The old woman at the hostess stand refused to give me a name at first then she pointed at another older woman that was rude about the time and said "her name is Paula, she's the owner". This was one of my favorite places for breakfast till today! They broke my heart on 4th of July when I ordered the special that sounded pretty good if they delivered all the ingredients at once, we asked for napkins, never got them. We have eaten here a few times and we always have the same issue you have to hunt down someone to actually take your order. The food is good and reasonably priced considering portion size. we were there about two weeks ago and Covid precautions are not being followed at all. The waitress wears her mask below her nose, the line to get in to be seated or give an order is right through the middle of the outside eating area, they are not enforcing wearing a mask while you're standing in that line. Also not sure how they could work this out but while the servers carry your open plate of food out to you they are walking by all those people in line not wearing masks. The food is delicious, the service is amazing and the overall feel is homey and comfortable, like you are one of the family. They allow you the choice of wearing or not wearing a mask. So disappointed. We waited nearly an hour to get our food and finally had to leave with out any lunch due to work schedule. As we were leaving we saw that the food, that had been sitting under the server window for quite a while, was actually our order which had just been getting colder and colder. We had to leave without getting our lunch. My boyfriend, my son and I were on vacation in Oceanside. The day we were leaving we wanted to get a quick bite to eat before we hit the road. I did have a bad gut feeling that made me re consider if we should leave just because this place had a grungy feel and didn't seem like a clean place (a feeling I rarely ever get) but I thought maybe I was over reacting and we wanted to make good time getting back home so I didn't say anything to my family. I had the chicken strips, my boyfriend had the burger and my son had the French toast. We had an air B and B so we prepared much of our own food and had not gone out to eat for a few days before that. My son did not get sick as he had the French toast. But my boyfriend and I both have gotten violent, miserable cases of food poisoning as we both ate meat. I felt funny my first day back in Az. The next day at work I threw up that night right after eating but didn't think much of it. The next night I felt like throwing up at work and right when I got home I threw up and had diarrhea and misery all night and could not sleep because I was throwing up every 10-15 mins. It was absolute misery. My boyfriend didn't sleep all night either as he was also throwing up all night. Yesterday was also pure misery and I had to miss work as did my boyfriend. I am still struggling today. The first night of food poisoning was one of the worst nights of my life. I do not believe this restaurant practices safe food handling practices. It's not worth it to go here. Never again will I be able to bring myself to eat at a breakfast spot that does not look and feel clean. I am scarred for life now. The food didn't taste very good either. It tasted like something you would grab from your freezer and heat up in the microwave. My mom and I ordered simple things, a burger and an eggs & bacon plate but after about a half hour of no waitress checking in or letting us know the status of our food, we asked where the food was they said it was on the way so we waited another 10 minutes or so and then decided to just leave. Our waitress had the hiccups when she was taking our order, so it was pretty entertaining when she would ask the usual questions such as, "What kind of toast", "How would you like your eggs", etc. We could have easily made her job easier by answering the questions before she asked, but I'm not sure why we didn't. I am a big fan of the Salads, which come as a generous serving of fresh produce and meats sourced from the market right next door. On April 18, 2022 myself, and two others ate here around 12pm, ordering a hamburger, chicken fingers, and French toast. 2 days later the two of use who ordered meat came down with extreme food poisoning. I've had food poisoning before, this version came with muscle aches comparable to what I've heard trichinosis feels like. Unbearable muscle pain on top of usual food poisoning symptoms. We tried this place on a Sunday for lunch. Arrived at 1:00, took an open table and waited, and waited, and waited. The decor was, Oh lets say special. Just as we were getting ready to walk, Doofus guy walks up and asks me if he can swap our jellies. I said only if he would bring us some menus and glasses of water. He tells me he never noticed were were here since he did not seat us. I explained that we did not notice anything that would indicate that we should wait to be seated since no one was there to great us at the door. The dude keeps giving me lip! We watched him walk to the front where it was obvious he entered into full on gossip about us with the other waitresses. Lots of "stink eye" looks in our direction. I use to go to the harbor house fairly often but truthfully I hadn'tg been in at lest a year. I had heard they had done some updating and had gotta their beer and wine license. So I was excited to go back and see all the changes for myself. They have a great new outdoor seating area. We got there just about 11am on a Sunday, they were busy but got us seated quickly. We had 5 adults and two little ones, so a fairly large group. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the egg burrito with bacon, it was huge and wonderful. So big I couldn't finish it all. My husband had the Mexican scramble which he thought was good. My mom had anthony's choice, one of their omelettes, she couldn't believe how much meat was in it! My uncle had the chicken fried steak and he loved every bite. My dad had the hash, he was surprised by portion size. Everything was huge portions but this meal was surprising small in comparison but still good. My daughter had the kids French toast and as someone who doesn't care much for French toast it was delicious. And the best part the fruit bowl was actually more then just melons, it was so good!!
