Love this place. Favorite for galbi tang and cold noodles. Ugh so so good. Sometimes it can get crowded and the wait might be long, but it's worth the wait. I usually don't eat during normal lunch or dinner hours so I've had good luck dodging the crowds and not having to wait . I always recommend it to my friends who want to try more of the traditional type of Korean dishes. I can see a lot of ppl enjoying the galbi tang. Its amazing. So my brother & I ate here when we were at a Convention in Anaheim for the week. My brother ordered his favorite Korean dish Yuk Kae Jang which he always gets in Seattle. Now...for my brother to say this is the best he's ever tasted is a big deal considering he's such a fan & aficionado of Korean food in the Seattle area and I must say this was sooo tasty and so tasty it was that we came back here several times in our few days we were in town. With that said, I told him that if he thinks this is the best he's had that I am setting myself up for a high standard and sure enough I've been disappointed every time I've ordered this elsewhere her in Las Vegas where I live. Yelpers you played me.... I came here instead of my regular spot because of the great reviews. My boyfriend and I stopped in last night for dinner and we're both left wanting more. Firstly the service wasn't very friendly. Secondly when we were sat at our table we waited for almost 15 minutes for someone to take our order. I ordered the spicy beef and vegi soup which is what most people around us ordered. I wasn't impressed I ordered medium spicy and wanted way more heat! There was only bean sprouts and huge amounts of green onion as far as vegi. The menu is very nondescript so I was ordering a little blindly lol. My boyfriend had the octopus bibimbap he said its wasn't the greatest. The side dishes were regular kimchi and kimchi radishes. Living in Hawaii, I have access to a lot of authentic Korean foods. I used to live in Anaheim and remember eating here when I was younger. I'm glad to see that the quality of the food hasn't changed. Took the family on a trip to Disneyland and decided to eat something other than Ihop and McDonalds, so I took them here. Though I'm not a big soup eater, I loved their Bibimbop. For those that don't know, it's a large stone pot that is still hot, filled with rice, vegetables and meat. It comes to your table too hot to hold and you mix everything up and season it to your hearts content. Then you eat it like a child eating a big bowl of ice cream...delicious! When I went there (March 2014) this particular dish was $10.50. Here in Hawaii the same dish, but a quarter of the size runs about $15.00...and it doesn't taste as good. The Kalbi Tang (Rib soup) was good, but you have to realize that it's not a hearty broth..a bit bland, but you have to season it to get it to taste the way you want. Food is great, but be warned, this place is popular. Parking is tight and you will have to write your name down on the wait list for a table if you get here too late. But the service is awesome and the ladies do everything they can to make your meal enjoyable. read more

Let me start by saying that I don't have much experience with Korean food. My rating of the food is just based on my impression. This place was such a great find! I happened to be in the area and was hungry so came in around 5:30 on a weeknight. We got a table immediately. Service - we had the absolute nicest server. She could tell we were noobs so gave great recommendations and even explained how to eat the food in the most authentic way (dip this in that, eat these in this order, etc). Food - we ordered the Bibimbap, Donkatsu, and Galbitang. Portion size was huge and the quality of the meats was excellent. Everything was so delicious, even the side dishes!! Price - each dish was about $12-15. Great considering the large portion size! Atmosphere - simple place with about 12-15 tables. Everything was clean, well lit, and cheery. This is my go to spot for Seolleongtang and Galbitang. I also really enjoy the wide variety of bonchon. They have the best Gamja Jorim and I always ask for refills. SO GOOD. My first time here. So far, I've only tried a bit of galbi tang (from bf) and yook gae jang. BEST galbi tang. Hands down. I mean, I have tried MANY MANY galbi tangs... and I'm pretty sure Han Yang has the BEST galbi tang. EVER. As for yook gae jang, my my. First of all, I LOVE yook gae jang. I've tried really bad yook gae jangs and really good yook gae jangs. I would say, Han Yang's yook gae jang was REALLY good. I think I used too many "really's".... but really... Best Galbi Tang! Period. What is Galbi Tang? GalbiTang is Korean Short Rib soup. How to eat it right? (my way) Make sure you debone in the bowl and dip it in the pickled radish with jalapeno and horseradish soy sauce. Just let it soak in there a bit while you eat the rice in the soup. Add green onions if you like. Koreans love soupy concoctions when they are cold, hot, sick, or just plain hungover. Remember to eat your rice + soup with some ggak-dook-ee (radish) and kimchi. Now grab the galbi that has been staring at you and garnish it with a little pickled radish from the sauce and bite into it. The meat is good, but the sauce is what takes it over the top. Random fact: Hanyang is an old name for Seoul. Not open on Sundays. Marketing Tip: This place is called Han Yang SulungTang, but they have since become famous for their GalbiTang. They need to rename the place to HanYang GalbiTang. But the search for a Galbi-Jjim place in Orange County continues. Let me know if you find one! read more

