Once you walk through the doors, Happy Lemon is immediately on your right, so it's super convenient. This location almost always has a long line. The space itself is very small with limited seating, so most people end up taking their drinks and waffles to-go or standing outside. It's usually warm inside, and it smells like fresh bubble waffles and boba being made nonstop. My family and I went on a Sunday, which is probably one of the busiest times at the mall, so the line was especially long. We ordered a bubble waffle and did half chocolate, half matcha. They charged extra for the matcha, so honestly, I'd recommend just getting a full matcha waffle or choosing a fully premium flavor instead of splitting it, since you're going to be charged more either way. The waffle was about $8, which felt a little pricey for what it was. The flavor wasn't super strong, but it was very sweet and had a really nice crispy texture. I also really like their drinks. We came here on a weekday late evening at 730pm. Ordered 2 bubble waffles and a drink. I wanted to try the Oreo bubble waffle. They gave me a heads up that making the waffles would take about 18minutes. After some observation, I noticed why it took that long. They have 4 waffle makers but since it was late, they were just using one while the other ones are already clean or in the process of getting cleaned. So, while I was observing, I noticed that she was still in the middle of cleaning one of the makers and didn't even start on my order. It was only after she was done cleaning that she made the waffles. I don't understand. Why can't you just put the batter in the maker and clean the other makers that weren't in use?? It didn't take 18 minutes -- more like 30 minutes! How did I know? My drink had a timestamp and I knew what time I left. OMG....why?! That gal was taking her sweet time and cleaning very slow might I add -- one aluminum foil piece at a time and wrapping the wires. There were still customers coming in 15 minutes before they close too (they close at 800pm). Boo on them - customer service, oh really? Not for me this time. Ice level isn't adjustable for this drink since it's a blended drink. I wouldn't call it icy though.. more creamy than icy. I have been visiting this Happy Lemon store for years. It's a must whenever we go to Bellevue Square. The biggest challenge is that there's always a long line; however, if you can manage to be at Bellevue Square before noon, the line is normally short and sweet. While most people order boba drinks, I prefer their taro balls over boba. Those taro balls are not normally seen at other boba places, so this makes Happy Lemon unique. If you haven't tried taro balls, I would recommend you to try. I also love the egg waffles here. Recently, they got a new flavor matcha egg waffles. A bit bitter than plain egg waffles, but matcha waffles go so well with the sweet tea. When the tea is sweet, you need something bitter to go with. When the tea is bitter, you need something sweet to go with. The customer service is generally good, though everybody seems extremely busy. Note that this Happy Lemon location IS OPEN during COVID for TAKEOUT ONLY! My brother and I came here after doing some shopping returns at Bellevue Square. In the past, this location has always had lines out of the door. I think my friend told me that it's the most popular Happy Lemon location in Washington. However since COVID, the lines have decreased significantly. My brother and I came here at around 11:30am on a weekday and there was only one other customer in the store. I ordered a large boba milk tea (A3) with no ice and 50% sugar ($4.85) and my brother ordered an Ube (purple sweet potato) fresh milk with taro balls ($5.75) with less ice and 70% sugar. With tax, my total for both drinks came to $11.66, so a little on the steep side, but not uncommon on the Eastside. Since there was only one other customer, we got our orders within 15 minutes of ordering. Never go to Happy Lemon during late afternoon; I had to wait 45 minutes at the Issaquah location after ordering by phone at 4pm. Thankfully, this bobarista was much faster. Their boba milk tea was passable, but I think that Coco's milk tea is better. The boba pearls though were sweetened and had a good chew. However, I ended up liking my brother's Ube drink better. I thought the taro balls would just be chunks of taro, but they were actually mixed with rice flour and therefore more like little mochi balls which I really liked. While I probably would've gotten 50% sugar for his drink, it was much more unique and tastier than mine. With that said though, I don't think it was worth $6 plus tax. All employees were wearing masks and gloves. Payment is also completely contactless as they only accept cars (unless you have exact change). The dirtiest happy lemon I have been to, and the place made me squeamish. Thank God they're cashless because what I saw was awful. The line is out the door, which I totally understand since it's bellevue square mall. But the owner should make a conscience effort to clean counters and floor of litter. Also, you can see the workers and owner go to the back put drink mixing utensils on the bare counter and then not wash item, using it for the next customer's drink. However, a few days ago, I went to the Happy Lemon in Issaquah and had a great experience, and had ordered ahead of time via Uber Eats. I decided to do the same with this location, ordering before I entered the mall, and then running my errands while I waited for my order to be ready. At 8:05, I got a notification my order was ready to be picked up. I walked over to Happy Lemon and asked for my order at 8:07. The employee working told me that it wasn't ready yet and that it would be ready in 3 minutes. At 8:17, my order was finally ready....12 minutes after it said it had been. In the 10 minutes i waited, the area was a chaotic mess. People didn't know where to stand in line, if there even was a line, didn't know if their order number was being called, and as a result, people were crowding and definitely not social distancing. Apparently there's nothing happy about this location. If they're going to be that busy, they need to learn how to staff better. I will not be returning to this location. read more

I ended up getting the Strawberry Jasmine Green Tea with Rock Salt Crema and my boyfriend got the Roasted Milk Tea. While we were there, we also decided to get a bubble waffle with half matcha and half chocolate. I didn't love my drink as it reminded me of strawberry Minute Maid (maybe like a 2.5/5 for my drink :/ ) I wasn't getting enough tea flavor and tasted quite artificial, but I did really like the crema on top. Although I wasn't in love with my drink, I really liked the Roasted Milk Tea (this is where the 4/5 rating comes from). The drink wasn't too sweet, the roasted tea leaves could definitely be tasted in the drink, needless to say I was impressed with this one! For the waffle, I really liked the flavors we chose, but my boyfriend didn't care for the matcha side as it was a little less in flavor and maybe a tint of bitterness from the matcha tea flavor, however, I didn't really mind. The young lady at the counter taking orders warmly greeted everyone (which is not a normal occurrence at the other Happy Lemon location in Bellevue.) Located in Bellevue Square across the lego store, I'd say Happy Lemon is the only decent place to get boba within the mall. Other places such as Mi Tea and Chamei are fine, but I'll always choose Happy Lemon instead. They have a wide variety of drinks! If you want something fruity/refreshing I love the Strawberry Black tea with lychee jelly, if you're lactose intolerant like me and still enjoy other drinks, I also recommend the Ube Fresh Milk with Taro Ball!
