What an interesting concoction! Who would've thought that salted cheese in any drink would be a nice touch?! Happy Lemon sure did. I know it sounds weird, but if you haven't already, I definitely recommend giving any of the salted cheese teas a try. I personally like the Black Tea Salted Cheese. There's even a "proper" way to drink it, which is at a 45 degree angle. So, be sure not to shake it like a Polaroid picture! Another weird concoction I indulged in was the Mango Matcha Smoothie. I never imagined having the two together, but it was also delicious, not too sweet and the matcha wasn't overbearing. I recommend getting it with mango chunks as it adds a yummy fresh fruit taste to it. I'm glad my boyfriend's sister introduced me to this place, while visiting the Bay Area. I found my drinks which has changed my mind about happy lemon. The jasmine green tea lemon slush is so delicious, sour and I love the texture of the lychee jelly. The matcha latte with salted cheese was also good, but tasted lightly of matcha and almost had a stronger traditional green tea flavor. Their salted cheese still isn't my favorite, I prefer it from other places. The mango green tea, passion green tea and dragonfruit/lychee drinks are also tasty. This review is way, way overdue. I have visited this happy lemon multiple times per week for over 2 years and am extremely satisfied with my experience every time. I have a big family, therefore have orders of over 10 drinks each time. I usually order ahead over the phone, and each and every employee is always so patient and perfectly records my order. It is always ready immediately upon my arrival and I swear they have never messed up a drink in my millions of visits here. All of the employees are so amazing and friendly, most especially the manager/owner, who knows me by name and always goes above and beyond to customize my drinks to my liking and make sure I'm always happy with my orders. There was one occasion where the line was so long and I was in a rush to pick up my order and could not wait, and the owner just walked up to me and handed me my order and instructed me to come by and pay later or next time I visited when it was less busy. Who does that??? So freaking kind and trusting and amazing. I love it so much here. The store itself is always extremely immaculate. Their rewards program gives so many free drinks! Their tea is absolutely delicious, especially their puff cream milk tea and salted cheese drinks. I don't think I've had a drink I don't like here. Happy Lemon - Happy Customer. I've been to other Happy Lemon locations that are more spacious; however, this area is convenient if you're around Pleasant Hill/Concord area. It's in a plaza next to a 7/11, Nail spot, Starbread & across from a Nordstrom Rack/Mall. There are few chairs and seating areas, but there are about 4 tables/multiple chairs. Not ideal for larger groups, but I came with a group of 6 & 1 stroller and we managed to squeeze in the corner near the door. Now that it's summer, it gets pretty hot in there. There's a fan near the bathroom, but there is no air conditioning circulating.. I mean, maybe they are working on it & the fan is temporary, but all I know is that it was hot in there! Staff was super nice and accommodating, but we were sad that they ran out of cheesecake on a weekend :( Lastly, their boba is yummy. We def had a boba overload since we were ambitious and wanted to try almost every flavor / combo. We all ordered 1 drink & ended up getting a second drink... each! The salted cheese cream and puff drinks are delicious (if you like rich flavors). The slush drinks are yummy if you're looking for something refreshing too. All of these milk tea place keep popping up and I AM ALL FOR IT. The location is easy to find. It's on Contra Costa Blvd, across the street from the mall, super close to DVC, and just a few blocks from Target. The space is nice. A few tables inside to chat about. But that usually doesn't matter to me because when I get milk tea I usually head out to enjoy the rest of my day. Menu is easy to read. Love that they have Oreo milk tea. But I went with my usual! This location is no different. It has a great location, very cute decor, and of course amazing drinks. It's also pretty cramp; I just wait outside until they call my number. P R O C E S S : Wait in line, order and they'll give you a little laser cut lemon head with a number on it; it's basically your golden ticket to get your drink. *I highly suggest getting their Reboot card. Every $4 you spend = 1 point, 10 pts = 1 free drink (extra toppings will be a charge). S E R V I C E : Aside from their busy opening, the staff was so nice! My daughter and I decided to give this place a try based on the great reviews and location. We were across the street at the Rack. Staff was friendly. I was curious about the salty cheese they are known for. First impression it sounded weird to me but I was curious since that's what people come for. We went with their top