The Staff are Happy which makes sense Good Food Good Mood. We had the pretzel bites with hatch chile queso and mozzarella sticks, both were the perfect snack before a festive night in downtown. We have had the smash burgers from the Happy Place Food-truck before and they are delicious. We ran into a few friends having beer while we were there. Stopped by today to check out the vegan chicken sandwich and it was delicious!!!! So excited to have another place to grab a bite to eat in Ventura and to have a chicken sandwich option was even better!!! They had a vegan happy sauce too which was fantastic and fries were solid as well. Highly recommend stopping in here for a quick bite. Went in for happy hour and the prices were amazing! Got the fries (came out fast, hot, and super crispy), prosciutto pineapple pizza (delicious!!!) and the tarantula liquid candy beer (also super delicious!). Everything was absolutely delicious. The smash burger was super satisfying and the fries were perfectly crispy. One of the coolest things was how they serve their beer. They fill the glass from the bottom, and a magnet seals it--it's such a fun touch! Even better, you can collect the magnets, and when you have 10, you can get a beer for just $1. But honestly, the highlight of our visit was the amazing cashier. She was genuinely happy to be there, clearly passionate about the food, and went above and beyond to make sure we were enjoying everything. I went with my family for lunch at around noon. They open at 11 so i figured they would be ready for customers. We walk in and the manager or maybe owner it seemed like, took awhile to acknowledge that we walked in. He said that last night they had a party or something and that we couldn't sit inside because they weren't ready. Which was fine with us but he acted like it was an inconvenience that we were customers. It was also noon and being so behind an hour after they were open was weird. But nonetheless we sat down outside and the menus were sticky with red wine, like sticky gobs of wine. We got up and left. If the menus are gross how do you know if the kitchen is gross too. Alright where can I begin. Beer/Wine/Cider Excellent selection of beers really at least for my taste since I am mostly an IPA drinker so the selection was great for me. Not entirely certain stouts and ports go with pub food much anyway...but hey Sky if you are listening Wine was decent needs more selection but what was offered was good enough Cider is Cider so I had a balcom and it was decent enough nice and refreshing. Now to food. Happy Loaded Smash Fries are just...well amazing actually went back twice in a week just to have more because I keep craving them, even my girlfriend grabbed one all to herself and she doesn't eat a whole lot so I was surprised she finished it (it was that good) My friend seemed to enjoy his Western Smash burger as well. Finally the staff. Gotta show love to Derrick and Sky they made for excellent conversation and just all around friendly vibes. The burger from the restaurant wasn't bad, but had WAY too many onions and wasn't really smashed/crispy on the edges. The burger I had from the food truck was amazing. What a cute spot in downtown Ventura! We are new to the area so we are discovering all the new places to eat. Sadly worst dinner out I can recall. Strangely enough was asked to prepay and provided a tip before receiving anything so this should have been a sign. Ordered a BBQ chicken salad for almost $20. What arrived was a shallow plate with a small amount of wilted lettuce, a few tomato slices , a few chicken tenders, no avocado and no "crispy onions" . Mentioned this to staff and it was returned with a few stale cold fried french onion pieces obviously out of a can. Whole meal was inedible. Did not refund the bill for the entire plate which was inedible and uneaten. Basically $3 worth of food so now out $20 for nothing. read more

I was so disappointed with this place after hearing about it opening up for months now. The environment here was nice but everything else was terrible. The customer service here was poor and lacked professionalism and the food was overpriced. The burgers were not special for the price. Definitely not worth the wait. Very disappointed in the business owners response to try to defraud me. I did collect the magnetic holders for the cups after drinking my beer so I'm not sure if he's wanting proof. But to elaborate on my service, the staff was on their phones at the bar ignoring customers. When I asked staff for recommendations on beer and the food they answered "we are new and I'm not sure what's good yet" and "it should say what it comes with on the burger on the menu." Very rude in my opinion because I wanted to double check because I have allergies and want to double check. Not saying the food was bad but just definitely not worth the wait in my opinion. Been going to the Happy Place store for a long time for the amazing selection of Craft Beers and been wanting to try out their Eatery. I must say we were not disappointed. The Smash Burgers had the perfect amount of char and were juicy and delicious. We also tried the Buffalo Wings and were blown away. Perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. We washed it all down with the Pier Fog Collab from Ventura Coast Brewing/Happy Place Eatery. Totally crushable! It was nice and hoppy with tropical notes and a smooth not too bitter finish. Must try some before it's all gone. All in all we had a great experience. The staff was helpful and friendly and the place has a warm welcoming vibe.
