No doubt Jade Garden is one, if not the best Cantonese restaurant in Seattle. Been a customer of this place for over 20 years and still so good. We've been going here since 2007. It's one of our favorite restaurants in the International District. The food here has always been outstanding. The cuisine is Hongkong style and they prepare the food here in the most authentic way possible. We had our favorite Pork Sweet and Sour Soareribs, Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice and Ginger Scallion half chicken. All tasted delicious. The service here is efficient, not particularly friendly (but that's how it is in any Chinatown restaurants). We've had dimsum here and many different dishes. We can't complain about the food for sure. What we have a problem with is the cleanliness. I went to the men's room and toilet was disgustingly dirty. The floor was sticky. We came to this restaurant early in the morning, around 10:30am, for some dim sum brunch. Even though the whole chinatown was sleeping, this place had several guests dining in. The interior seemed recently renovated, looked nice, but the entrance and some parts of the place was messy. They do not push carts, all dim sum dishes come straight from the kitchen. They had about 40 dim sum items on the menu. Prices were decent for each plate. We were able to scan QR code order the items we wanted. We got the shrimp dumplings, radish cake, shrimp rice roll, beef honey comb, sesame ball and egg tar. All items were brought out to table in short time. All the items had legit taste. My favorite was the beef honey comb (intestine), probably the best tasting one I ever had. The service was fine, as it's usually is in C-town restaurants. It seems that this place may be more popular with non-Chinese crowds for dinner, as looking around, the fried rice portions were huge seemed popular. Not sure if I'd come back. We were here with some friends and glad we went! Overall it was a great experience, staff were friendly and helpful. The best two dishes of the night were noodles and pepper squid. While the rest of the food we had was ok, it was not as flavorful and quite frankly boring compared to the other two we had. If you are in the area, I would recommend it. The wonton noodle soup lacked flavor and just tasted like white pepper. The siu mai and har gao were mushy and sad. The bbq pork bun was probably the most innocent thing. The waiter subtracted the rice rolls from our bill when I pointed out the fly but the total was still very expensive for dim sum of that quality. This was hard. Came here because Jade is known as the oldest Chinese restaurant in Seattle, and I've heard Bruce Lee used to eat here -- which is pretty cool. The service was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the food was just okay, especially for the price. Some dishes were bland and chewy -- not bad, just underwhelming. Things went downhill when my son found a piece of hair in his soup. We tried to brush it off, but a few minutes later we noticed a bug (about penny-sized) on my daughter's hair. That was the breaking point. I also used the men's restroom and it was dirty and unpleasant. Despite everything, my wife still tipped the server 18% because the service itself was good. Had a good time eating here with friends on a Thursday night around 7 pm in Seattle's chinatown! Easy to find parking in chinatown. We were a party of 3 and we were sat immediately since it wasn't at all busy. A lot of older/senior people already dining and enjoying their foods. You order from a qr menu and can order dim sum and/or things off the regular menu, plus they have white board specials. Still about a 30 min wait for 3 at 2 pm on a Sat afternoon!! Came here on a Sunday morning for brunch (around 11am-ish) and to my surprise, there was barely a line and got seated right away. Ordering is easy as it's all online using your phone with picture and price shown. However the only downside is it doesn't allow you to review what you've ordered once it's sent to the kitchen so you really won't be able to check what have you ordered. About 5 minutes we put in our order, the three steam baskets came. Pretty hot and steaming (so i guess they are relatively fresh). The fried items came a little later and my favorite is definitely the fried bean curd roll with shrimp! Savory and sweetness from the shrimp, and the crispy outside. Their chilli sauce is a not my favorite chili sauce/oil. This is less oil but more like a vinegary sauce. I like it better if it's just chili flakes + oil, or as it is but less vinegar but it's a personal preference. We asked the server for bill and to-go boxes and they never brought us the bill. Asked another server and they told us to pay at the front. We went to the front, waited a little before someone came to ask if we wanted to pay and they asked us for our table's order sheet (seems none of them know what's the payment system here??). While that is completely fine, the tone felt a bit dismissive and could have been more welcoming. We also felt uncomfortable with a comment made by the owner's son during his apology, where he used inappropriate language while speaking about the situation.
