I love Han Dynasty, so much that I drove to their LIC location where there is no parking available mid-day. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was not what it used to be. I've been there several times and the food has always been fantastic. This time I went right after lunch ended, and the quality was disappointing. I get that with rising prices, restaurants are forced to cut corners, but the food just isn't what it used to be. For example, the chicken with peppers used to be more uniform and smaller. Now they are bigger with more fillers and it becomes hard to even taste the chicken. The pork buns were extremely dry and hard - I sent one back because the buns were like rocks (I think they must microwave it) and then received it with soft buns, but a very, very dry piece of meat. No words were exchanged to say why or if there is a problem, after 1-2 minutes of standing face to face, just walked away to go seat other customers I guess are more important. On this cold weekend we came out to get some comfort food. First time here and will not be the last time. We were greeted by friendly hostess/ bartender. Super sweet and very attentive. We started out with wantons with chili oil which was 10/10. Nice portion size and delicious. For dinner we shared the chicken with black bean sauce and fried rice. Can't forget veggie, we decided upon string beans with minced pork which was crunchy and soo satisfying. Food was amazing, space was cool. Loved the art and open feel. I was first introduced to Han Dynasty at their original Philly location, and so I was thrilled to discover that it's here in LIC! Came here on a weekday for dinner and it was not crowded. I appreciate that they provide complementary hot tea in a cast-iron pot for every table. We tried the cold, sesame noodles, the Westlake beef soup, and the pea shoots. Each dish was absolutely delicious. My favorite was actually the pea shoots which were incredibly tender. The portions are also huge - the Westlake beef soup could've easily fed six people. Great Sichuan Chinese food! I'm a fan from their other locations, but this location is one of the best for ambiance. It has an open rooftop in the summer. They have a few seats at the bar too. They also have happy hour drinks and bite specials. I like their Dan Dan noodles, three cup chicken, dry pepper chicken, beef and tripe in chili oil, and the fish with pickled vegetable soup. The fish soup has some rice noodles in it, so it can almost be a whole meal or shared appetizer. Most dishes can be adjusted for milder spice or more spicy upon request. The spices and flavors are delicious with a kick and some numbing effects. Yum yum. I thought food decor and customer service was really good. I purchased a to go order of 3 different app; wings, scallion pancakes and dumplings. It cost about $40. They use the toast hand held pos. It was preset for an 18% tip but I chose to tip a custom amount. Be sure to check for that. I know times are challenging and tipping culture is too much. Solid Sichuan place in the neighborhood. I tried to order takeout through the phone but it seem that use some AI answering assistant who tells you to order online which is a bit frustrating. Nonetheless the food is good and it was super easy to get for a party I was hosting. Some favorites included the double cooked pork (a favorite!), cumin lamb, string beans, chicken lo mein, shrimp friend rice, chili oil wontons, dry pepper fish (another favorite!), and fried chicken dumplings. I came here for lunch with a friend and it's a pretty casual spot in LIC for some good Sichuan Chinese food. The inside of the restaurant is spacious, with high ceilings and lots of seating. Service was attentive and quick. We didn't have to make reservations for lunch and there was plenty of seating. For food, we got the chili wontons, Sichuan fried fish fillet, and the salt and pepper squid. My favorite dish was the chili wontons as it was sweet and spicy, and full of pork. The fried fish fillet was also pretty good but I wish it was a bit less bready and more crispy. And, I thought that the salt and pepper shrimp was okay. I live just down the block so Han Dynasty is my go to when I'm too tired to cook or don't feel like scrounging around my pantry. The dry pepper fish is my favorite of the mains and for appetizers, I love the beef tendons in chili oil and the pork belly in sweet garlic chili sauce. The dry fry beef is another of my usuals too. They've got lunch specials that are a bit cheaper. I don't know if the chef is different during the lunch shift or if the food is a bit fresher, but I swear the dry pepper fish is always better during lunch. Prices are higher than they would be for similar food in Chinatown or Flushing, but that's to be expected. I think most of their business must be delivery and takeout orders since I rarely see anyone inside, but the space is new and big and it's always easy to grab a table without a wait. read more