drinks. I got their #1 seller, black tea with salty cheese add grass jelly. My daughter got their #3 puff cream milk tea that comes with boba. Drinks were made timely and staff was very friendly. I think we were both expecting more, to be wowed but that didn't happen. We were a little let down tbh. Her milk tea tasted fine but it was extra creamy due to the puff cream. She ended up feeling super full after a few sips. Mine tasted okay too. Similar to a milk tea but with salty cheese instead. Taste was so light I could barely taste much flavor. Traffic to get there was non-existent, there were lots of parking spaces and it wasn't busy at all. I ordered my favorite drink from them -- green tea with salted cheese -- and it was a fast transaction. And the drink, of course, was so delicious. I want to say that it was slightly better and more flavorful from the Berkeley location. This place just recently opened up across the sunvalley mall. I heard about their opening from a friend and thought id try it because ive tried most all the boba places around the area (MTL, quickly, sharetea, etc) compared to other boba places the seating is very very minimal, its a tight fit. The boba however taste amazing here. probably one of my favorites. I was scared to try the salted cheese drinks because, salted cheese and boba?? i wasnt sure what to expect. I got the black tea w/ salted cheese. it taste almost like a crema drink and it doesnt taste at all like the cheese i was expecting. My boyfriend got the lemon yakult and it was suppper sour. thats to be expected though hence the lemon lol. the mango yakult on the other hand was the perfect ammount of sweetness. i love mango so that one i also really recommend! It's located just a few minutes from Sun Valley Mall in Concord so its pretty convenient to pick up a drink and go shopping. Parking around Happy Lemon isn't bad at all, they have plenty of spaces open with small businesses around the surrounding area and a Safeway across the street. The line can get long depending on where you go but the drinks are all made to order at a good pace so you shouldn't hopefully have to wait that long. If you haven't heard of Happy Lemon, they're famous for their salted cheese drinks. Sounds sketchy but trust, it's delicious only if you drink it a certain way lol I believe they have a guide on how to drink it. I recommend ordering the black milk tea with salted cheese for your first time. It's perfect combination or salty cheese and sweetness. My good friend and I have unofficially decided this is one of our favorite boba spots within the area. 4.5 stars of 5, rounded down since it always have a bit chaotic feel once you're within the inside. 'It's so damn good. Chinese - from China business. My favorite item of theirs is the Grapefruit Yakult/Yogurt (depending on the location) drink... which they typically add grapefruit pieces and has the two layers making a nice beautiful sunset upon receipt. I take it with 50% sweetness and 25% ice, and the slight bitterness from the grapefruit makes this drink extra mouthwatering. The mango Yakult couldn't be more of a better combination--a slight sourness paired with overall sweetness. A word of note is that the sweetness level at 75% (default is 100%) is still pretty sweet. The black tea with cheese foam is what you'd expect, they won't disappoint you. The jasmine green milk tea has a light sweet tea taste in every sip. The boba felt soft, so you know it's fresh. I randomly stumbled on this Happy Lemon location in Pleasant Hill and I'm so stoked since I don't have to drive into the busy area of Concord to get good milk tea. Not to mention that parking is easily accessible and it's on the way coming from El Sobrante so definitely really easily accessible from the direction I'm coming from. I've never had a bad experience at Happy Lemon in terms of the service, wait, and quality of the drink. So I was very happy about the black tea salted cheese drink that I ordered. Though I would order a regular instead of a large next time just because I thought it was too much to enjoy. And it was kinda stuffy inside the store. It felt cooler outside than it did inside even though it was 80 degrees outside too, but the lack of air conditioning inside wouldn't deter me from coming here. Been searching for a good boba place in the area for a while now but so far this place is my number one choice. I'm a huge fan of taro milk teas and was kind of iffy about coming here because they didn't offer that, however, they offered the taro milkshake. Because they don't use powdered taro, they don't offer the milk tea version. They blended my drink with real taro! It was such a delight and it tasted so different from the powdered drinks other boba places offer. Their boba is also very flavorful, not too hard, not too mushy. My boyfriend also ordered their grapefruit slush and they also use fresh grapefruit in it as well! This will be our go-to boba spot. Still experimenting other places though! read more
