All you can eat hot pot?! What a deal! If you've ever made it at home or gone out for it, this is definitely top notch. I did the half and half on the brother, but I recommend the spicy broth as it had a lot more flavor. You pick your choice of meats and veggies at which point they'll bring it out and you can choose to keep ordering more or call it quits. The service was a bit off, but it's not their fault. You're probably going to think I'm making this up, but this really did happen. Apparently there was a natural gas leak somewhere in the strip mall and we had cops/firefighters come the entire time I was eating saying they might have to have everyone leave so the staff were dealing with that all night. read more

I've been here multiple times and they are very consistent with food quality and service. This is traditional hot pot which means they bring everything raw and you cook it yourself (this includes the meat and seafood). You can choose between all you can eat hot pot where you select what you want or you can choose their preset meals which include your choice of protein, soup base, and a medley of vegetables that include mushrooms, greens, and vermicelli noodles. This time around I came with two other people and we got a meal for 2 and a meal for 1. We chose both soup bases (regular and spicy) which they bring out in one large pot with a divider in the middle. We all got a plate of lamb and the 2 person meal came with seafood as well. The regular broth is pretty salty so we didn't feel there was a need for an additional sauce but they do have sauces (like sesame paste) available for an additional price (50 cents?). The spicy broth came with a lot of peppers in it and was pretty spicy. The meats were all pretty fresh and cut in very thin slices so that they cooked very quickly in the boiling broth. The vegetables were also pretty typical of hot pot and we had no problems with the quality. There was only one problem with service when the waiter brought us another table's food but that was quickly taken care of. Overall great experience and would recommend. My wife and I went with her Chinese parents who were visiting from China. As we had been there before we knew that the food would be good. But this time it was hard not to notice that the waitress we got was not even barely trying to do what we are accustomed to seeing in a service based industry... greet and treat people as if you are having a human interaction with them. She was not rude but just cold and very detached. I have been to China 5 times and have had all kinds of service. But this is Plano not China. It's all about service (particularly in this part of the US). Maybe this person has very little social skills or awareness, but then again, it comes back to management. Why would management hire someone like that? Even my in-laws were uncomfortable! And, when my wife spoke to her in Chinese it seemed the waitress didn't seem to understand some of what my wife was saying. There are many dialects and sometimes Chinese people can't effectively communicate (or at all) with one another. But it would be helpful if the waitstaff at a Chinese restaurant in an area which serves many Chinese people would speak Mandarin, the official language of Mainland China. And also, we had our 5 year old there and he noticed that there was ultimate fighting on the tv. I had to explain to him what it was. He was clearly disturbed and said, "I don't like it". I kindly asked the waitress to change it. She did but the next thing I knew there was a crime/murder show on with some graphic images of crime scenes and a murder weapon. Second time doing hot pot and first time at this location. Love the idea of cooking the food at the table with the items you specifically chose. Also great that it is all you can eat. Be sure you order just what you can eat. We had the three different flavored sakes and we shared the half and half original spicy broth with regular broth. Both were different and both good. I felt like the spicy broth was really good but there were a lot of large chunks of seasoning that I kept scooping most of it out by accident. Value, value, value! At lunch of course. I always wanted to visit here because it's one of the well known ones that you don't have to travel to Carrollton or Richardson to get to. For me, I'm not the type to pay $20 for a meal, so dinner was a no go for me. However, they do have a $10 lunch special and my gosh do they serve A LOT for $10. I'm talking noodles, lots of veggies, your choice of meat, and other assorted goodies. I must say I wasn't a fan of the extra plate of tripe/tofu/ whatever was on that little plate in the pic I added. Even so, everything else made me super full so if you're not a fan of a couple things you'll still be satisfied. We chose half and half and I'm glad we did because once I got too overwhelmed with the "spicy" side (which tastes a lot like chili), I could switch over the milky side (didn't really have a flavor). Well too start, I'd say coming in the place it looked great and we got seated fast. When we got the menus it was a bit confusing and we didn't get any information about the 3 different types. When we finally picked what we wanted on the menus the food came and soup. They had a nice selection of meats,seafood, veggies, etc do that was nice. To me the soups (spicy and original) had no flavor that made you say wow and if anything I feel like it made the taste worse. The spicy was just spicy and that's it; it made your mouth catch fire but you couldn't taste anything but spice and the original had a real milky taste to it. I love this place! We bought a Groupon to try it out, but I will definitely be going back. It was a great place to go in the winter, because of how warm the boiling pots make everything. I love that it is so different from a normal dining experience. The waitstaff was extremely helpful and considerate that we had never been there before. Right