This place looks really cool, great design with an outdoor feel to it. They have a good selection of drinks and a few local beers on tap. You can have a seat anywhere that open and you have to order your drinks at the bar. The drinks were good, but the Service was really slow. Took a while just to get someone to acknowledge that I was there. There's 4 people working behind the bar, two of them were making drinks one was just talking and another just running around. After I finally got the chance to order, I was looking around the bar and noticed how dirty and dusty everything was. There was dust slowly falling down from just about everything that was hanging above the bar. All that stuff is ending up on everything below, bottles of liquor and everything they use to make your drinks! Cutest bar I've been to in a while, located inside Anaheim Packing District. Their bartenders are skilled in mixology and make amazing drinks!! Very tasty and not too strong but definitely does the trick. I tried the basic b**** and my bf got the Moscow mule. Both were equally as good. We both ordered Hangar 7s, a white Belgian type beer from KC ($7). The beers were light & refreshing on a hot summer night. The price was much less than a Chimay which it tastes similar to: 4 Stars. The bartenders are super nice and let us taste the beer before we bought. I also noticed they were polite to all the other patrons: 4 Stars. The ambiance is cool w/ the little whimsical hammer sign: 4 Stars. The only downside is they don't serve food. However, you can bring your food from several eateries, but I don't know how practical it is. Located in Anaheim packing district in the center on the top floor of the building. A very small bar but somewhat decent on seating consider its in the middle of everything in the building. They have a great selection of freshly made from Scratch cocktails. Service was pretty quick on a Saturday night and every seat taken. They have a little display case at the bar where you can buy bottle openers that look like tools. I feel the pricing is fair considering this isn't you average cocktail from a bottle. But it's hard to hear as it's noisy and talking is more like yelling. I wish this place had another location just because it's so awesome. Third, the drinks they didn't technically mess up, they skimped on. My Old Fashion was literally 1/4 of the glass filled WITH ice. WTF? $12 for a shot of Whiskey + Ice? Wow. My GF ordered a Royal Hawaiian. I was watching the bartender shake and mix the cocktail and once he popped open the cocktail shaker, a shitton of booze was spilled all over his arm. What did he do? I'm at the Packing District, where can I get a drink in this place? Chippy has beers, Iron Press has beers, Kettlebar has beers, but where can I get a cocktail? There's the Blind Rabbit Speakeasy, but you can't even get in on the weekends without a reservation. That leaves Hammer Workshop and Bar. Hammer is that thing staring you straight in the face when you walk up the stairs to the 2nd floor. The vintage tools hanging, the tractor seat stools that could make a girl happy if it had batteries in it, metal tool boxes that hold snacks, it's the best place in the building to people watch. I have had a few drinks here and haven't run across any bad ones, but the one I like the most so far is the Lion's Tail. It's like a whiskey sour. They start it off right by using Buffalo Trace Bourbon, mix in some Old Spice Dram, Angostura Bitters, simple syrup and there you go. It's just right and even girl approved (at least by my friends that were sneaking sips). The bar can get busy but if you just go up right up to the bar they will get to you quick enough. They do have a beer and cocktail menu so you'll want to check that out as a few of the cocktails are seasonal. They can do you classic cocktails or if you are unsure of what to get but know your favorite poison, they can custom make a drink for you. Just say the words and wave a wand... Bourbon... Poof! Tequila... Poof! Gin... Poof! Cachaca... Poof. Mexican Coke and a Luxardo Cherry on the side... They can do that too. I haven't seen the bartenders talk that much here, but the crowd in the area is somewhat social, more so than your typical OC crowd. There's a mix of college age hipsters, people on their first online dates, middle age adults, and many locals but also some business travelers that ventured off the Disneyland/Anaheim Convention Center path. I was not very impressed with hammer and workshop. The service from our female bartender was ok but the male bar back rubbed me the wrong way. More to come on that. The drinks were ok, nothing fabulous. The food was meh, but what was I expecting from bar food right? I was expecting it to be good, half decent at least, that's what I was expecting. I tried the Killer Queen cocktail. It was made with ghost chili. It was spicy like I anticipated, but that's it. Spicy but without any other real flavor. Would I order it again? No. Would I recommend it? Only to someone who really wanted to drink something spicy for spiciness sake. Now, the bar back. He brought us water and some of was spilled onto the counter where my CHANEL purse was resting. I realized what happened and picked my purse up and looked up at him to which he says that I might want to move my purse. As water is soaking into my leather, I asked him for a napkin. To that he answers, "oh, napkins. Not sure if we have any, let me check" and he was saying something after that but u tuned him out. You don't think you have napkins at the bar? Really? Omg. I almost went livid into restaurant manager mode. But before i could say anything, he brought some napkins for me. Since it was my friend's birthday, I did not make an issue of this and kept the celebration going. And then the food came. Really late. But whatever, I get it, it's the weekend, the place is packed. We ordered sliders, pretzels, and crabcakes. The flavor of the crabcakes were ok, but it sort of didn't have a flaky texture, it was more rubbery. The pretzels were overcooked and hard. Kind of tough to eat. I didn't even bother with the slider. For a place that screams potential, it was not very impressive. Been to the packing house a few times and always was curious to check this place out. My 2 star review got bumped to a 3 star