It's very romantic and intimate with great food and cocktails. The restaurant was transformed from being a department store with the same name into this amazing restraint. At the end you can see an elevator shaft they took out and replaced with glass to look down. Serves food till midnight. great house music and a live DJ at and many seating options..bar area is great for happy hour ..big open area. really unique cool things to see at this bar/restaurant -creepy display of dolls down the stairs on the right once you enter. -cool art exhibit made within a old elevator of the building... on the far left side, right before stairs up to the bathrooms. -Bathrooms upstairs..probably the most unique bathroom you'll ever experience..created from old fitting rooms back when Hanny's was a department store. many people be waiting for the bathroom and take cool pics with the neon lights displayed.. I went on a busy night ..and my food came out quickly and was very delicious.. enjoyed the margarita pizza and the Hanny's Bar Plate. Only negative thing for this place is the parking ..limited reasonable parking downtown Phoenix ..if parking a car you'll more likely be paying $20 for garage parking..just not much available meter parking on the streets. recommend Uber/lyft/waymo, light rail /valley metro/walking ..or any other strategy for parking in downtown Phoenix.. gotta say though I'd pay another $20 Dollars for garage parking to meet up with friends or a date to try this place again..I recommend you try it. read more

Stopped in on a Thursday afternoon for the happy hour and was seated right away. Tried the Sidewinder Fries which were delicious and came with a huge portion (was not able to finish them all)! Also had the Italian Chicken Strips which were good and reminiscent of chicken katsu (with an Italian flavor). Happy hour food prices were fantastic! Had the happy hour Pinot noir and wasn't really a fan so probably wouldn't order that again. My wife had the gin martini on happy hour which she said was good. Make sure to check the receipt after paying as we were charged for an upgrade to the happy hour martini even though we didn't ask for the upgraded option. Overall great bang for your buck! read more

The elevator to the rest room was down but the stairs were not bad at all a quick walk up. The place seems to be pretty accessible though. The hostess acted irritated that she had to seat us and practically threw the menus on the table . . . I'm not exaggerating. The young woman who served us was nice enough initially, but when one of the people in our party made a request that confused our server, her attitude quickly took a turn for the worse and remained that way for the remainder of what turned out to be a relatively early evening due to the overall unfriendly service. Not sure why this place has a low Yelp rating. From the outside of the restaurant it looks closed, they really need to work on the outside to let you know they are open! But once you enter the restaurant it has a happening vibe and it's super busy! We went to the restaurant around 11pm for drinks and dessert after a concert on a Thursday night and the place was completely full! The bartender was very attentive and the drinks and desserts were delicious! This is a place to definitely try when you are in downtown Phoenix. They are open for lunch too! We've been coming to Hanny's for years. My sister is a pilot and her airline's pilots always stay at the Hyatt next door. She can't come to town without a visit to this little gem. The hot honey, carne, and prosciutto and arugula pizzas are our favorites and I can never bring myself to order anything other than a pizza and salad because I know they're both great. The service is usually fast and friendly and the bar tenders are knowledgeable and welcoming. The pizza has a cracker thin, crisp crust, so if that's not your thing this might not be your favorite. I personally love it and confidently recommend it as a great option in downtown Phoenix. Others have mentioned the art and decor and they're not wrong, it's absolutely worth checking out. read more

This is a fun experience as the setting is in an old department store and makes for a unique atmosphere. I ordered a beet salad with steak and it was delicious! It was a little pricey for a salad, but to be expected since the restaurant is downtown. The serving size was large and I was definitely full after eating. My husband ordered the carne pizza and said it was decent. The service here was good and she told us about the little quirks of the layout (empty elevator shaft, bathrooms, basement) to check out after eating. Overall we really enjoyed the experience here! Upon landing I saw this awesome building and immediately wanted to go into it - its a former department store from the 1940s and now a great multi-level experience that serves up some of the best blanco pizza and champagne. JOSE was phenomenal at explaining the menu items and he made us want to buy more and absolutely come back. I really appreciated the art here, too. There is a monochromatic sculpture in the front window that is made of found objects and wrapped in the most cool and complicated way. ALSO, let's not ever leave this place until you've experienced this bizarre amazing immersive elevator AND DOLLS IN THE BASEMENT! - What! they set them all facing forward on at a table made out of the original elevator door! and the table is covered in coins! So very cool! I would love to rent this out for a party for sure! We obviously hadn't gone to Hanny's for a while. We asked if they still had their $5 martini special. The bartender laughed and said they hadn't had that for many years. We ordered two of their $12 martinis up. They were delicious. To go along with our martinis, we ordered their onion strings. They were wonderful. They came with a spicy dip and were super thin and not greasy at all. I think will have to come back to Hanny's more often. read more

