If I lived in the area, I would make this my regular spot. Also, this complex has free and easy parking. This is the aftermath of my awful experience here. No nails, cut down to the bed,super thin. My birthday is tomorrow and I was looking forward to getting pretty nails. Booked appt for gel x full set with I think her name is Angel at 4:30 today? I immediately was disappointed by the fact that the $29 highly advertised pedicure add on was a tiny foot bucket with soap, so I respectfully declined. Then as I'm sitting down picking colors, the girl Angel comes over, no smile, no greeting and just asks what I want. So I show her pictures of almond gel x French tip that I've gotten in the past. I let her know my size and shape preference by the reference photos and we proceed. I'm thinking all is well until we get to the size of the nail. I let her know from the start, I would like slender, sharp but not super long because I work keyboard. She rudely says, your nail beds are too short, I won't be able to do the shape in the photo, it's not possible. We proceed, despite the shape not being my preference but I was just happy to atleast get my nails done after a long day at work. As she puts the full set on, I softly ask if she could make it a little sharper/thinner because I don't like the roundness. Maybe I had offended her, but from that point on it was dead silent and I could feel like she was annoyed. Completely disregarding my wants, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and we proceeded. I pick 3 colors from their ring of like 100 choices, which is extremely hard to look through, and guess what? They don't have ANY of the colors I chose, but she decided to tell me last minute and rummages in the back for 10 minutes. Finds 3 colors that look awful and nothing like what I picked, and was rude about it the entire time. If it wasn't for her attitude I probably would have let her continue, but at that point I had had enough. I let her know I would no longer like to continue and that I will go to front desk to see what my options were. I let front desk (older lady with white hair) know that I was not happy with my nails and that I would like to know how much to take them off or to keep the unpainted gel x on atleast since it's my birthday tomorrow. The girl that did my nails comes over and starts to talk over me, giving her side of the story when I had to tell her, I'm sorry but it wasn't just the nails, it was your demeanor and attitude from the start. She then says "I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to Frontdesk." No apologies or empathy at all. I chose to ignore her rather than escalate. Frontdesk had to call the owner and ask, from there my options were to either take off for free (damage to nail bed) or pay $35 for my unpainted gel x that had the wrong shape. I chose to take them off. The lady that took the nails off was very sweet and considerate so I ended up tipping her, but whoever that nail tech girl was, apparently she was having a bad day. As a guy, that whole masculinity complex shows up when even considering going to a nail salon. I wanted to get the dry/dead skin on the bottom of my foot removed hence was the reason why I was searching for a spot to go to. I've now gone here 3 times and each time the pedicure has been awesome and nonjudgmental. Highly recommend getting one from these people because they are efficient and nice and they help calm the nerves (I know that sounds funny). I booked an acrylic appointment, and the nail tech asked if gel was wanted. At our usual nail salon, "gel" refers to gel polish with acrylics , so it seemed like a simple polish preference. Apparently, they meant Gel-X instead, which doubled the cost. When I called to address the miscommunication, I spoke with the manager, Elizabeth, who was incredibly dismissive and refused to take any accountability or offer a solution. Her attitude was very clear, customer satisfaction is not a priority here. I've been coming to hands to hold for years and wouldn't go anywhere else. During Covid I was so sad that I had to get other salons and could not WAIT for them to open again. Going to other salons really opened my eyes too. I always knew hands to hold was super clean, but never realized how clean it was compared to other spots. I always feel safe as they are doing my nails. I've also never had issues making appointments. Chris and Carla will always try to fit me in, but are realistic about it. Other salons I tried will squeeze me in even when they can't, and I end up waiting 40 minutes, and getting switched from person to person. At hands to hold, I can always get the appointment time I want in advance, and if it is last minute (day of, day before) they are always as accommodating as possible, and I know I have to be flexible since they are busy! On top of all of that, I always get great manicures. Everyone does a great job, but I always go to David for my gel manicures (last me 2 weeks) and will go to anyone for a pedicure (last me about a month). I have never been so disappointed, enraged and disgusted by a place of business in my life. I wrote the above review a while back and received a very nice call from the owner Ronnie. He apologized for his receptionist's behavior and that he was going to deal with it. He said that he has other locations and had been doing this for a long time and this is not what he stands for. He also said he was going to leave a gift card for $100 at the front desk for me to use. He said he wanted to extend a gift as an apology but also so that this would encourage me to come back and have a better experience. I have never been contacted by an owner before after writing a review so I thought this was incredibly kind and really made me want to give this place another try. I wasn't able to return for a while but I did and when I made the appointment I spoke with Chris and she was very lovely and I had a much better experience. I even brought my friend with me who also took their card and had planned to go in for a mani and pedi for an upcoming trip. I used $60 of the gift card and I tipped $10 of my own money to the manicurist. I checked out with Chris, who again, even after this recent experience is the best part of this salon. She was so kind and I