because the 2 drinks my friends had were good. Located on the second floor at the top of the stairs, the Hammer Bar is an easy meetup spot for first timers. I've been here plenty of times to start the night and sometimes ending the night here as well. The cocktails are a bit pricey at an upward cost of $10, but I do appreciate their craftsmanship in mixology. I usually go with dealer's choice and have yet to been steered wrong. My choice of poison is whiskey and I must say, the lion's tail is a great whiskey cocktail with spiced aromas of all spice and cinnamon. I've also gotten the Rabbit Redux, a carrot/ginger juice base served with candied ginger. Not in the mood for cocktails? They also have beer/wine that you can ask to be served or transferred to a plastic cup if you want to walk around, especially when the bar starts to fill up. I have been a few times when they rope off the bar for crowd control. I find it unnecessary, but I guess it helps the bartenders keep their cool or maintain the hip environment. Whatever, it doesn't stop the drunks from drinking more when they should have stopped 2 glasses ago before they ended up on the floor. Fun place to hang out, our seat actually faced the huge projector with the basketball game on, so we ended up staying for the whole game and ended up trying a few of their cocktails. We avoided ordering beer as it was $10 a pint, may as well have a cocktail instead which were around $12-13 and well crafted. The Hammer House Julep and Highway 62 were my favourite cocktails I tried that evening. Two I wouldn't order again would be the Government Shutdown - the combination of the carrot, lime and ginger in a cocktail just didn't work in my opinion. The bartenders will take your order as soon as they are available and they are very fast with making your drink efficiently! It is a small area so get there early if you have a bigger party! One of my favorite bars in the area! They have amazing cocktails, especially their mules since they make their own ginger beer. The London Mule is deliciously refreshing and the Oaxaca Mule has great spice to it. I truly love this bar. My "he doesn't have a label" and I ordered some grilled cheese sandwiches at Black Sheep GCB. We were told we could take our pager over to the bar area after expressing our desire for some libations. I have been wanting to try a Moscow Mule for awhile now, so we grabbed seats at the bar. While not catching their names, all of the bartenders were social and knowledgeable. I got mine with Rum. The ginger and lime were strong for me, but I enjoyed the crushed ice in it and the buzz I had going nearly 3/4's in. To the owner of Hammer Bar: I've been a fan of this bar and your bartenders until a recent incident with the manger. Our group was incredibly shocked at how rude the manager, Casey or KC, came yelling at us to "Get the F out of my bar!" after being upset because we didn't tip more. We tipped 18% tip of our total tab and cash tips on the side to the actual bartenders who were serving our drinks. It is unprofessional to take out their internal frustrations with running a business out on clientele. The manager did not have to make a scene, and others outside of our group tried to defend us. I am sure this was a misunderstanding and if the manager had some points to make, he could have done so with a professional demeanor. As a result, I am going to dispute the tip with my credit card. Those who saw that incident left with a bad taste in their mouth, and it wasn't because of the drinks. You'll hear the manager's version who's looking out for his best interests and a client who's been there since day one. Very disappointed! read more

Such a cute and cool location inside the Packing House, that is decorated really cool with old tools and a grungy, yet upscale feel. I have been here a few times now, and every time I have enjoyed delicious drinks with great quality alcohol. The menu cocktails are all good too! I remember coming to Hammer Bar back when Packing House first opened, and it was a rather disappointing experience - the cocktails were lackluster, and the service was even worse. So I was pretty hesitant to come back years later, but I'm so glad I did. The cocktails my girlfriend and I ordered were delicious and strong, and although the bartenders didn't check on us as much as I would've liked (they were continuously chatting with one party at the bar), they were friendly and nice enough. Since Blind Rabbit is always a pain to get into and reservations are hard to come by, I'm glad to have found a good replacement in the same proximity. The cocktails I tried are... Highway 62 ($12) - tequila blanco, orchard pear liqueur, agave, lime, creme de violette, celery bitters; This came with cute lavender flowers in it - it would be a great choice if you like drinks that are mildly sweet and floral/fruity, but don't want something that's syrupy or overwhelmingly sweet. El Luchador ($12) - hibiscus mezcal, curacao, zwack liqueur, agave, lemon; I was wary when I saw curacao as an ingredient, because I still associate that with the revolting bright-blue AMFs I used to chug in college. But I actually loved this drink - it was smoky, rich, and almost savory but somehow sweet in a way that really worked. If you're looking for something different, get this. read more

Hi! This was the first place my husband and I tried when we went to the Anaheim Packing District for the first time. The service is great and all the bartender's are attentive and informative. My husband wasn't feeling too well and asked for something that might help. The bartender recommended the Penicillin and now my husband gets it every time we come here! I like to try new things so I asked for something sweet with a cherry on top (they carry those delicious, expensive maraschino cherries. NOT the bright red cheap ones). He wasn't paying attention to one particular group - he was just making drinks, serving them up and came around when i needed a refill. (isn't that what it's all about) at least for guys i would think. I had the Old Fashioned - it was good not to sweet and he wasn't stingy with the booze. My significant other has the Breakfast of champions although i am not sure what was in it exactly (although she drank it up pretty fast) and i am pretty sure she enjoyed it.
