    Dungeness crab - very tasty!
    Tansy W.

Great dim sum place! No carts but the food was still delicious and I appreciated the lazy Susans. Highlights for sure were the chicken feet (some of the best and most plump I have ever had) and the Dungeness crab. The lobster was overcooked and disappointing, but a friend got lobster earlier in the day and loved it so maybe just inconsistent. I also enjoyed the bbq pork buns, which I usually don't like bc I find too sweet. Would definitely return!

We arrived on a Saturday around noon. There was a big festival in the neighborhood that day so we were expecting a crowd. Luckily, it wasn't crowded and we were seated immediately We have had our fair share of dim sum in our life that we know what to order. What was unexpected was the portion size. It is big. We ended up ordering 4 dim sum, a congee and a noodle with 2 Cheng fun. We could not finish them. We packed the noodle home untouched! All the food are tasty. I can tell they don't use MSG from the congee! Price was good too. Compared to CA, their prices are lower. Seattle is a pretty pricey town so it is a very pleasant surprise. We will be back for sure. Two thumbs up.

This place is a gem: Great food, great prices and great portions. 4/5 Honey Walnut shrimp: Nicely balanced flavors of sweet and savory. 4/5 Peking Duck: Crispy Skin and tender meat 4/5 Shumai: Some of the best Shumai I've had in the area, the filling is delicious. 2.5/5 The brisket with rice noodles: Was the only disappointing dish - The brisket was decent, but i didn't love the texture of rice noodles and the sauce lacked flavor. Ambiance is a family style restaurant and the service was decent. Would definitely recommend this spot, great eats at good prices.

Thank you for the wonderful memories! So sad to see you leaving the CID. This was the go to place for my friends and I when we wanted to get dim sum as well as the place I take my out of town friends to. I always loved the rice rolls with youtiao as well as the hargow.

I was looking for a restaurant that could accommodate a big group for dinner without a reservation and thought of Harbor City. In that sense, it did exactly what I needed where walked in with a group of 9 and was seated immediately. This is a great option if you are in that exact situation. Otherwise, my opinion of Harbor City is that it's fine. I appreciate that they do all day dim sum and their ordering system is completely through a QR code, which actually works surprisingly well. In their defense, I was getting quite a few dim sum items at dinner, but we got so many items and most of them left zero impression on me. Not bad, but also not amazing by any means. I think I'd just go to Hong Kong Bistro down the street, but this was okay and not crowded. Quick notes: - Orange Flavored Beef was the best thing here. Think orange chicken but with beef strips that are surprisingly tender. - Roasted Pork was dry, maybe an off day, but definitely overcooked. - Deep Fried Pork Crescents were also solid, fried fresh so they were lightly crisp, chewy, and savory. - Mapo Tofu was weird, not bad, but not what I was expecting. Very very watery and no spice. - Everything else: fried rice, shrimp dumplings, steam pork dumplings, egg tarts that were physically small, basically left no impression.

Food: Food was just average. They add a lot of MSG to the food to make it tasty. The veggies with garlic were good but definitely filled with MSG. The seafood in the Pan Fried Noodles with Seafood was not the freshest. A very fishy taste in the shrimp, squid, and fish. Beef Chow Fun was tasty and well made. Service: Horrible service and staff isn't friendly. Received no service at all because you order via a QR code and app. Ambiance: Restaurant is large and spacious. They have tables for small and large groups. The place is a bit dirty and run down especially if you walk towards the back to the bathroom. Overall, I wouldn't recommend going here. There are better options in Seattle's Chinatown.

I love this place. Every Chinese New Year, I order from Harbor City and I'm never disappointed. We got shrimp fried rice, green beans, shrimp dumplings, shrimp and pork dumplings, vegetarian spring rolls, and Chinese pancakes. It was so so good! I think the fried rice could use a little more flavor, but other than that, we scarfed everything else down. I did a pickup order and it was ready at the time I picked for pick up! I've only ever done takeout, but one of these days I hope to sit down and enjoy a meal here. There is a lot of space and I saw they also serve tea at the beginning of the meal!

Mary and I were in for a first visit. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated. You order over your Mobil device. We had a variety of Dim Sum options, all very tasty.

Located in CID, this has been my family's go to spot for dim sum, lunch and dinner over the years. So depending on the time and day, we will order the following: Dim sum items - my fav being their egg rolls filled with shrimp and cabbage, brisket noodle bowl and char siu sou (BBQ pork puff pastry). Linner - We will usually order 2 of the Salt & Pepper Chicken Wings and it's hit or miss that it comes with a moundful or light coating of fried garlic and minced jalapeno, which goes well on fried rice. Our other favorites are salt & pepper green beans (more fried garlic), honey walnut prawns and any combinations of noodle and rice dishes, including salted fish & chicken fried rice. Arrive early on weekends, as there can be a long wait especially if it's game day. They have QR codes at the table for you to order.