Been here three times and so far so good. The food is great with generous portions. Don't know how it would be for non-Koreans, but the service has been pretty good for me. The first time I tried their Galbi tang it was so delicious, I was craving it for weeks. This time we didn't to go the food but decided to dine in. To sum this paragraph... The service here is terrible... We wait for over 15 minutes and my mother noticed people that came after us were getting served. THE WAITRESS FORGOT OUR TABLE. She apologized and said that she would take our order right away. We order three galbi tang and one dolsok. Also one galbi tang to go. Once we order the food didn't take long to come out. I was so excited to eat the soup again. I took one sip and I noticed that its was VERY salty. I was so shocked. It got better when I ate it with the rice but still not what I remembered. One of the Galbi tang we order didn't have the glass noodles in the bowl. So we had to ask the waitress again to bring it out separately. Once we were done and ask for the check. The waitress who forgot us, brought the entire pile of checks of the whole restaurant because she didn't know what we order. Also she forgot that we had order a to-go in the beginning. Not the best and not the worst. My daughter keeps saying that the surlungtang broth tastes very artificial as if it got mixed with white milk or something. OH.KAY. Their yook gye jang is UNBELIEVABLE. I love my mom with all my heart, but growing up with home cooked yookgyejang I was not a fan of this spicy soup dish. That was until I tasted Han Yang's version, which is basically red crack. I'm sure they douse it with MSG to make it more appealing, but I don't care give me all the MSG because I literally dream about this stuff, especially on a cold day. Seriously, everything is good here. Their galbitang, nengmyun, bibimnengmyun, donkatsu... the only thing that seems relatively subpar is their sullungtang. The soup doesn't have the same depth and richness that the other soups have for whatever reason. But that's okay, it's all about the yook gye jang for this girl anyways. read more

Looking for an amazing beef broth/soup? Well, look no further! This is your lucky day. My family and I love this place. We always get our own galbi tang. Even my 12 year old nephew can finish one. I might not be able to finish it all in one sitting, but let me tell you, the leftovers are awesome. The wait can be long, but it's worth it and it goes by fairly quickly. Max 1 hr. That's with a party of 12. They always have you order before you sit, so that right when your table is ready, the food comes out in 5 minutes. With only 10 items on the menu, Han Yang sure know how to keep things simple & good. I'm usually a Sul Lung Tang kinda gal but their Gal Bi Tang was pretty awesome. This soup cost a few $ more than the average but it was totally worth it. The chucky Gal Bi came in a large stone bowl filled with piping beef broth, egg strips, dates & onion floating on top. I quickly grab a spoon and try the broth before adding anything else ......one sip & I was sold. Beef broth was sticky & so delicious. I've never tasted galbi-tang like Han Yang's in my entire life! And I LOVE galbi-tang. I order this dish almost anytime I go to a new Korean restaurant (unless they specialize in something else - ok, I know Han Yang is a suhlungtang place but...!). Their gahlbitang is flavorful, complex, and beefy. Banchan dishes are great, too. I also ended up loving their bibimnaengmyun and suhlungtang. This place is awesome. Heard about this place is authentic and to avoid waiting, you can phone your order and take out. I did just that and ordered Yu Gae Jang. It came with three different type of kimchi, a small noodle, and rice. When I opened the soup container, it has a thick layer of oil on it and I knew this would be good and I was correct. The best yu gae jang that I have ever had. Flavorful, but does not appear to have msg. I will try the Galbi tang next time. read more

The galbi tang here is thumbs up reaalllyy GOOD, as is their kkakdoogi! The broth is deep and flavorful with lots of meat on the bone. The sul lung tang is meh. I'd definitely go for the galbi tang between the two. I mostly order to-go from here because this place is always PACKED. And they are pretty good at packaging all the soups so they don't spill. Also, I feel like they are more generous with the to-go orders. Upon request, they will give you extra kkakdoogi. yay! read more

