If you are not a Korean and you are looking for a good service, this is not a place you would like to go. Our first impression was a bad service. We love Korean food and have been so many different Korean restaurants. This one is the worst one. Usually, before serving meal, all Korean places serves at least 6-8 appetizers on small places. These guys serves only 3 which is 1 yellow kimchi, 1 green kimchi and 1 radish pickle. One of the dishes served burned. All the meals s were so EXPENSIVE. The cheapest meal is $20. They never came to follow up to check the customer satisfaction. We wanted some extra napkins and forks. We had to wait so long to get them. The tables are so small. Stopped by for lunch today with my sister. I ordered the galbi tang and the meat wasn't very tender but the broth was flavorful. You get three pieces of bones with some meat on it, lots of green onions, only one dry jujube, a little few bites of noodles, and a bowl of white rice. I had better, so I wasn't really impressed. My sister ordered the ice bean noodle and it was among the better bowl of ice bean noodles I've eaten. But I don't know if I can eat an entire bowl of it. Overall the menu isn't very big, a total of 14 a la carte options, and you only get three banchans, which include kimchi, a pickled veggie, and daikon. I have to say I really loved their kimchi but still was completely underwhelmed by the number of side dishes offered. I happened to be in the area, but this is definitely not a place I would come out of my way for. But they really cranked up their AC and that was really welcomed on such a hot day, and very friendly and efficient service. Been here three times and so far so good. The food is great with generous portions. Don't know how it would be for non-Koreans, but the service has been pretty good for me. The first time I tried their Galbi tang it was so delicious, I was craving it for weeks. This time we didn't to go the food but decided to dine in. To sum this paragraph... The service here is terrible... We wait for over 15 minutes and my mother noticed people that came after us were getting served. THE WAITRESS FORGOT OUR TABLE. She apologized and said that she would take our order right away. We order three galbi tang and one dolsok. Also one galbi tang to go. Once we order the food didn't take long to come out. I was so excited to eat the soup again. I took one sip and I noticed that its was VERY salty. I was so shocked. It got better when I ate it with the rice but still not what I remembered. One of the Galbi tang we order didn't have the glass noodles in the bowl. So we had to ask the waitress again to bring it out separately. Once we were done and ask for the check. I like it, small place, does get busy, and parking lot is small. There is a wait list. We went early Sunday morning and waited about 15 minutes for 2 people. Food is simple and atmosphere is good. Mostly soups and some rice dishes. I had the galbi tang? soup. Tasted good, not super flavorful, but I think thats the way its suppose to be. Bibimbap was good. Would eat here again. Looking for an amazing beef broth/soup? Well, look no further! This is your lucky day. My family and I love this place. We always get our own galbi tang. Even my 12 year old nephew can finish one. I might not be able to finish it all in one sitting, but let me tell you, the leftovers are awesome. The wait can be long, but it's worth it and it goes by fairly quickly. Max 1 hr. That's with a party of 12. They always have you order before you sit, so that right when your table is ready, the food comes out in 5 minutes. I've never tasted galbi-tang like Han Yang's in my entire life! And I LOVE galbi-tang. I order this dish almost anytime I go to a new Korean restaurant (unless they specialize in something else - ok, I know Han Yang is a suhlungtang place but...!). Their gahlbitang is flavorful, complex, and beefy. Banchan dishes are great, too. I also ended up loving their bibimnaengmyun and suhlungtang. This place is awesome. The galbi tang here is thumbs up reaalllyy GOOD, as is their kkakdoogi! The broth is deep and flavorful with lots of meat on the bone. The sul lung tang is meh. I'd definitely go for the galbi tang between the two. I mostly order to-go from here because this place is always PACKED. And they are pretty good at packaging all the soups so they don't spill. This is our regular dinner spot after a long fun filled day at Knott's. We usually get here around 5:30pm and the wait is normally around 20-30 minutes. It's always crowded! This place serves authentic korean food and you will notice the top selling item here is their galbitang! OMG, I crave this soup sooo much. The meat is so tender and the soup base flavor is spot on. I also love their beef bibimbap. Great flavors with the signature korean burnt crunchy rice from the stone plate. My kids also got the chicken cutlet which was pretty decent too. I had a real bad experience here couple days ago. I was craving their food for a while so i stopped by for lunch on saturday. As I stepped into the restaurant, the floor was slippery as hell with grease all over, yes, you could actually see the grease on the floor. I couldn't barely walk towards the table and had to literally slide my feet back and forth. It wasn't just me and my friends, I heard more than three people complaining about the floor. I mean it was just really really bad how they would keep their floor like that when they must have elder/little kids customers too. Anyways, it was pretty packed so all the waitresses were going crazy yelling and bumping into each others. About 10-15 minutes after we were seated which isn't normally what happens in korean restaurants, one lady finally comes over but she