This Poke spot is so-so. It is not the best sashimi, but it's not the worst either. It does satisfy my cravings for a poke. Lots of toppings and flavor to choose from. I like how they still have the crab salad for free. The service could be slow, but they are nice though. The place is a bit small, but it does have a seating area where you can sit and eat.

There's limited poke places around here and so this place is good enough when I crave some poke - after all no poke on mainland USA can compare to the poke in Hawaii, unless you go to a high end poke place and pay for it $$$. The fish here is consistently good and have not had any issues so far. Sides and toppings have been good as well. The only issue leading to a 3 star instead of a 4 star is that the last two times I've gotten a poke here has with rice that is a little undercooked leading to a poke bowl experience that is a little below expectation. I've seen that they cook rice using those huge rice cookers and those cannot be used like a standard rice cooker but one has to engage in trial and error to know the best proportion of water to cook the rice well. Hopefully that is something already on the plan for improvement.

Nice place to stop for your poke fix. All the fixins and sauces with fresh seafoods just the way you order it. Always friendly staff, thanks!

Stopped off here while visiting a friend in the area: great poke and plenty of good toppings. The salmon was a little discolored, which was a bit of a turnoff. Friendly service.

Best poke option in Alameda in my opinion! Poke House is a chain and I've gone to their other locations pretty often so I was happy seeing this one open up! Quality is definitely consistent. Portions here are their selling point. It's always SO packed and they're extremely generous with the fish. Normally I get 3 scoops from other poke spots but with Poke House, I can get away with 2. Reason for 4 stars is mainly bc the fish quality is not the most top tier. The tuna can be stringy sometimes and the salmon can be overly fatty. Plenty of seating indoors. Nice and clean. Service was fast.

I'm a fan of Poke House and was excited when I found out they were opening one in Alameda, especially since it's close to where I work. I stopped by once right at opening. I waited around for a bit and no one acknowledged me until I finally asked if they had any spicy tuna. They just said no, so I left. Even though that first experience was pretty disappointing, I decided to give them another try. This time they did have spicy tuna, but it wasn't what I expected. Instead of the typical minced spicy tuna you see at most poke spots, theirs was just big chunks tossed in a watery spicy sauce. It didn't look appetizing at all, so I skipped it and just went with regular ahi tuna. I ordered my usual combo of half zucchini noodles and half mixed greens as the base and went with their house chili sauce mixed with Sriracha mayo. Unfortunately, the quality of the fish here was nowhere near what I've had at other Poke House locations in San Jose and San Mateo. The tuna was stringy and dry, not the soft buttery texture you would expect. Each bite was tough and not enjoyable. I ended up leaving most of the tuna behind and just ate the crab salad and veggies. For $17 before tip, I expected better. Unless things improve, I don't think I'll be back.

I don't know where they get their fish from but the Fish wasn't fresh at all and the taste wasn't good at all. Never ordering from here again

411 S. Shore Center Alameda, CA 94501 I rarely go to restaurants during their grand opening, but I had a good feeling about this place. Poke House opens up nextdoor to Yi Fang and HomeGoods on the "beach" side of Alameda's Southshore Shopping Center. I was there on Sunday, June 1st. It was a sunny cool day. At 4pm, there was no line. A young man sweeping the floor welcomed me inside, and offered to answer my questions. I asked him what's the best item on the their menu. He confidently replied....."The House Salmon Bowl." BTW, a Poke Bowl is not sushi. It's a Hawaiian dish. It may have similar ingredients, but the preparation and presentation are different. Poke House offers both raw and cooked dishes. So, I ordered a medium House Salmon Bowl (takeout). Poke House has a assembly line style counter. There were two servers and one cashier. Everyone was super professional and listened carefully to customers. Your order includes a utensils packet with a napkin, chopsticks, and a spoon/fork. The House Salmon Bowl was really good. I asked for sesame oil and pickled ginger. The salmon was fresh, with no fishy smell. The taste was clean. The krab salad, seaweed, green onions, and ginger all came together to make a delicious dish. I took my order to go. The restaurant was a bit crowded as they only have five tables inside. There's no table service. I will return and try something else. Hopefully they'll expand their hours. Free parking in mall lot.

Came on grand opening day! Such a clean place with a nice easy assembly line and friendly workers. We got the small poke bowl and crispy shoyu chicken bowl. Spicy salmon and Spicy tuna over a bed of salad, (you were able to choose from a variety of bases, white rice, brown rice, salad or zucchini noodles) You also got to personalize/pick your toppings along with a mixture of sauces. Seaweed salad was an extra charge but well worth it! Everything was super fresh and delicious. Crispy shoyu chicken bowl for those who aren't looking to eat raw fish or can't, this is such a great alternative! If you're looking for that crunchy moist chicken. Definitely will be back here again :)

Portions here are pretty big compared to other places. They have a wide variety of toppings and mix ins. Location is super convenient and staff are really friendly.

