I'm writing this review as I eat my leftover Cantonese Noodles and thinking to myself, 'man Han Noodle is an amazing restaurant!' Han Noodle is one of my favorite restaurants in Rochester and depending on the length of my trips home I always try to stop in. This place serves incredibly delicious food in record fast time and at a very affordable price. Everything I've had here has been fantastic and delicious, but all noodles considered my favorite thing on the menu is actually the Shiitake Mushroom Steam Bun. So this was the first place I tried after coming to Rochester. I had low expectations because coming from NYC, the next best thing would be to fly halfway around the world. Visited Han on Saturday night. There was a line of people out the door, which I took as a good sign. It was worth the 30-minute wait. We started with the Spicy Diced Chicken Steam Buns. They were a delicious with a nice contrast of the soft bun and the crispy and slightly spicy chicken. For our entrees, we had the "House" Broth Noodles and the Spicy Chicken Peanut Noodles. The Spicy Chicken Peanut Noodle was very good, and a rich dish that was enough for 2 meals. The House Noodle Bowl was seasoned perfectly, and had a nice mix of the chicken, shrimp and squid. Our appetizer and entrees came out fast, and the service was responsive. As another reviewer mentioned, Han pretty much ruins most of the other Chinese places I have been to in town. Went here for lunch with a friend yesterday. Started with the scallion pancake and pork belly buns, both of which were very tasty. My friend had the wonton broth noodles. The wontons were delicious, definitely a step above typical takeout fare. The noodles were tasty, but the broth was lacking in flavor. Adding soy sauce helped, but "mild" is about the nicest way I can describe it. I got the spicy diced chicken broth noodles, which comes with thick white noodles that soaked up the spicy flavor of the broth nicely. The green bell peppers were well cooked: tender but not mushy. The chicken was so-so. It seemed to have been breaded, which ended up slightly soggy in the broth. I was not disappointed and we may go back, but I was hoping for more impressive broth noodles from a restaurant with "noodle bar" in the name. read more

Every dish I've had from Han Noodle Bar has been fantastic and wonderfully unique. Have tasted spices and styles you won't find in other Asian cuisine places around town. The pork buns are delicious, and the wonton soup is the best in Rochester. The soup is not the typical yellow broth with scallions, pork, and the large slippery, thawed out wontons. It is homemade--the broth and the wontons. Only $3 for a large and it easily serves two as an appetizer. I've only had non-broth noodle dishes, but they have all been fantastic. Favorites have been the Shanghai Noodle and Dan Dan Mein. For the high quality of food, and the low prices, this place has easily become a favorite. read more

Besides the braised pork belly bun and pho I wished they would include another of my favorite that they don't actually sell in this store is the dumpling soup. I love going to Han, the wait for a table is never more than 10 mins. The food is always fresh and cooked perfectly. Friendly service and it's byob, how can you beat that?! I went there for the millionth time last night, we were a party of 5, we got 5 appetizers and 4 entrees, and the bill was less than $60. Excellent place for a casual dinning experience, very budget friendly, you can easily do an appetizer and two entrees for less than $20. This is a small hole-in-the-wall right next to Dog Town. Too bad they don't have a parking lot because that would make me eat there more often. We ordered an appetizer of roast pork (char siu) that was delicious--not overly sweet like what I am used to having. (I think I'll take out an order next time to put on my ramen at home.) I also had the crispy pan-fried noodles that included pork, chicken, plump whole shrimps and assorted vegetables. Again, a winner because the noodles were really crisp, not greasy like the ones I had at home in our Chinatown. The noodle texture was perfect after the noodles soaked up the soup (kind of like the sauce that beef broccoli usually comes in). My husband had the Singapore noodles which had a full curry flavor, but was on the spicy side. I'm thinking that you could probably ask them to make it less spicy. The servings here seem good for two or one really hungry person. I wanted to try other dishes, but will have to return for that. I used to real like Hans noodle at the beginning few months. Then the portion starts to get smaller and smaller, rice is fine, but the meat and vegetable... The bun is still great, except once or twice,the standard seem fluctuating now that the restaurant is getting more popular and not worrying about not having customer. Another thing to keep in mind is, the rice noodle bowl which has chicken or duck in it... For me, an Asian, we are used to having tiny bones floating in the soup but for some Western Elderly people, they didn't expect it as we do. Twice, they chewed on bones without expecting it. Again, I might be too sensitive. But it's worth improving and be careful. I just hope Hans noodle can improve the portion, especially Singapore fried noodles and the meat/veggie on entree dishes. read more

First time there the other day, liked it a lot. It's small and there was only one server who at times was very busy. I went for the famous pork belly steamed buns and call me crazy... I wasn't too fond of them! The pork itself was good but the bun, not so much. I had the pancake which was delicious, 2 orders of the steamed pork dumplings which again, delicious and she has a soup I don't remember which one. Overall, we got quite a bit of food and the ending check was less than $25! We will be returning, next time for the roasted duck soup. My family and I stopped by Han Noodle on the way back from Toronto. We were delighted that all of our dishes tasted really yummy and came out piping hot. We ordered: beef hofun wide noodles, scallion pancakes, pork belly bun, and Buddha veggie stirfry. It was Monday night and restaurant was pretty busy. Our waitress was friendly and efficient.
