It does take the ladies a while as there just doesn't seem to be enough employees also the space is Very small. The biggest issue here is waiting. Due to the great ambiance & food.... This place does stay packed with at least 20 min wait. The issue is figuring out what's happening. The employees are too busy bartending, and waiting to manage the ppl coming in... so it ends up being a cluster and the bartender rudely yelling "who's next" ... there's a book you sign your name into... but you only know to do this if the person infront of you tells you because there isn't any signage. I've left due to this before in addition the ppl waiting for takeout & for a table should be required to wait outside due to how small the establishment it. I will absolutely be back. I do understand how the service could lack but the only service issue I had was the length of time it took for the waitresses to come back ... they were all very pleasant and nice! read more

Awesome hole in the wall spot off of G street. Came for the soup buns, stayed for the all you can eat experience. $38 for all you can eat is a steal in this city. Got an exuberant amount of food for the price and tried a ton of menu items. Super nice waitress, gave great suggestions and didnt limit us on how much we could order at a time from the all you can eat portion. Regarding the food (5 *), I can specifically recommend the all you can eat menu for lunch. My personal favorites include the: dry chow fun, shrimp tofu, soup dumping, shrimp dumpling, pan fried chicken and vegetarian dumpling,wonton with chili sauce, stuffed eggplant with shrimp cake, braised beef brisket noodle soup, lobster tail congee, purple gold yolk bun. In hindsight, I am not sure if the gold paint was edible so I peeled that off my bun on the second go around. The purple bun was a most delicious dessert in my opinion. Others liked the steamed roasted pork buns more. Depending on how one is billed this could end up being a top-end restaurant with top quality food at a top-end price. Lunch should cost about $42/person after tax and tip. Regarding the ambiance (4 *), the TVs, bar and seating are very modern and fashionable. Some lobbying advertisements on the screen can be a little distracting. The air dryer in the rest room looked like it might benefit from further inspection to make sure it is operating correctly. Regarding the service (3 *), accounting records could be clearer and more accurate. Our receipt recited a prior date of 11/25 when we ate on 11/26. I expected more accurate billing or a higher level of candor on how the tipping situation was handled. The tip was automatically charged on the all you can eat menu so we were doubled billed for tip (once in writing and once a secondary slip and prompted by the wait staff to write-in). Regrettably, we had to call back to get this corrected. I recommend examining one's itemized receipt extra carefully and snapping a photo of it. Aside from an accounting informality, this restaurant puts out an amazing works of art analogous to the best sushi chefs except for Chinese foods. read more

Came here for lunch and tried their expanded unlimited dim sum option with a friend. We tried a good portion of the menu, including most all of the dumplings, the fresh oyster congee, seafood noodles, picking duck, scallion, pancakes, fried, eggplant, mapo tofu, and walnut shrimp. The walnut shrimp and scallion pancakes were my favorite but everything we had was delicious. The mapo tofu was surprisingly spicy, as was the chili oil wontons. They kept the water flowing though and the service was quick, effective, and friendly. We asked if they had boba and they were able to run next door to Ginza and get it for us. The only thing I didn't like was the actual boba itself, as it felt like they maybe used instant boba as the texture was more gummy ish than normal. Still, I'd be happy to return anytime! read more

The food was alright: beef chow, purple golden buns, and stuffed tofu were good, but the noodle soups were horrible (extremely diluted broth). They gave us two items that we didn't order but luckily didn't charge us for those. There is a 20% mandatory gratuity fee added to the bill but they still suggest additional tips when you pay (sneaky). I notice a lot of restaurants impose this fee, which annoys me. Either pay your staff enough or raise the prices in your menus; tips are supposed to reflect the level of customer satisfaction. Anyway, I won't turn this review into a rant about the U.S tipping culture. The bottom line is that this restaurant is fine, but there are better options in the area (Da Hong Pao, Mama Chang, etc.). read more