One of the only spots only during labor day weekend, this was a yummy option! The portions were amazing and it was cool that they had hot options too like spam musubi. We ordered the large with five protein options half and half sushi rice and mixed greens. We chose the salmon, yellowtail, and spicy tuna. The extra add ons were crazy good - seaweed salad, avocado, imitation crab, corn, furikake, thinly sliced cucumber, and masago. The only disappointing part was that they didn't have a diaper changing table in the restroom, otherwise, great find in Alameda!

Portions still OK, but food still good! located in a very convenient location. Got takeout and ate it with my cat at home :)

Late review but I came here a few weeks back about 20 minutes before they closed. I got salmon and tuna. All the toppings because I'm not picky. I got a spicy miso sauce and it was a nice kick because I accidentally flung some sauce in my eye as I was eating and almost took myself to the er LOL but it was so good! Staff are super nice too.

Parking is a bit difficult but we managed to find street parking a block away. Wasn't too crowded and there was plenty of seating inside. You order first and you find a table to sit, and they bring out the food to you. Self serve water is available. The food came out pretty quick! Thoughts: - Lobster roll (classic) was delicious! Generous amount of lobster. Would definitely get this again. Chips weren't too great though. - Fried shrimp basket was nice. Shrimp was crispy and tasty. Fries were also very crispy and flavorful. The sauces go well with the shrimp/fries. Coleslaw isn't the best though. - The crab nachos were surprisingly good. A nice cheese sauce combo with pico/avocado crema and a good amount of crab. - Garlic noodles were fine, nothing standout about them. - Mix and match basket with catfish, cod, and calamari (not pictured): Catfish was solid (would highly recommend, one of the favorites of the meal!), but would pass on the cod and calamari - a bit dry/fishy. Would recommend for a casual spot for seafood and a nice view!

Anyone remember the Jack London Village that they tore down to build this end of the development? Anyways - this is a fast casual type spot, where you order from the counter, place the little number sign on your table and wait for it to be delivered. The menu is your standard seafood joint by the water type, with all the usual suspects represented. Fried fish, shrimp, chowder, seafood pastas--if you've ever been to a seaside seafood joint, chances are good that the menu here is exactly like the one you remember seeing at the countless other places like this one. I noticed right off the bat that their pricing structure was on the high side - with a $17 burger and fries option, with the bulk of the fried seafood options in the $22-25 range. A cheaper choice might be the $16 fish tacos (two of them) but I kind of draw the line at paying $8 for a single taco. Our table ordered a few of the fried options plus a few soda beverages. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and I noticed that the silver metal trays that the food comes on is a bit on the small side, especially considering the prices for each dish. The fried shrimp dish was a big scoop of mega-salty french fries, and 3 average sized deep fried shrimp. Yes - 3 as in 1, 2, 3. That's what - $7+ a shrimp? The two fried fish platters weren't much better portion-wise. My deep fried cod consisted of three modest sized fish-fingers, and not the single luscious chunk of perfectly fried cod I had imagined in my head when ordering. They were fine - but very average and nothing that stood out as life-changing or something to write home about. As mentioned earlier, they must be employing the Little Rascals method where they over salt everything, in hopes that you'll order another beverage to wash down the copious mounts of sodium (I figure about 4+ days worth). The fried catfish platter that rounded out our order was more of the same - thin meager portions of fish on a large bed of mega-salted fries. Small plastic containers of generic pre-made tartar sauce and coleslaw can with each platter. The coleslaw was fine - just very forgettable and perhaps a tad on the flavorless/watery side. All said, was it okay? Yes. Was it anything outstanding that I'd crave and plan my return to have again? No. It is in line with touristy by-the-Sea seafood places that charge an extra couple of bucks because they're "on the water"? Pretty much. You're paying for the view and the 'scene' of sitting on the patio out front to people watch, and not for the food. I kind of hate these places and normally try my best to stay away from them, but every once in awhile, you gotta put on your tourist hat and join the mindless flock. A meager 2 stars outta 5 from me. Instead, I'd stroll around this area on a Sunday when they hold the farmer's market (again - is not what it used to be) and then drive through the tube to Alameda where great dining spots are numerous on Park Street. You can stop at Crab Cove and Crown Beach on the way, for more touristy sightseeing.

