Me and the family discovered gem a few years back and we make it a priority to stop every time we are in the area or even in la considering we don't stay around here we stay in the inland empire pizza is off the chain I brag to my people about how good this pizza is I can eat a plain cheese and pepperoni and it hits everytime not a big fan of pizza but I'll make the hour and a half drive to eats some hanks in January I made a stop and decided to try some thing new on the menu Philly Cher steak let me tell u the flavors of that sandwich was amazing the meat had a smoky flavor and the whole sandwich was packed with flavor I went and bragged to people how they had one of the best phillys I've ever had yesterday I was in the area with the family after a day at the beach decided to stop with a big group to grab some pizza and a Philly I bought two pizzas and two phillys for 68$ can't beat that price only thing that was a bummer is the Philly cheesesteaks weren't like the one I had before I don't know if it was cooked by someone else or what but the sandwich had no flavor meat was like if they just threw it on the grill and let it cook no Smokey flavor like before just dry and flavorless I was very disappointed after I bragged to everyone that the sandwhich was a hit my wife told me to take it back in to tell them it was lacking flavor but I chose not to make a big deal I figured maybe it's been a long day for the chef or he was having a bad day but pizza was on point as always but just very disappointed about the sandwhich read more

I want to start off by saying I'm a loyal Hank's customer. I live up the street and have been coming here for years. Anyone else who lives in playa knows how few cheap food options there are around here after dark, so for that, Hank's, I appreciate you being pretty much my only option after dark. That said, Hank needs to step up their game a bit. Now 4 bucks for 2 slices is a bargain that's hard to argue with. The pizza is aight, It gets the job done. Every now and then, I'll luck out and get an actually fresh slice of pizza, which is pretty good! But most of the time it's just a soggy old slice with new cheese and pepperoni slapped on top and thrown under a heat lamp for a few minutes. This is obvious. You aren't fooling anyone, Hank. I want Hanks to be better. I really like the place. So here's my suggestion to hank. If you're gonna serve me old reheated slices, maybe offer slight discount? If I was only paying 2 or 3 bucks for some shitty old slices I'd be all over it, but to charge the same amount as you do for the fresh slices feels pretty unfair. Service here is always lovely as the staff are very kind. But unfortunately I am not a huge fan of their food. I have only tried it a couple of times now (pizza both times) and it is on the heavier side (the side that makes your tummy hurt). The most recent visit to Hank's, I ordered a small cheese pizza and the amount of oil was just preposterous. I know some people can certainly stomach that, but I cannot. I do feel that the heaviness of the oils also takes away from the flavor of the pizza. I did find the crust pretty tasty though - I think they use a sourdough type of bread but I could easily be mistaken. read more

Well it's been about 5 or 6 years but, DAAAMMMMNN! Hank's Pizza has and IS still making the BEST pastrami in ALL of L.A.!! I'm 6'5" well over 240lbs so trust me when I say order the small cause that's what is in the picture. Wow so goood !! Hank's Pizza has made stay at home order bearable! Thank you P.S. The food really depends on who is on shift in the kitchen. I love love love the pizza on most days, but one out of 4 orders comes out completely different than the others (recently a Friday). Typically excellent and well balanced, sometimes overloaded and misunderstood with no appreciation of the final visual of the product. I had a great experience my first time ordering Hanks thru Grubhub, this time not so much. I ordered with the Grubhub app and I was told at 12:04 the food would be delivered between 12:30-12:40pm. At 12:48pm I called Hanks for update and was put on hold for 2 min. I hung up and called back. They said the delivery driver had three orders total and they had no idea which of the 3 I was in delivery queue. I got my food at 1:07pm. It was warmish. The delivery driver had a Hanks thing on their car too. Next time though I will pick a service or Restaurant that only takes one order at a time for more accurate prediction of time and warmer food. read more

Every time I've gone in it's been a pleasant experience! The staff is always friendly and delivery is quick and easy. The food itself is just okay. I've tried their pizzas, lasagnas, garlic bread, onion rings, fries and mozzarella sticks. Overall I'd give the food a 5/10. It's not very flavorful or fresh but as a late night bite it does the trick. Their salads and sandwiches are probably the best things I've eaten here. There's a few tables inside and a few outside which are convenient. There not a lot of pizza places in this area so it's a nice local spot but I think you can go a little ways away and get better food. read more

Hank's has been around since my husband attended LMU in the early 90s. He has fond memories of this place. Since we're not from the area, we stop in whenever we're in town. This last trip, Hank's served us our first and last meal in LA. My husband always gets the pastrami sandwich, as he considers it to be the best. I've only been 3x and each time I get the calzone, which can be any pizza plus $1.25 for ricotta cheese. Funny enough, this reminds me of my college days that I would frequently order calzone from a local pizza palor. Now he's got me hooked! Kids enjoy the food too! When we arrived 20 minutes later when the guy said our order would be ready, this is how the conversation went on 9/5 at 7:20 p.m. Guy was on his phone laying back in a chair. Guy: can I help you? My husband: my name is _____. I ordered..... Guy: He seemed confused and looked through the tickets. Husband: repeated the entire order Guy: he looked confused and panicked. Guy: I didn't put it in. I got confused. I don't know what happened. I can have it ready in 20 minutes. I came in on that last part. Husband: are you kidding me? We have a movie in 20 minutes!! This guy should be fired and should not work for this establishment I have been frequenting Hank's since I went to LMU. For reference I started at LMU in 1990. It's 2021. Hank's has been so consistent with the quality and taste of their pizza. I love their pizza sauce it's so rich and flavorful, they don't skimp on their cheese, their crust is so crispy, and they make it the way I ask every time!!! I've had their antipasta as well and their salad dressing was so tasty I could have drank it and they put lots of meat on it. We ordered when we got there and it took them about 15 mins to complete our order which was a miracle bc I thought we were going to wait at least 30 mins. The pizza was decent I just thought it was a little bit too oily and I wish it was a bit more flavorful. The calzone on the other hand, was so good. If you were to come here, I would suggest getting a calzone instead of the pizza. read more

Ordered 3 pizzas (1 veggie, 1 pepperoni and 1 sausage), 2 salads (antipasto and Hank's) and wings (bbq and Buffalo). The pizza was cheesy and delicious. The sausage pizza was by far our favorite. I was looking for a spot to eat since I was in the area (Had to drop off an aunt at LAX) and a friend told me about Hank's PIzza. She said the pizza was great and the burgers were stupid good. I liked stupid so I decided to drive 10 mins to Hank's PIzza. As I pulled up to Hank's, I was surprised that it was a tiny shack. I was expecting a bigger establishment. I found some parking up the hill and started to make my way down to Hank's. The guy at the register was helpful and told me that I couldn't go wrong with anything here. I opted or the sausage burger and as well as a slice of pepperoni and sausage (pizza slice was made to order) When the sausage burger came out, I was shocked. This burger was $4.95 but was bigger than most steak's I've had. This thing was HUGE. My first thought was "Crap, how am I gonna make space for my slice of pizza. The sausage burger was great but it was really soggy due to the marinara sauce smothering the burger. It was not big deal as I finished it up with a knife and fork. They also provided a mac salad with the burger so that was nice. I thanked the guy and took my slice of pizza togo. When I got home, it turned out my slice was actually 2 slices! WOW. I don't think it was a mistake though. I think that the slice was super big like new york style and they cut it up to two slices for me. Very nice of them. Next time i stop by, I'll try their pastrami sandwich. The guy next to me had it and he swears it's the best pastrami sandwich he's ever had. I believe him.
