I liked this place. I don't think it's the best place in Rochester though. Personally I like Shiki better. It's different though, but when I want Asian food I will go to shiki or Korea house. I've been here a few times and they are a pretty solid choice for your craving. My son loves the lo mein, their scallion pancakes are simple and delish and my hubby is a fan of the general tso's chicken. What makes this place even better is the customer service. I came one night to pick-up and their credit card machine was down which was a bummer since who generally carries cash these days? I walked across the street to the ATM and came back to pay for my order. The owner (I'm assuming) was on the phone with the credit machine company and when he was finished he apologized for the inconvenience. It happens... and then asked me for my phone number so he could put a credit on my account for my next order. I have ordered take out from Han Noodle Bar twice now. The first time I remember as being unmemorable, hence why it's been 3-4 years since I last ate there. I figured I'd give it a second chance. I ordered the fried vegetarian spring rolls. They had little to no flavor and the only thing that made them tasty was the dipping sauce that came with them. I also ordered lo mein with fried tofu. The Tofu was cut in good sized strips and was fried lightly. Great texture, but they would have benefited from a sauce or some marinating as they were bland. The lo mein was a little dry and really had no flavor. I'm not sure if this is common with all their dishes but I had to add soy sauce to give it any type of taste. The cook on them was fine, but at the end of the meal, I kind of wish I would have saved the $12 and went next door for a garbage plate... I probably wouldn't go back. read more

A truly fantastic restaurant serving up fresh and flavorful food. Their pork belly buns are juicy and crisp and perfect. Their dumplings are always delicious. I have yet to have an entree I didn't devour, quickly. Customer service is excellent. The open kitchen means the food can be seen cooking, which is fun. This place is my absolute favorite. I try to get something different every time I go because I am never disappointed and every dish is quite different and absolutely delish. Small eating area but I've never felt cramped inside..service is good and I've never had a problem with getting everything I've wanted. Get the steamed buns. If you get nothing else get the steamed buns. They don't have alcohol but you can byob. Which is amazing. They also have a basic menu on the back for all you white girls who just want sesame chicken. That being said whenever I have a friend order anything on the basic Chinese menu I steal as much as I can as it is the best around. Bathroom is questionable but who cares. It's extremely difficult to find a place in Rochester that serves Pork Belly in general. Usually you would have to go to Toronto or NYC /Boston Chinatown to find good pork belly. Ordered take out based on yelp reviews. We were in town for a couple nights. I thought we should try the noodles, because it is a noodle house. This may have been the worst take-out meal I've ever had in my life. The steamed bun was fine. But it's a noodle house. They should know how to handle the noodles. The ammonia smell in these noodles makes me never want to have noodles again, which is saying a lot. It smelled like we could clean the floor with it. And the broth tasted like weak tea. Han is one of my favorite places to eat. The pork belly steamed buns are to die for. My fallback order is the panfried noodles. I don't care for pork so they give me more chicken and shrimp without question. I have eaten here so many times I have lost count. There has been nothing I have not liked nor has anyone I have ever dined here with. The food is very reasonably priced and I can usually squeeze another two meals from my take-home. My only complaint is that the restaurant can get very busy on weekends and it is a very long wait for a table. The restaurant is so small that when you're waiting you're practically on top of other diners. I am hoping they can either expand their space or move to a larger space. They have become so popular now it would certainly warrant it. Dining room is small and tables are very close to each other which normally is not my choice for dining but works here, it's part of the experience. I have never had bad service and have found all of the staff to be delightful. I have taken to keeping a menu in my car and calling an order in on my way home from work. During busy times even if you are doing takeout you can wait upwards of a half an hour for your food. They do an incredible take out business as well so at prime periods Don't expect this to be a quick in and out but trust me it is worth the wait. read more

