super friendly and easy-going. The only reason I give them a 4 is because the stereo's in the beds don't seem to work, and I can't really hear the regular one over the noise. I would like to have some tune-age to help me pretend I'm on the beach already ;-) read more

I am, by nature, a pale person, so they were able to give me a plan or sorts so I would not burn. The staff here is very welcoming and helpful. My first time here the attendant took time to help me figure out which of the many options was my best choice, versus at LA tan where I was sold a session that was too strong for my skin tone. (Sunburn!!!) The product they use for the spray tans is wonderful. There is no orange effect and it is completely natural and actually good for your skin. I have to admit that having a stranger spray me down ( I opt for no tan lines) was a little weird at first, but it's much easier than dealing with the automated booths. I appreciate the level of professionalism exhibited here and I recommend this establishment over any chain type tanning spa, hands down. read more

About a month ago, I visited Halsted Street Beach Tanning Salon for a sunless spray tan and I have already returned for another. I'm hooked!! This place is excellent all around!!! Matt is fabulously funny, knowledgeable, friendly and caring. He was more concerned about my satisfaction in his service than his business making a quick buck. LOVE LOVE the boys at Halsted Street Beach Tanning salon. They were more than welcoming when I came in. I bought the you swoop for a spray tan for a wedding I had this past weekend. The limit was 3, and I wish I would have bought them all! But I will be more than willing to pay full price for their service!! The tan was tan, not orange at all.
