Hanwoo is such a beautiful location tucked in the corner of Port Orange. When you walk in you are greeted by double doors and a beautiful view. The decor is gorgeous. The staff is so friendly and attentive. It's nice to have a nice new Korean BBQ spot in Volusia County. The options are great and realistically it is a dining experience that even your kids can get involved in. The meats are marinated and they are delicious. The thing I would change would be a kid friendly menu. My 8 yr old loves grilling the meat but want no part of eating it. Haha!!! My new favorite restaurant. The quality of the meat was perfect and it was seasoned perfectly as well. The manager, Jamie, was delightful. She made the rounds to everyone and really elevated the dining experience. Where we come from the Korean BBQ restaurants have disco balls and over the top music (hard to talk), this restaurant has a more elegant feel to it. This restaurant came highly recommended by my sister, and it didn't disappoint. I've had Korean, but never at a Korean Barbecue. You do cook the meat yourself at your table. This was a great date experience. It was both so much food, but also nothing in excess. We managed to try the gyozas, kimbap, beef bulgogi, hanger steak, marinated chicken, and the pork belly. We went on a Sunday at noon and tried the early bird special. We thought part of the price would be the all you can eat aspect, but truly, the food was SO good, that it's really the quality that merits the price. The quantity is an added bonus. But they come in portions that are manageable. The service is so wonderful too. Our server helped us order, showed us how to use the grill, and helped us decide what to try next. In chatting she explained how they do children's pricing. And picky eaters/allergies. So accommodating! The owner walked around checking in, and she made sure that we tried everything. We had a great experience tonight at Hanwoo. It was a lovely first Korean Barbecue experience. The ambience is comfortable for either couples or large groups. They have a fantastic selection of different sides, appetizers and proteins, and everything we tried was very tasty. In case you don't know, Korean Barbecue is all-you-can eat (but there is not taking home leftovers). You sit at a booth with a wire-topped grill in the center of the table underneath a pergola. After telling the server which of the meal options you'd like (we did the Signature dinner) you can begin choosing from the options available with your package. Your proteins and veggies come uncooked (proteins are prepared with marinades/seasonings) and you butter them up and cook them on the wire grill while munching on your chosen appetizers or sides. What makes this experience so cool is that you dictate what you're eating and when. We started with all the appetizers this time, but next time we'll choose a few appetizers and a few proteins so we can mix it up! The food comes out very quickly because the proteins are raw, so keep that in mind. We tried: Appetizers: Gyoza Cord dog Chicken wings Corn and cheese Fried shrimp Seafood pancake marinated roast beef Sides: Kimchi Spicy radish Spicy cucumber Potatoes and egg salad sweet and sour seaweed Proteins: Sea bass Calamari steak (they brought us scallops too) Gator meat Marinated shortrib Marinated ribeye Hanger steak Veggies: Broccoli Onion Mushrooms (They also brought us some pineapple slices) Soup: Beef bone soup Other: Seasoned ramen Standouts (or surprises) for us: Gyoza Seafood pancake Spicy radish Sea bass Calamari Scallops Marinated ribeye Hanger steak Pineapple (fantastically juicy after searing on the grill with some butter) Wifey and I enjoyed a cozy date-night dinner, but the table adjacent to us had about 6 people, and they seemed to be having a blast. Beautiful place. They have plenty of sides ahead of your meal. I will order the Gyoza chicken dumplings again so good! Then skip right to the meal next time. Not that the sides didn't taste good but I got too full before the meat was brought out. We had the Spicy Chicken, Beef Bulgogi, Ribeye steak, hanger steak. This place is great. I have zero complaints about the food or service. Both were excellent. The only real catch here is that you're going to be shelling out at least 40 or so bucks a person, and probably more with drinks etc. For that, you get as much buh-buh-beef (etc.) as you can cram in your yawning pie hole voids. So too do you get very friendly/helpful service and some lovely ambience (just be warned, it's super cheesy. Your favorite review Peter P. loves a little schmaltz, though). All things considered, pretty durn good for the price. Here's my one complaint. The menu is really geared JUST towards in-table bbq. If you wanted to have, say, some bibimbap or some bulgogi cooked in the kitchen and brought out to you as a single entree, you're out of luck. Most KBBQ places have at least an option to order off a kitchen menu like that -- and even sometimes a few tables with no grills whatsoever. I think at least a few kitchen-entree menu options here would go a long way (listen, sometimes Mr. Periwinkle is too tired to grill his own grub after a long day at his main job beautifying the gardens of little old ladies across the world). This place is better than other Korean BBQ places we have visited. We look forward to visits to Volusia County just to be able to stop here. Every category you can think of; the ambiance, the service, quality and quantity of food...everything is perfect. This time we arrived early afternoon. The lunch menu does have a few less options but also has a deeply reduced price. We honestly didn't feel like we were missing out. Bryan was the superstar of the day offering up the occasional pro tip on the types of dishes and cooking techniques. Checked on us often enough that we never needed anything without being too intrusive. I'd recommend the competition in places as far away as Orlando or Jacksonville spend time here and see how things should be done. We will return. read more

My husband and I just went to Hanwoo for opening day (at my husband's insistence). And oh my goodness, was it delicious! We have been to several different AYCE Korean BBQ places in the past, and this one definitely has some of the best quality of meat. The filet was extremely tender, and the New York strips was delicious. The beef bulgogi had great flavor and was also very tender. As soon as I bit into the corn dog, there was an awesome cheese pull. The cheese was sweet, and the hot dog was yummy. The hot dog itself was made of fish, but it did not taste fishy at all. The corn cheese had the same kind of cheese, so I was very happy I also tried the beef kimbap, which was filling but filled with fresh and pickled veggies. It made for a good bite, especially dipped in sauce. My husband had the chicken gyoza, and he liked it a lot too. The unlimited sides were awesome! My favorites were the radish, potato and egg salad, and spicy cucumber. Finally, for drinks, I got the Hanwoo Delight while my husband got the Mellow "Mango" (they did not have mango yet, so they replaced it with peach flavor). the fruity drink was our favorite! The yogurt one, I found, grew stronger with yogurt flavor as you drink it with your meal. All in all, very happy and will definitely be returning! read more
