We were so happy to find the Happy Clam right around the corner from our rental house. The lobster rolls were great and the star of the show was the blueberry pie! I ordered two slices of pie for the kids and could barely get even a bite of the pie without getting my hand chewed off.. but man was that pie awesome. We later order a full blueberry pie from a very fancy bakery later that week in Maine and the kids said Happy Clam Shacks blueberry pie was way better. Very cute exterior. Lawn seating outside and cornhole outside while you wait for your food! Loved it! She only makes 12 pies a day if you want a whole pie try to call ahead and let her know! read more

We stopped by this place yesterday as soon as they opened at 3 pm. The owner was by herself and was very nice and let us know that it might take longer than normal since people were piling in. We got 2- 1 1/2 pound lobster, corn, coleslaw and 2 lbs steamers for under $60, and it was worth every penny! The steamers were fresh and the lobster was even better. This review is just for the BLUEBERRY PIE. Stopped in here after eating elsewhere because we were in the mood for some blueberry pie. Sign said "blue pies" and we stopped in. $4.95/slice and $19.95/pie. So obviously... we bought the pie. When she handed it to me it was still warm and we couldn't help but sneak some bites in the car on our drive back to our cabin. Crust is flaky - buttery good and not too thick or pasty. The filling!!! Is so good. This coming from a person who doesn't really like pie because it usually tastes fake and too sweet. The filling was perfectly balanced - with just the right amount of sweetness that doesn't leave your teeth aching from the sugar. Totally worth getting the entire pie. While there I checked out their menu. The shore dinner (dinner for 2 essentially) includes 2 1-1/4 lobsters, 2 lbs of clams, and 2 corn for $34.95 which is a deal if I've ever seen one. We usually go to c-ray's next door but their 2 person deal is $39.99 and comes with only one pound of mussels (not clams). This place is by far one of the cheapest I've seen in the area. Still love c-ray's but definitely will be checking out this place for the food next time we're in town. Great place especially if you're on your way back from Acadia. We were stuck in traffic and decided to pull in and have "Linner" while we waited for the traffic to lighten up. We're SO glad we did! The Shore lobster Dinner was wonderful! We topped it off with their amazing blueberry pie! It's BYOB, but we had wine with us, so we were all set. The woman running the place was delightful. Okay people. I don't post on Yelp very often and I told the owners that I just had to. This is quite simply the best lobster roll I have had. Period. End of story I'll supplement by saying that the fresh-baked homemade rolls and drawn butter on the side is what makes their lobster roll a masterpiece. You can get fresh lobster in Bar Harbor and MDI almost anywhere, but they have the best twist on it with their naked lobster roll. And like other posts here, they are very friendly and make you feel very welcome. I asked about the lobsters and got a good education about boiling and how they are caught. The owners went out of their way with the buoys, smoker, and outdoor decor to really give you that great Maine feeling. Just a great way to end a perfect day. We had an awesome meal from the Happy Clam Shack. We wanted to grab lobster rolls before going to the fireworks in Bar Harbor. The owner had great suggestions on where to go then rushed our order to us so we could get going. We found a good spot and enjoyed our lobster rolls while watching the sunset. This is my favorite lobster shack in the last 2 days we've been in Bar Harbor/Acadia. The location is peaceful and perfect for outdoor eating. It has a steady stream of customers & not overcrowded. We ordered the naked lobster roll, a whole 1.5lb lobster (live, weighed and cooked x 15min), & a very generous helping of amazing blueberry pie (about 1/5 of a whole pie) for roughly $46 which includes a $5 lobster cooking fee. Price was highly reasonable considering we spent 2hrs+ in line & $63 @ Red's for 2 lobster rolls, side sea scallops & 2 drinks. The food is served in styrofoam to-go containers and utensils are provided. The seating is picnic bench and there is cornhole to pass the time. The staff is friendly and quick. We met & got to talk with some other customers which made for good company. The lobster was fiesty/fresh & perfectly cooked. The meat was sweet and I happened to get a female with lots of red roe (I love roe!!!). The drawn butter was tasty with the lobster meat tho not necessary to have. The lobster roll was on a crunchy toasted artisan bread (not a hotdog bun) & just the right amount of seasoned butter to draw out the juicy flavor of the tender meat. The meat was roughly 4oz (eyeballing as it wasnt weighed) but is just the right amount for one person. The pie...oh my word! Fantastic lobster shack only minutes away from our Airbnb and nicely outside all of the touristy craziness. So good my husband and I came here twice during our week in the Bar Harbor area. We got the special that came with two lobsters (soft shell), corn, and cole slaw each time - the cheapest place to find lobster meal on MDI (trust me, I shopped around). I wanted the lobster roll but they were out (it was pretty late, so come early if you want a lobster roll). The lobsters were fresh and sweet and easy to open being soft shell - first time I had soft shell by the way. The blueberry pie was delicious. Only wish was that it was served heated with the pie crust a little crispy. There is no indoor seating, just enjoy the rustic picnic tables. They have a big sink to wash your hands. There was some green space for our toddler to run around and a ball to keep him entertained. I enjoyed seeing the outdoor steamers. The couple who owned the place were super friendly. I wish there were lobster shacks like this in Connecticut! We'll be back next time we're in the area. read more

We found this place on Yelp and wanted to try it since the combos are not too expensive. The four of us ordered the Shore and the Lighthouse with a whole pie to share. We tried to call them multiple times but the phone was busy. We finally got through after the 6th time. We had to wait 30 mins for our food which was normal. When we got to the place, it was parked. The place doesn't do indoor dining and only do take out, which is understandable since it is family owned and only has 3 people working there. The shore came with 2 lobsters, 2 corns, 2 cold slaws, and butter dip. The lighthouse supposed to came with 2 lobsters, 2 corns, 2 lbs of clams, 2 cold slaws, and butter dip but sadly they forgot to give us the clams. We were super sad about that since we were really looking forward to trying them. The lobsters were super juicy. Our tablecloth was soaking wet after the meal. The best part was the butter dip. It was sooo good. There was a hint of sweetness and a little bit of saltiness to it. It made the lobsters so much better. I never ate lobster so fast in my life. I even kept the butter dip to try to eat something else with it. The pie was also amazing! I would definitely recommend going here just for the butter and the blueberry pie. Oh My God!!! First you should know that I have never really cared for lobster until about 10 min ago! This little unassuming shack on the side of RT. 3 is surely worth a stop! Before walking in there is a sign with the specials of the day. For $26 we had two 1 1/4 lb lobsters, coleslaw, corn and drawn butter. The owners son picked two lobsters out of the water, weighed them and brought them out to steam them. We sat at the picnic tables outside and squeezed in a quick game of cornhole while waiting. About 10 min later came the delicious smorgasbord of seafood goodness! The lobster was the best I ever had and the owner, Patty, personally showed us the best way to crack the lobster. We also added a cup of clam chowder, which was filled with good size clams and small potato chunks, it was perfectly buttery and came with a home made roll. So so good! After reading other yelp reviews, we HAD to get the blueberry pie, and so do you! Thin flaky crust, and the filling was with fresh Maine blueberries. Not too sweet, just right!
