Todays breakfadt combo was mid. $9.00 for 1 mentaiko onigiri, pickles and 2 pcs of egg and miso soup. - they shorted me and only gave me 1 egg - the rice was not fresh, maybe day old - they give alot less mentaiko than before (66% LESS) But the pickles were tasty and fresh! The miso soup was nice and hot. I was there 8am maybe next time I will go later to ensure fresher food.

Food: The onigiri was decent--not mind-blowing, but a solid quick bite if you're in the mood for something simple and filling. Service: The workers were super nice and helpful, which made the experience really smooth, especially if it's your first time there. Ambiance: The place is small and split into two sides: a to-go area with a more casual vibe and a seated restaurant-style section. The to-go side has a few seats and uses a self-serve kiosk to order, which makes things pretty easy.

You might miss this place since it's inside Daikokuya Annex! I went on a weekday during lunch time and it was empty (luckily). They have you order through a digital kiosk at the front. I had their three-onigiri combo for $19. Note that there are some onigiri options that are an extra $1 or $2. The person helping me out recommended their beef, karage, and their stamina yakiniku (grilled pork with yakiniku). I opted for the beef, grilled salmon, and unagi options. The beef was sweet, reminded me of Korean bulgogi. The grilled salmon was my least favorite. It was a bit dry to my liking, reminding me of canned fish. The unagi was my favorite, covered in the usual unagi sauce, it had good chunks of eel. All onigiris had a hefty amount of rice, so it gets pretty filling. Not sure if it's for all orders, but mine came with some miso soup, which is always a plus when there's no extra cost for it. I think they make everything on the spot since it did take a bit of time to receive my order with no one else at the restaurant, so I can imagine it taking longer when it does get busier.

ONIGIRI SUN is located in DAIKOKUYA ANNEX. It's like a food hall... you enter, place your order in a kiosk thing and then wait for your name to be called. There are at least 3 different "restaurants" (maybe less? maybe more?)you can order from in the kiosk and ONIGIRI SUN is one of them. Their onigiri selection is very good. We the 3-Piece Combo item where you could pick and choose 3 different onigiris and it came with miso soup. So far, we liked all the onigiris we ordered. Even came back a month later (yes, this review is for two different visits) and we still liked what we got. Spicy Tuna Spicy Salmon Miso Beef Shrimp Tempura Soboro Beef You can dine-in too. There are several tables inside where you can enjoy.

Made a quick snack break here. I'm vegetarian and there were several options on their menu. I really enjoyed my takana onigiri (pickled mustard leaves and sesame oil). I just love Little Tokyo and enjoyed this pop-up food shop.

Came by for a quick snack while exploring LA . It was sorta hard to find because it's actually a pop up in Daikokuya Annex so if you wanna stop by make sure you look for that restaurant!! We ordered the spicy tuna, hokkaido shake, and okaka in a 3 piece combo. It also came with miso soup which was a nice surprise. Each onigiri had a great ratio of rice and filling. When eating each one I never ran out of filling. The quality of the fillings weren't that great though. The tuna and salmon were giving canned fish which would deter me from ordering it again. The okaka had soooooo much bonito though and it was my favorite bite of the meal. It did take a bit for us to take our food so they were making it fresh to order. You are able to dine in but the food will just come in Togo boxes. The restaurant was a little dark and did have an odd smell though so next time I would take the onigiris to eat somewhere else. Overall I would say it's not bad. If I'm in the area and want onigiri I would try other items on the menu. But I wouldn't go out of my way during my trips to LA to come visit it.

Pretty gas. Popup inside Daikokuya Annex. Ordered through screens, onigiri came out fast & rice was fluffy and fresh. Got the mentaiko which was SO delicious and had a nice light amount of spice to it. Def some of the best onigiri I've ever had, clears Rice & Nori (and I love Rice & Nori).