We came here recently to grab a quick bite after a Nationals game and enjoyed it. The ambiance was quiet and peaceful, which was what we needed after a crowded event. We didn't have a reservation, but were able to get a table right away. We decided to share a few dishes, including the Singapore noodles, some dumplings and one other appetizer that's escaping me. But everything was really delicious, flavorful and fresh. Now that I know the food is good, I'll try some other options and cocktails next time. To celebrate our son's birthday, we went to the Han Palace restaurant. To my surprise, it is beyond our expectations. We did the unlimited tasting menu option B with Peking duck. The food came out so fast, and tasted good, we like the snow peas leaves with Garlic, Peking duck, 3 meats, soup dumplings, scallion pancakes, spicy and sour cucumbers. I chose the option where I can get everything I think option A? The staff wasn't attentive and when they were they rushed you to pick your food and made me feel like I was begging for drinks smh! I literally had to keep getting their attention to help. I got the unlimited drinks and the lemon drops and mai tais were not good at all. I watched the bartender make the drinks and it was just bad. Came on a Sunday for brunch and was simply blown away. We did not expect the food to be so good (this is coming from someone who's grandparents made authentic Chinese food and grew up on NYC Chinatown dim sum). The food is a little pricey, but worth it. The inside is beautiful - I loved all the decorations and could tell that a lot of thought went into the aesthetic. We ordered the purple yolk dessert buns, mushroom congee, chicken and vegetable dumplings, and Han style peking duck. My favorite dish was the dessert buns; I loved the pretty purple color and the egg yolk filling was the perfect amount of sweet. It kind of reminded me of bo lo bao (pineapple buns). The peking duck was also delicious, the skin was extra crispy and it comes with all the fixings: thinly cut scallions, cucumbers, hoisin sauce, and pancakes (think of a super thin tortilla). The congee was standard, super hearty and comforting. The dumplings were good as well. I especially liked how moist they were, but I wish it came with at least 4! Of course I LOVE the idea that we have dim sum on Barracks Row now. However, I do not love the prices and the portion sizes (we did not do the all you can eat... maybe that's why). While we weren't starving before eating, we definitely were STUFFED after eating and the price we paid per person was still lower than the cheaper all you can eat option! And we got to eat items that we're available for that all you can eat menu, so I would say... unless your appetite is WELL above the amount of an average person, I would probably just order what you want and not do all you can eat. Also, understandable, but not having reservations can make planning to eat here pretty difficult. Given that they are still new, lines can take a really long time! Parking in the area is tough but we walked so it was reasonable for us. While tasty, it wasn't incredible. The scallion pancakes are my absolute favorite, so crispy and flaky, if you enjoy a shrimp/beef combo, go for the Singapore noodles! Seating is on a first come first serve basis, but there is also bar seating! The staff are just as friendly as the Woodley Park location, and they offered many stories as we ordered off the the menu. Worth: Soup dumplings, Peking duck, Snow Pea Leaves, crispy beef, walnut shrimp, salt and pepper shrimp, lobster congee, egg yolk buns, cucumbers... Visted Han Palace based upon recommendations from some local friends and they did not disappointed. In the photo they have an unlimited tasting menu and while you may be concerned by that don't be! The portion is great and the food's really delicious. We tried several options and it was amazing. Upon entry it is somewhat small and there's a book to sign but definitely get checked in and stay for the wait it's well worth it. Once we were sat we're immediately served and did the bottomless drinks too and the mai tai's are strong and tasty. For food we did option B which includes everything on the menu listed less the drinks and the food is amazing. My favorite were the fried chicken dumplings for an appetizer, the steam are great too. I loved the shrimp lo mein, orange chicken, and general tso chicken too. I don't eat pork or beef so I can't comment on those, but I can say from the table you'll be happy. When seated at a table everyone can order but it'll come out like "family style". I"ll 100% be back and highly recommend them. read more

