My friends and I stopped in here on a Wednesday at around noon, and our party of six was seated promptly upon arrival. The interior of the dining room looks like any sort of traditional Chinese dim-sum restaurant, and the atmosphere was nice and buzzy without being too loud. We could tell the place was legit from the plethora of Asian diners (ranging from young to old), as well as the To-Go Counter that served traditional Chinese roast meats (such as duck and pork). Similar to many modernizing Chinese restaurants, you scan a QR Code that leads to the restaurant's online menu, and then order through that platform. We ordered many different dishes, so I've listed each dish that I tried below: 5 STARS (AMAZING) SHRIMP DUMPLINGS (HAR GOW, $5.75 for 4): These were nice, plump, and juicy, with a flavorful shrimp filling (with high quality), and a great rice-wrapper-to-filling ratio. For 4 for $5.75, these were a great deal, and some of the best in Seattle - great with chili oil! STEAMED B.B.Q. PORK BUNS (CHAR SIU BAO, $5.25 for 3): Oh my goodness, these were soft, pillowy, and delicious, with a perfectly-textured bun portion, and a succulent, sweet-and-savory pork filling. They're the perfect size to only have one and be satisfied (though some of my friends had multiple! 4 STARS (GOOD) STEAM PORK DUMPLINGS (SIU MAI, $5.75 for 4): These were nicely sized, with a well-cooked wrapper and generous amount of meat filling inside, but I've definitely had better in the Seattle area - better with chili oil, though! SESAME BALLS W/ LOTUS SEED FILLING ($5.25 for 3): These taste like any classic sesame balls at a Chinese dim-sum restaurant, except it's a sweet lotus seed filling instead of red bean. The mochi part of the rice ball is chewy and glutinous (and not too sweet), though it was a bit too dense for me. The filling also isn't too sweet, but I prefer red bean. ROAST PORK/DUCK ($17.95, under "Mix of Any Two Choices of Roasted Meat"): You can see the roasted duck in the restaurant's window, and both meats that we received were pretty legit - the duck was nice and crispy when eaten with the skin, and the meat was juicy and tender. The roast pork (seemed like pork belly?) was similarly succulent, with very crispy edges. I will say that you do have to eat the pork as a whole piece, otherwise the fatty inside is bland, and the crispy outside is very salty. The meat plate was pretty generously portioned for the price (all five of us in my party that eat meat got a good amount), though the duck was mostly bones. CHINESE BROCCOLI WITH OYSTER SAUCE ($10.95): This came with a good amount of al-dente Chinese broccoli (which is just how I like it cooked). We were scared that it would be over-seasoned, but it was a good balance of the sweet saltiness of the oyster sauce and the natural bitterness of the Chinese broccoli. 3 STARS (OKAY) PORK VEGETABLE BUNS ($5.75 for 3): These kind of fell flat for me - the outside bun looked crispy, but was kind of soggy, and the pork in the middle was reminiscent of a cheap meatball - I'd skip these and get the steamed pork buns instead! SEAFOOD FRIED RICE ($15.95): This wasn't bad fried rice by any means, but for the price, I would say to venture out and try other foods! This just tasted like any other Chinese restaurant's fried rice to me, and it didn't come with that much seafood (just a mound of bland-ish, oily rice). If you're looking for a casual but solid place to eat with friends, harbor city is a great option. The dim sum is offered all day and is very good and cheaper than other places around. I came at about 8pm on a Friday and it was definitely busy but there wasn't a wait. Once you're seated, the waiter gives you tea (complimentary) which is nice because other dim sum locations i've gone to charges for it. Each dim sum plate was around $5-6 and the portions were pretty generous. I've tried their beef chow fun before and it's pretty good, but definitely lacked a decent amount of flavor. One thing to note here is that it's definitely not a quick service restaurant. We waited about 30-40 minutes to get our dishes and we only got 3 dim sum plates. I really don't get what is so great about this place, maybe because it's one of the few Dimsum places in the Seattle area and this is like the best they got? The food here is just okay. The cheng fun filling isn't the best, kinda skimpy on the filling. The shiu mai is standard but it doesn't have roe like some higher end places do. The bean curd deep fried, as you can tell from the picture is a bit too