when we walked in the door I could see the disorganization. It took us about 10 mins to figure out they were on a number based system and we needed to put our names down. The lady called the wrong numbers several times and was super apologetic, but people were getting really upset. After finally being called 40 mins later it took some time to finally get our pot. We did half and half. It was milky, which is something I'm not used to and I can't say I care for. We did the combo for 4. First I will start with the cons. How come practically ALL hostesses at ANY restaurants want to sit you right next to everyone? Can you please spread us out? Do we have to be right next to everyone else? (that rant is for almost all restaurants) Secondly, the bar has a lot of work. They have a very limited drink menu, so you would think they could figure out the mixed drinks, but not so much. I have tried two different drinks and you should just order a beer. Now for the good part. :) The food is AMAZING!!! I can't tell you how much my husband and I love this food. They do kind of look at you like you are supposed to know what's going on the very first time. We obviously had no idea and had to ask, but the food is so good. We get spicy because we love hot food. We were both craving it the very next day. I now have a "hot pot" as well as seasoning packets, peppers ordered so I am going to attempt this at home. I actually came here today with my friend and her boyfriend, and my boyfriend as well. My friend been here multiple times and she said its really good. It's a bit pricey but definitely worth the price she said. Since today was a bit chilly we decided to meet up at the place and eat lunch. I noticed while reading a lot of the yelp reviews said the service was really bad, but my experience wasn't that bad at all. We had Ivan as out waiter I think, he always came around to check up on us and helped us out if we had any questions. We ordered the half original and half spicy. I liked the broths, but I wouldn't say I loved it. To me its just what kind of taste you're into. I wasn't too crazy over it. However, they had a TONS of selections to pick from. They had varieties of meat, vegetables, noodles, etc.. When it was time to order for the first round, we ordered lamb, shrimp, beef, pork, cabbage, fishballs, mushrooms, yam, potatoes, fresh cut noodles, and some quail eggs. We ordered multiple portions of it so by the time we finished we were completely filled up. When it was time for us to pay, the bill came out to be about $99 somethings dollars. I cried internally as soon as I laid eyes on the bill. They charged us and extra three dollars because we ordered the sauce, which I find ridiculous because its the freaking sauce. We had two orders of the sauce which came out about 3 dollars, I don't think they should charge extra for the sauce I just find it insane that they charged a dollar something for JUST the sauce and it wasn't that great either. I mean, I could eat it but it's not something to hype about. Anyways, we were about to pay for the bill and we found out that my friend forgot her wallet at home so my boyfriend decided to pay for them as well. The lady that was taking care of us seemed to be very rude when my friend told her that she forgot her wallet. My friends asked her if there was any way for her to pay for her part without giving her the actual card. Instead of giving her a nice answer, she gave her an attitude. That lady honestly looked like she hated her job and didn't want to deal with anyone else. It didn't really bother me much until she freaking chased us out of the restaurant and asked us if we were going to tip them. At first I didn't realize we were required to tip them, she literally hunt us down and made us tip them. I was like wtf, seriously? I have to admit, when we were done paying we immediately left the place without tipping. We didn't know she would run out to us and did all those extra stuff. I was seriously shooked, she suggested the " tip suggestions" So at the end we paid 13 dollars of tip. I was so freaking pissed until I looked at the receipt again and it said "tips suggestions". My friends told me that when she went there before, with the SAME amount of people she never was required to tip. So, my boyfriend went back inside and asked for our money back. He was in there quite a long time until he came out and told me that since our bill was about $100 she said we should be generous and give them tip. Seriously, everything was done ourselves. We cooked everything OURSLEVES, and fed OURSELVES. The only thing the waiter did for us was give us our food and refilled our water. He mentioned to her that he is willing to give tip but not ALL the tips that he gave her. While he was telling her all that the lady kept insisting for my friends to tip as well. She kept saying,"What about the other girl?" "Can you call her to come back?" "You think she will come back tomorrow?" literally that lady sounded like a beggar asking people for money. Seriously lady, just give us our money and move on with our lives. At the end we gave them six dollars of tip. My boyfriend was being nice and give them 6 dollars, if I was there I would've gave them less than that or even no tip after what happened. I was so irritated after what had happened. Apparently, we were talking to one of the customers that I was leaving right after the incident and he told us that the lady actually ran to their car and demanded for a tip. I was really pleasantly surprised by Little Sheep! For $19.99 or $14.99 for kids/seniors, you can do the buffet option. The ordering is actually very organized. They give you a worksheet for all the buffet options (+$1.99/person for premium items). You can mark how many servings you'd like for each round (1,2,3) per sheet. If you run out of rounds on the sheet, they'll give you a new one (but honestly, you can stack your rounds with lots of servings, we didn't