This ramen place was not bad. The thin noodles in my ramen were cooked just right. There's not as much broth as other ramen places serve and though the flavor was good it wasn't as rich as I like. Also note that while it says they serve sushi, it's not sushi. They only have rolls. The fried chicken pieces and shrimp tempura from appetizer menu were okay. I've been here twice, a week apart from each other. The first time we came was on a Saturday night, Oct 5th. The customer service was okay, me and my date ordered ramen and the fried sushi roll (las vegas roll). The sushi roll stole the show, it was well portioned thought out the roll with rice to filling ratio. Perfectly fried and the right amount of cream cheese. The second time me and my date came back, was solely came for the sushi roll which was this last Saturday. The worst experience because not did the sushi roll taste different, it was also a different in size. The sushi chef skimped on the cream cheese, it is supposed to have a good amount of cream cheese in the roll and there was some on half of the roll and none on the other side. When date went to go tell the sushi chef that the roll had barely any cream cheese, the sushi chef argued then proceeded to give him a container full of cream cheese on the side. We should have taken a photo but we were hungry and over the whole situation. When I'm choosing a restaurant to spend my money on, I choose places that are not only consistent but that know how to properly train their staff to handle an unsatisfactory delivery of their food as that's something that customers are coming for and paying for. I went with their build your own ramen. Went along with their tonkotsu broth with thick noodles, chasu, green onion, bean sprouts, half soft egg, spinach, and extra noodles. It was so flavorless. The size of the bowl was pretty small too especially for the price. Also got their thai tea and it was pretty decent. Service was pleasant, however, it took forever to flag someone down for the bill. Truly disappointed by this ramen spot. I was excited to try a local ramen shop with over 1K reviews. The ramen itself is way overpriced. It was salty but not flavorful. Toppings were really lacking. Chashu Pork was dry and had no fat or flavor. On to the positives! The place is clean and they have a QR code to order and pay for your food. Food came out quickly and their bowls were nice. This place has been on my list for a while. Located in Orange Circle this restaurant has some outdoor seating but most is inside. Currently they have the ability to place your order through the QR code or a server can place the order for you. My friend and I decided to split the Egg Rolls and the pink salt edamame. Both were delicious, I loved the sauce with the eggrolls. I ordered the vegan Ramen and added crunchy onion. It was super delicious and I added some Sriracha before eating. The servers were really nice, the food delicious and overall a wonderful experience. Hope to come back again and try the spicy vegan Ramen! read more

We were both rather disappointed with the whole experience - from arrival to order to the meal itself to the service. It's safe to say we'll never go back. Now, to be fair, we did arrive during a massive Old Town Orange street fair, in which the entire downtown area was overrun by tents and booths and pedestrians and stages. We had no idea the fair was going on, but we managed to make our way through the crowds in order to make our way to Hanano. The restaurant was open, and they had a self-serve wait list at the front (read: notepad on a clipboard). We added our name to the list, then stepped back outside, to avoid clogging the entrance, since there was no space to wait indoors. We finally went back inside to ask about seating, and were shown to a table by an unfriendly waitress. Menus were plopped down in front of us and we were left to peruse. After waving down the waitress to signal we were ready to order (twice, no less), I went with the Dan Dan Men ($11.95) and my husband ordered the Tsukemen ($12.95). Oh, forgot to mention - the Tsukemen was the reason we chose to stop at Hanano that weekend. My husband had been craving Tsukemen, and we were mildly surprised to find that it's served at two restaurants in OTO. We ordered the Pan Grilled Gyoza ($5.95) to start. The gyoza came out first, and was piping hot and plump. They were generously filled, though the filling itself was a bit bland. The wrappers were expertly seared, giving a nice crunch to balance the soft dough at the top, and it didn't fall apart when biting down. The gyoza was absolutely the best thing we ate that night. I was so interested in the Dan Dan Noodles. It's a favorite dish at one of our go-to San Diego restaurants, so I was eager to see how this one stacked up, and to experience all the lovely sesame flavors. What I got instead was a broth that was overwhelmed by a chili oil - one that was hot only to be hot, not to add flavor. It was practically caustic, and made it impossible to enjoy the meal. To cut to the chase, I ended up throwing $12 away on a meal I could not enjoy, and refused to eat. Not to say I didn't try - I was starving by that time, and I didn't want to be wasteful. But every noodle came up coated in the caustic oil sauce, and the pork tasted more like beef than ground pork. Though my husband didn't love the tsukemen (he's comparing to the dish that was served at a restaurant that's no longer in existence), he was able to finish it. He said the chashu pork had really good flavor, but that the broth was smoky-seafoody, which really threw him for a loop. The evening ended with us playing the "how many times do we have to try to flag down our waitress to get her attention?" game (three, this time) in order to pay and get out. It was a waste of time and money, and I definitely do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Food: I've taken out from and dined in at Hanano and have generally been pleased with the quality of the food. The black garlic ramen has a tasty, rich broth. The noodles are packed separately from the broth to accommodate take out orders. I've ordered the takoyaki and Hanano buns dining in. Both apps came out piping hot. The takoyaki were crunchy on the outside and super creamy inside with plenty of bonito and sauce. The Hanano buns are your standard modern take on a bao bun but tasty nevertheless. The matcha milk tea was a huge disappointment, however. I decided to order it after reading others' reviews but the drink had none of the vibrant color or flavor of quality matcha. The one that is easiest to make but also easiest to please." Enter the humble avocado roll. Takes less than two minutes and costs less than $1 to produce. Commonly ordered by sushi noobs or vegetarians looking to fill up cheap. It's a no brainer. Just avocado, wrap and rice. But not here. Oh no. This abomination is literally... get this... a whole jalapeño with seeds, sliced in half and rolled. There is rumored to be an avocado shmeer in between the peno slices but good luck finding it. So much so that a hot sauce junkie who would crush it on Hot Ones had to stop mid roll, take this picture, write this review then throw it away. Do better hanano, the circle deserves better. We went to this restaurant lastnight.(09/05/25) since it had a 4 star rating. The restaurant was small and clean. The food was alright. We got the chicken ramen and red garlic ramen. The chicken was so hard to bite into. It also had a weird aftertaste. We had ordered the spicy tuna crispy rice as an appetizer and the server asked if we still wanted it cause it was taking a while to be made. We said its fine and that we didnt want it anymore since we were almost done with our ramen. After getting home I got sick and threw up. I didnt want to assume it was from the food. But, Im still throwing up today(09/06/25) and my boyfriend has been feeling sick and was in the restroom all day. And that was the only thing we've eaten since. Could be the bad chicken?