We went on Saturday around 11:20 and we got a table right away. They had a QR code which you use to order. We ordered 6 dim sum items and 2 dishes (1 veggie, 1 noodle dish) between 2 of us and we ended up with lots of left overs to take home. Noodles and veggies are big portions so if I go next time, I'll order less. My favorites out of everything I we ordered were steamed pork dumplings with shrimp and Chinese broccoli with garlic sauce. Other dishes were good too mut not amazing. Xiao long bao was little underwhelming. It was not served with ginger nor vinegar for the soy sauce. Street parking in the area is not very good and expensive.

my girlfriend and I wanted us to go to this Chinese restaurant in the Asian district of Seattle. The food there was impeccable! From the dim sum to the roast duck, to the garlic oysters and the vegetables, everything hit the spot. The waiters also were kind enough to give me forks to pick through all of our dishes The ambience is like any other Chinese place that had quick service and family style service and servings

Family style goodness. I went with a group of 10 and we all left full and so much food leftover. After a full day of exploring the city we were hungry and left more than happy. We enjoyed a array of dim sum and Chinese favorites like fried rice, wonton soup and amazing egg rolls. Definitely a good meal for a big group.

    Egg tart, chun fun

When it comes to Cantonese restaurants, but especially dim sum, you can only have one of two things: really delicious food or really incredible service. You can rarely have both. That is the case here, too. Because the food was great but the service is meh, and that's ok! For three people, we ordered for six, and we weren't too sad about it! Ordered siu mai, hargow, ha chun fun, zialang chun fun, lo bat gou, ke zi, and more. The siu mai was so insane, absolutely the best. This is my favorite place to go for dim sum in Seattle and possibly in the US. No matter the wait time, it's always worth it for me.

Ask the Community - Harbor City Restaurant

    Do they have free parking?

    Street parking only.

What time does this restaurant open? Yelp says 830a, but their website says 9a.

Business Hours: Monday, Wednesday – Sunday: 9am – 11:00pm Tuesday: Closed

Do they have silver noodles like they used to have at Chins Gate?

    Yes.

Do you have set price menu for larger parties 10 ppl.?

Yes. Preset are available. You can make your own menu in advance.

Is dim sum available all day?

Hi Kent, we do serve dim sum all day long.

Is Harbor City (or anywhere in Seattle) currently using push carts for dim sum?

Don't think anywhere is using them yet, but ordering online at your table is better. It all comes out super fresh, no old cold dim sum! 😎

Is dining in an option here yet? Thank you

Yes, dine in is available as of 4/1/22

Does anyone know the tea they give out? If it's herbal or has caffeine?

Usually it's black tea so yes it has caffeine. If you speak Cantonese, you can ask for a different tea.

Is dim sum available for dinner?

Yes! I went recently and dim sum was available. You order via your phone at the table.

Are there dim sum cart or order off the menu?

There is dim sum. They don't have the carts right now, but you can order all the usual dishes from the menu.

    Do they allow service dogs?

Businesses are required to allow service dogs inside. It must be a trained service dog, not an emotional support animal.

    Are you temporarily closed?

They were but re-opened a few weeks ago.

    Are they wheelchair accessible?

The restaurant is. They have the right side that is all on the same floor and a few steps go up the left dining area I believe. But there bathroom is pretty gross and not wheel chair friendly with the proper hand bars, etc.

Is the dim sum available at dinner time?

Yes, they serve dim sum until closing time!

    Do they take reservations?

Your name is put on a list when you arrive after checking in with the hostess.

Do they have all day dim sum on weeknights?

Yes, as.do many restaurants in C/ID Seattle. Dim sum King is #1.

What time is dim sum served until on Saturdays?

The dimsum carts on most days are till ~2pm. The dimsum menu is available all day and night and will be made to order. Few lunch specials like egg custard, baked bao, etc. at at lunch time only.

Does this place have many gluten free options?

Yes. Order all the rice stuff! Banana Leaf wrapped sticky rice, chow fun (flat rice noodle), streamed broccoli, string beans, and pork ribs (might have soy sauce that's not gluten free), fried rice, seafood etc

    Is this place vegan/vegetarian friendly?

they have vegetable dishes available like Chinese ? and garlic free beans but for the most part there's pork and/or seafood in the dim sum. Check out their menu online

Is there a difference between the dim sum served on carts and ordered on the menu? Any difference in price? Is the food reheated when ordered off the menu?

no there isn't. Sometimes it's really early or late and the cart just isn't ready yet. That's all

