My only complaint of Han Palace is that the service was horrendous, despite there being plenty of available servers. Most were standing around near the bar area. We arrived closer to the end of their happy hour around 6:25 and the happy hour ended at 7. However we were not seen by wait staff until 6:50 for even a drink order. This is one of the last dim sum Cantonese style restaurants serving McLean, Vienna, Great Falls area. There's a big gap distance wise to the next dim sum restaurants (think Falls Church inside the beltway off rt 50, Annandale, Springfield, Rockville MD). With this in mind, I am willing to overlook the higher prices and lack of cart service and focus on assessing the food. Food Quality is good in terms of freshness since their customer order volume is high. Food taste: dishes such as beef/wide stir fried noodles, Yang Zhou fried rice, seafood, dim sum are on point. Heard all the hype and decided to check this place out for their soft opening. Han Palace was incredibly busy as expected. Fortunately, they honor those that made reservations so we were seated right away. Great way to start the overall dining experience! One of the biggest selling points was the all day Dim Sum. Unfortunately, the Dim Sum was gone as soon as they were put out so we were only to get a few options (turnip cake, spare ribs, and desserts). Normally I'd be disappointed but the Dim Sum we had was absolutely delicious! Everything was fresh, tender, and had me wanting more after every bite. We also decided to get some entrees while we were there and they surely did not disappoint. The Hainan Chicken was juicy and paired well with the ginger onion sauce. The salt and pepper triple delight was perfectly fried and light. The Steak was tender and had a crispy exterior to give the perfect bite. Even the veggies were delicious and stir fried in garlic. Food was good for dim sum in this area. Unfortunately, there's not as many places to choose from so it was nice to see one in Tysons. We had steamed shrimp dumplings, shumai, roast duck, salted fish fried rice, noodles, congee, and a few other things. Prices weren't bad as we were a party of 7 with 2 kids. Total bill was about a couple hundred. Service wise, yes they are curt but I went in fully knowing that culturally this is normal. PLEASE READ: BEWARE OF BEING CHARGED ILLEGALLY. My husband, kids and I are visiting my family for the holidays. We wanted to take my parents and my brother out to celebrate both my parents birthdays. While the food was delicious, I cannot hold myself back and discourage anyone to go to this restaurant due to what happened. As a Chinese American... it pains me to even have to write this as I grew up with a family that owned Chinese Restaurants, but using a customer's credit card to put another charge that did not happen and then making up how a new charge came about is absolutely unacceptable. For seven of us there was an automatic 18% tip, the total of the bill was $242.29 and I did not tip extra. I paid and stupidly... I left my credit card there... so definitely my fault there. At any rate, headed to CVS to get some Advil... since I had a headache, and figured out I must've left my credit card at Han Palace, this was probably 30 minutes after we left. Called them (a woman answered), and they indicated that they didn't find the card. I then proceeded to check my account online and found out there was a separate charge at Han Palace roughly 15 minutes later of $64.71. I proceeded to call them back (a man picked up this time) with my husbands urging and I started questioning them of the charge. I told them I found a second charge after checking my credit card online and I basically said that I was going back to get my credit card since someone obviously charged it again from the restaurant, so they better find it... the $64.71 charge would've made it a $300 bill with my $242.29. They started speaking in Cantonese in the background and I was so frustrated I started spitting out Cantonese as well and automatically the tune changed on the other end.... Within 30 seconds my card miraculously appeared after calling them a second time. I got to the restaurant and went in and the lady that picked up the first time explained to me that they charged my card again "by accident". To be honest, I was so frustrated I just wanted to get my card and leave. She showed me a voided charge of the $64.71... and provided me a copy. When I got home, I started inspecting some more... and unbeknownst to me they also tipped themselves some and even signed for me. So 20% tip making it a total of $76.92. After reviewing timelines of things I got ahold of the woman at 7:32pm (on the call for 56 seconds) at which point she indicated there was no card with my name. At 7:34pm the $64.71 charge was voided. I called back at 7:41 with the gentleman and was on the call for two minutes. Apparently they called me at 7:50pm as I was pulling back up and the woman left a voicemail that they ended up finding my card. The woman that left the voicemail gave me the card and voided charge receipts.The lag in time is 100% suspect. You can see the charges... All I have to say is that please be careful about this establishment. If there are suspect people working at the place just means everything else is also suspect. read more

