    Outdoor seating; ordering/pick-up counter

    - Monday afternoon take-out lunch - Quick service: busy with online orders; my order was ready by the anticipated pick-up time - Tiny establishment with kitchen behind the take-out counter: a few tables available for outdoor seating - Handsome rice platter with purple rice: a lot of rice; decent amount of meat; could use more of the pickles, veg and sauce; thought there'd be avocado based on the business owner photos (though those are a bit dated) - Meats are well seasoned, but chicken was dry - While portion size was good, felt pricey overall at $22 for a rice platter: would be more appealing if it was a few dollars cheaper or add in a bit more meat - Would maybe come back to try other, less expensive options like the burgers

    Galbi - Korean Beef BBQ

Handsome rice is a solid Korean to-go spot in Kips Bay! It's a really small store with a few tables for outside seating but the food has big flavor. I tried the galbi rice one evening and the guy working there cooked it fresh for me. It was super tender, sweet, and had that charred flavor you'd get from kbbq. The portion was very reasonable and price wise it's good value as most things are under $20. Definitely will be back to try more dishes here!

I did not want to review Handsome Rice for a long time because it's just SO good, I wanted to keep the secret to myself. All other Kalbi pales in comparison. Handsome rice's marinade, cook style and presentation are out of this world. I also love the other veggies it comes with, wish I could order just an extra side of the pickled veggies, but I always end up getting extra broccoli on the side because it is delicious too. Opt for the rice over the salad, I find the salad just arrived a wilted pile. Also the banana pudding is really good!

DOUBLE CHEESE BURGER is great (got mine lettuce wrapped)

Awesome burger! Wow I took a chance on this spot because I was looking for a lettuce wrapped burger and even though it wasn't on the menu, I called and the sweet cashier told me they would accommodate that. And then comes my delivery order - a delicious and very flavorful lettuce wrapped double cheeseburger!! Made my day. The special onions they add to their burgers are really phenomenal. Fries could've used salt but I ordered the kimchee sauce for dipping and that was also fantastic. New go-to burger spot officially unlocked :)

We were visiting from Los Angeles and wanted to try Korean food at least once while we were in NYC. After browsing on Yelp, we thought this place looked unique from the photos for the burgers and the plates. It is a small business with only outdoor seating. We went on a Wednesday afternoon and luckily it wasn't busy at all that we were able to get a seat in one of the insulated tents. The handsome burger was solid - juicy and flavorful. Fries were okay - could have been a little crispier but not soggy, at least. The meats in the handsome rice were all excellent - marinated well and juicy, and combined well together with the different flavors and textures. The sauce that came with the dish was very rich and flavorful and really complimented the meal well. My main gripe would be that the doshirak tray is very small that the meats were overflowing. This made it very difficult to actually get to the purple rice that's below the stack of meat. I would have liked to have mixed the rice, sauce and the meat with the banchan (kinda like bibimbap) but there was just no room to do that, so I had to eat a lot of the meat first before I could actually get to the rice part. Maybe I should have asked for an extra bowl so that I could throw the entire meal in there and mix together but it didn't cross my mind at the time.

Cute little place with outdoor seating but mostly geared toward takeout Service was super fast and we grabbed a spot for lunch. I can see how this would be a hit for office goers in the area Look to spend 20 ish on average with tax. We got the galbi and spicy pork - I mean not that you can go horribly wrong with Korean flavors, this place really did a great job. The meat was nicely seasoned and well cooked. The beef gal I was esp nice. Lots of meat for the price :) The fixings were pretty good - salad, purple rice, kimchi etc No frills, to the point excellent place in short

    Kimchi cream pasta $6.50

What an interesting place. Burgers but also Korean food? I didn't really try any of the main dishes here - I was mainly really intrigued by the side dish of the kimchi cream pasta for $6.50. You order at the counter and pay - tap capable. There's plenty of outdoor seating - it doesn't seem all that clean/well-maintained but it's fine enough. They call out when your order is ready and then you can pick up and eat at one of the tables - I don't believe there is table service. Run by actual Koreans. Kimchi Cream Pasta A wonderful dish - too amazing to be a side dish almost. You get a good amount for a side dish. Nice, high quality macaroni with ridges that hold the sauce well. Actual pieces of kimchi mixed in. A very light amount of cream. The kimchi flavor is warm and soothing, not too spicy yet not too mild. A wonderful fusion of cultural flavors. Fries Too much breading. Too salty. But nicely crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

    Regina X.

