Hidden gem located in a quiet and nondescript area of West Tampa. We went for lunch and ordered the seafood chaufa and pollo saltado. Both dishes were delicious. Although the prices seem higher than what the area may command, the serving size was generous (my chaufa has a lot of seafood!) and we ended up taking some home and making another meal out of our leftovers. I like the ambiance in here, especially the tv with fish & coral. It got me. I thought it was real . I ordered the tostones acebichados which is plantain cups filled with cebiche. The seafood was great. I didn't order the big dish of Cebiche because I wanted soup so I ordered Parihuela which is the seafood soup with fish, calamari, shrimp, octopus, and mussels. This was good. I have a preference for thick & savory but this was a good combination of spices with all the different seafood. I could taste the different fish and shellfish. It satisfied my hunger for soupy soup. Also I had a chicha morada which was sweet and for dessert asked for the suspiro a la limeña which was a super sweet but I like it sweet. Overall a pleasant place to eat. read more

I'm a big fan of Peruvian food so I was very excited. I ordered a Pisco Sour immediately. If you have not tried one yet, I highly recommend. The service was friendly and attentive. We ordered the ceviche mixto and the Tallarin Saltado de Carne. The Tallarin was tasty but the ceviche could have been better. Unfortunately, It didn't taste as fresh. Ceviche and Pisco Sour is Peru's most popular staples. The Pisco sour was spot on but the ceviche not so much. Overall it was a great experience and I'm definitely coming back but I was surprised to not see as many ceviche options in the menu. read more

4 stars for some tasty Peruvian food. We visited on a Saturday afternoon and we were the only ones when we walked in. It got pretty busy after we sat down. We ordered the Ceviche with Tostones cups for $12 to start. It was fresh and was nice with the tostones but it was a little small on the portion. I was hoping they'd give you the complementary inca corn or the wontons dips I saw from others but no longer offered. For our main dish we shared the Lomo Saltado for $18. The steak was very tender and came with white rice and french fries. We enjoyed our first visit and left feeling satisfied. I just gave it 4 stars because I feel for the prices they should be larger portions. Otherwise I would definitely recommend it if you're craving Peruvian! read more

First time to Happy Fish and we will be coming back. It's a hidden gem in the corner of a commercial lot, but the food and service are great. The owner, Kevin, came and greeted us and spoke with all the diners in the restaurant. Our server, Elizabeth, was very friendly and attentive. We had the new pollo a la brasa and the lomo especial. Chicken was seasoned well and had a nice smokey flavor from the charcoal. The lomo was also tasty and the shrimp, chicken, and beef were succulent and nicely seasoned. I wished they would have brighter lights it sometimes worries me when I go to place like this and your food well. Place was nice but outdated, my seat was not very comfortable, my table was clean and I was greeted quickly... my waitress was beyond friendly and attentive. The prices seemed on point for what your getting. I got the Peruvian tamal and the "macho" fish dish. They both were good I enjoyed the tamal with the fresh lime and onions they give you with it... made it feel light and flavorful. Very nice Peruvian place in a plaza corner full of stores and a supermarket. Tried a variety of plates from steak to fish. If you're looking for a fancy place with an amazing wine list and incredible service, this is not the place. Buuuuuttt....if you're looking for casual dining with very good food, this is the place. ‍ The three stars is based on the entire experience but truthfully the food was very good. The wife and I were meeting two friends there. We walked in and the place wasn't busy at all. We stood there for what seemed like an eternity and finally just picked a table to sit at. The staff just kept walking by us. A bus boy brought us menus and silverware. About 5 minutes later our friends arrived. We sat and talked with them for over 10 minutes and no one came by to even take a drink order. I finally got up, went to the bar and asked someone to take help us. Through the entire meal, anything we asked for wasn't delivered, e.g. - napkins, water, ice, etc. The 2nd bottle of white wine was given to use at room temperature. The server offered to bring an ice bucket, we said please and thank you but it never came . I actually had to get up and get things we needed twice myself during the meal. ‍ All of this aside, the food was very good. Everything had outstanding flavor and portions were large. I have no idea how much the check was because our friends secretly paid it without my knowledge. If they can improve their service the place would be fantastic but truthfully the food was good enough for us to go back.
