It took me WAAAAY too long to finally try Hambones. What have I been sleepin on?! Put some signs on the doors that aren't active maybe with some arrows or something. I was lost! But when I called the girl who answered was super friendly and offered to come out & get me. She never once seemed annoyed bout it. Appreciate that! As you can see, I got it all. Lol. Everything was superb. BBQ sauce was super flavorful. The peach cobbler was oooweee good. That cinnamon flavor was chefs kiss. The banana pudding? Best I've ever had fr fr. Only thing that was kinda meh for me was the cornbread. Good texture but just wasn't sweet like I personally prefer. Mixed it with the meat n bbq sauce, boom problem solved. I can't rate them on the food because I didn't get a chance to taste it. I have never had Hambone before but was told it was really good. I can say that I am not happy with the customer service, I drove in the rain for an hour to get there calling all way. When I got there I watched the young lady ignore the phone when not picking it up then hang it up multiple times during the 30 minutes I stood there. They kept coming out of the kitchen saying we'll be with you in a minute. The young lady finally came out and asked if she could help me; when I to told her what I wanted to order, she told me that they were closed; I asked why would they let me stand there ALL THAT TIME and if I could place one item. This is hands down one of the best barbecue spots (sauce) I've ever had and I enjoy, me some que! I've known about this place for a few years, my sister's and my brother seem to go into a trance whenever they talk about this place; they live near by, whereas I'm about 45 minutes away. One evening, after hanging out with my sisters all day, we were famished and of course this was their opportunity to take me to their leader "Hambones" (ha). We opted to eat in the dining area and when I tell you we grubbed and left no evidence behind, trust! Our plates where white as snow (ha)! We even ordered more to go. I then asked the server, do you sell the sauce? They said yes, and now I am apart of the Hambones Cult. My sister went the other day, and of course she called to ask, do you want anything? Me: most definitely! The sauce please!!! I suggested to the owner, to please put your sauce, your mac & cheese​ and your rib tips in the markets. I'll be honest; I've only been to Bellflower once, this past Friday. The baby back ribs and brisket tasted exactly how I remembered it. I was a Huntington Beach customer. My husband and I used to order from Hambones at least once a week. Every Thanksgiving, we ordered our meal from Hambones. Who wants a traditional Thanksgiving meal, when you can have Hambones bbq! We were so disappointed when the Huntington Beach location closed. I've never tasted bbq like Hambones. More people need to know about this bbq restaurant. I guarantee that these people will thank me. When Hambones closed in HB, reluctantly, we had gone to another bbq restaurant. The other bbq restaurant didn't even come close to Hambones! We came in on a saturday evening and it wasn't busy. We stood in front waited to be seated and there was no service around. We stood for a solid 5 minutes until a women sat us. We asked her how she was doing to be friendly and she sighed and said she was tired. You can tell she didn't want to work. We ordered drinks right away and she left to the back. Aside from her, we had not seen any workers. We waited and she never returned when all we ordered were waters and a kids lemonade. Horrible service. read more

If I could award a zero (0), I would. What a nightmare of an experience which is disappointing as the food is typically delicious. Yesterday, 8/24/25, I arrived at the Hambone location in Bellflower around 5:00 PM. There were three (3) tables seated, When I came in, I stood by the door as I did not know if I was to wait. The young woman popped up through the back (without coming out) and I said we are a party of six (6), can I select the table. She asked if dining in? I replied 'Yes. Would you like us to sit at the large table or go to a table further back?' She rolled her eyes and said 'Go to a table further back.' I should have known it was going to go downhill. I went to the table and waited for my party to walk in from the parking lot. Typically there is a wait, so it was a surprise not to a) see a wait and b) that it was relatively empty from the other seven (7) guests - table of 2, 3, and 2. She brought 3 menus and 3 place settings. We asked for additional menus. She brought the menus.. and we waited.... And we waited.... And we waited. She finally came back TWENTY MINUTES LATER to take our order. Due to the wait, we placed our drinks and food order together! We placed the order including 6 waters, 2 diet sodas, and 1 raspberry tea. We were sharing 2 meals, so we had 4 main entrees and a four (4) XL sides. And we waited.... And waited... And waited. I noticed that the other tables were struggling, one getting their bill and the other two getting their food. Well, we waited another 10 minutes, and I asked if we could get our drinks as we were now THIRTY MINUTES in waiting! Also, where I was siting, it was easy to see through the dining room and kitchen, and she was just having a kiki with someone in the kitchen. When she came out again, She totally sniped out us, 'Can I get a minute?' To which I responded, 'Well, it has been 30 minutes so I was just curious how much time was reasonable to wait?'. A few minutes later she came out with TWO WATERS and as she put them on the tables, 'how many waters do you need?' To which I responded, Well, like we said when we placed our order, we ordered 6 waters, 2 diet sodas, and 1 raspberry tea.' Bottom-line, after 45 minutes we told her we were not waiting and walked out and went to Rokka on the corner. Now talk about a restaurant that knows service and had amazing food! Ashlyn at Rokka was night and day of the 'I do not really care about you, you being here, or as a customer of Hambone' that we experienced at Hambone. Absolutely outrageous! She needs to be completely retrained or terminated! I will struggle with going back to this restaurant any time soon! Absolutely would NOT recommend. So, we opted for the No. 12 Baby Back Full Rack, with 3 large sides, 4 cornbread Upcharge. $48.51 Cash, Full Stop. Words cannot describe our dismay in the decline in quality & taste of BBQ staples. Ribs were tasty, yet dry, greens were salty, blackeye peas were 50% liquid & so-so (salty), and the cornbread was mediocre. The mac & cheese shined like sun. The staff was great!!! In the future we will pay with a credit card so maybe we could recover our money. Please note the money is not the issue. This review simply reflects pure disappointment in the decline of an outstanding eatery we enjoyed with family & friends. Note to all. Ordered lunch here on a Monday. I pull up to the front of the establishment and walk in. There are no signs anywhere that direct people to the behind the store for mobile orders, but for a small sign in the back door. I walk to the pick up area, and after waiting for someone to say hi, someone comes and asks how they can help. They tell me ten more minutes. Finally my food is ready. I see the stuff in the counter and I ask "is this everything" they respond yes. I open the aluminum tray, thinking the sides were in there. They were not. They forgot to pack my side. I can't say enough good things about Hambones BBQ! The food is always top-notch, delicious baked beans, creamy mac & cheese, and incredible baby back ribs. All of the sauces are great, but my personal favorite is the tangy one. I recently had them cater my daughter's baby shower, and the food was absolutely amazing. We had baby back ribs, pulled pork, and brisket, and all 60 guests had nothing but great things to say. Everyone loved the food, and there was plenty to go around I even had extra for people to take home! The owner, Keenan, was professional, punctual, and extremely generous. He even offered to leave his warmers in case we needed them, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Fortunately, the venue had stove warmers, but I truly appreciated the extra effort he made to ensure everything went smoothly. The pricing was very reasonable for the amount of food we received, and it was worth every penny. Our cowgirl-themed baby shower was the perfect occasion for some amazing BBQ, and I will definitely be using Hambones BBQ for future events. 10/10 recommend! read more