The atmosphere is cozy and casual and the service staff are really friendly. In terms of food, we started with a dozen oysters, the smoked trout dip, and the boquerones. The smoked trout dip was outstanding!!! Loved the flavor of it! The Boquerones was also delicious... the oysters were all fresh and can be ordered with horseradish and hot sauce (I think it was Crystal). For mains we ordered the steamed mussels and the grilled shrimp. The mussels were good, though on the smaller side, and the shrimp was delicious, buttery and garlicky. Great combo! To finish I had the Key Lime Pie which was done in a bowl. Great lime flavor and not overly sweet. Overall, a fantastic experience and we will definitely return!

If you read other 1-2 star reviews to will find that the owner has a pattern of blaming and harassing customers for their honest reviews instead of having accountability. Thankfully, my bank refunded the charge. Ironically, the best customer service I received came from the company processing the payment--not the restaurant. If accountability matters to you, dine elsewhere. After spending nearly $300 to celebrate my birthday, I had hoped the owner genuinely wanted to make things right. The follow-up was even more disappointing than the birthday lunch itself. After my original Google review, the owner publicly wrote: "Please email me directly... I'll comp your entire meal, no questions asked." I reached out exactly as requested, thanked him, accepted his offer, and asked what information he needed to process the refund. Instead of receiving a direct response, the conversation shifted to why I had posted a public review before contacting the restaurant privately and how it affected his business. I wasn't looking to debate my experience--I was simply taking him up on the offer he had publicly made. I followed up with one straightforward question: whether the promised comp was still on the table. Despite following up, I never received a direct answer. I understand that restaurants don't have to refund every unhappy customer. What changed my rating from 3 stars to 1 star wasn't just the disappointing birthday lunch--it was the difference between the public promise and the private follow-through. For me, how a business handles a complaint is just as important as the original dining experience. ---- I chose The Salty Pearl to celebrate my birthday and left feeling pretty disappointed overall. When making my reservation through OpenTable, I noted that it was my birthday and requested a stroller-friendly table. Unfortunately, neither request seemed to be acknowledged. Similar to what other reviewers have mentioned, there was no recognition of the birthday celebration at all. As a parent, I specifically requested a table with space for a stroller. Instead, we were initially seated next to a large party with virtually no room for one. When I brought this up, I was told to leave the stroller at the other end of the restaurant, which wasn't practical since I needed easy access to my baby's essentials. To their credit, they eventually moved us to a different table, but the interaction felt reluctant rather than accommodating. The service was also extremely slow throughout the meal. While I don't mind dishes arriving one at a time, the pacing felt excessive. There were long stretches of waiting between items, and we frequently had to flag someone down for assistance. The bartender wasn't particularly friendly, which added to the overall experience. The final straw was dessert--we waited so long that we eventually canceled it and left. As for the food, it was a mixed bag. The clam chowder was good, and I enjoyed the Caesar salad. The dressing was light and well-balanced, though I didn't think the extra $8 for the sardines was worth it. The lobster roll was underwhelming, especially given the price. The tuna crudo was just okay and noticeably smaller than it appeared in the photos, and the ceviche was missing hot sauce. The steamed mussels were decent, but the focaccia served alongside them felt like the wrong choice. A crusty sourdough or another crisp bread would have been much better for soaking up the broth. The focaccia was simply too soft. We also ordered the "$12 oysters with the purchase of a bottle of wine" special. After doing the math, I'm not convinced it's much of a deal. Overall, I came in with high expectations, especially after hearing comparisons to Little Shucker. After trying both, I'd choose Little Shucker every time. The food there is more flavorful, portions feel more generous for the price, and the overall experience exceeds expectations rather than falling short of them. Unfortunately, what should have been a special birthday dinner ended up feeling underwhelming from both a service and value perspective.

I really like how they let you build your seafood experience exactly how you want it, from the type of seafood to the seasoning and spice level. The only thing was I think the spice level could've been kicked up a notch. Our table ordered a mix of oysters, garlic noodles, Cajun fries, shrimp, crawfish, mussels, which came with corn, potatoes, sausage and hard boiled egg! The seafood was fresh and the sauce coated everything nicely without being overwhelmingly salty, and the corn and potatoes soaked up all the seasoning. All for a very reasonable price if you get the combo, which comes in 3 different tiers! The oysters were a standout--fresh, briny & I loved all the different sauces like horse radish and cocktail on the side. I do wish the fries were a bit more crispy and could've gone heavier with the Cajun seasoning, but that's personal preference. The atmosphere is casual, lively, and perfect for big groups.
