I left $10 for my beer and left after ordering food for me and my date 45 mins prior. Didn't dine and dash, it's just their problem now they have food they shouldn't have wasted others' time. I've tried every pho restaurant whenever I see one since the early 80's. Everyone deserves a chance but most were their first and last chance. It's hard to find one that lived up to my standards. When I found Hanoi Kitchen, I was hoping it would not be crossed out from my list from my first visit. It's sure did not disappoint. Personally, I prefer Northern Vietnamese style because the spices used is not as heavy as Southern Vietnamese style. The rice noodle is wider, flat, and the texture is slightly bouncy, smooth/slippery which is easy to swallow, unlike the traditional thin rice noodle which is rarely bouncy, not smooth and breaks easily. The both is made with just the right amount of spices and focuses on just the bones compares to the Southern Vietnamese style which uses heavy spices to enhance the flavor. Some you do get that wow effect at first bite but I can't finish the broth because of the overwhelming taste from the heavy use of spices. There are so many pho restaurants in the SG Valley but most of them are below my standards, some are mediocre and only a very few, takes just one hand to count, are top notch. To find a really good one in the Inland Empire is nearly impossible. This is the only one that I kept going back and it's comparable to anyone in the SG Valley. If I must pick on one thing, then the service attitude can be just a slightly better. Not saying bad but a bit cold. Highly recommended. read more

The staff is really friendly and puts in the effort to get to know you. The restaurant has a modern look and a DJ booth where the owner plays EDM mixes. I'm honestly SO unimpressed and confused by the 4 stars this restaurant has. I've eaten at Hanoi Kitchen twice, once dine-in, once take-out, and both times I was disappointed. The food to me is mediocre- pho was basic, overwhelmed with cilantro and green onions, bahn mi was extremelyyy dry, and the egg rolls were served with bottled sweet chili sauce??? Man, I was sooo disappointed by that sauce! Service was HORRIBLE- our table was overlooked the entire time we dined because the one waiter for the whole restaurant was too focused on his regulars. Every single table was served warm water without ice, and the water tasted horrible. I asked our waiter for ice, it never came. I asked for extra bowls, they never came, had to get up and ask the kitchen. Ambiance is off if you ask me haha, extremely loud music in the evening on the weekends, and they do have signs up, I just don't feel like it matches the vibe of the restaurant. I was first impressed by the cleanliness of this establishment and then the decor. You definitely walk into an experience before you sit down to eat. There are scenes of a busy Vietnamese marketplace on the walls...the decorative choices here compliment the entire space. Too many other elements to describe that make this place a "must" try. Duc the owner is hospitable and has culinary knowledge that will educate as well as make you want to try not only his food, but travel the world to try other tastes to tantalizing your palate. This was my 1st time here and this won't be my last.
