Sad to leave this review because I love Hana Sushi and have always had good experiences. First time trying this location. I was here on June 30th with my daughter. Seated at a booth that had not been cleaned well and a spilled drink on the floor so bad they my shoe kept sticking. I let the waitress know and she just said sorry about that. Didn't offer to clean it or move us even though it was not that busy. Several tables had not been properly wiped down and random trash on the floor. Had 2 different waitresses. Had to ask for low sodium soy sauce twice, finally had to get up and go get my own from the hostess. Never filled or came to check waters, more interested in socializing at the sushi bar with the cooks. Sushi was unimpressive and pricey. Needless to say, we will not be coming back to this location. My family and I go here couple times a month, the food is fantastic! However last Saturday 08/25/18, I ate at the bar by myself and my credit card company charged me $87.36. Every time we come the server and service is spotty. We had incredible service by a young man named Mason (maybe I'm wrong but think that was his name). Busy Valentine's Day and excellent service. We love this place and was worth the wait for our table, surprisingly the wait was only 15 to 20 minutes, on a Valentines Day Dinner. First of all they do not do AYCE (All You Can Eat) it's order per item on menu. At first we wanted to sit at the bar, if you are a regular sushi goer you want to sit at the bar so you can get your sushi quick. But at Hana Sushi, their Sushi Chefs gets it out served to you at the tables quickly. We ordered four orders at a time and it took 15 minutes for our sushi orders to arrive at our table and that's on a Valentines Day! We had order eventually 12 orders from nigiri, maki and sashimi sushis and some fried calamari. It was all presented excellently and tastes was outstanding. Hana Sushi has five locations in the Menifee, Murrieta and Temecula areas. This place just opened last summer and business is booming, come check it and experience it for yourself. read more

We waited around for a place to sit down... And we waited and waited some more. The place was semi packed. All hands were on deck, but they got busy doing other things. Understandable, but then again we felt like we were forgotten. Finally sat down but it took 15 minutes to get to that point. We ordered our food. It was about 40 minutes before we got our first rolls. A hand roll and a tuna roll. Then another 15 minutes passed before the rest of our rolls came out. We ordered 5 rolls. Customers that came in way after us was getting their food. We ordered 2 Miso soups that never came out and we got charged for. It took another 10 minutes to get our soups after we paid. After going by this place on numerous occassions we decided to stop in. Not too may sushi places in Menifee. I had some minor doubts from some reviews regarding service. But we went on a Sunday afternoon, anyway. First the aroma of the food, catches you. Then the clean, and pleasant decor. The host was polite, and smiling. We were seated at a table, with a great view of the sushi bar. The fish looked gorgeous. Our drink orders arrived promptly, and our waiter was courteous, helpful and pleasant. We ordered the Baked Green Lipped Mussels as an appetizer, followed by the "Rainbow Roll" and two of the meal in bento boxes, Teriyaki Chicken with Tempura, and salad/sticky rice. The food came out quite quickly and was plated beautifully. The staff immediately brought plates, fresh ginger, and wasabi. The food was wonderful. Generous portions on the Rainbow Roll, and the large combo entrees. The mussels were very good, perfectly baked and presented. Bring your appetite. We didn't begin to finish the main entrees but took the rest home. Given the excellent service we received and the outstanding food, I am not sure why anyone would give this place a negative or even mediocre review? Perhaps they had a change of staff that was an issue at one point. If so , we certainly didn't see it on our visit. You can BET we will be going back. It is not "low priced" so be prepared to bring some money. The rolls range from about 12.00 to 20.00 each but serve two people. Worth it, every penny. Oh I wanted it to be better. Came on a late Sunday afternoon. Surprisingly it was very busy. Something I like to see. We were seated quickly and the server was immediately there to greet us. Our first impression was great. The service was excellent and friendly. Our tempura and edamame appetizer as well as our spicy tuna hand rolls were fresh and very tasty. The tuna was abundant in the handrolls. Then came the two rolls we ordered. The Scotty's Roll and the Sunshine Roll. Not good at all! Each seemed to have a filler of cucumber and a topping that had a heavy vinegar flavor. We could not finish them and because of such did not order anything more. The sushi cut on the rolls is so big that you cannot eat one slice in one bite. Trying to fit it in your mouth causes everything to fall apart. Upon looking at the menu we noticed that most sushi rolls came with cucumber. Uhhhhrrrr. Lastly, insult to injury, was the check. Two handrolls, two sushi rolls, one tempura and one edamame and NO ALCOHOL came with a tab of $78.00. Having lived in Japan for two years, and being a sushi fan, I know what good sushi is! Having said that, I can say that Hana Sushi is my go-to local sushi place. The fresh rolls are always delicious and many of them stick to traditional combinations. This place also has a decent selection of Japanese beers (just about all of them that you can get in America) and they also serve hot and cold sake for those that are into it. I stayed in an Airbnb nearby and this place was recommended by the host. We came late on a Friday evening and immediately were sat. The servers we encountered were super friendly and attentive. My friend ordered some tower (I can't remember the name now) and I ordered the chicken teriyaki and assorted tempura. I'm quite obsessed with shrimp tempura and when I asked how many came in the "assorted" tempura with my combo, he said one with some mixed veggies. When I told him I was excited for the one, he offered to make the whole assorted side all shrimp! This man made my whole night - they were SOOO good! My friend said her sushi was good as well and even gave her the other miso soup to-go (because it came with two and she only had one while dining in). The surprises from the servers didn't stop there either. At one point, another server even walked by and re-situated the tower to equally face both me and her! I am a big sushi enthusiast so I decided to eat here with my boyfriend after having many successful times ordering take out. We had ordered gyoza and a roll that had eel in it and a salmon skin roll without avocado His meal came out first, he figured that he could wait a bit to eat because mine would come out right after. After about 20 minutes I just told him to eat his roll and I'd catch up when mine comes out. Another 30 minutes passed seeing people receive their food that had come in after us; he asked to see the manager about my food. They had made my roll with avocado and had to make a new one without letting me know until after he talked to the manager. After being seated and looking over the menu, it took 10 minutes for us to get service and to have our orders taken. Not good. While waiting for our food to come, we noticed other disgruntled tables. A common theme was slow service and missing dishes. Not a surprise, because the restaurant was really understaffed. Food is very mediocre. Rolls are nearly all imitation crab stuffed. Fish varieties are limited and cuts are small. No stand out flavors. Overall, we will not go back. Not worth the wait, quality, or price.