think she needs to find another job that respects their staff and customers. Anyway, Chris checked me out and said that the system was not letting her put the additional $40 amount on a new gift card but she wrote on the back of it and put it in the system that I still had a balance on the card so I could use it when I came back. I took the card and went on my way. Cut to last week! I call to make an appointment for a gel manicure and a spa pedicure for an upcoming event I had. Mind you the gift card I have would not have covered the entire amount for my appointment but I had a better experience the last time so I fully planned on continuing to go to the salon. But I would like her to let him know that if he would have asked me to update the review that I would have done that, but to withhold it from me with out any communication regarding the matter is completely unethical and unprofessional. I told her to let him that know what I will is update the review to reflect this current experience. The entire time she cutting me off and talking over me. I kept asking her to let me speak but she just wouldnt let up! I said, "Carla, you are so rude and unprofessional, and you are the reason for the intial reveiw. This was my first time here. My usual nail place is far and I needed a place closer. Counter lady was nice. Chairs seemed old, but atmosphere seemed ok. I liked the running water on the wall. I wanted an acrylic fill with Gel polish I showed up on time and then was told to sit and wait. Which I did for 25 minutes. No one came over to say anything to me. And 25 minutes!! At 20 min in, I was asked if I want to buy a massage. I told the nail lady I was waiting for my appointment that started 20 min ago. They were shocked but pointed to a guy still working on some other women's nails. 5 min later he came over to work on my nails. So 25 min after my set appointment time, my service started. The guy was nice but he seemed to be rushing through everything. I didn't see the color I wanted on the Gel nail selections, so the counter lady said she had a solution and plucked one out from somewhere on the wall. The shape I wanted on my nails was wrong, the guy tried but didn't get it right at all. The length of all the nails aren't the same either. The polish feels slightly sticky if that makes sense. My nails don't have the smooth feel, I usually have after getting gel polish. My cuticles are not great either. Maybe this guy was over booked, or on a time crunch. That's how it felt. He was nice tho. So I won't be returning here at all, and will continue hunt for a closer nail place. read more

**UPDATE** to address the owner (see for yourself what you're getting into at this salon): you have now publicly proven my entire post to be true and, additionally, proven yourself a liar. I never ONCE asked or received a discount for anything. I was ROBBED by paying for a gel manicure and receiving half of one and never having it rectified despite it being YOUR salons fault. The pics of the work done speaks for itself. You can't even be bothered to spell my name right, despite my spelling it for you to input in the system and paying by credit card with my name on it-so again, proving how little you care about customers. You have no integrity and you sadly give my fellow people a bad name by being cheap and nasty (yes, I heard you speak in our native tongue). When you feel your only recourse is to lie in response to an accurate Yelp review, we can all smell the desperation and see how you fail...not to mention we are all watching your star rating come down, down, down. It's truly no wonder. Where do I start? I really wanted to love this nail salon...and in my times visiting I did come to love one of the nail techs named Jenny (she's hilarious and wonderful), but I also came to learn that she's the only person there that can give a good mani or pedi. Let me define "Good" as meaning a gel mani that lasts at least 2 weeks, which should be expected for the price and compared to all other salons. All this said, I had to draw the line when one of the nail techs simply forgot to give me the top sealing coat for my gels, and so within 2 days half the nails were chipped (all looked dull and my other hand shiny and normal). Within 4 days, even the properly sealed nails were chipping, which is RIDICULOUS. I called immediately the day of the mani and left a message detailing their mistake. After 4 days I received a return message to schedule an appointment for them to fix the issue. I don't have the luxury of popping back for this- I have a 2 year old and non stop work so need my husband to be home and fully available, generally only happens once a week on weekends. So, 2 weeks later I did schedule for a Sunday slot I could make. When I arrived, I reiterated the situation- this time to the owner of the salon, who I was meeting for the first time. His "solution" was to offer me a 10% discount on the brand new mani. Keep in mind that 2 weeks after paying full price for my half a manicure, all my nails looked like shit, which i showed him. He said they would have just applied a top coat and "I can not give you the service free"...to which I reminded him it certainly wasn't free, I paid in full and never actually got my full service, so he owed it to me. I also indicated that they would have had to repair that entire hand since the polish was all chipped. That's half a mani already and I would have asked for repairs on the chipped ones on the other hand as well. He was rigid, rude and refused to budge more than 20% discount, which, let's be real, doesn't even cover the gas these days to get there and back! I was obviously not happy about being robbed, and refused to give them more of my money for another gel mani. My friend was with me and so I opted to move forward with my pedi. The nail tech was terribly sloppy, removed part of the polish with her own hand and simply tried to paint over it rather than re do that nail. It created a lumpy mess. I had to ask multiple times to get her to fix it and she tried to convince me it was fine when I could see how terrible it looked. I showed the owner that, as well as my feet after paying for the callous removal - they were still calloused and my heels left dirty- which is just unacceptable. He