Prices are fair and the food is delicious! Such a gem if you love a good burger or Korean fusion. Favorites are their Signature Handsome burger, Kimchi arancini and Creamy Kimchi sauce pasta. Perfect grab and go spot and there is also ample outdoor seating, covered and heated.

Handmade Pork Dumpling & Handmade Vegetable Dumplings- Yum

Was visiting from out of town and decided to stop here after seeing it on Yelp. Handsome Rice is located on a rather quiet street, which is a nice break from the busy city. The goal was a quick and delicious snack before our flight, so we chose the Pork Dumplings and the Spinach and Kale Dumplings. We ordered and had a seat in the covered outdoor area, and our food was ready shortly after! These were by far the best dumplings I had ever had, they had just the right amount of crunch, the flavor was amazing, and the sauce was the perfect addition to the dumplings. Would definitely have loved to give more of their menu a try but sadly it will have to wait till the next time I return to NYC! Highly recommend if you're in the area.

    Doug W.

Can't say I'm thrilled by any of this $30 meal; some aspects of it were alright but at this price and this high a star rating on Yelp, I'm surprised and not pleasantly that all the meat was dry, the quality of service lacked and the overall first impression was such a let down. The salad of potato beet and cauliflower might have been the best part as the pickling in the beet melded amazingly with the wonderful roast on the potato but it was served with a thimble full of sauce and when asking if they had any sauces the guy snapped back "I already put sauce in there" I knew what I was in for and sure enough I was right. I'd still go back n try the burgers though.

A friend recommended this place to me and I got to try their handsome burger, truffle fries, mandu, and kimchi pasta. The restaurant is a small hole in the wall Shop but has a separate outdoor seating area. Everything on the menu is relatively affordable, nothing more than $12. However, the portions are all pretty small, so you'll have to order multiple items to be full. My favorite were the burger, the truffle fries and the mandu. The pasta sizes were 1/4 the size of regular pasta portions in NYC. The workers here are also friendly, and give tou suggestions for the menu.

    Regular handsome burger, $7.50
    Ethan L.

Uninspiring. Like others have mentioned, it's a very small burger. Sure the meat quality is good but the bun, bulky lettuce, and tomato were lacking. The Korean sauce was a boring sweetener that added nothing for actual flavor. It's a plain burger. Also noticed a chair outside was duct taped and missing a few wood slats, and a table that sank because it was missing some screws. Did the owner just give up?

The effortless tranquility encourages you to slow down, enjoy the food, and get away from the everyday, hubbub. Their menu leans into fusion dishes with a nod to some of the classic home-style classics. Everything is presented with a refined, elevated touch. Here's what we ordered: ~ Tako Wasabi - 5/5 stars A fiery delight. This appetizer feartures chopped raw octopus marinated in wasabi. It has a lively zest from the wasabi and is topped with tobiko, which adds a pleasant contrast in texture. ~ Honey Makgeolli - 4/5 stars A traditional fermented Korean beverage that is light and pairs brilliantly with your meal. It is a cloudy alcholoic drink served in a metal teapot, and surprisingly, there is much more in that teapot than you would expect. It easily provides six to eight generous pours. The flavor is subtly sweet with a pleasant tang. ~ Temaki Set - 4/5 stars You can order a set of three by choosing from selections 1-17, or you can order a la carte at the listed prices. Some of the temaki stood out more than others. Our two sets included marinated salmon, bluefin tuna, spicy yellowtail, spicy bluefin, and two dynamite temaki. ~ Spicky Pork Ssam Set - 5/5 stars Truly another standout entree that even surpassed my beloved grilled BBQ bossam. You received a generous basket of assorte greens, including romaine, kale, perilla leaves, dandelion leaves, nappa cabbage, and more. It is well worth the price and makes for a fun, interactive dining experience with your family and friends. There is also various banchan offered and this time, they were beyond kind enough to offer refills. The last time we were here, we ordered just as much food and they stated they normally did not offer refills, which I thought was very odd. With its casual bougie aesthetics, this spot has quickly become one of my favorite eateries in Fort Lee-lee, It beautifully blends Korean, Japanese, and American flavors in a way that feels both comforting and elevated. Needless to say, we will be back!

