Ssam wrap with boiled pork, banchan, seafood pancake
    Jessie L.

The food here is very good and serves different dishes than the typical Americanized Korean restaurant. I love their seafood pancake and the side dishes are slightly different than what I'm used to but all very good. Unfortunately, the waitresses made the experience unpleasant. We finished all our food and even gave them a higher tip as thanks for serving a bigger group. I'm pretty sure it's because we aren't Korean. I said thank you to one waitress and she stared at me, unsmiling, then looked away without a word. My entire family noticed all the waitresses had stinky expressions and didn't even bother to say anything to us when we left, it felt like we were a nuisance to them.

    Steamed monkfish

I tried the steamed monkfish (agu-jjim), and it was so good! The fish was really fresh, meaty, and savory. The portion was huge perfect for three people. We couldn't even finish it and had to take the leftovers home, which was a nice. The staff was really friendly and made us feel welcome the whole time. Overall, I had a great experience, and I'd definitely come back. If you're craving authentic Korean soul food, I definitely recommend checking out Mindeulle

This is a tiny "hole-in-the-wall" Korean restaurant -- and it's fantastic! We were 2 couples and these 2 large dishes were enough for all of us plus enough to take home for lunch the next day for 1. I love bossam (steamed pork belly) and I've tried a lot of places. This place could be the best. I didn't know how they get it so tender, but the meat almost falls apart as you touch it. Amazing! The black cod stew is also the best I've had. The broth is perfect -- rich and spicy, but not overwhelming, so you can stuff taste the fish. And they are generous with the fish. I didn't know how many pieces there were ... But plenty for all 4 of us. Seating is limited. I highly recommend!

I was recommended here by a friend and fell in love with the braised fish. I came every so often to get their braised fish and trying other dishes on the menu - cold noodles, seafood pancake, and more. This place is always full of Korean families, so I know the food is authentic. The service is fast and efficient. The Korean aunties servers always make sure to cut up and split the food for you. The vibe is so friendly, it always feels like I'm over at my friend's house dining here. As for the food, everything always tastes delicious! All the side dishes are yummy and pair well with the main dishes. My must-order is the braised cod. It's full of fish with tofu and radish that has been braised in a delicious spicy sauce. The seafood pancake was crispy, and would definitely be better with more seafood. The cold noodle was refreshing, but I think it didn't pair well with the braised fish as it would with grilled galbi. Overall, I highly recommend their braised fish dishes!

very small hole in the wall restaurant. love the service and the food, which is very delicious down to the side dishes! kalguksu is very filling and hearty. i love how large the portion is. i was only able to eat half and had to take the rest to go

It was really savory and healthy.

Def will come here again. I really enjoyed the korean food here. Their banchan was fresh and yummy. It is a bit pricey but I can see why. The quality is great. I usually would drive bsck to ktown in LA but not anymore. Their stinky soybean is sooo good and hearty. If you have elderly grandparents or parents, give this place a chance. More parking in the back. Service is so nice feel like home. Small hole in thr wall.

I always come here with family for Korean comfort food! They have the best menu and atmosphere. It has a hole-in-the-wall type of feel, but it's very cute and cozy. I usually order the 들깨 수제비 because it's unbeatable in terms of flavor. My mum ordered the 곤드레밥, and the presentation for everything is always on point. The side dishes are obviously refillable, so don't be afraid to ask for more. This is my favorite Korean restaurant in the area, and I wish there were more like this!

