FINALLY: Because of the COMMENDABLE attitude provided by Sergio, Mia and Rocio I decided to rewrite my review. LASTY: (I have said it before) going out to a restaurnat is all about the experience, sometimes the food is not the best but when GOOD CUSTOMER CARE prevails a consumer can overlook bad food. Their tsukemen is worth trying, especially with the spicy option. Thick noodles, concentrated dipping broth, and enough heat to make a cool day feel a little warmer. If you want to keep it classic, go with the miso or shoyu ramen. Add some gyoza and chicken karaage to the table and you have a pretty good meal. Nothing needs to be complicated. Walk the old streets. Look through a few antique shops. Let the fall air get a little cold. Then find a bowl of hot ramen. Some meals taste better because of where you had them.

I'm so glad I gave it another try. We returned last night and sat at the sushi bar for the omakase, and the entire experience was excellent. The service was warm, attentive, and welcoming, and the omakase was fantastic from beginning to end. Each piece was beautifully presented and thoughtfully prepared, with a great variety of fish, textures, and toppings. The fish tasted incredibly fresh, and several of the pieces were absolutely beautiful, especially the richer tuna and toro pieces and the delicate white fish. I also really enjoyed the traditional style of the experience. At the sushi bar, the first 10 pieces are chef's choice, and the focus is very much on the fish rather than elaborate American-style rolls. The progression of the omakase felt intentional, and it was fun seeing what would come next. Most importantly, the quality and service were completely different from the experience I wrote about all those years ago. It's only fair to update a review when a restaurant deserves it, and Ohshima absolutely did on this visit. We had a wonderful dinner and I would happily return. This was a complete turnaround for me and easily a five-star experience.