Polite service and simple order system. The onigiri is a large and filling snack or meal on the go. A good option for breakfast if you are staying in Little Tokyo. It opens early at 8:00 am.

The onigiri that I purchased were so delicious! The unagi was so flavorful and abundant. It must've had a whole eel in there and the rice was so soft. The sauce wasn't too sweet and had the right amount of savory. The ikura with the salmon flakes was good too and I got another one but can't remember the combination. I got the 3 set but, I'm not sure if this is a common order. It is a little pricey but, it's worth it cause the onigiri is huge! Enough for 2 people if you reckon to split it. The gentleman that took my order was really nice and told me it would take about 20 mins to make which, didn't bother me cause then I knew it was gonna be fresh! I wish the parking situation was a little better and they had a full sit down restaurant but, if I'm ever back in little Tokyo (and I go often) I will definitely go back for the unagi

I've had onigiri before, but never as good as this. Most places sell them premade and cold, but here you get them made to order and fresh. Located on the Daikokuya Annex, you can order the onigiri here via kiosks. The dining area is casual with some tables to dine in for a quick bite or you can take your order to go. Let's talk about the onigiri. The rice is warm, the toppings and fillings fresh, and the portions are generous. You can order them individually or in combos of 2 or more (they also have catering!) and the combos come with a miso soup. I also like that you can customize them. Most onigiri have one filling, but with customizations you can add a second filling or topping. The kiosk offers complementary recommendations and those are the ones I chose. Not including the customizations, they have thirteen different onigiri to choose from. They have meat, seafood, vegetarian, and vegan options. I tried a few different ones including the soboro beef (+ add shiitake), stamina yakiniku, mentai mayo cream cheese, Hokkaido shake salmon (+add mentaiko), shiitake, and honey umeboshi. They were equally delicious and unique; I really loved how creamy the mentaiko mayo cream cheese was as that texture was different from the rest. They also have a selection of drinks and some desserts. They have soft drinks, canned teas, and coffee drinks. As a coffee lover, I had to try it. It's actually not coffee, but a brown rice "coffee" drink. I liked the flavor as it resembled a tea latte. It contained soy milk and was sweetened with kuromitsu - a syrup that tasted like maple. They serve a custard that has that syrup as well as a matcha tiramisu.

Onigiri Sun become permanent extension now. Part of Daikokuya Annex. Bishamon Group. They offer the limited ramen menu to go. Nice option instead of waiting long line next door at the main restaurant. Onogiri menu good as usual. I think it's better than soft opening. Better package and presentation. Always come with miso soup. Very salty. Service is quite fast. Ambiance is nice sit down dinner with plenty of space. 2 restroom at the back

Onigiri sun from Japan Price range $6.50-7 Wait time: can be a of a long wait if you're rushing to go. It's around 15-25 min, depending how busy they are. We ordered Tuna and Mentaijo. I feel that it was ok. The rice does fall off the ball, which beats the purpose of the shape. I felt that both were a tad bit salty, but it was decent pairing with rice. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE SobBeef and Grilled Salmon (Hokkaido shake). It was so good. It's the ones that is on display. I should have gotten that both times. It's perfectly seasoned, not too salty. It's so good with the Japanese rice and Miso Soup if you pick the 2 combos. It's kinda like a Togo place that serves food in Togo containers but you can eat inside. There are tables which you can sit. Location: inside Daikokuya Annex Order from the 2 Kiosk. If you order 2 or 3 Oniguri, they give you free miso. The miso is so good with the Oniguri.

So yummy and I need them to extend their pop up!!! You can't find this variety of onigiri anywhere. The yakiniku and takana + mentaiko were delicious. The tuna was classic but could use a bit more flavor to standout. The rice makes a big portion of the quality of rice balls. Super fluffy and tasty. I really like their coffee made out of rice. First time ever trying it and it's light and fairy sweet. I still felt the caffeine I needed as well. I will definitely make another trip soon!!