even run out). The flavor of the broths are amazing as well! My favorite was the original, but the spicy was also very tasty! The service was actually very solid as well. We arrived promptly at 11am when they opened on a Saturday and had no problem landing a table for a party of 2 kids and 5 adults. They don't take reservations for parties under 8, but if you arrive when they open, I don't see any problems with getting seated. Also, our waiter was very patient in explaining the ordering process. He was attentive to our ordering needs and the staff quickly cleared empty dishes from the table. y'all, quit describing this as mongolian food. this chinese hot pot experience is about as mongolian as drunkenly faceplanting into a doritos loco taco conjures the experience of eating antojitos in mexico city. on that note- as possibly the only mongolian to review the restaurant, my standards for hot pot seem significantly higher than the majority consensus. in inner mongolia, this chain is like the KFC of hot pot restaurants. furthermore, my parents prepare a pretty impressive hot pot on a regular basis- knowing that i can drive to their house for an unrushed, mostly pleasant dinner sort of casts this place in a pallid light. because my reviews are starting to veer towards doctoral thesis-length, let me attempt to keep my list of observations about little sheep mongolian hot pot to only three points: 1. there's a 1.5 hour time limit on the $19.99 all-you-can-eat. and technically, it's not all you eat, because your options are also restricted to standard ingredients. no big deal, you say. i can eat my body's weight in lamb in 1.5 hours, you say. so much nope. you can only eat as much as your waiter is willing to bring you within the stingy time span. if you are our waiter, you will make two begrudging trips back to our table, bringing us less food each time and conveniently forgetting at least one item. there will be this beautiful, lucid moment in your life when you finally know what it feels like to be oliver twist. except you're actually paying for this meal. 2. the broth is really good. we opted for spicy, and i was not disappointed by the moderate heat, the concentration of szechuan peppercorns, and the heavyhanded use of aromatics. i would drink this broth all day every day. i would bathe in it. i would pour it into a neverending fountain and serve it at my wedding (worst wedding ever). 3. i had to find a water pitcher at a wait staff station, bring it to my table, and refill our own waters because this place was so busy that the waiters were scampering like house elves to keep up with the demand. this left approximately zero time for them to attend to water, which is sort of de rigueur when you're steadily shoveling salt and spice into your mouth. management should consider upping staffing in light of how busy this place can get. you should consider bringing your own water or something, if my experience was not an aberrant data point. the quality of the food is respectable, and the broth is genuinely good. this is not compelling enough for me to voluntarily return to the experience of sitting in a packed dining room that forcibly reminds me of china's overpopulation problem, staring dolefully at the diminishing returns of food that are bestowed upon me only once every quarter millennium, thirstily scanning the horizon for glorious, life-giving water. in summation, if this is your best hot pot experience ever...you've obviously only been eating hot pot in dallas. sorry about that, brah. read more

this review was posted a month after my actual visit. takes me a while to actually log onto the comp to finishing posting.... first time at this place. really surprised that showing up on a saturday at 7p, we would be seated after only a 15 minute wait! I guess everyone was out celebrating the new year weekend. since it was my wife and I's first time here we decided to go with the half spicy half regular hot pot. the broth was really flavorful. I must admit, I didn't try the regular broth but my wife says it was good. the "spicy" broth was not spicy at all to me, but then again, I can handle some pretty spicy stuff. the "all you can eat" is actually not all you can eat. you get to order more meats/veggies only three times but you're allowed to order as much as you want each time. we ordered so much on the first round that I only ordered a few things on the second round and never made it to the third. there's a disclaimer on the menu that if there's too much leftover then you would be charged extra so it deters you from ordering too much. we had quite a bit left over but they didn't charge us extra. try a little bit of everything, you'll like it all! this place has a "bar" but there's no alcohol yet so it's byob. I forgot about this from previous reviews but luckily I possess quick wits and remembered I can run next door to Jusgo market for wine ;) (EDIT: bar is open, no longer byob) I would give this place 5 stars but they put too much msg in their broth. read more

Ok, so I heard about this place from a friend and being the Hotpot fiend that I am, naturally I had to give it a try. To this point, the only other restaurant that I have gone to for Hotpot has been Mr. Shabu Shabu in Plano, and I only put up with their incredibly horrendous and lazy service because I knew not of another alternative (save for making my own, which of course is fantastic, but cleanup sucks). Anyhow enough about my ranting of Shabushabu (can you tell I'm bitter? Woops, better not get started on that again) sooo onto Little Sheep. So after walking through the double doors into the small and packed staging area for hungry Hotpot goers, the restaurant was clean and comfortable, albeit a bit small, but a smart decision by the owner not to overextend themselves into a space too large. Tables and booths line the inside of the restaurant and each table has the signature electric flattop for the Hotpot and the