agreed, but...big BUT...did absolutely nothing, not even an offer to fix the issue. Simply said he was notating not to use that person the next time- ummm, what did he not understand about there will be no next time?! In any case, he threw me a bone and comped me a regular mani (done by David), and these pics show what that looked like the very next day, less than 24 hours later. So, I've tried a variety of their nail services and can honestly say it's shoddy work, and the owner knows it and doesn't care. He takes zero pride in what they do and that's crystal clear from my conversations with him. Customers are seen as a quick buck, and there was no desire to rectify the situation in a satisfactory way. I could have been convinced to stay loyal to Jenny, but, I'm happy to say that I can now ditch this place forever with zero guilty conscience. My friend will as well given what she witnessed, and said she would let her 2 sisters know to stop using this salon as well. Bottom line: they don't stand behind their services. They don't care about their customers. You deserve better when you're spending $50-100 to get a mani/pedi. There's no shortage of great nail places around here, and the short-sighted guy who runs this place oughta care about that. read more

I love Hands to Hold. Mostly because of the vibes - easy parking, big airy clean salon, great people watching. The girls at the front are SO funny. All the techs are super sweet. Affordable. Can leave tips on your card. Lots of colors. Always busy (def call for an apt) but always on time. I think you need to request a spa chair pedicure if you want that otherwise you just get a bucket. My only other request is that they change up their 80s / 90s soft rock music but otherwise for sure have found my place. Quality is on par with every other salon! I've been coming here for years, and each time the quality of my gel manicures goes down. The staff here have worked here so long they do a less than average job, not wiping the sides of the nail so it catches and chips the paint immediately & not putting enough coats on (I currently have purple polish that is so transparent I can see my nail under the color). Sometimes the staff seems to be lazy and distracted looking everywhere but my nails and the job they are performing in the moment. I'm tired of the lazy-poor services here. There are plenty of other nail places out there that does a significantly better job than here. I am so happy with my nails. I called the salon at 12pm asking if they could get me in for a bail correction. Yes, a correction. I had gone to a place in North Hollywood called Jenny's Nail Studio and Jenny did the worst manicure on me that I've ever had. So I was frantic to get my nails fixed ASAP!!! when I called the salon the woman working the phone was so kind and gave me a 530 appointment with their nail tech named VU! I arrived and was immediately taken care of. Vu what did my nails and made the professional decision to start my nails from scratch which I am so glad that he did. He did white and pink powder full set on my nails. My nails are smooth styled perfectly there are quite literally no flaws whatsoever. He really perfected my nails and was efficient and high quality. My boyfriend and I decided to also get pedicures and I will say that was my biggest complaint that they only had two spa chairs my boyfriend sat in one of them but as I was getting my nails done I got a pedicure at the tech station which isn't the best in my opinion. I really didn't mind it though because the woman who did my pedicure really worked out some knots in my feet and my pedicure came out beautiful. There is a price difference if you get a pedicure in the spa chair vs at the nail tech station. $22 at nail tech chair, $28 if you sit in spa chair. there's nothing else that differentiates the pedicures so that price jump is kind of silly. I paid for a fill in, the powder, one "regular" pedicure" and one spa pedicure" total was $122 after tip. I will definitely go back to Vu for a manicure but I would probably not go for a pedicure there are other salons that have plenty of spa chairs and don't have price differences depending on where you sit! The team here is nice and really accommodating, I needed my nails done and short notice and they got me in quickly but the overall experience for what you pay was not what I expected. My cuticles were barely treated, the color I selected ultimately did not match, and the finish on it was poor. There are clearly spots where the top layer missed spots and it's rough and chipping quickly and the overall polish job was sloppy. The person who did my nails also stood up abruptly, went outside and smoked, and came back to finish my nails. I also sat next to a pedicure stool that had nail clippings not cleaned off it It sounds like experiences vary by who you get, but for what you pay here it should be consistent. read more

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!! I am sorry to say that they have gone downhill and that their prices have gone through the roof. The services that they provide are way below what one would expect to pay for the exorbitant prices that they charge. I received a gel-x manicure, and after less than 2 weeks, it began lifting. When I called to request that it be repaired, the manager stated, "what do you expect me to do? I can't comp you. It has been almost 2 weeks." I informed her that a $60 gel x should last longer than 2 weeks - at which point she arrogantly and rudely told me that "perhaps I shouldn't get a gel-x" As far as the callus remover, I understand paying an additional $8 on top of the $25 pedicure for the service. But, what is the good of paying for the additional remover, if you are only going to put on the product, and then not going to leave it on and do any work to remove the callus. I have been going to Hands to Hold for over 20 years. There are plenty of other manicure/pedicure places along the Boulevard. I have been searching for a scrupulously clean, friendly, technically competent nail salon for the past year. I know, I know that is a tall order but a girl can dream! From the moment I first walked in (have been coming weekly the last 4 weeks), the reception staff have a huge smile and SO welcoming.
