Lots of options on the menu including bulgogi! I came to a sushi restaurant and ended up trying the bulgogi, it was good but I will try other rolls here thr next time I come. You are bound to have good value for anything on their menu!

My friend and I came here on a Sunday lunch without any wait. There is very limited parking nearby (only 2-3 spots) so I recommend parking somewhere else and walking over. Staff were quite responsive and nice. I got the Karaage appetizer and the Rockstar special roll. Karaage (2/10): This appetizer was a let down. It felt like it was frozen food that was airfryed and didn't have much flavor. I would avoid getting this. Rockstar Roll (8/10): Now this was good! There was a good amount and the fish portions were plentiful. This roll had a perfect balance of freshness and flavor without being too overpowering and sauce. Each bit felt refreshing and fulfilling. Overall, I would come back here just to eat their other special rolls. This is definitely a solid place to eat sushi!

Very happy with my sushi. We ordered thru UberEats for lunch and I can't get much happier. My partners favorite was the sushi burrito, a thinly wrapped tortilla with imitation crab and spicy tuna, no rice. We saw no one tried it and we were the first on Yelp at least, and it blew his mind. We also got the Lion King and Amigo, which he also enjoyed as well. I got the hamachi maki and sake maki which I enjoyed, the hamachi did have some parts that were hard to chew but otherwise okay. I hated the wasabi from here though, it was more sour than spicy and umami. Mussels were really nice, didn't overload on the mayonnaise and had enoki on it! The beef teriyaki was standard but delicious. Will be back for sure!

I ordered on DoorDash because it looked good in the pictures. Presentation was great. Too bad it lacked in flavor. I ordered the lion king and spider roll. Took 2 bites of each and that was it.

I come here all the time (at least once every other week) for a quick reasonably priced to-go bento box. I acknowledge that the quality isn't the greatest but it's decent. The 3-item bento is worth the price for the quantity of food; I can usually stretch it to last two meals. I've only dined in once and the interior is cute and service was fine. Most of their business comes from to-go orders (making it usually pretty empty inside) and they have a very easy online ordering system.

It's pretty warm in the restaurant with some flies around. Server was super nice and always checking up on us. Nigiri was good with the exception of a couple pieces. Baked green mussels had good flavor but some were a bit tough and chewy. My favorite appetizer was the octopus karaage. The batter was n light and crispy and the octopus was tender. Didn't care for the house salad dressing but the miso soup was good.

Happy Sushi is a solid go-to spot for sushi in Santa Clara. We stopped by for dinner and found a simple, no-nonsense sushi restaurant. Despite being run by just one chef and one server, they keep things moving efficiently--even during busy hours. These guys are pros! As you decide on your sushi order, the soft sounds of jazz playing in the background create a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. We ordered several rolls, and they arrived quickly and exactly as requested. The sushi itself was fresh, satisfying, and definitely above average--but not the best I've ever had. One thing that stood out was the steady stream of DoorDash and pickup orders, proving this place is a favorite for takeout. If you're looking for quick, consistent sushi at a great price, this is the spot. Some rolls are only $7, making it one of the more affordable sushi options in the area. TL;DR Service is friendly and operation is efficient Sushi is solid for a great price Prime location in Santa Clara off El Camino Great spot for Door Dash or takeout If you're in Santa Clara and craving a quick sushi fix, Happy Sushi won't disappoint.

I was happy to find this place open till 8:00pm on Thanksgiving day (an hour earlier than their normal business hours, but good enough for me). Ordered for pickup in advance. The restaurant had a cute atmosphere with indoor seating, no one dining in on this holiday evening, not surprisingly, but a handful of takeout orders were neatly bagged and sitting on the table, my order ready when I arrived. The staff grabbed my bag and politely handed it to me, a simple and smooth process. I really enjoyed the baked lobster roll, with shrimp and crab meat and a lobster mix (large flavorful chunks), and a nice kick from the spicy mayo. It was so delicious, and a decent size for a meal. Wow, I sometimes feel like all sushi spots are fairly the same, but this one stood out to me with the quality and taste. It was definitely memorable, and makes me wanna come back for more.

Can't remember all the names. One of them was the Oregon roll.

My friend and I looked for a last minute restaurant, and we picked this spot. The inside is very cute and cozy. We ordered an appetizer and 3 rolls. I also ordered a bento box togo. We both enjoyed the takoyaki quite a bit! There was a good amount of octopus inside. The outside had a nice light crisp to it and wasn't soggy. Good balance of texture. The service was prompt. It looks like there is just one gentleman manning the front, but service was never delayed. Overall, this is a good place for a quick fix. It's not bad nor wild good. It's your average sushi place. Prices were also decent and affordable for the sizes. Neither one of us got sick, so cleanliness isn't an issue. Bottom line: decent for a quick fix.

the parking lot is on the smaller side, limited spaces the sushi was underwhelming tbh and the service was okay. the place was empty yet the service felt rushed and the server barely checked up on us. at least we got our sushi order right away after we ordered. also noticed there's multiple cameras around. the interior decor is cute tho

First, parking was absolutely scarce. I believe they only have 1 designated customer parking spot. Interior is quite quaint and cute with "hut-like" bamboo booths. Service was underwhelming but friendly. The food was average. Nothing special. House salad dressing was overly sweet. Water was room temperature and was only filled once. Teriyaki beef was so tough. Fish wasnt the best quality, but it'll do if youre really craving for sushi. Their cali roll and spicy tuna roll were really good. They also had lots of doordashers coming in (which is good for business), but since they crowded in the middle area of the dining area, it was super distracting for people dining in.

