This is your typical fast food Chinese joint. Nothing too exciting, the staff was nice and the food was OK. The tables were a bit dirty and I had to ask for someone to wipe it down for me. I'll cut them slack because it was during the lunch rush hour. So far, this is the best Chinese food in the area. It's inexpensive and it never disappoints. You'll find a line at almost any time but it moves pretty quickly. Basic Chinese fast food. They have everything you would expect them to have: BBQ Pork, teriyaki chicken, orange chicken, beef n broccoli, etc. They are a good deal since they give you so much food. Because of that, they are real popular and its not uncommon to have a crowd with a constant line. Because of the non-stop orders, the food turnover is pretty fast so everything is fresh. i used to like coming here mostly for the portions and the good prices.. I decided to have a early lunch at 11 the food was freshly made the kitchen door was open i sat in the table where you can see inside. CASH ONLY PLACE!! that is the ONLY downfall but not enough to make it less than a 5 star!! They give you OVER THE TOP plate of chow mein and rice. There food is authentic. A lot of other places, when you re-warm up the food, it takes nasty and dry. This place takes even better, non greasy. The BBQ pork is not fatty, its all meat. They are always packed. Always a huge line and always huge portions. You can't go wrong. All the Chinese food places like this give you lots of food, but most places pale in comparison to this place. They mold the rice and chow mien to their containers. A La Puente classic! When I was in high school, we used to go to Happy Wok almost weekly. For 6 bucks, there was enough food for two people and everything was always fresh. Now, it's a family favorite and my kids love it! There are coin machines with a large variety of stickers, press on tattoos, and toys. During dinner time a line forms to the door, which means the food keeps cooking and everything is fresh. Yes, the serving size is massive and one plate can feed two people. I usually eat at the Happy Wok on Colima and Fairway. They have the same menus, except for a few dishes with Jalapenos at the La Puente store. I presume that is to please the gods since they are right next to a Northgate Market. Anywho, the menu was the same. But alas the taste was not. The Tangerine chicken was not quite as sweet and tangeriny. The Rice tasted a little burnt and the BBQ pork was...different. Not horrible, just not as good as the Rowland Heights location. read more

This place gives you a ton of food for a very cheap price. I mean a lot of food they give a good amount. The place was crowded and it was 1 p.m. on 2/20. I ordered half fried rice and half chow mein. Both tasted alright. Had the crispy shrimp which were really good. Will come back to get just this. Beef broccoli was alright. 4 stars is for the amount of food you get. There is a down side.... there are a few employees there who do not have good customer service or listening skills. Went in yesterday ordered food...sat down at a table...as we started eating we seen a roach crawling on the wall next to us. When I showed the cook who was sitting behind us he was like "yeah I know" ...when I approached one of the ladies and explained why we were not going to eat our food, she said she understood and quickly refunded our money asked us to leave our food at the table with no questions asked.