Opening in 2015 in the heart of Koreatown in Midtown Manhattan, the Korean restaurant, Her Name is…read moreHan, was a great place for my wife and me to come for lunch during our 2nd day in NYC. They have great reviews and it is definitely warranted. The restaurant has a solid website, giving accurate information about the hours and menu. It indicated that weekday lunch time would be a good time to try their value-based lunch menu, letting us sample some of their dishes. We walked over from our hotel just before their opening time of noon, and got in line just as they opened. It was a decent size queue, but the dining space inside was large, and everyone in line was able to be seated (including us). Our main server was Jiwoong, and she was lovely throughout. A carafe of tap water was provided with two glasses, so we could refill our own water (I love this about Korean restaurants...wish other restaurants did something similar). Multiple servers interacted with us throughout, and the beautifully prepared food was delivered exactly on time, with the proper temperature. We ended up ordering 4 things. The non-ipa beer on tap was Ball Lightning Pilsner ($9 for 12 oz) and it was OK. Fried Cod Appetizer ($15) - coming out first, the five chunks of lightly deep fried cod was OK, enhanced by the tartar like sauce. There are four choices from the Lunch Premium Bapsang (a set meal with rice, Japanese equivalent is Teishoku), and we chose two of them. I had the Grilled Atka Mackerel ($19), and my wife had the Spicy Pork BBQ ($21). Both came with white rice, a light bean sprout soup (decent), kimchi (not my favorite), a simple green leaf salad, 3 banchans (loved the fish cakes), some grapes, and a light custard based dessert (which was good). I liked my mackerel, well prepared and fried. The pork was indeed spicy with good flavor. Reading about the restaurant later, learnt that the name came to the founder, meaning two things. 'Han' represents a uniquely Korean emotion of mixed grief, sadness, and hidden resentment...we know that we shouldn't feel this way, but we feel a bit better that other Koreans feel it too. It is also the last name of the founder's mother (most Koreans keep their last name after marriage), so the name is an homage (that's what I read on their facebook page) to her. The restaurant is part of the Resy network, and thus using our AMEX provided a $20 statement credit (once a month...this is my favorite sort of credit since the credit is entirely funded by AMEX, and the restaurant gets their full charged amount). Payment was handled at the table, and we were out in under an hour. As we were leaving, we noticed that there now was a queue to get in, so we came at the right time. In terms of the food, I thought the overall taste was good, but the service, extremely reasonable prices, beautiful presentation, and just the overall atmosphere bumped this up to a great rating.

They advertised themselves as having the best katsu in NYC and they may just be right. With our order it came with a bunch of side dishes. Kimchi, Marconi salad, and mashed potatoes, and others. They were all good. Food came out pretty quick as well. Don't think we waited too long for anything. After we were done they gave us some ice cream. I would absolutely love to come back here again for lunch and probably will.

Tried this spot for Restaurant Week and had a great experience. The $60 three course menu is a…read morereally good value. You get to choose three appetizers, two mains, and one dessert, so it's a great way to try a variety of dishes, especially if you're sharing. The service was friendly and attentive, even though the restaurant was pretty busy. We did have to wait about 20 minutes past our reservation before being seated, but everything went smoothly after that. The restaurant is beautiful inside- liked the interior design choices a lot! My favorite dishes were the asparagus japchae, lotus root gangjeong, and the Korean melon dessert. Overall really enjoyed the meal and would definitely come back to try the regular menu.

Solid Korean spot with a calm, dim interior. We made res for restaurant week as a group of 6, which…read moreallowed us to try a little of everything on their menu. What I got: - Asparagus Japchae: Very good - instead of traditional Japchae noodles, it's sliced asparagus and mushroom. The marinate was delish! - Shrimp Pancake: It was more like an omelette. Not so much of the actual pancake batter. - Spicy Fried Chicken: Nicely fried, standard. The spicy sauce is on the side, which allows us to adjust our bite. - Bossam: I enjoyed this! More Bossam pieces than lettuce, but overall taste of the meat was good. It didn't have the "bland pork" taste. - Pyongyang Cold Noodle: This was my first time having this dish. Seemed pretty traditional. The broth was on the lighter end for me. - Korean Melon: LOVEDD this dessert! A refreshing way to end the meal. The menu denotes cheese, but it wasn't even noticeable. It has a few toasted pine nuts mixed in, which were SOO good. Overall, a very filling meal and worth the $60 restaurant week value! Nothing absolutely blew me away, BUT the flavors were solid and the staff were great. Would come back for another deal!