This restaurant reminded me of Seattle's "The Pike Place Fish Market," where fresh fish has been sold for decades as employees playfully throw fish around. Though this place has been open for 10 years, we were unaware of its existence. Situated in a humble shopping center with a modest square footage, you would never imagine the quality of service and Korean food it offers. When we checked in, the restaurant was nearly full, and the busyness and energy of the staff expressed their confidence and pride in their reputation. We were first served water, and the waitstaff's recommendations already impressed us with the promise of quality and taste. We ordered Braised Black Cod, and SsamJjang Vegetables wrap combination with Spicy Marinated Pork, and Bean Casserole for the three of us to share. The fresh lettuce and vegetables, including green pepper, cucumber, carrots, wild sesame leaves, and steamed cabbage, arrived first. We also had a choice between white rice and mixed grain rice, opting for the healthier option. The presentation and quantity of the food and side dishes were attractive and impressive. When the Spicy Pork arrived, we could already tell it would taste great. The Bean Casserole was also delicious. The awaited Braised Black Cod, which they were very proud of, came last. We didn't have to wait long to encounter one of the restaurant's most popular dishes. The combination of quantity, quality, and taste was outstanding, although it was a little too sweet for one of us. The Black Cod melted in our mouths, and the tofu and radish were incredibly flavorful. We called this kind of food 밥도둑 (Thief of Rice) because it kept making us eat more rice. We were very full and ended up taking the leftovers home. The service was excellent. There might be many people who have never visited this restaurant, but there are likely few who have only been here once. We plan to come back to try other menu items next time. Strongly recommended. Updates on 5/3/2025 Today marked my second visit to this remarkable restaurant, originally recommended by my sister-in-law--and it was even more memorable than the first. This time, we ordered a wide variety of their signature dishes, including braised silver cod (은대구 조림), aged kimchi short rib stew (묵은지 갈비찜), marinated raw crab (양념게장), fermented soybean stew (청국장), and several others. Each dish was rich in flavor, beautifully presented, and reflected the restaurant's commitment to quality. Everyone at our table was thoroughly impressed with the depth and balance of flavors across the board. What stood out just as much as the food was their consistent, energetic service--the staff moved with purpose, warmth, and genuine hospitality, which added so much to the overall dining experience. We were especially fortunate to meet the owner, Jennifer, during our visit. Speaking with her offered a glimpse into the heart and mindset behind the restaurant's success. She shared with us that they had taken over the restaurant from a previous owner who had struggled to make the business work. Hearing this made their transformation even more inspiring. What truly turned things around was Jennifer's vision and mindset--a powerful combination of innovation, attention to detail, quality control, and a complete renovation of the space. Her passion for excellence is evident in every dish and interaction, and it's clear that this success didn't happen by chance--it was earned through intentional change and bold leadership. I was also excited to learn that they have recently opened a second location in Chino Hills, which I hope to visit soon. Although there's been a rumor about a third location in La Palma, I learned that it's not affiliated--it's a completely separate business. This restaurant is a true example of how a change in leadership and mindset can breathe new life into a struggling space. It's now not only surviving but thriving--and I look forward to returning again soon.

This place is listed today as having outdoor seating. Is it still available? If it is, is it covered or heated? How many people can sit there? / April 8, 2023

A few weeks ago I saw one table outside that had a clipboard for writing down your name for the waitlist. People were sitting there before being called inside. This establishment isn't big and isn't good for large groups. Most tables seat 4.

Updating my review to 5 stars since I've been to Sup Noodle Bar several times since my last review…read more The pho is still so delicious. The soup is light and flavorful and meat is so tender. I did end up trying the lomo saltado with another protein (filet) and it was excellent. The meat was so tender and flavorful. I also discovered that you can get free noodles if you're still hungry for your pho, which I have opted to do a few times when I just want one (or two) more bites. The other thing is that it does get super busy during peak time, so I would definitely try to check in when you're closer to the restaurant and maybe run an errand or two if it the wait is long. Bad timing for lunch, too many people were waiting in line, dining inside. We waited for 20 mins at Daiso, another 20 mins outside restaurant. First, the service was awful. Nobody paid attention to us to bring us some iced water, forks, and extra noodles. Normally the servers asked us to refill the noodles, or served fast but today was disaster for us. Other people came later than us but the server served them iced water and took their orders not ours. What happened to us today? We sat at the tiny table in the corner and we barely moved to eat our foods, we ordered 3 items which were 2 beef belly phos and fried rice w shrimps. There was not any rooms available for all the foods including pho toppings, sauces, and other entree. We were not comfortable at all. And also, my wife and I couldn't eat the fried rice w shrimps. How can we eat w chopsticks or deep scoop shaped soup spoon? How hard is everything today? We tried to call the server for 2 forks but no one paid attention. Wow...wow.... I felt bad feeling about this restaurant for the first time. The service, attention, everything was not normal. Waiting time was 15 to 20 mins but we had to wait for 40 mins. Barely sat soooo tiny table. My wife got really upset at the service. She got an email about the lunch special, beef belly pho Mon to Fri 2 days ago. That is why we decided to go to eat today. We regretted to hit the rush hour and got badly treated by the servers. What can I say? Can I say "Do not send an email for promo event?" Really Bad day for us. No respect, no relaxation, no comfort foods.....