crispy, some might even say it's burnt. The service is here non-existent and food takes a really really long time to come out. In fact, one of my dishes never came and I ended up just canceling it. I had to go up to the front and cancel my order. There really isn't anyone walking around checking your tea or helping you get anything. The only time you'll see a server is when they bring out food for another table and you pray they look into your direction when you're waving at them. This Dimsum place uses a digital menu and you place the order of the food that you want on the menu. The place serves Dimsum all day but you want to be careful as some dishes are time sensitive like if I can recall, some dishes were stopped at 2 or 3 PM. Pricing of this place is like a top tier Dimsum restaurant at like almost 6-7 dollars per dish. Definitely not the 6-7 dollar price worthy of quality though. Parking for this place is pretty difficult. I recommend an Uber or a Lyft because the street is always filled with cars. You don't want to park at the Grocery store near by because after 2 hours the parking cost is pretty expensive. There are some street parking lots but they are a bit sketchy and like hidden. Best dim sum in Seattle! They have a great variety of dishes at an affordable price. It's always super busy so expect to wait a little while, but it's definitely worth it. Also, if you go in the morning, you can get the freshly baked pastries like the BBQ pork pastries and custard pineapple buns which are super good. I definitely recommend the custard filled pineapple buns (which I think they called baked buns with egg paste). It's basically a soft fluffy bun with a crispy sweet cookie top filled with a creamy egg custard. The combination of soft, crispy, and creamy is so nice and the sweetness is perfect. I came early in the morning when they were freshly baked and it was amazing. I usually don't like pineapple buns but I loved this one. I also recommend trying the unique seafood dumplings which I haven't seen in other dim sum restaurants: the crab shrimp imitation shark fin dumpling, the scallop dumplings with pea vines, and the shrimp dumplings with duck meat. Chinatown has so many dim sum spots it's hard to pick one. Harbor City is a safe bet. My main complaint is that the siu mai does not have shrimp or roe and if it does, it's very minimal. It's mostly a pork dumpling here as opposed to the shrimp and roe typically. However, I think they might have shrimp siu mai? I do see it in other images so I'd have to take a peek at the menu again. Har gow/xia jiao were my favorite here. They're near the top for me in general for dim sum, but they were fairly large pieces and the shrimp was just really good, not sure what made it stand out but I knew it was above average from my first bite. Steam Beaned Curd Roll were thick and full, larger than most others. You get three with an order though instead of four, but they are larger. This was a really fun trip to Chinatown for my Mother and I. First off the food was perfect! Exactly what I wanted in some good ole traditional Dim Sum. The ambiance was quaint and pretty cute, but nothing special compared to the eats. This was the first time dining in for dim sum in person and my second time at Harbor City. We had to put our name on the list and wait a little while to be seated (it was around 11am on a weekday). The hostess then sat us at a large round table, just for the two of us. We ordered baked hom bows (BBQ pork buns), footballs (deep fried mochi cake with ground pork filling), shrimp dumplings, turnip cake, and garlic pea vine. Our favorite dish was the pea vine because of how tender and fresh it was. Our second favorite was the turnip cake because it was perfectly browned and had a crispy outside and soft inside. The baked hom bows were okay, but they were missing hoisin sauce flavor. The shrimp and shrimp and chive dumplings were also alright; however, they were served lukewarm which wasn't that great. The football dumplings were decent, just not our favorite of the dishes we ordered. The waitress was very friendly and attentive and was quick to serve us and get us takeout boxes. I had to cancel our order after accidentally entering their employees' restroom. The restroom was comically disgusting, with feces all over the open toilet lid and seat. It looked like someone had explosive diarrhea, and it hadn't been cleaned for a long time. Imagine your cook, chef, and servers handling your food after using this toilet and not washing their hands.
