If you're wanting a Korean-style sushi experience, this is the place. What is Korean-style sushi? It's a coursed meal centered around sashimi platters (very unusual to see nigiri at these restaurants), and dishes made with rest of the fish that became sushi. It's sashimi with a lot of extra accoutrements you'd expect in a Korean restaurant. We started with porridge and miso soup, and lots of banchan, including cheesecorn and steamed egg. Then came the sashimi platter. In Korean sushi houses, you get to have soy sauce AND a gochujang based sauce (it's gochujan and vinegar). They also gave us sesame oil + salt and dried seaweed which I think is for the tuna. Then there was tokoyaki, fried rice cakes, tempura, spicy fish stew, grilled fish, fried salmon skin, fried chicken, and spicy marinated crab. All while getting refills on the banchan. It was exactly what I was wanting, as I have not found anything like it in Seattle! Found this place randomly on social media, but it seems like it's not too well-known. The restaurant is very local, like a family owned, quite homey. As we step foot into the place, we know we would get treated like family by the Korean ajumma. They are really nice and informative. They even make sure we don't over-order so we can enjoy the good sutff. We got ourselves a seafood and sashimi combo. Before you think it's very little food, think twice, third time, fourth time. I've never seen a combo that they have to split in two different combos because that's how much food they bring out, for just one combo. Every seafood item is fresh and tasty with no complaint. Other food items in the combo are also very flavorful. The amount of food is ridiculous, not even kidding. Be sure to ask before you order a ton. Very tasty korean seafood restaurant and located close to Knotts Berry Farm for a nice dinner after a day of fun! Although it's located in a somewhat desolate looking plaza, the interior was decorated like a fun korean pub with lights and decor. The dishes we ordered were also all very good - the oysters and shrimps were very fresh and not fishy at all. I especially enjoyed the raw shrimp marinated in soy sauce. The uni pasta was great as well - the taste was not too creamy, but could use more uni pieces. Unlike other places, there still were uni bits in the pasta, and no extra charge for that. Overall never had bibimbap like this before so big fan. - Tako wasabi (5/5): I am a tako wasabi enthusiast and I can say this place has great bang for buck for the amount of tako wasa you get, and tastes great. I always get the sashimi platter here and the side dishes have significantly improved here. It used to be a lot of fried sides, but now it has more sushi options and I prefer it much more than before. I panicked when I realized the mistake. The lady in the counter was gracious to switch it to a small platter for 149.99. I felt so bad for the chefs. I wish this place will prosper. An absolute gem in Buena Park, Kuni Sashimi House is a Korean classic in the sense that you order a plate of halibut or assorted sashimi, and you get something like a four-course meal. The meal starts with abalone porridge to prepare your stomach and an array of seafood and non-seafood banchan (side dishes). My favorite are the takowasa, cheese corn, and the fluffiest steamed egg. Soon after, the sashimi arrives on a plate of ice with lettuce, garlic, peppers, and sauces (feel free to try making lettuce wraps)! When you're close to done, the second round of banchan comes out. This time there's takoyaki, salmon yubu/inari, scallion pancake, and tempura among others. When you can't eat another fried item, the spicy fish soup arrives with nurungji (scorched rice in hot water). The spicy soup pushes down the grease and the nurungi attempts to heal all the damage that's been done. First time here because I saw a reel from my Foodie friends, James & Mark. The SMALL platter of sashimi was $139 but came with everything shown, except for the Abalone sashimi, which was an extra $30, but I wanted to try it cuz you don't see it offered often. Their attention to detail is above par (see the lemon slice) and presentation is on point. They serve every kind of appropriate dipping sauce with the side dishes. There is WAY too much food though and I'm not complaining about the price AT ALL. You definitely get your money's worth because there are AT LEAST 20 dishes that are MORE than the normal Korean banchan. For example, tempura and fresh raw oysters are not banchans IMO. There were two of us and the amount of food could have easily served 4-5. We even had a huge "to go" box. "Some" of the added food you get: oysters, live octopus, seaweed salad, fruit salad, kim chi, jalapenos/garlic/miso, tempura, chicken tonkatsu, baked sanma, fish cakes, fish soup, potato pancakes, takoyaki, fish tacos, corn cheese, steamed egg, rice porridge, ochazuke, CA roll... My first time for corn cheese, so I was super excited about that. It was DELICIOUS! Let it be known, that your table will be filled with plates 2-3 times, so PACE YOURSELF!!! They don't serve a bowl of rice with the sashimi, but you can ask for it. I didn't eat ANY rice at all, but my husband did. (he's from Japan) The service is great, the ladies are super friendly and pleasant, but after all your food is served, they don't come around too often, but NOTICE that there is a buzzer on your table. There were 5 of us but we ordered the medium assorted sashimi combo that supposedly feeds 3 people but there was so much food that the 5 of us couldn't finish everything. We first started off with some miso soup, salad, and banchan like cucumber kimchi, salad, cold kimchi soup, cooked spinach, etc. Then the huge sashimi platter came and everything was so fresh and delicious. My favorite was the fatty tuna but I enjoyed every single piece of fish on the platter. This was my first time trying Korean sashimi, and unfortunately, the experience fell flat. We decided to try this restaurant after seeing all the great reviews. Seeing all the Koreans dining here also gave us a good sign. However, the majority of food was just ok. We ordered the halibut and baby flounder combo, which came with a huge platter of raw fish. The presentation was very nice, but the fish quality itself tasted just ok. We've had better quality sashimi at other sushi restaurants. The combination set also included abalone porridge, raw oysters, and a variety of other banchan / side dishes. This was probably the biggest downfall of the combination set. Even though there were probably around 7-10 side dishes, most of them were very mediocre. I personally don't need corn cheese or cold fried fish tacos with my meal.