It was a Ladies Brunch, with two of my really good friends. We were so excited to meet in person. Knowing the popularity of this place, we phone ahead to book a table on their outdoor patio. When we arrived, the line of people waiting to be seated was bananas. Luck for us, they saw our reservation and seated us within 10 minutes. We were a little apprehensive when they lead us through a very busy restaurant. We relaxed considerably, when they finally took us out to the patio. Service is very slow, and between ordering and the food arriving there was a lag. Once your food arrives, it is to die for it is so delicious. We order drinks, several sharable plates of dim sum, and the duck with pancakes. The food will not disappoint you but the service is not the best. When the first round of food came, it was a while before we can order more. By the time it came to dessert, we were tired from chasing the staff down. We decided to get the check and leave...I almost had to tackle a waiter to get the check. In fact, I had to get up to obtain our check. It really is a good restaurant, management just needs to expedite the food in more of a controlled fashion. Waiters need to circulate better and receive better training on handling a busy bunch hour. I, too, was hesitant to eat here after reading the reviews. This place has typical Chinese service. Which I guess by Western standards is bad, certainly not expected for a restaurant that seems more upscale. I mean when servers ignore you or shout at you at a more "authentic" Chinese restaurant, it's just part of the "experience". This is like that. Employees are not outwardly friendly or enthusiastic. You sometimes have to assert yourself to get stuff done, but I don't mind it too much tbh. I came around 11:30-12 on a Saturday for dim sum and the place was pretty packed. There were a couple parties in front of us and we were all seated in 5-10 minutes. We were seated at the bar, which probably led to better service since our server is stationed right in front of us. After sitting for a few minutes, someone came by and took our order for tea (i always recommend chrysanthemum!). Then we sat for quite a while without our order taken. Our server was clearly pretty busy behind the bar, so just waited for a good moment and called for his attention. After that, food came fairly quick. Onto the dim sum, the food here is pretty good! The ingredients all seem very fresh. The steamed dumplings are generously stuffed, although the skins could've been thinner. The garlic snow pea leaves are perfect. The crispy pork belly is delicious and very thickly cut. In fact everything tasted great, though I didn't note any standouts. The food here is definitely pricey, but I think you're paying for the presentation, which is pretty. The shrimp rice crepe (my favorite dim sum dish) were the only disappointment. It came out much later than everything else. There was way too much rice crepe and it was a little mushy from being overcooked. One thing I will praise across the board is that the dim sum here is less greasy than most dim sum places. It feels less heavy and doesn't make you feel as gross after, which I very much appreciate. This place doesn't deserve to have such poor reviews. I think if you're going here, you really just need to know what to order. If you're not chinese yourself or don't feel particularly knowledgeable about authentic Chinese food, I would highly recommend coming here with someone who is chinese/knows their stuff/speaks mandarin (not sure if staff also speaks canto or not). My super foodie lao-Beijing MIL likes this place and had been here three times before recommending it to us. When she did, I was at first kind of reluctant to come, given the poor reviews on both Yelp and google, but I really trust my MIL's judgement about food so four of us came here on a Sunday night for dinner. There was no wait but the restaurant was quite full, mostly with seemingly chinese patrons. I've heard there can be a long wait during lunch or early afternoon for dim sum, but dinner seems to be ok! We ordered lettuce wraps, fish filet with lotus root, duck (not sure which one), pea sprouts, century egg and pork congee, and the salty egg buns. - lettuce wraps: 3.5/5, pretty good but nothing special - fish filet with lotus root: 5/5, sooo good, this dish was the star of the meal. The thinly sliced lotus root had a delectable light crunch to it and really absorbed the flavor of the sauce, and the fish was so tender! - duck: 3/5, a little too fatty/greasy for me personally but good flavor - pea sprouts: 5/5, the best sautéed pea sprouts ever!!! This dish was so flavorful with an ideal texture, not too raw but still crunchy. We gobbled this up! My MIL said one time after she and her friend ordered this, they ordered a second one because it was so delicious lol - pork and century egg congee: 4/5, pretty standard and tasty, not too salty, more on the light side - salty egg bun: 4/5, cute and tasty, relatively on par with other salty egg buns I've had in NYC and Taipei Overall I really enjoyed our meal, and the atmosphere was great! The interior decor is a bit more upscale. It really reminds me of being in Taiwan and China where there are more upscale Chinese restaurants whereas American Chinese restaurants all tend to be a bit more on the casual side. The service is not like, western service where the servers are overly cheerful and always following up with you, but please understand that that is considered acceptable for us and is NOT bad service. Instead of coming to your table and asking you how your food is while there is still food in your mouth like a traditional western server, they'll