I ordered a Bloody Maria (basically a Bloody Mary made with tequila), and it was really good. For an appetizer, we got the Grilled Corn Ribs, and wow--they were so tasty. We couldn't stop talking about how good they were. For our entrées, we ordered the Double Stacked Cheeseburger and the Cavatelli pasta. I really enjoyed the pasta. The flavor was delicious, and while the noodles were a bit thicker than I expected, it was still a great dish. My partner wasn't the biggest fan of the burger because of the Southwestern pimento cheese, but the fries were excellent! I tried the burger myself and honestly thought it was still pretty good. It was also my partners birthday so they brought a cute little dessert! Overall, we had a great experience. Our waiter, Jose, was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service. I tried to order an alcoholic drink and got declined for "looking young". I'm well beyond the age of 21 and I showed them my ID. Why would anyone ever bring a fake ID to drink at a Bushfire Kitchen in Menifee? Christ. However, I'm mostly annoyed at how avoidant the staff was about it. I waited for my drink, followed up, then they sheepishly explained to me that they "just can't give me the drink because I seem a bit young". That's fine. Just stop avoiding it. It's also not lost on me that a big factor of that is probably because of my ethnicity. On top of that, I had to inquire if they had an ID scanner and they said no. I had to ask for the receipt myself of them refunding it (allegedly) so at least I could make sure that I was given my money back for the drink they declined me. Wouldn't recommend this place at all. Be it from the initial contact, to cleaning up the plates and floor to interacting with customers, Wendy is there and is a plus to Panaea. The young employee who handed me my order was unfriendly from start to finish. When I walked in, I wasn't greeted with a simple "Good morning." Despite me smiling, being polite, and thanking her when I picked up my order, she never smiled once, avoided eye contact, and responded with nothing more than an indifferent "uh-huh." I understand everyone has bad days, but basic courtesy and professionalism are part of working in customer service. A friendly greeting, eye contact, and acknowledging a customer's thanks are the bare minimum, especially for someone spending $75 on an order. Panera should do a better job training employees on customer service or be more selective in who they hire for customer-facing positions. Experiences like this make customers feel unwelcome and less likely to return.