From delicious(and cheap!) appetizers, to flavorful soup dishes, to clay pots that are to die for, this local spot has it all. This place surely has high reviews for its buns.. Probably I arrived at the wrong time with the wrong appetite. The moment I stepped into the restaurant, the hostess was serving another party so I sat down and waited for the menu. There were two other colleagues of hers (kitchen crew I supposed) that were preparing some raw ingredients but noticed my presence and ignored me. For me, that is a poor customer service since they assumed that wasn't their job responsibility to serve me the menu. After waiting for the menu for close to 10 minutes, I opted for the Szechuan noodle to spice up my appetite but it was a disaster. To be honest, the Szechuan flavor isn't suitable for an average customer. It's hot but lack of spices, it's not the restaurant's fault as they were only following the authentic way of preparing the dish... I should probably try other safer choices in the future, still it's worth the go compared to SEA restaurant which has a limited options of dishes! read more

The wonton smelled like ammonia and tasted like ammonia. I wish I could get the taste out of my mouth! So glad we gave Han Noodle a try - delicious! I normally wouldn't go out for Chinese food because my spouse is Asian - hence, we have terrific Chinese food cooked in our own kitchen. However, we weren't disappointed with Han Noodle Bar - great food at very reasonable prices. My dining companions & I settled on 3 starters, a plate of steamed buns, 2 noodle dishes........ Starters - The pan-fried pork dumplings were simply delicious! The skins used to enclose the pork were very thin - not the thick, doughy skins [terrible] that are so commonplace. The pork filling was seasoned perfectly and melted in your mouth. Crab rangoon with mango chili sauce - tasty, but the mango chili sauce was a bit light on spice & heat. The sauce reminded one of duck sauce - average. Thankfully, the crab rangoon was flavorful enough to make me overlook the sauce. My dining companions enjoyed the roasted duck - they liked the crispy exterior, but raved about the tender, flavorful meat. The dish was served cold - but surprisingly, this didn't detract from their enjoyment of the dish. Steamed buns - we had the spicy chicken buns. This was one dish that did not satisfy. Mediocre. The bun dough was fresh and delicious - but the chicken filling was a bit bland. Broth noodles - if you like seafood and a bit of spice, you'll enjoy the Hot sour cilantro, basil shrimp and squid with white noodles. As Michael W. noted in his review - it's worth the extra $1 to have extra noodles in your soup. The spicy broth was flavorful with just the right amount of cilantro. The noodles were cooked al dente - not overdone as is so often the case. The shrimp were also cooked perfectly - not chewy and overdone. Pan fried noodles - Ginger scallion oil, bamboo & shiitaki with thin yellow noodles. A vegetarian dish loaded with mushrooms - my companions really liked this dish! The few bites I had were lovely - the seasonings were well balanced and spot on. The noodles were cooked to perfection as with my broth noodle dish. My only complaint would be that the shiitaki mushrooms were a bit overcooked - but not such that it overshadowed enjoyment of the dish. Service - our waitress was friendly and knew the menu well. She was attentive without being intrusive. With all this food, we were not inclined to order dessert - but that will be remedied with another visit! read more

I've never gotten food that I didn't like at Han. I have, however, had at times had issues with service. From a botched take out order to specials that didn't indicate clearly enough what was in the meal. I once ordered a dish that I was unaware was served cold and the waitress had an "oh well" attitude when I suggested they add that to the board it was listed on. Second visit- the first being when they first opened. Pretty good! The place was packed which I was not expecting. Prices right around $7. Food came out pretty quick. There are no descriptions on the menu so unless you ask you might be taking a risk. I had the scallion beef which was loaded with sweet onions and scallions, which I loved, a large portion of beef strips. The beef was very tender, tasted like it had been fried in butter which made me wonder if I could get the sauce on the side next time. We also had the chicken lo mein which was devoured. It's a good Chinese place with some authentic dishes. Ironically the soup noodle is the weakest part: broth doesn't have the deep flavor as usually expected, and noodles are machine made and definitely not hand-drawn. Noodles feel a bit mushy. If you want great food at a fantastic price, you've found your spot! Han Noodle is a small house-like restaruant conveniently located near the end of the Monroe bar area near 490. This place has a fairly large menu ranging from noodle soups to various rice dishes and apps. By far, my favorite app has been the pork belly steam buns. Tender pork belly slices with the right balance of fat to meat in a soft pillowy steamed bun--perfect every time. Their Singapore Noodles were spicy and flavorful as expected. Though small, the overall atmosphere is open and inviting and staff always seems friendly. A must-go for noodles of any style! read more