I had my all time favorite dish at a Hong Kong café cuisine, gon caau ngau ho (乾炒牛河), aka beef chow fun, along with a childhood favorite drink, iced Horlicks. I liked how everything moved at a quick pace here and yet the staff were still friendly. The best part was that no one stopped by to ask how the food was while your mouth was full, because they already knew the food was good. The beef chow fun was just as good as the ones back home. It was savory and full of wok hei (iykyk). The bean sprouts were added at just the right time, so they were still a slightly crunchy. The sliced beef was tender too. If you like adding extra spice, be sure to try the crunchy chili sauce on the table. It was awesome, fragrant, spicy, and full of flavor. Just be careful not to choke on it, I did, and it wasn't fun. I hadn't had Horlicks in twenty years, and the first sip brought back so many memories. Be sure to stir it well and maybe wait until the ice melts a little, otherwise it may be slightly too sweet. My partner is a vegetarian. He looked through the entire menu and said there weren't many things he could order (listen, people, choose your future SO accordingly if you like sharing big meat dishes). He ended up ordering the curry vegetable rice and added a fried egg. He said the curry was delicious. I tried a bite of it and agreed. I think there may have some coconut milk in it because it was rich and creamy. The rice was a little too dry to my liking. Sitting there and listening to the background music from the Hong Kong TV news, I felt like a kid again.

Not sure what they added in, but the flavor of the broth was not my favorite. There's so much good wonton soup in the area! I wish this broth was better and more savory. Beef chow fun: pretty tasty and the beef was pretty tender. There was no work hei, so didn't have that distinct flavor Half chicken bone in: this was surprisingly our favorite dish! Felt like there was less shrimp and walnuts compared to what I'm used to, but I think I also pay closer to $22-25 for the dish (the one here was $20). Minced Pork with Green Bean - now this was a hefty box, lots of green beans tossed with the classic XO sauce and a solid amount of pork. This place is a true gem, serving satisfying, delicious food in a relaxed atmosphere at an affordable price. The restaurant looks small from the front, but space is used efficiently and they manage to fit quite a bit of seating into not that large of a dining room. Tables are mostly four tops, quite spacious at that, and surrounded by sturdy wooden chairs. I came for dinner on a Friday evening and there were a few other tables at any given time. Service was quick and our water never ran empty. We had the wontons in hot oil, topped with peanuts, I had the beef chow fun, and my dinner buddy had the pork with hot sauce noodles. The wontons are very very good, stuffed with flavorful pork and swimming in a sauce that sits in that perfect spot at the intersection of hot and sour. The peanuts and scallions add a delightful crunch. Their beef chow fun satisfies every bit of childhood nostalgia I have for this dish, with lots of wok hei, bouncy noodles, and the most tender of beef. I think my favorite beef chow fun in the city still lives at A+ Hong Kong Kitchen, but this is a close second. The portion here is also huge. I am a human vacuum and I actually brought leftovers home, which is rare for me. The pork with hot sauce noodles is seemingly a fusion of zha jiang mian and dan dan noodles. My friend really enjoyed it and actually finished the whole thing, which is saying something given that she doesn't usually eat that much. There are so many other items on the menu that I'm eager to try, so I will definitely be back.

If we had Mexican, Italian and other ethnic restaurants in the neighborhood, I'd get on board, but not only do San Francisco, New York and L. A. have the biggest Chinatowns, cities also have Barrio's and Little Italy's, so clearly cultures are ok with us specifying. A friend brought up Scallion Beef, so I did a search, Scallion Beef is sometimes called Ginger Beef, so H Bistro came up in my results. Initially, I wondered if H Bistro was Hong Kong Bistro and they rebranded, but HKB is still in business and around the corner and not very good mind you. Reviews for H Bistro are strong and the photo's convinced me that this should be a better than average meal. People talked about the lunch special and since I had a meeting downtown in the afternoon, I thought I could pop in here before my meeting. Once there I was sat. I didn't see lunch on the menu, so I asked and was told, lunch was no longer offered. Again, with no website, I had to rely on Yelp so despite reviews from 2024 talking about lunch, it's not longer offered. I got the Ginger Beef and asked if they did soup by the cup and was also told no. That is why Chinese Lunch is so popular, you typically get soup, rice, entrée and even an appetizer. That is a full meal. I just had my entrée and rice. I asked for chili oil and was brought a very small portion, It had good flavor, but no heat. The entree was good, but without soup and appetizer it just wasn't well rounded. Also, the food would have benefited from being served on a hot iron plate. Not only does it add sear, but it keeps the dish hot. Post meal, I had hoped for a cookie and despite being a block from the fortune cookie factory, no cookie was served. Would I return, sure, with a large group, that would be the only way to truly experience the menu. With 2 people I could have added soup and appetizer as the entrée is also large enough for 2. That said, this was one the cleaner places in Chinatown. That is not to say Chinatown is dirty, but many restaurants need paint, have old furniture or have water stains. This place was fairly nice inside and could be classy with a few more bucks invested. This place really shot itself in the foot by discontinuing lunch, despite being decent, there was just too much disappointment today.