simply make their rounds and lurk around a bit, and if you CALL them they will come and do what you need them to do. In Chinese culture it is very normal to just call out "waiter!" and grab their attention yourself. Please try be conscious of this cultural difference before leaving bad reviews about the service. (And yes, there are chinese servers who are more attentive and similar to western servers, just note that these approaches are ALL within acceptable range in chinese culture) I can't speak to the dim sum quality, and I see a lot of reviews are mostly complaining about the dim sum. The dishes here are authentic Cantonese style, all-day dim sum which also is a plus. I guess you go there for the food not for the service. Oh, sometime the check can get pricey depending on what you ordered. I remember there was one time I paid $118 for two lobsters which surprised me a bit (not sure why the restaurant does not list price on their restaurant menu). We waited a long time before trying Han Palace -- honestly we weren't that impress by the dim sum offerings (mediocre at best), HOWEVER -- the main dinner menu was absolutely awesome! If you go to Han Palace Tysons -- go straight for the main menu offerings -- specifically the Chef's Specials. The Lobster Special Fried Sticky rice was pricey but absolutely did not disappoint. We ordered a huge smattering of items (only a few of which are pictured here -- our check was close to $400) -- and the mains from that specific part of the menu were the absolute best. Everything was well-balanced served hot and wasn't too long of a wait. Our only let down (like I mentioned earlier) was the dim sum menu, but we felt like the other half of our meal more than compensated for that. Some things to note when dining with kids--there are high chairs available but weren't boosters. And there are both booth and table/high top seating areas. There isn't kid friendly drinkware, so parents of smaller children should be aware that they'll need to monitor their kids with the goblets! ‍ Overall, definitely worth a trip to check this place out -- best to hit up the chef's specials! The Good: - The dimsum is authentic and and tastes pretty good - The decor is very pretty and has a "high class" feel - Their menu is extensive and they definitely offer a lot of dishes. - They offer parking with ticket validation - When you order tea (like Chrysanthemum) the teapot is HUGE which is nice. The Meh: - The food is good, but for the price point I can get the same quality for cheaper. - Wait time on Saturday was fine (like 15-20 mins) The Bad: - The service is TERRIBLE. Based on the reviews I just thought it wasn't good by certain people standards, but they were all right. The staff working the desk were disorganized and not helpful. The BAKED bbq pork buns were different but delicious!! I actually enjoyed it just as much as the steamed bbq pork buns, if not more. :) Their purple gold yolk bun was perfectly sweetened and served great as a dessert item. Our favorite was the crispy beef. It was fire!! Probably one of the best we've had in the dmv area. My only disappointment was the steamed crab meat dumplings. Surprised, right?? Also, it wasn't too expensive. Knowing they were extremely busy - you had to take a number in order to wait - perhaps the "cons" were due to that. For the most part, we enjoyed our meal here, but I've definitely had better Chinese food and felt like some dishes were hits and misses. Would highly recommend the saluted egg yolk buns, the beef dry chow funn, and the roast duck. I've had Han Palace for takeout before, but this was my first time dining in. We ordered: - A1: Steamed shrimp dumpling - A4: Steamed crab meat dumpling (the crab roe on these were really tasty) - B1: Baked BBQ pork buns (sooo good; I've only ever had steamed char siu buns, but the texture/flavor of these were amazing. Definitely recommend) - C1: Steamed shrimp rice crepe - D1: Purple gold yolk bun - D8: Coconut pudding (sad we didn't get the bunny shaped pudding, but great taste as usual) - Two chrysanthemum teas, which came in a teapot A lot of the poorer reviews mention slow service, but our service was very quick. Our food also came out rather fast. I'm not sure if this is because it was less crowded or not; it was a Monday, but it was Valentine's Day. I didn't want to believe the bad reviews and was excited to try Han Palace. Take heed, don't go. The 'service' was terrible. It took us 20 minutes before someone came to our table to give us water. We had to track someone down to take our order. Our waiter acted like we were bothering him. The food was bland, even their house chili oil lacked any flavor or spice. We mistakenly ordered the half roast duck instead of the Peking duck. When they brought the roast duck, I asked for the pancakes and the lady said "That's Peking duck. You ordered wrong thing," and then just walked off! DO NOT order this dish. The duck was full of bones, sinewy meat, and grease. It does not come with any rice or sauces. We picked each piece to try to get the meat but it was tough to pull. I ended up ordering some pancakes on the side (50¢ each) and they were big, flavorless tortillas! Our waters were not refilled. No one came by to ask how the food was or if everything was okay. Service was just awful. After seeing the owner's responses to negative Yelp reviews, I can see that the problem starts from the top. I try to go at their least busy hours, but of course most people go eat dim