I came in around 6:55 PM today and stood at the front to wait for a table. I was the only person in line waiting for a table. Eventually, a few more parties showed up and the staff finally had a chance to address all of us waiting. Despite being the first in line waiting for a table, the staff skipped past me and seated the group who came behind me. Based on the conversation and hugs, I learned that the girl from that group that got seated first works at Hang Ten. I mentioned to the staff that my friend and I were in line first but she just stared at us blankly. She sat the other group and then came back to seat us. Food was good but service sucked. We kept having to ask multiple times for things (gloves, lime, sides, check, etc). This has been the second time where this has happened within the past few weeks I've been here. Revisiting our favorite Hawaii/cajun spot. We were seated right away even though the place was packed and we were just catching the tail end of the local high schools students lunch break. As soon as they all left we had the place to ourselves. Our server Eve/Evessa was awesome! She had trouble taking out because we were ordering for here and to go orders. And we got our drinks, apps and shrimps quickly. We all had shrimp (headless and head on with garlic butter and mild kick ) they provide bibs and gloves upon request as well as lemons and s&p. If we only lived nearby we definitely would come by here all the time but whenever we are in the area it's a must stop. Their food never disappoints. The employees are always so nice and provide excellent service and the ambience even though it's small it has that good vibes feel and their playlist is on point too. This was our second time here in two months. We loved it the first time and decided to go here for a Friday date night. We weren't disappointed! We were greeted right away and were able to choose our seat. We picked a booth seat where we can watch the Warriors game. Server came by right away and took our drink and food order. She was so pleasant and brought out our drinks quickly. The restaurant is not too big and has some handwritten writing and signatures around. Restroom is gender neutral. About 30mins into our meal, the restaurant was pretty packed. But no significant wait for any of the parties that came through. Dont forget to ask for your bib. I love the service they have, friendly and kind. However, they do auto charge tips even for take out orders, but I understand. Gas is $6 a gallon. I actually even added more tip. I was so excited to get Louisiana crawfish fresh, only for it to them to completely full of mud and dirt, seems like they didn't even rinse them before cooking. I was looking forward to eating here with my girlfriend since I remember coming here a few years ago with family and having a great experience. Everything looked alright as we sat down and looked through the menu. However, as I went to use the restroom I was hit with a gnarly, pungent stench of urine. In addition to this horrid smell, the bathroom looked like it hasn't been clean in eons. The walls were stained with a mysterious black-grey grime as seen in the photos. Also, the soap was not even installed into the dispenser. I immediately did not want to eat here, and decided to tell the waitress that we'd be leaving. She was really nice and understanding about the situation. So, I added an extra star for the service. But, I recommend checking the cleanliness of the bathroom before eating at any place, as it can reflect the cleanliness of the kitchen. Hopefully Hang Ten Boiler will learn from this! read more

I used to love this place! Been a fan ever since they added Asian Cajun to their menu at the original location next to JIB. Seafood quality has been trash ever since they moved to the new location on Santa Clara. Seems like the owners no longer care. Ordered 2 Tommy's combo for pick up on Mother's Day and all the seafood was powdery or stale even though I only drove to bayfarm immediately after. I decided to give them another try recently and opted to dine in since they confirmed fresh and live crawfish. What we got was rotten and gooey crawfish TWICE! I've had way better frozen crawfish elsewhere. Workers were even ashamed and said they sent pics/vids to the owners. Only giving them two stars because the service was excellent from the two waitresses that day. I am an avid Asian Cajun fan, I even bring my own gloves lol. I don't know if what I've been eating isn't authentic, but I've never seen cabbage mixed in with the Kalua pork. It was fine. Just never seen it before. The garlic noodles are very garlicky and very good. Too bad I spent my whole dinner de-heading my daughters shrimp. She didn't order them headless like she should have. High maintenance teens and moms who can't say no. I will say, my only qualm is that my daughter asked for potatoes in her bag, and she got 2 potato halves. Having to pay an additional cost for potatoes, and getting 1 small potato seems a bit annoying. Oh. I guess my second qualm would be they didn't give us an itemized receipt. The bbq chicken was seared nicely and was moist and flavorful; not too sweet or salty or ladened with sauce. The broccoli was steamed perfectly with a slight crunch and bright green. We ordered the Jordan's combo (which comes with shrimp, clams, potatoes, corn, and we added sausages also), and a garlic noodle. The food came pretty quick. The noodles were so garlicky, and portion size was huge. The seafood tasted pretty fresh. Has the easy going atmosphere of any Cajun place I've been to with the exception expectation your hands are going to get dirty going through all the shells of crab, shrimp mussels, etc. Been here a few times and was never disappointed. The daily specials are great! That lava chicken is bomb. Get it with the fried rice like I did and you'll have too much food! The service here is great too. Hang Ten offers 4 different types of sauces and we had such a difficult time trying to pick sauces and spice. First world problems am I right? We got: shrimp (head on), manila clams, mussels, dungeness crab and king crab legs with garlic noodles, fries, and spam masubi. Everything was ok. Nothing made me feel like a mermaid and want to come back here. Some of the clams and mussels were just shell and no meat at all. The king crab legs had barely any meat too. I should have tried this place a long time ago. It's not just cajun, they also have typical Hawaiian food like kalua pork and BBQ chicken, with mac salad. (All delicious, by the way.) The prices are higher than Ono, but the portions are also MUCH bigger, so I'm not complaining. They don't take long to bring the food either. I did try the seafood boil as well, and it was very tasty. Fresh seafood with as much garlic sauce as I could dream of. I have no complaints at all with this place... ...exceeeeept the water. I don't know why, but it tastes like toilet water. I'm sure it's just from their tap, but tap water in Alameda is usually pretty good. We started off with sweet potato fries and a side of garlic noodles. It took awhile to get out. Next was our shrimp and crawfish which even took longer! They stated in the menu that it's made to order, so be mindful of that. Did the spicy with hang ten sauce. I loved it! It had a kick. I just didn't like that they gave us barely lemons or lime and it was difficult to squeeze. I gave it a 3 stars because there is a 10% grat to support them for Covid, increase in prices of food (could've gone elsewhere) and we waited a long time. I am a former resident of Alameda and have eaten quite a few times at Hang Ten. The place is nicely decorated with Warriors art and paintings that show support for a basketball great! I thought that was very nice. But unfortunately when we entered, I wasn't sure anyone even saw us. After waiting a while, we were finally seated. The wait wasn't too bad, but acknowledgement would have been nice. Once seated, our server took our orders in timely fashion. Caution: Before ordering the crab, ask the price! The menu said "Market Price" and the server did not volunteer the information. I ordered a Dungeness crab with potato and corn and my wife ordered a fries oyster and shrimp platter. When our order was ready, another server with a pony tail and an attitude walked up and plops the food down in front of us. No eye contact and didn't ask if we needed anything. I felt like we really put her out. The fried seafood was good. I regret not getting that. Unfortunately, the Crab was terrible. I like plain crab boiled or steamed with Old Bay, so I ordered Cajun style. The crab was so strong with garlic, that the crab itself could not be tasted. What a waste. It was served in a bag and was very messy. I really hate the seafood in a bag trend. We also ordered Lumpia and Garlic noodles. Both were tastie! Finally the check. That single crab that I so didn't enjoy cost $50.00. I wish I had known. I have been to similar places and never paid so much! Ask before you order!