controls are pretty easy to use. The wait staff was friendly and pretty on point, and our waiter actually had a bit of snarky humor in him, which was a nice change to the usual dry Chinese (yes they speak mandarin) servers. So get on to the food review already!! Ok ok.. We opted for the all you can eat $19 or so per person plus another buck or two per person for the "premium all you can eat." So they have three options for you for the Hotpot: the house special(non-spicy), a spicy pot, and a yinyang of hot and spicy and the house special (ie they have one pot that is divided so you get the best of both worlds). Well I took my mom and sister and thus opted for the non-spicy House special, as mom isn't a fan of really spicy things.. The house special is a medley of Chinese herbs and other things such as whole garlic cloves, goji berries, and dried logans swimming in a delicious stock. ***RECOMMENDATION INTERLUDE*** If you enjoy soup and usually reserve said drinking of the soup for the end of your meal, I would recommend shifting this to the beginning, as the broth was quite tasty in the beginning, but by the end, it had reduced to a rather salty concentrated concoction (might ask them to add hot water next time to help this out). Now, onto the fixins... We ordered the sliced lamb, my absolute favorite protein for hotpot, as our main meat (though they do offer beef and pork as well). This was shaved to paper thin perfection and cooked perfectly after a few swishes through the bubbling broth. Now please note that this broth does impart flavor to whatever you're cooking, so you don't necessarily need a dipping sauce, but I happen to make an orgasmic sauce, and hotpot just isn't Hotpot unless I have it.... So I brought my own. They do have sauces for $0.50 per sauce if you want it though. They have as well, your staple ingredients for the Hotpot; napa cabbage, lettuce, beef meat balls (but I would have rather had pork, as those are much tastier to their bovine counterpart, in my opinion), fish paste balls, squid balls, silken tofu, fish tofu (these were sooo good!), beef tendon, tripe, all sorts of mushrooms, tong hao vegetable (another staple for Hotpot), octopus, and a bunch of other stuff... All fresh well cleaned and delicious. They also have a few different types of noodles and other seafood that you can order, but we were plenty full, so we didn't get to that stuff. We also ordered a sesame bread, which was a bit greasy, but good, the lamb skewers, very cumin-y and delicious, and these red bean filled fried pumpkin mochi-esque cakes for dessert, also greasy, but super tasty and awesome combination of crunch from being fried with the chewy of the mochi-type outside. Overall, I really liked this place and would definitely be back.. They have a healthy and large variety of ingredients to pick and choose from, coupled with good service. My only complaint really was that the broth was, by the end of the meal, a bit overwhelmingly salty and the Chinese herbal flavor became a bit overly concentrated, which again, I think could be remedied by having the staff add hot water. So in conclusion, go hungry and you shouldn't be disappointed here, but be prepared to wait (20-30 mins was my experience, which is much better than getting seated and waiting longer than that to even get a drink at Mr. Shabushabu.. Woops! There I go again.. My bad) if its cold outside, since everyone will be wanting to warm up with a delicious hotpot and there will be a line (I can't help but to think how well this place will do during the hot texas summers though). Had been eating at this place since the time before they even have an all you can eat buffet. All I can say is that the menu gets smaller and smaller for the all you can eat and price gets more expensive. Though the food is still good but the service has too became too horrible to come back. They took forever to clear a table for 3 even though they clear have empty tables. That wasn't a big deal. They take our first round of order and left out a few items and took forever to bring it. That was much of a big deal either. We then ordered a second round and they never came back. We wait and wait and wait....for almost 30 minutes and we told the waiter that passed by a couple of times to get our food too but they never came back. I had one of the worst experiences eating out here. The food is good, but the service is terrible. Our server was rude, unhelpful, and ignored us for a good amount of time. My party had the all-you-can eat hot pot, and on our second and third rounds of ordering, half of what we ordered never came. Then we got several plates of food that we did not. No one in my party could enjoy the food or the experience because of the terrible service. We received about $60 in coupons with our bill though, which is something. I came into this place not sure what to expect. For $21.99 you could do all-you-can-eat or choose to pay for each individual thing separately. There are two different soups to choose from, the original and the spicy. I really enjoyed the spicy broth at first, but when the servers refill it, they just pour the original broth into it which diluted the spicy flavor quite a bit. After awhile, it did not taste as good. As for the meat, it all seemed pretty fresh. Everything was just alright and nothing really stood out. I found it annoying that for a big group of 6, we could only order 2 of the seafood at a time for each "round" such as mussels and shrimp. I didn't understand why they couldn't just bring out a large plate if this was truly all you can eat instead of dealing with the "rounds." Overall, everything was just average. Not worth the money for all you can eat, won't be coming back. My family ordered the half and half hot pot as mom is vegetarian, and both of the starting broths were tasteless. The meats(beef and chicken) were extremely tough, and the sauces(garlic, sesame, satay) did not complement hot pot at all.