Still serving sour avocado and egg!!! Terrible sushi. Not fresh at all. I would avoid this place as their food is not of quality and tastes old. I had to throw out half my meal and so did my partner. Wasted money and time.

Ordered over the phone for takeout and it was ready in 20 min on a Sunday afternoon! Good fish to rice ratio and tasted fresh enough. Very affordable pricing. I got the Alaska and lion king for $25! What a bargain! Cute Japanese decor and little booths for seating.

Hello? Yelp status says you are operational but we came last Friday and you were still close. By any chance you're open now?

We will reopen on December 19th afternoon. Thank you :)

Is this place ever re opening?

They are open now as of January 2023.

Why are you close? This is our regular fridate! :-(

    They are closed

Does anyone know if Happy Sushi is still open? They haven't been taking online orders for many days now.

They are temporarily closed, reopening at the end of September!

Have they re-opened after the temporary closure?

    They're now opened!!!

Is there a way to get in touch with the previous owner? Have they opened elsewhere?

I don't know. I did leave my email id with them, because my family did like the restaurant a lot. If I find out, I can post back.

We made a reservation ahead of time so we got to sit down without waiting. Our waitress was very kind and food came after ordering within reasonable waiting time. We ordered two tofu bowl dishes, honey rice drink, yellow plum wine and spicy oxtail. The tofu bowl is much smaller than other restaurants. The meal came with 10 small banchan dishes for each person, all delicious. My mix tofu bowl had a piece of real snow crab in it which explains why it cost $29. The oxtail was my favorite. It wasn't very spicy and was very soft and tasty. The honey rice drink and yellow plum wine were both good. The ambience was noisy, we had to speak louder so we could hear each other. My daughter paid for the bill and I got up to go to the restroom. The bathroom was small. There are two stalls in the bathroom so there was only limited space for more than one people to stand and wash their hands in the sink. When I finished using the toilet and was about to wash my hands and to floss my teeth, the door to the other stall opened and a Korean lady and her two young daughters came out. Since I was still searching in my purse for the floss, I let one of the little girl to wash her hands first. In the meantime time the bathroom door opened and it was the waitress who served at our table. So at this time, there were five people standing together in this very tight space. Since our waitress was so nice serving us, I moved myself into the tight space between the sink and the stall so she could open the door to the stall and use the toilet. Then I heard a loud noise, 'Can you move and give my daughter more space?' I turned my face around and saw this Korean lady was waving her hand towards me while her other daughter was playing with the water in the sink. I felt so intimididated and told her that I was making room so the waitress could get inside the stall. Sensing the unfriendly attitude from the Korean lady, I snuggled away from the sink where her daughter stood. Then the Korean lady sent both her daughters away and went in to use the bathroom. I quickly washed my hands, flossed and left. I did not want to argue with her because how you can one talk sense with a rude person? What will you do if you were me? This episode spoiled the whole evening!

I got the galbitang (the special magnum galbitang was already sold out for the day), and my friend got the chef's special rice cake and dumpling soup. Both came out perfectly hot but not burning, and were the comforting, rich, savory and flavorful stews that we were craving. The galbitang had a generous amount of rib meat that was tender but not falling apart, and the perfect amount of glass noodle. The broth was clean and savory, and I really enjoyed the bits of jujube. I tried a bit of the rice cake and dumpling soup as well, and the dumplings were super large with a soft tofu? filling that was really enjoyable with the creamy soup. Special shoutout to the banchan - one of which was raw marinated crab which was super sweet and tasty with the rice. I also really appreciated the barley tea and the sweet pumpkin soup at the end for dessert, which really round out the experience. There's also a pumpkin porridge in the beginning as an appetizer, but I didn't love it because it had a bit of a raw rice flour type flavor to it. Kalbi (BBQ Short Ribs): Really well-marinated, tender, and delicious. The Banchan : A huge plus here is that the side dishes are completely refillable, which is always the mark of a generous Korean restaurant. The Drinks: Just a heads-up if you order the flavored soju--don't expect a mixed cocktail or a fancy drink setup. It's literally just a standard bottle of flavored soju. It was a bit of a disappointment if you're looking for a crafted drink, so stick to regular beer or straight soju if that's your preference.