Anyways I saw that they had plenty of noodle dishes to choose from so decided to give it a go. Ordered the yukkaejang (spicy braised beef soup) with the rolling dumplings (both kalbi and kimchi). The dumplings were called rolling because I assume they were rolled out and shaped into balls - spherical meat stuffing balls covered with a thin dumpling wrapper. I've eaten dumplings my entire life but this type of dumpling was a first for me so I was very interested in trying this out. Turns out the dumplings were pretty good. It does fall apart pretty easily when picking them up with chopsticks to dip into the sauce which was a bit annoying, so you should be mindful and careful of that if ordering them. The yukkaejang was not the best I've had but it was still pretty good. Prices were fair and the quality of food was solid. I wish they served free water as they make you buy bottles of water if you ask them for water. But with all that being said, I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again.

Unfortunately, while the food was great, the service was offputting to say the least. I understand we are in a strip mall, and I have very low expectations, but the girl serving us was surly and gave the vibe that are very presence was an annoyance to her. Any question we asked was responded with the an exasperated exhale. It clearly angered her that we didn't know how to use her point of service machine and was angry that we tried to order fried chicken, which is apparently not available anymore, but still on the menu so we got yelled at about that too. We tried to pay with the card, but apparently didn't do it right so it got scolded for that too. If the food wasn't so crazy kid, I would not come back but their front staff could take a long walk off a short pier.

The kimchi, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), and gat kimchi are absolutely delicious. I heard that the owner makes everything in-house, and you can really tell how much care and skill go into the food. The staff are also incredibly kind and welcoming every time I visit. Galbitang (Beef Short Rib Soup) - This is honestly the best galbitang I've had in both OC and LA. The broth is rich and flavorful, and the beef is always fresh and tender. Whenever I'm craving galbitang in the OC/LA area, this is the only place I go. Yukgaejang (Spicy Beef Soup) - The amount of ingredients they give you is amazing. I've had it both dining in and as takeout, and it's consistently delicious every single time. It's perfectly seasoned, and has just the right level of spice. As much as I love the galbitang, I think I actually enjoy the yukgaejang even more. Pork Cutlet (Donkatsu) - This place is known for its galbitang and seolleongtang, so I wasn't expecting much from the donkatsu... but why is it this good? The interior is clean, newly built, and has a modern Korean hanok-style look. The servers were also friendly both times, so I didn't have any issues with the service or atmosphere. Unfortunately, the main problem for me was the food. I've eaten at the LA location before and never really thought the food tasted bad there, but at this Buena Park location, both visits gave me the impression that the food didn't taste as fresh as it should. On my most recent visit, I ordered the soondae gukbap, and the soondae had an unpleasant off smell and didn't taste very fresh. It almost tasted like it had been sitting for a while. On my first visit, I tried the regular pork gukbap, and the pork flavor was also stronger than I personally prefer. I do tend to like cleaner-tasting gukbap, but this stood out to me because I don't remember having the same issue at the LA location. After the first visit, I thought maybe it was just an off day since the restaurant was still new. But after having a similar impression on my second visit, I'm not sure if this location is consistent yet. The space is nice and the service was good, but for a gukbap restaurant, the food has to be the main reason to come back. Based on my two visits, this location was disappointing for me.