I had a real bad experience here couple days ago. I was craving their food for a while so i stopped by for lunch on saturday. As I stepped into the restaurant, the floor was slippery as hell with grease all over, yes, you could actually see the grease on the floor. I couldn't barely walk towards the table and had to literally slide my feet back and forth. It wasn't just me and my friends, I heard more than three people complaining about the floor. I mean it was just really really bad how they would keep their floor like that when they must have elder/little kids customers too. Anyways, it was pretty packed so all the waitresses were going crazy yelling and bumping into each others. About 10-15 minutes after we were seated which isn't normally what happens in korean restaurants, one lady finally comes over but she was in such a rush, took our order not even looking at us and snapped the menus and walked away. The service was horrible horrible horrible! Food came out all separately almost 10 minutes apart. Same thing was happening to the party next us they got real pissed. And the waitress was slamming down the dishes every single time. I almost wanted to just walk out of there. I'm giving two stars because the food is pretty good but if I want their food again next time I'm to-going it for sure. read more

You would think that a restaurant like Han Yang would have a decent sullungtang. I've tried their awesome juicy galbi tang and huge donkatsu. Both of which I really loved. I thought their sullungtang would be up to par and ordered the mixture. I knew I shouldn't have ordered it once I saw the expression on the waitress. She had that off tone when she asked, "Sullung...tang?" Might as well tell me to order something else. I didn't think much of it till' I got my food. It tasted like water mixed with some half and half. Seriously, what the hell? I attempted to make it better by adding scallions, kkadugi water, pepper, salt, the wholeee shebang. I LOVE THIS PLACE. I was recommended to try this place by a friend when I first moved to the OC, and I am so glad I found it. Their most popular dish is their galbi tang, which is around $11. Pricey, you say? But delicious, I say. They give you a good 3-4 huge pieces of galbi in your soup, along with a sauce that is some mixture of radish, soy sauce, spicy mustard, and jalapenos. You tear up your galbi and dip it in the sauce, and you can consume the rest of the soup with rice and their ggakdugi (square radish) and kimchi. I LOVE their ggakdugi, and end up getting a refill at least twice everytime I go. Also, the soup is so delicious, and I love sinking my rice in it and eating it all together with the ggakdugi. The galbi is a bit hard to tear off the bone, but it'll be worth it. If you're craving something a bit more flavorful, you should definitely go with the nakji dolsot bibimbap, which is around $12 too. SPICY, delicious. It is a mixture of squid, rice, and different veggies all with a spicy sauce, served in a stone pot. Also, it comes with a side of miso soup. If you go with a friend, have one person get the galbi tang and the other person get the nakji dolsot, and you guys can go halfsies and be super happy. There are several other items on the menu. The bibimnengmyun is a bit different in that they put a LOT of veggies around it. I think it's worth a try, but not before any of the other stuff I already mentioned. Also, I tried their soo yook, which is basically sul lung tang and dried meat, except they are separate, and this could definitely feed 2 people. Delicious, and they do not skimp on the meat. The parking lot is kind of small, and the place is pretty small too. Parking shouldn't be too hard to find, but you might find yourself waiting maybe 15 minutes tops to get seated if you come during peak hours. Totally worth it any day every day. Honestly I like the soup here. I am still surprised by that myself. The bulk of my experience with Korean food has been BBQ and fried chicken. My amigo, who happen to be K, invited me here for some beef soup, or sul lung tang, during this el nino storm. I came in here with an open mind not quite sure what to expect, but knew i would be getting the beef soup, as I'm not to crazy about seafood unless it is of the best quality and does not taste fishy in any way what so ever. So I ordered the #1, which comes with a little of all types of beef (intestine, tripe, etc...). This little bowl comes packed with meat. You need to add salt, pepper and green onion to flavor this thing up. It is very bland, but my understanding is that its made that way on purpose. This thing could have used a couple of squirts of sriracha. Thats all it was missing. I would certainly come back and eat this again. One last thing, I must have got here right on time cause when I got here there were only a few customers in the restaurant. When I left there was a line out the door of people waiting to eat. Man oh man... Han Yang is the best Korean food in town. The ideal situation for eating here is coming with 2 compliant others who are willing to share in such 3 different delectable meals. The first one will obviously be the world famous Galbi Tang (beef short rib soup). So tender and good it's unfair. The second order will be Donkatsu (pork cutlet). The biggest and best portion as far as the eye could see with a perfect crispy outside with a chewy fresh inside. The third order will be the Bulgogi Dol Sot (Hot Pot Korean BBQ Beef with rice and mixed vegetables). More meat than your mama gave you. The only problem I have with this place is there is always a pretty substantial wait. There are lots of to go orders and with a small kitchen they are unable to efficiently supply the demand. Expect to wait 30 minutes especially if you will be dining with a large group. And don't even think about waiting near the cash register between the kitchen and the dining area. Traffic is heavy and dangerous. Waiters are constantly shouting out their every action so no disastrous crashes occur.