I brought my family here for my birthday dinner, and while they didn't come with high expectations, they definitely left highly satisfied! My favorite dish has got to be the pan fried fish or the salt and pepper shrimp. Everything is very on point, so I definitely love everything I had. The ambiance has a good vibe and unique decor. The service was excellent, our server explained the menu, and our food was ready in 15 minutes, piping hot and delicious. We ordered the scallion pork for the main entree. The meat was well seasoned and tender, it had a sweetish flavor to it and no spicy. We also ordered the pork belly bun which was really tasty. You get two per order and they are soft bun with tender pork belly and chopped peanuts sprinkled over them, delicious. The fried chicken wonton was also delicious. My partner and I grabbed dinner here on a whim, and greatly enjoyed both the food and space! The dan-dan noodles were easily our favorite (already half eaten in the picture), as they were a combination of nutty, sweet, and spicy. We also got beef and tripe, bao buns, and pepper fried fish that were all delicious. In addition to the food, the service was immaculate! They were attentive, and the food came out extremely fast. They also have a happy hour deal that cuts the costs of a few select appetizers and dishes in half, which is such a steal (we went too late though). HD in LIC?? How lucky we are!! Made a reservation for a Saturday night in April 2024, though it wasn't necessary (this location is pretty new, so word is still getting out). My boyfriend and I shared: + Dan Dan noodles + Bok choy with black mushrooms + Pork dumplings in chili oil + Scallion pancake The Dan Dan noodles are still my favorite Dan Dan noodles ever, and the bok choy was also amazing. Scallion pancake was solid, too. Would skip the dumplings next time and try something new. I had plans to come to a bar nearby and when I saw there was a Pusld deal for this location I bought it. The place is large and great fro groups. The service here its excellent, they are on top of things without being intrusive. We started with the dry pepper wings. They were spicy but not over powering. For our entrees we got an order of Dan Dan noodles and chicken in garlic sauce. Both dishes were amazing. My husband and I get raving how great the food was. I had a delicious meal at Han Dynasty this past Saturday. My partner and I ordered too much food for two people: smashed cucumber, dandan noodles, cilantro chicken, and mapo tofu. With the AC blasting away, we settled in and got to work. The smashed cucumber dish was an interesting take on the cool and spicy classic. The cucumber had been carved into little chunks and covered in a tasty dressing. I liked having a small serving of this between servings of the other dishes; it helped me to pace myself, and tasted quite nice as well. The dandan noodles were terrific, all the more so because the noodles were cooked to the perfect chewy texture, springy and lively. The portion was rather large: an individual of middling hunger could probably make an entire meal out of it. The ingredients seemed fresh and the ingredients all worked well together. The mapo tofu was also a large serving. Spicy and soft, this dish goes well with rice. My favorite, however, was the cilantro chicken. This was rated an 8 on Han Dynasty's spicy scale, on which 10 is the hottest. While this dish was spicy, it was also quite approachable. No tears, no upset stomach, just a well-deserved level of heat. But the flavors! The cilantro permeated into the thinly sliced chicken, and the nutty edamame allowed for a palate refresher between bites. I'm used to getting szechuan chicken or changsha chicken when I first visit a restaurant like this, but I'm glad I went with something different. I recommend this dish highly. There were a couple little things that slightly detracted from my experience. One is that my original server disappeared partway through my meal, never to be seen again, and I was not "assigned" a new one until some time later. If it was shift change or something, that information could have been communicated to me. My other small gripe is that the beer taps kept running dry! It seemed that every beer I wanted to order had either run out or the keg kicked right as the bartender tried pouring it. Hopefully they're able to get their liquor license situation sorted out soon, but in the meantime, it would be awesome if they could regularly maintain their taps. All things considered, this is a great addition to the neighborhood, and I hope to check out their rooftop bar someday. read more

