Hank's is pretty active on social media and the pictures that pop up in my feed for the specials have been looking pretty tasty, so I decided to place a to go order. For some reason, I found their online ordering system kind of confusing, but I was also in a hurry (HUNGRY!), so may not have been as attentive as I could be. Food was ready on time and I didn't stick around to check out the interior - I was in a hurry to get home and put up the patio umbrella and indulge. There are some big windows that open on the front, and some people at a high top right in the breeze that looked like a nice place to be. The cheese curds were really good. They didn't quite squeak, but they did have a trip in a to go box, so that is to be expected. They were nice with the ranch dip. This is a sharing dish for sure, it's a lot of cheese for one person! I had really been looking forward to the strawberry almond salad (no meat added) for the sweet and sour dressing, smoked almonds, and strawberries. I had ordered mine without blue cheese and without bacon. When I popped the box open, it had a generous sprinkle of both, in tiny little pieces that were very hard to remove. I pushed a lot to the side, and the salad was good, but the items that I really don't care for kind of overwhelmed it for me. I'd order it again if I were to dine in and had an opportunity to have that error fixed. Finally, I had the corn cakes. They come with a pretty intriguing sauce mix - harissa, pico, and sour cream. I wanted to try just the plain cake, so tried a bite from the bottom and ate a lot of my order that way, the cakes were that good! I finished these for dinner (left the box at room temp for a couple of hours) and they held up well. I'd really like corn cakes topped with some pulled chicken! I wonder if that's on the menu? Anyway, I enjoyed my food and while barbeque isn't something I regularly crave (I'm more in it for the sides, as you may have noticed) I would be happy to have theirs again. read more

Love it! Since it was brunch time we ordered a couple of mimosas to go along with our BBQ! The stars of the show IMO are the brisket and the cheese curds! I think my preschooler filled up on cheese curds and barely had room for Mac and cheese! I don't love the upcharge for brisket AND chicken on the meat plates. Brisket we expected, but chicken was a total surprise, especially since we got dark! The menu could be clearer, for sure. Whoa, the BarBQTery Board is amazing. It consists of ample portions of smoked ribs, turkey, brisket, chicken thigh and pulled pork along with pickled veggies and Texas toast. All of the meats are coated with delicious rubs and smoked to perfection. You won't eat it all in one sitting, but you'll get a couple of more meals at home from the leftovers. The collard greens make a great side and for extra calories, go for the Steve's Way Corn Cakes. Dessert? Gotta go for the Key Lime Pie with blueberry compote. Superb! Hank's is definitely a top contender for local bbq in our area! They serve top quality and fairly priced smoked meats and they have unparalleled sides dishes! We went on a Saturday night and were sat immediately. The service was really friendly and the atmosphere welcoming. I appreciated that they had Saturday drink specials ($4 for a Long Island Iced Tea!!!). They were quite tasty too! We ordered the poutine and smothered tots to start. Everything was clearly made in house. While the meals were good, the appetizers were spot on. The gravy on the poutine was unreal and the tots were made from scratch. Solid. Our meals were also really good. I think the two meat platter with sides was between $16-$18. Compared to some other local joints, this was a steal. I tried the pulled pork (solid) and the brisket (a bit dry) with potato salad and baked beans. My partner opted to get Mac and cheese, which was incredible. Went here with a large group on a whim since we were in the area. Parking was easy to find in the private lot. Place was clean and there was only one server. She gave excellent customer service. Answered all question and always updated us on our orders, there were 10 of us in addition to the other patrons. The food was delicious. The prices were fair for the amount of food you got. Only complaint was some of the brisket was dry compared to what others received. Would come here again. read more

The beef brisket here is good! I would say their sauce options are what makes them different. They have a garlic one that is unique, but paired well. The mac and cheese was a little bland for my liking. It was just very average and kinda waxy. The sauce or cheese needed more seasoning or salt. Would probably skip on it next time. read more