sum during lunch time on the weekends. I've done many carryout from Han Palace and food has been pretty consistent. We order the usual dim sum that many others order like the shrimp dumplings, shumai, scallop shumai, shrimp wrapped in rice crepe, chicken feet, pork spare ribs, fried taro cake, roasted duck, crispy pork belly, Peking duck (half), egg tarts and fried sesame balls and a few other dishes. But out of all my favorite so far from Han Palace is their steamed chives dumplings!! Wrapped in green rice wrappers stuffed with chives and minced pork/shrimp? (Not exactly sure if it's shrimp or pork). But it's delicious!! I've dined in a couple of times, food is good and noticed their service is slow. Although, the food came out (from dim sum menu) within 5 minutes after ordering. But after food came out no one came around to check on our table for anything else. I wanted to order more food and I had to look around for several minutes to finally catch a waiter standing on the side of the room. After we finished our food, I again had to look around for the waiter for our check. The restaurant wasn't too busy, We went on Sunday late afternoon around 4-4:30pm. Somebody recommended Han Palace for dim sum, so I decided to try it out. First you gotta find this place - it's in the lobby of the Silverline Center, a bit office tower in McLean. It may be dim sum, but it doesn't come around in carts - you have to order each item from a menu. The variety is fairly comprehensive, and you can get all kinds of standard dim sum fare, including a few surprises like lobster fried rice - tender bits of sweet, juicy lobster mixed with fried rice, with parts of lobster shell for show. I have not dined in yet because of the pandemic. I have only done take out from them. Han Palace is located in a high rise building in the Tyson's area. The dining space is modern and beautiful. They do have a very small outdoor seating area, but it is never open when I have come due to weather. It isn't a covered outdoor space. The restaurant reminds me of the dim sum dining halls in Hong Kong. And they always seem to be super busy. I'm surprised to see all the awful reviews. This is actually one of the best dim sum places I've been to in this area, in terms of food quality, food selection and environment/atmosphere. Like I said, I have only done take out, and service with take out hasn't been an issue. The food can take awhile to be ready, but again every time I've come here - they've been busy. And when ordering online, they clearly state that there is a little bit of a wait. The food is excellent. The presentation is great as well. I love... The food was fine, I came in on a Wednesday during lunch time and it wasn't busy at all. We got seated (we had a reservation) and it took the waiter approximately 20 minutes to come to our table to take our order. The floor was dirty. There was food on the floor and was oily (pictured) We got our food in a timely manner and it was average. Got some dim sum dishes and it was tasty. We wanted to order the fried sesame balls but tell me why it took the waiter another 15 minutes before taking the order. Delicious Dim Sum! There aren't many good dim sum places around the md/nova area but I love that this place is pretty good and you order the dim sum dishes versus hoping the cart lady comes my way before they run out. (YAY!) We went on a Saturday morning around 11:30am and we had to wait about 10-15minutes but I think that's normal for dim sum on the weekends. We had several dishes that were delicious like the pepper short ribs, shumai, pork buns, shrimp dumplings, and congee but the shrimp in rice cakes/crepe (which we usually love) wasn't as good. It had no tastes and we felt they skimped on the shrimp. It only had 2 versus the usual 3 per crepe. Yes, I'm nit picking. There are a few parking spots out front but also a large parking garage to the side so no parking issues! I'll definitely be returning soon! read more

The best Dim Sum in Tyson's Corner. Has wonderful ambiance and view. Dim sum is pretty good, not the best I ever had, and for some dishes the portion sizes were a bit skimpy. However, they offer extras like boba tea and mille crepe cake and their noodles were fantastic. Don't come here if you are in a hurry. It's a dim sum restaurant. They also have American Chinese lunch combos. If you can get over the feeling of being an uncultured lout ordering that in a dim sum restaurant they are actually pretty good. The hot and sour soup and sesame balls are really good! I wouldn't normally condescend to order General Tso's chicken in a place like this but the other American Chinese offerings around here haven't been to my taste so I was happy to find somewhere for my irrational cravings. read more

This restaurant Han Palace is all about the money first come first served unless you book one complete side of the restaurant! Don't get me wrong the food is good but the management or owner is all about the money!!!!!!!!! We made reservations for 13 people instead letting us know that they cannot do this they took our reservation only for their gain , once we got here they took us in but did not seat together. Claiming that if we wanted to seat together we would have to wait for availability, which defies the purpose of having reservation ,to me! So for that which could been told to us in the beginning would have made it better to understand! But it was not! So for that reason I give them 2stars for being greedy! read more