Good way to taste test a little bit of everything. The restaurant is really small so the tables are super close in proximity to others. We were basically sitting at the same table with our "neighbors" even though they were 2 separate tables. If you're concerned about Covid/flu, this might not be the spot for you. Lol. Customer service is great. We came for unlimited dimsum option B. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Surprisingly my favorite dish is the preserve egg congee. We of course ordered the peking duck which j enjoyed immensely. Two items I would not recommend is the roast crispy pork and the salt and pepper shrimp. the pork was very very salty and the shrimp tasted like old oil. We ordered everything else in the menu and it was all good. My friend loved the purple egg yolk bun. Gratuity is already included in the bill. I would recommend getting here early as it's first come first serve no reservations. Great option for dimsum and all you can eat food! $38 per person can get you an all you can eat meal for 2 hours. There is another option (optioon B) that costs $10 extra that provides extra dishes (such as peking duck) but the first option gives you all the classic dim sum dishes - this is the one we opted for. Our favorites were the soup dumplings (though they weren't the most soup filled dumplings I've had they still hit the spot), shrimp lo mein, stuffed eggplant, and shrimp dumplings. All of their dumplings were solid options. I also enjoyed their wide variety of congee, these were very warming especially on a cold day. Overall I thought the food was very decent. This place is not a traditional dim sum place (they don't go around with the classic dim sum carts) but the food came out pretty fast. We went at noon on a saturday and were easily able to grab a table for 6 without reservations (though it seemed to get a little more crowded after we were seated - if you have a big group I would recommend getting there on the earlier side since it is a smaller restaurant and they don't have that many tables). They also offer a bottomless mimosa option for a pretty good price though we weren't feeling the drinks that day. I really enjoyed the quality of the food here. I opted for all you can eat. I had the roast duck, crispy beef, salt and pepper shrimp, Mapo tofu, roast pork, dumplings and seafood pan fried noodles. All the dishes had great flavor. Although the food was tasty, the portions were way too big for dim sum. I expected small portions like one would at a typical dim sum experience. The portions were also inconsistent. For example, I would receive four dumplings with my first round order, then with my second round order, get six. So, a little bit of a head scratcher there. I wanted to try more food, but with the large portions, I felt bad wasting food, so I tried to stuff myself to not waste anything. I was not warned about the large potions, so it was a big surprise when I received all the insane amount of food on my first order. Although I tried to eat everything, it was tough and I wasn't even allowed to take the left over food home. I totally understand the rule of not taking food back home for all you can eat. However, I had no idea of the large potions. So, instead, the staff threw all the food away. If the portions were typical dim sum sizes, less or no food would be wasted, I could try other dishes, and the overall experience would be more aligned to traditional dim sum and a lot better for me. The ambience is casual and nicely decorated. The staff are quick to serve. However, I think they should warn customers of the huge portions when ordering all you can eat dim sum. read more

My daughter's beau took me to dim sum here today while we waited for my wife and daughter to complete their business in Bethesda. You have two selections on the menu - very easy. I tried their Woodley park location and had a much better experience here. The restaurant is very pretty and the dishes and chopsticks were very ornate. It's a kinda small space. We had a table next to the window. Our server was quick and nice. We ordered ala carte items, since I don't really don't eat much to begin with. We got the dry beef fun, bbq pork buns, scallion pancakes and the lamb and carrot dumplings. I really enjoyed the bbq pork buns, they reminded me of the baos I would get at home. The bread was fluffy and the bbq pork had the sweetness I expect from char siu. They also used chunks rather than shredded meat which I enjoy. The only thing is that they're on the smaller side from what I'm used to. Scallion pancakes were good, nice and crispy and they gave us a type of chili oil to use as dipping sauce. It was not spicy, so I did use it sparingly. Dry beef fun was good, my only comment was it seemed a little light on the beef-- it could've just been our portion. The lamb and carrot dumplings were different. It's what I would imagine a lamb dumpling to taste like, the filling had the gamey taste of the lamb. It wasn't my favorite, I don't usually prefer lamb but I wanted to try something different. Overall the food was good, only thing is it is on the pricier side for what I would normally pay for dim sum. But they are in the city, so it's comparable to other places. Before you see a 3-star review and freak out, let me preface, this place should be considered for only groups of 4 (maybe 5) and less. The space is small and cannot accommodate larger parties so if you are considering bringing a bigger group, just go to the Woodley Park location. Larger Party Experience: I had a really poor time coming here with my group of 8. Before coming, I had called 6 days prior to ask if they could accommodate a larger party. I was told they could and when asked to confirm the opening time, I was told to call back Friday (we were going to eat Sunday). On Friday, I was told that they opened at 11:30 am and that my party would be fine as long as I arrived early. I arrived at 10:50 am and to my surprise, the restaurant opened at 11. Welp, there was not enough space for 8 people, since people were trickling into the restaurant, and my full party would be arriving at 11:30, we couldn't get a seat (which was understandable). IT TOOK 2 HOURS to be sat and the workers were giving attitude about it (but tbh, it kind of adds to authenticity). However, once we sat down, the same workers were much more attentive and kind. Food: Because I waited 2 hours, I was pretty hangry and couldn't savor the food as much as I really wanted to. I did like the food a lot, in particular, some highlights were the shrimp dumplings, the wontons in Chili sauce, the Peking duck, the sweet and sour cucumber, and the beef chow mein. It was sad to see how Americanized this dim sum was with dishes like walnut shrimp and sesame chicken. I mean any dim sum that doesn't serve chicken feet cannot be considered authentic. For a dim sum restaurant to be in a physically small location contradicts the idea of what dim sum is about, which is about sharing a family-style meal of small plates among a group. While the taste is good and there are some traditional dim sum dishes, it can be pretty Americanized. I still want to emphasize and end this with you thinking that the food here is really good because it is... trust me. read more