First time here tried the wings to go! The breaded wings in Korean bbq tasted a bit burnt sadly I ended up taking most of the bread off. Also definitely ask for a extra sauce one won't do for all of them. It is a very loud atmosphere inside as it is a bar setting and some people had a button next to them as they played trivia. It did take a while to get my order which I was surprised about since it was a starter on the menu but I ended up going to sit outside on the seats outdoors and they brought out my order to me when it was ready and thanked me for my patience. For a work celebration we had a large catering for about 275 people. Jess and Brad were amazing to work with! They were easy to contact and communicate with about the details of the ordering. They dropped off the food on time and helped us carry it all in. They had the food in hot boxes, and everything stayed warm the entire time we were serving! I picked up some Hank's BBQ to go. I went for the Plain Jane sandwich, which contained pulled pork and a choice of sauce and fries. I went for the classic BBQ sauce and it was smoky and delicious. The pork was cooked perfectly and the bun was freshly toasted. The fries were also solid, and Hank's gives you the choice to swap out another side. Not gonna go into ambiance(which is all good but very subjective on what people like). The staff, everyone person we interacted with was very friendly and helpful and you could tell they believed in the restaurant they are working for. Service was fast, drinks kept full without feeling like your server is hovering. The food, is amazing. We ordered the 2 meat platters (I had pulled pork & sausage; my wife had pulled pork and chicken). We 'tried' the bbq sauce but it was completely unnecessary. The food doesn't need it. The only negative (and it's a positive too) was they had ran out of brisket and ribs. Was totally surprised by this place. This is perhaps the best ribs I've had. I tasted the ribs sans sauce and with sauce. I ended up not using any bbq sauce because the ribs were already flavorful enough. The sauce would have detracted from it. That rarely happens. Great barbecue in a great space! They've got garage doors that open up on nice days which gives the whole place a nice inside/outside vibe. Our server was friendly and upbeat, even though they were slammed while we were there. We split the jalapeno bottlecaps, and I had the brisket platter with two sides, corn pudding and vinegar slaw. The bottlecaps were delicious, you could tell they were freshly battered and fried to order, no bags of frozen appetizers here! First time trying out this new BBQ place and have to say it's really good. The staff was super friendly and the owner was walking around checking things out which was nice. I got the ribs with Mac & Cheese and corn spoon bread. The ribs were delicious. The spoon bread was more like a dessert because it was so sweet but we all enjoyed it. My biggest complaint, and one that was shared by many others is the portion sizes. For my meal I got two ribs...just two ribs. For the price ($16) it seemed like a lot of money even if it did come with two sides which were adequately sized. I'd usually take a star off for something like that, but since it's a fairly new place, I'm hoping they adjust based on feedback from everyone else. I'll definitely be back! read more

This place seems to be hit or miss. I've been there 3-4 times. The best part is their daily drink deals. The blueberry lemonade is great, but their draft beers just taste off. I'm not sure if it's dirty taps or glassware. Their staff is friendly and nice, but sometimes seem to be focused on themselves rather than customers. The food is good, but the brisket is a small portion (yes I know it's an expensive meat) and the baked beans lack "burnt ends" as the name says. The food is not that hot when it comes out. read more

I was pleasantly surprised of how good this place was. I thought it was going to be just another bbq place, but no! I got the 2 meat platter with the brisket and pulled pork. My 2 sides were the coleslaw and green beans. They grill their meat out at the side of their building - smart! It was amazing! I also had their Sangria which was refreshing. I am from Oklahoma and have been spoiled with great BBQ including top tier Texas BBQ. I think the potential is there but there were a few things that didn't click for me and a few that did. 6/10 overall. On the positives! the cornbread was ssooooo good. Moist. Crunchy crust. Greta corn flavor. No complaints. The ribs were really well seasoned and would definitely recommend. The pulled pork was tender, flavorful and not fatty. Good pulled pork overall. 1) my brisket was grisly and tasted cooked as opposed to smoked. 2) the mac and cheese was underwhelming. I am not opposed to cheese sauce, but thought it needs some black pepper or something to lift it. 3) my fries were a little cold and need salt. Hanks is great! While traveling in Columbus for work, I stumbled across this place. The atmosphere is great- kind of a bar and restaurant in 1 big room. I love the wood fired smoker out front right where you can see the cooking going on. I had the smoked brisket and jalapeño cheese sausage. Collard greens and baked beans for sides. The brisket was perfect and the crust was nicely sweet and spicy. The sausage was delicious with small chunks of cheese and a nice smoked flavor. Baked beans were so good, with burnt ends. I had heard a lot of buzz around their birria tacos so when I saw the $10 Cinco de mayo deal I knew I needed to stop by. Service was great. The interior honestly hasn't changed much since old skoool occupied it. They offer a full bar and the typical bbq items most other bbq joints offer. Definitely a bit pricey but not too bad. Unfortunately, wasn't a fan of the birria. It honestly wasn't birria at all. Just because it's served with dip doesnt make it birria......ok I'll end my rant about that. I didn't care for it. I think a better name for them is cheese brisket crunch tacos or something. I felt it could use some jalapeno or pickled onions. Just seemed like something was missing. I also would have liked a bit more meat. Nonetheless, tacos were a flop for me but I did enjoy the Mac. If you like Panera bread Mac n cheese this was like a better version of that. I have been here twice now and I totally recommend this place. One thing central Ohio lacks (in my opinion) is good ol' southern bbq.