At approx. 12:30 (1 hr wait so far), I was told there was no tri-tip which impacted 3 of my orders. I was also told that there were no mashed potatoes. After having to change up my orders, I finally received my order at 12:45 (1 hr 15 min wait). I find it hard to believe that when I ordered, the staff did not know the restaurant was out of tri-tip to begin with. The restaurant was not that busy at that point. It's a no. I visited Hambones Bellflower for the 1st time about 4-5 years ago and enjoyed the food. I would go back periodically for BBQ. I discovered they had a Huntington Beach location (which is now closed) but after trying that restaurant I enjoyed it more because the food tasted better. For Memorial Day weekend I decided to give Bellflower another go- mistake. I ordered two 3 plate combos which are $22 each. Sadly you cannot double up on meat- every one of your selections must be different, as well as with the sides. I got brisket (I asked for the more tender fatty pieces), baby back ribs, hot link, Mac and cheese and candied yams. My husband got the same meats and candied yams but opted for potato salad over macaroni and cheese. First off- the portions are disappointing: one split hot link, two small ribs, and two small pieces of brisket (one piece chopped too thick and another one chopped extremely thin)- I got all my Meats dry, which I always do with BBQ. Sauce should complement the meat and be optional not a necessity. All the meats had a good smoky flavor which is nice but that is where the good ends- the meat lacked spices and flavor and was tough, chewy, and dry. Hambone's meat needs bbq sauce and when meat needs sauce that tells you something- you have to cover something up because you can't hit that meat without it. The potato salad was more like a beyond basic egg salad, macaroni and cheese was flavorless and watery. The candied yams were the best thing in the whole meal with the right sweetness and tenderness. Save your time and money to avoid disappointment. The last thing I like to do is put a business down but something needs to be done for improvement purposes. More recently my tried and true BBQ is Kitchens Corner in Compton, they don't have a brick and mortar yet, and is a bbq street vendor so there can be a line but it is definitely worth the hype and price. read more

Walked inside today and was immediately hit with a horrible smell of the bathroom I almost decided to not get my food. They no longer serve cornbread which is disappointing because that was the best part. What really makes me give them a bad rating is a few of their employees are very rude. They are rude on the phone and in person it doesn't feel as welcoming and takes the joy out of coming here to eat. Soul food hit the spot! It was so good! I came with a big family, and they were able to accommodate us! We ordered so much food, and gosh, our waiter did such a good job. Our waitress, Nia, was very attentive and helpful as we were all very indecisive and didn't know what to pick. I got a couple of things! I really liked the Mac and cheese, loaded fries, and the strawberry ice cream was actually my favorite. I initially thought hmmm, these prices are a bit pricey, but you actually get really good portions so worth it. All the food was yummy. It is hard to knock Hambone's because they deliver on food quality and taste. There are few things that can compare to the taste and aroma of wood grilled meats. The barbecue sauce was just right as well: hickory based, not too heavy or sweet. If there is a complaint, it is a minor one. The prices are a bit steep. For what you pay, the food quantity should justify it. Fortunately, I only had to order for two people this evening. The Twosie included two meat choices, two sides and one piece of either cornbread or dinner roll. Including two drinks, it will set you back $42. The Twosie dinner was just enough to satisfy two people. If I was ordering for more than that, it would have put me out of my price range. I did enjoy my meal and was happy with my choices: beef tri-tip, baby back ribs, collard greens, black eyed peas and that one piece of cornbread. I felt, however, we could have got more for what I paid. Never have I been to a barbecue grill where they were so skimpy on the portions. Very good meats and sides but nothing spectacular. I had chicken, pork ribs and beef ribs with greens and baked beans. The meat was flavorless and my chicken taste like it was on the tip of spoiling. The ribs both kinds were tough and flavorless, it did not taste like a bbq pitt at all. The Greens taste like water, no flavor at all, I litteraly spit them out, and the baked beans taste like a can with extra sugar. This place is Offal.