Just when you thought you couldn't be inspired by yet another Chinese restaurant...I went to Han Dynasty. Wow - it was awesome. From the entrance of this tall converted warehouse to the ever present and helpful staff to the delicious food. There are so many vegetarian choices that are creative and so tempting - I ordered all vegetarian dishes (I am not a vegetarian). I went with a large group of 15 people (2 were in wheelchairs) and the staff was on point and kept everyone happy. Tea was served in elegant little iron pots - so very authentic. I dined here as a party of 5 on their second day since opening the LIC location! I can speak highly of all the dishes we ordered, and we enjoyed great service. I'm excited to welcome another great Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. It was pretty inside. The front portion got sunlight from the windows, but we were seated in the back, further than the bar area that's on the right side of the restaurant, and it was pretty dark throughout our dining experience. There was a room behind us that is used for private events, and available upon request. We were immediately served iced waters and a pot of hot tea (the tea pot was very pretty!) Someone came over and asked if we've dined with Han Dynasty before, and gave a short breakdown of the menu and symbols/spiciness level. We were all diners familiar with the Sichuan cuisine, but I'm sure if you ask they can provide recommendations to your taste. Here's my breakdown of the dishes we ordered: Salt n Pepper Shrimp - 5/5 so yummy. I'm a big fan of salt n pepper shrimp overall. Not too spicy, but great umami flavor Garlic sauce eggplant - 4/5 very condensed sauce but a good complement with white rice Kung Pao chicken - 3/5 lackluster because the chicken pieces are so small and felt like a 1:1 ratio of pepper and chicken bits. Dry Pepper Fish - 5/5 better with the pepper ratio. The fish was well seasoned and yumm! Chicken lo mein - 5/5 part of me wishes there were more (green) veggies in this dish, but it was delicious so I have no reason to complain! BROWNIE POINTS that Han Dynasty served a HUGE bowl of white rice, rather than a small bowl for each dish / charging extra for small bowls of white rice. I felt we had plenty to share with everyone and to eat along with the different protein dishes and leftover sauces/seasonings. Han Dynasty had delicious dishes at a reasonable price; each of us paid about $26 to share those 5 dishes. The noodles were dry af and seemed like spaghetti apart from being very flour-y, there was nary a trace of pork, and the sesame tasted more like peanut butter. I have been a fan of Han Dynasty for a number of years. First location I went to was the East Village location, second location was in Philly, which was in a former Bank, and now the LIC location and I can firmly say all three locations have been awesome. The LIC location has only been open for 5 months now but the dinner went smoothly, the service was great and the meal was timed out nicely. I think the heat level is decent especially for people who can't handle a ton of spice, I would say it's something like on the 6/10 range for spicy. The location itself is nice and spacious, but I do feel it does have an Americanized Chinese decoration, but to be honest, that fits in the theme of LIC. I have been three times now and I really like this place. This place also does a large format meal where they make what they want to make, kinda like a chef's menu. You have to sign up beforehand and it is done once a month. The food: Dry Pepper Fish- Battered and triple flash-fried fish with long hot pepper and dry chili peppers. Oh man is this dish good. It's perfectly fried with a nice Szechuan hit, this is a must. Dry Pepper Chicken Wings- Six dry-rubbed flat wings stir-fried with dry chili pepper, long hot peppers, Sichuan peppercorn, and scallions. This is similar to the above just with perfectly cooked chicken wings, this is another must. Pork Wontons in Chili Oil- The version here was great. Sauce and wontons were great. Beef Tripe in Chili Oil- I am very picky with this dish but the version made here was great. Flavor and cook on the tripe were great. Dan Dan Noodles- Flour noodle tossed with house-made chili oil, sweet soy sauce, sesame paste, scallions & minced pork. Noodles had a touch of lingering heat but the noodles were cooked perfectly. This is a signature dish and should be ordered. Dry Pepper Cabbage- Chinese cabbage cooked with dry chili pepper and Sichuan peppercorn oil. Nice veg option for the table.
