You can't beat seafood by the beach! This place was pretty good. When I was ordering, the staff were very nice and served me with a smile. I got the sampler which came with one piece of this super long fish, 2 jumbo shrimp, chips, coleslaw and clam chowder. The fish was nice and crispy and juicy, but could've used more flavor. The 2 jumbo shrimp were big and juicy. The tartar sauce was also great and paired well with the fish and shrimp. The coleslaw was nice and fresh. Finally, the clam chowder was great and had a generous amount of potato and clam, but also could've used more flavoring. The meal was very filling and I couldn't finish it all. This is the second time that my friend I have dined here. Obviously, the fish is fresh, and they cook it in avocado oil, which is healthier I guess. The fish are fillets, not patties, which is good. The food is tasty and better than most places. I was tempted to get the two-piece plate because I was hungry, but decided to go with the single-piece plate since it would be good for me to lose a pound or two. The one-piece plate was certainly enough for me. I was satiated at the end of the meal. I did not catch the lady's name who took our orders, but she was animated and friendly. She acted like she knew us and was happy that we finally showed up. That was nice. The ambiance was what you would expect for a place right on the harbor. It is a great place to eat some delicious seafood. My friend and I, by luck, found this Harbor Fish & Chips in Oceanside. It was busy on a Saturday afternoon.. It's a good thing we call ahead to place an order to go. The food was done in 20 minutes, and we could get all the tarter, cocktail, and ketchup sauces. I didn't see any malt vinegar that would have been nice. The cod fish was about 8 in long and perfectly fried. It was crispy on the outside and moist and delicious. The fried shrimp seasoned good and delicious. The fries were plentiful and hot. They taste best when eaten right away. I will definitely try this place again. I give 4 stars out of 5 stars. Don't know how I missed leaving a review earlier, but this place is great. Was visiting my daughter and her family in Carlsbad and we here for lunch on day. I love Fish and Chips particularly served with Malt Vinegar. Problem is that is too many instances, the fish is over cooked and not even flaky. Not the case her. When I come home to visit this is a MUST stop for me. It was a couple of weeks and I was getting really antsy. I had fish and chips in two other places and it was terrible. Finally I said that's it. I have to go get my fish. I also got zucchini. I wanted to split a meal with my friend but she wasn't having it. She loves this place too. The two piece basket of fish was a beautiful white fish ($14.75). The zucchini ($7) was soft with a nice crispy crunch. The coleslaw was nice and creamy. Our server was a sweet young man and brought our food to us. I was so happy. Thanks for always having good food, service and even the price is reasonable for all the food one gets. The fried Fish was so incredibly greasy there was a pile of grease on our plates and the grease made our fries soggy. I had to use a napkin to wipe down the fish. We went thru even more napkins getting the grease off our hands. Bummer because we were looking fwd to dining here and enjoying the view. The fish & chips here are really good and they're huge! Granted, a lot of is breading but the flavor is on-point and what I was looking for. This is a cute place right on the harbor so the views are stunning. There's plenty of seating inside and out and they offer beer. What's not to like? Well there is one thing... Prices are a bit high and when ordering they do the screen flip thing where it asks you to select a 20% tip (or other percentages). Don't love having to be guilted into tipping when you have to order your own food and pick it up yourself. What a pleasant surprise! I was driving by and needed a quick lunch. This place along the water in Oceanside is a gem! I luckily found free parking in the lot. There are paid spots too. You order at the counter. The service was friendly and fast. They call your number and you pick up your food at the counter. The Tabasco on the table gave it a nice kick. There were two pieces of fish which were crispy, hot, and delicious. The malt vinegar on the table gave it a tangy kick. The two pieces of shrimp were crunchy and big. The fries were good, yet could've been a bit crispier. The coleslaw was flavorful, yet I'm not a huge fan of coleslaw in general. It was still good and I had a few bites. The ambiance is casual and there were plenty of clean tables to choose from either inside or the nice patio out front in front of the water. I have been coming here my whole life!! Such a relaxing scenery to watch while eating in a casual environment. Always a bargain, we order 3 piece with fries and share it ($20.99)!! We also order extra crispy.for fries and fish, even better!! The fish is fresh and a large piece and the fries are big and fresh potatoes!! YUM!! The only con is that I do really like their tartar sauce but it is always in a container with ice packs around them and they are never cold. I always worry about how long they've been out etc. If I could make a suggestion is to change out hourly and have someone be in charge of checking it more often! Thank you!! My husband just got home after a run at the harbor and having fish and chips there. He's so funny, he said that he didn't plan on having fish and chips for lunch, but "it smelled so good" he couldn't resist. He's been eating there as long as they've been open, he thinks about 50 years! He always gets the same thing; two piece fish. He really likes the fact that he can get as much extra tarter sauce as he wants without getting charged an extra fifty cents apiece. He said the "surfer looking kid" who took his order could see that he had just finished a run and gave him a cup so he could get a cup of ice water. We biked to this place via the San Luis Rey Bike Trail, and it was great to find a table park our bikes and have a meal in the sun. That's pretty much the good part of it. When I started to place my order with the establishments cashier she already seemed like in a bad mood. The fish and chips were very greasy with light breading and hardly any flounder in it. The beans watery however the cole slaw was light, plain but refreshingly fresh!!! If you don't have cash they charge you 4% on top of the cost??? I was shy of 1 dollar and yet sour puss didn't care. Well anyway I would not recommend it since I paid $70 for 3 orders and 3 drinks.