was in such a rush, took our order not even looking at us and snapped the menus and walked away. The service was horrible horrible horrible! Food came out all separately almost 10 minutes apart. Same thing was happening to the party next us they got real pissed. And the waitress was slamming down the dishes every single time. I almost wanted to just walk out of there. You would think that a restaurant like Han Yang would have a decent sullungtang. I've tried their awesome juicy galbi tang and huge donkatsu. Both of which I really loved. I thought their sullungtang would be up to par and ordered the mixture. I knew I shouldn't have ordered it once I saw the expression on the waitress. She had that off tone when she asked, "Sullung...tang?" Might as well tell me to order something else. I didn't think much of it till' I got my food. I LOVE THIS PLACE. I was recommended to try this place by a friend when I first moved to the OC, and I am so glad I found it. Their most popular dish is their galbi tang, which is around $11. Pricey, you say? But delicious, I say. They give you a good 3-4 huge pieces of galbi in your soup, along with a sauce that is some mixture of radish, soy sauce, spicy mustard, and jalapenos. You tear up your galbi and dip it in the sauce, and you can consume the rest of the soup with rice and their ggakdugi (square radish) and kimchi. I LOVE their ggakdugi, and end up getting a refill at least twice everytime I go. Also, the soup is so delicious, and I love sinking my rice in it and eating it all together with the ggakdugi. The galbi is a bit hard to tear off the bone, but it'll be worth it. If you're craving something a bit more flavorful, you should definitely go with the nakji dolsot bibimbap, which is around $12 too. SPICY, delicious. It is a mixture of squid, rice, and different veggies all with a spicy sauce, served in a stone pot. Also, it comes with a side of miso soup. If you go with a friend, have one person get the galbi tang and the other person get the nakji dolsot, and you guys can go halfsies and be super happy. There are several other items on the menu. The bibimnengmyun is a bit different in that they put a LOT of veggies around it. I think it's worth a try, but not before any of the other stuff I already mentioned. Also, I tried their soo yook, which is basically sul lung tang and dried meat, except they are separate, and this could definitely feed 2 people. Delicious, and they do not skimp on the meat. The parking lot is kind of small, and the place is pretty small too. Parking shouldn't be too hard to find, but you might find yourself waiting maybe 15 minutes tops to get seated if you come during peak hours. Totally worth it any day every day. Honestly I like the soup here. I am still surprised by that myself. The bulk of my experience with Korean food has been BBQ and fried chicken. My amigo, who happen to be K, invited me here for some beef soup, or sul lung tang, during this el nino storm. I came in here with an open mind not quite sure what to expect, but knew i would be getting the beef soup, as I'm not to crazy about seafood unless it is of the best quality and does not taste fishy in any way what so ever. So I ordered the #1, which comes with a little of all types of beef (intestine, tripe, etc...). This little bowl comes packed with meat. You need to add salt, pepper and green onion to flavor this thing up. It is very bland, but my understanding is that its made that way on purpose. This thing could have used a couple of squirts of sriracha. Thats all it was missing. I would certainly come back and eat this again. One last thing, I must have got here right on time cause when I got here there were only a few customers in the restaurant. When I left there was a line out the door of people waiting to eat. Man oh man... Han Yang is the best Korean food in town. The ideal situation for eating here is coming with 2 compliant others who are willing to share in such 3 different delectable meals. The first one will obviously be the world famous Galbi Tang (beef short rib soup). So tender and good it's unfair. The second order will be Donkatsu (pork cutlet). The biggest and best portion as far as the eye could see with a perfect crispy outside with a chewy fresh inside. The third order will be the Bulgogi Dol Sot (Hot Pot Korean BBQ Beef with rice and mixed vegetables). More meat than your mama gave you. The only problem I have with this place is there is always a pretty substantial wait. There are lots of to go orders and with a small kitchen they are unable to efficiently supply the demand. Expect to wait 30 minutes especially if you will be dining with a large group. And don't even think about waiting near the cash register between the kitchen and the dining area. Traffic is heavy and dangerous. Waiters are constantly shouting out their every action so no disastrous crashes occur. To me, it's the best Korean food in the area, which says a lot considering there are so many restaurants in this area. Galbi tang is delicious, mainly because of the broth. They give you a sauce to dip the meat in, which adds more flavor to the dish. Suh lung tang is the best at this restaurant. They make the broth so well! Korean comfort food at it's best. TLDR: It's good. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there, but definitely good food. Small place, small parking lot, fast service. Extended review: We went there on a Wednesday evening. Saw a car leaving and decided to wait for the spot which turned out to be a good idea because they have a small parking lot. About four or five parties waiting outside, mostly pairs but one larger group. We were two people, so we got seated about 10 minutes after arriving. The banchan is good. My personal favorite was the kka tu gi (cubed radish). The kimchi is okay, but we had to get a second helping of the kka tu gi. We got the sul-lung tang and dolsot bibimbap. I believe #1 and #8 on the menu. Portions were not the largest I've seen, but enough to get full. The bibimbap is loaded with beef, which some people may prefer, but not me (contrary to popular thought due to KBBQ restaurants, a lot of Koreans don't love a ton of meat all the time). Both good and adequate portions, but again, I've seen huge dolsot bibimbap portions before (Beverly Soon Tofu on Olympic in KTown). Service was fast, and I don't know if I've ever seen a table get bussed so quickly after the diners leave. They know people are waiting so they get those tables set up very quickly. We as diners can appreciate that. A couple of extra things: 1. If you see a bunch of people waiting outside, chances are it will be hard to find parking in the lot. It's a very small lot with only about 1.5 rows of spots. The wait may or may not be short depending on what the rush is like. 2. It's loud in there. Not the place to go if you want to have a chat over a nice, quiet dinner. You can barely hear yourself think sometimes because of the ambience. 3. A couple of things happened in there that typically don't happen at other restaurants. One, when a server was energetically wiping the table next to ours, a very tiny piece of food flew off and hit my leg. No big to me, but I know that would REALLY bother some people. Second, they placed a tray of food for other people on our table in front of the chairs next to ours (we're two people at a table that seats four). We thought it was our food for a second until we looked at it and they placed it on another table. I used to work in a kitchen and I think I heard the manager talking about sanitation rules saying that once food is mistakenly placed on a table, it can't go to another table. Shrug. I'm gonna be really honest. I've been here 3-4 times at different stages of my life- meaning I looked completely different each visit. Blond hair, blue hair, black hair, silver hair etc. The food is always top notch, no questions asked. But the thing is I am always met with really poor attitude from the servers to the point where I want to eat here but I have to beg my friends to talk for me because I'm scared of being judged or given attitude. I usually don't eat during normal lunch or dinner hours so I've had good luck dodging the crowds and not having to wait . Allen, the owner, wrote to me and asked me to give them another try awhile back, since I did not have a good experience on first visit. I respect that kind of customer service. Kudos! I got the Octopus Bibimbap again because it is a stable. We loved it last time and it did not fail the second time. A nice lady, who was the wife of the owner, came out and gave me some recommendation of what to get. She also explained different dishes and how to eat them. I went with #2 Galbi Tang this time. As soon as we pulled up, I could see the condensation on the windows and I thought "Wow...everyone must be ordering the galbi tang!" And sure enough, almost everyone was! We came here on a Monday night, and there was wait. The restaurant does a good job though of hustling customers in and out because of the limited space. The food comes out quick and service is really quick and efficient. We ordered of course the galbi tang! It was big! Tons of tender meat. The broth was very flavorful. Had a peppery taste to it. The glass noodles on the bottom made this a very hearty dish. Lots of food, considering we also had banchans and a bowl of rice on the side. Oh but the dipping sauce for the meat is DIVINE. It really went well with the meat. Octopus hotpot! Sizzling! Delish dish. Huge. Lots of cabbage, egg, and rice. The octopus pieces weren't too plentiful though. I loved digging my spoon in and scrapping off the rice at the bottom of the bowl. Crunchy! Once we got the hot pot, the waitress instructed me to drizzle sesame oil in it. I understood her but wanted to wait until she backed off because she was standing to my left and another waitress was standing to my right refilling the banchans. But she got impatient and started doing it for me. These ladies are serious about eating Korean food right! =P Oh and the banchans were good. All of them were spicy though. In particular, I loved the radish wedges. So crunchy! Yum. Speaking of spicy, the octopus hot pot was spicy, the banchans were all spicy, the only thing that we ordered that wasn't was the galbi tang. Korean bone soup satisfaction is what you can think of when you come here. I'm Not Korean but trying new things is my livelihood. I enjoyed the Galbi soup (short rib), my hubby ordered the bone soup and we shared the octopus bibimbap. Some pointers: use the salt at the table in the bone soup and watch out for tiny bones in the short rib soup. The bibimbap was so good I really didn't want to share. If I had to do it all over again, I would get 2 different bibimbaps and share the short rib soup with extra meat. Service was on point and the waitress would come by and refill our banchan (lil plates of food like kimchi and daikon). The place is great for families and vegetarians of the sort. Several dishes are shareable and the seating is mostly 4 or more. The tables with 2 seaters aren't big enough for a bibimbap, banchan, and soup bowls so they had to move us. The wait depends on when you decide to go. We went during dinner on a rainy foggy night and we don't live too far from this place. Our wait time was less than 15 minutes and we stood there as more people added their name on a clipboard. My suggestion to bypass the wait time is to come on the off hours like 4pm or 830pm.
