One of my favorite restaurants. Great food, Great service, Great prices. You can go here multiple times and have DIFFERENT and GREAT food tastes every time. I've had just about everything on the menu. They have a great selection of dim sum appetizers that you'll have a hard time finding anyplace else around. I started on the pork buns but like the chicken steamed buns best. I prefer the broth noodle (pho type dishes) better than a bunch of the Vietnamese restaurants around. When I get the broth dishes, I always get the white thick noodles. My favorites are the Roasted Pork (A11) and Basil Cilantro (A9). My favorite dish is the dan dan mien (B3). It uses szechuan peppercorns in the sauce, which other reviewers have described as an 'odd' or 'weird' aftertaste. They have a floral lemon flavor that leaves your mouth tingly / fizzy. Kinda like leaving coke or pepsi in your mouth. Add some spices and I'm in heaven. Its a very unique flavor (not being pretentious or hipstery) that I haven't had outside china. If you like spicy, give your taste buds something new and original. I order mine with extra peppercorns. Great traditional chinese food as well. its a BYOB restaurant with a quiet atmosphere. Drove from Buffalo just to try this place and it was worth the trip. The Dan Dan Noodles had the right amount of spice and the chili oil sauce on the bottom was insanely delicious. Very authentic. The cumin beef was succulent and tender, covered in generous amounts of cumin and cooked with some very very hot chili peppers. Delicious!!! read more

Honestly I don't know what all the buzz is about. They sometimes do a good job with their duck based dishes but mostly, I find the food bland and inauthentic. I can understand fusion (case in point, New Ming's further down Monroe Ave) but simply watering your food down is hardly a fair way of doing business. And while that does make Asian food taste different you have to ask yourself if 'different' automatically means 'good'. I understand there are very few authentic east Asian restaurants around but at least they call themselves Chinese or Vietnamese or Thai or Korean. With these guys I don't know what to expect because they're a 'noodle bar'. I guess my problem is not so much with the restaurant as it is with what it stands for which, in my opinion, is homogenization of cuisine. Having lived in NY and San Francisco most of my adult life, I've developed a discriminating palate for Chinese food. Han Noodle isn't the most authentic or the best Chinese food I've ever had but everything here is solid. It's been my go-to Chinese takeout since moving to Rochester. I love more traditional Chinese food. It's healthy, delicious, and usually on the lighter side. That said, I was really excited to try Han Noodle after reading the reviews. I found the appetizers to be very tasty. The squid appetizer was particularly good. The noodles and the soups, on the other hand, were incredibly bland. I understand that traditional Chinese food is more bland, but this was very very bland. Even watery. I had a duck noodle soup and the duck was way overcooked. It was very chewy and tough. I was not impressed. The pork buns were the best thing on the menu. With that said, they should change the name to "Han's pork belly buns" rather than Han's Noodle Bar, because the noodles are just not that good. read more

When the owner was present this was the best Asian place in the city. Last 4 times we have has poor to mediocre meals and my wife said enough. I had to try one more time and ordered take out. Not only was the food terrible but the cooks were giving us terrible looks as we waited for our order. I am so disappointed that I have to start the search again. Coconut water was listed as a "special" which intrigued me. My curiosity paid off when the waitress bought over a whole trimmed coconut with a straw stuck in it and explained that when I was done with the drink, the chef would chop it in half so I could scoop out the meat of the coconut for dessert. It was as awesome as it sounds. We started with a few quick appetizers: Crab Rangoon and Scallion Pancakes - Josh's favorites. The Crab Rangoon were delightfully crispy and the dipping sauce has a kick to it that contrasts well with the creamy filling in the dumplings. The Scallion Pancakes are delicately seasoned with very fresh ingredients. For dinner I ordered the Crispy Pan-fried Noodle. It comes with a delightful assortment of meats and vegetables in a flavorful but not overpowering sauce over a bed of noodles. It is excellent. Josh ordered Salt and Pepper Squid. The seasoned crispy coating wakes up your taste buds to the perfectly cooked squid. Honestly - every bite is a joy - no rubber texture here. These meals have good portions - leaving you well fed but not usually with leftovers. I had leftovers today though since I wanted to save room for the coconut. It was totally worth it and their leftovers usually warm up well. Also, everything is VERY affordable. Other excellent dishes I've tried: Anything with black bean sauce, pork belly buns, cumin beef, Singapore Mei Fun, different broth noodle soups (which always provide leftovers). read more

I went with 4 other people and for appetizers we ordered crispy tofu, shitake steamed buns, and the spring rolls. Everything was tasty but the shitake steamed buns were amazing! We also ordered the mustard green and tofu noodles, garlic shrimp, clay pot fish, and singapore noodles. Everyone loved their dishes and the portions were very generous. First time eating here, was pleasantly surprised. Though to be fair I have pretty low expectations for Chinese food in this city (hater, I know). We started with the steamed pork belly buns, which were fatty and delicious. They are almost exactly like Taiwanese gua bao. For entrees I got the spicy diced chicken noodle soup, and my dining partner got the Dan Dan noodles. Flavors were nice, portions were nice. I wish the noodle soup came with more goodies (there was just the lightly breaded chicken, some green peppers, and the chili peppers which are inedible), but for 7 bucks I ain't complainin. Dan Dan noodles needed more cucumber and was a teensy heavy on the sauce. Overall though, a great meal. I'm happy and will return to try different dishes. read more

This is my go to place for take-out/a cheap, yummy meal. My husband and I have no self-control with this place and order half the menu every time and still never spend over $30.00. Our favorites include the scallion pancake, crab rangoon, Szechuan Shrimp w/ noodles, steamed pork dumplings, dan dan mein, and pork belly steamed buns. I am really picky about fried rice but this place nails it every time. I read the reviews and saw they were either mediocre or great. Looking at the lower reviews it seems they are focused around the more ordinary Chinese dishes. Based on the name of the place I am betting that isn't their specialty so I went with beef brisket broth noodles and the pork buns. The buns were very good. I have had them other places and these were better by far. The broth noodles were exceptional. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful, noodles seemed homemade. The broth was kept separate so the noodles weren't soggy by the time I got home. If you have ever made or had real stock it has a different mouth feel than the store bought stuff. This is the real deal. My one criticism is the brisket had a bit more too much fat left on it. I would say if you are looking for sesame chicken, I haven't had it here but it probably wouldn't be my go to place. I'm going here for what the place is named after. read more

Since writing my review, Han Noodle has become one of our go-to places for to-go food. I must get takeout from there 3 times a month. What I love most is that they never make a mistake with my order, and (I know I am going to misspell her name, so please forgive me) Liang is just wonderful. Every time I go in she greets me by name and is always willing to recommend something when I am bored and want to try something new. The food is consistently great and they always use fresh ingredients. My wife agrees with me that their food is fantastic and she is always glad when I recommend that she take a break from cooking dinner so I can pick up something from Han Noodle. read more

Wowww. For the longest time, we've been thinking about coming here to try the steamed buns, and we finally went tonight. Everyone seems to be crazy for the steamed buns, and now I can see why. They are REALLY good (we got the crispy spicy tofu ones). We also split an order of Vietnamese veg spring rolls, the shiitake plate over seasonal veg, and spicy garlic tofu with mixed veg. I was in the mood to try something different, so I asked the server to suggest her favorite dish, one of which was the shiitake & veg. I'm glad I trusted her because it was so juicy and bursting with savory goodness. Literally everything was delicious. Service was great, and even though they were completely packed when we arrived during dinner time, we were seated in ten minutes. The food came out 5 minutes after we ordered.