A work friend recommended this place after a work event nearby. We sat in a corner for a few drinks and I was very impressed that they had one of my favorite drinks, Pimm's cup, which is very hard to find. Service was prompt and friendly. Then I found myself in that neighborhood just a few weeks later, and since the fancy restaurant on the hotel we were staying said they could not seat us until 7pm, we decided to walk here for dinner. Service was very good, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I got a flat bread pizza that was OK. I would probably had enjoyed it more if the sandwich that someone else ordered didn't look so delicious, LOL. Parking is a hassle for me every time I visit downtown. I think they said they did not validate parking. A few street spots nearby with meter. I am not in this are often but most likely will get back if I find myself nearby again. read more

My only experience with Hanny's was ordering food to go on two separate occasions. Personally, I e had better pizza at a much cheaper price, BUT the butter cake is a game changing dessert. Make sure you have your own vanilla ice cream at home because even if you order 4 cakes to go, you will only get about 4-6 oz. Of ice cream. I have to believe that is the standard because both times this was the amount of ice cream we received. The host had been pleasant both times we've picked up our food, but overall. The positives are that they offer a decent sized menu late night, their pizzas are thin, light, and refreshing, and the place itself is pretty big so on most week nights, there is never a wait. Downsides are that the music can be a bit loud if you're in a group and wishing to have conversations. Though it was a slow and random Sunday night during our experience, the service can be a bit on the slower side too as it took our server a little while to refill our waters and put in for the next round of drinks. Overall, it's still a place I will visit every so often especially when I'm in the area or there are visitors from out of town. Whenever I am craving a lemon drop, this is the first place in mind. I always say they have the best lemon drops in all the land lol. We came on a Saturday night for a birthday bar hop just have a few drinks and ended up staying about four hours. The bartender, Michael was more than amazing. I ended up coming back Monday night for a few drinks with a friend. Of course we have lemon drops and margaritas. The sidecar fries with amazing as well as a he house salad. Their pizzas are the best although we were not hungry we were seriously contemplating getting one just to have it there. Music and dj are great, even on a Monday night. Conner had his nails painted a raved about self care and creating a talking point to connect with his customers. It totally worked. He's great. Food and drink wise I think this place is a little pricey for what you get. A glass of wine is about $12 for what they said was a 9 oz pour but seemed to lack. Their glasses are huge tho so maybe my eyes just deceived me. The tequila cocktail I wanted was $18. We spilt a margarita flatbread ($16) and each got a salad. Mine the house salad ($6) and she got the cucumber salad ($11). My salad has a little too much dressing but it was still good. It was spring mix of lettuce. The flatbread was ok. Nothing special but also nothing wrong with it. We both had 3 squares and offered her the leftovers to take home. Dessert was the brown butter cake that the waiter recommended. It wasn't on the menu but definitely check it out. It was absolutely delicious. A warm cake drizzled with caramel and served with vanilla ice cream. I took my team here for our Christmas dinner. I was under the impression that Hanny's was just a gourmet pizza restaurant. Much to my surprise, they had a menu full of other delicious dishes to choose from. As a Pescatarian, I chose the market salad with shrimp. Oh my goodness. That was one of the best salads I've had in my life. Everyone's food came out fast and we all thoroughly enjoyed everything. The service was great as well. What a unique place. Converted clothing department store turned into a bar/ restaurant. Lots of cool artifacts and oddities to be found. I won't add spoilers on that note. Food was good- loved the pizza and the ribeye steak that two folks in our party ordered appeared to be huge and perfectly grilled. Turned into a bit of a nightclub atmosphere as it got later (DJ) on a Friday evening, so I would definitely recommend Hanny's for that as well if that's your speed.
