Prior reviews confirmed today. I went in for an hour massage $45 and ask to add tip since I'm paying with credit. Was told $2 fee and when I told her add $10 she argued that is cheap, I responded that's already over 20% I just want a massage. She then suggested $20 and that didn't sit well with me. She proceeded to tell total ids $70. Whoa $45 for the hour 2 for credit card fee and $20 totals $67. This place is absolutely horrible service. I came here for a full body massage that's cost $45 for an hour and asked to mainly focus on my shoulders as I was having pain in my shoulders. My experience here wasn't worth the 30$. I'd rather sit at reflexology and get the routine foot/body massage. My young masseuse started with my buttocks and lumbar region without massaging but SIMPLY RUBBING lotion and slight pressure . I came back from a snowboarding trip and really needed a good deep massage rub. I directed her to rub my shoulders and arms after I was over getting my butt massaged. There were so many knots all over my body, but she did a good job in my shoulders. Other than that all massage places depend on your masseuse. I visited Harbor spa for a massage. My therapist was Sofia. I liked the spa. Everything is clean and the place smells good. The rooms are fairly large and.comfortable. But the best part was the massage. Sofia gave me the best massage of my life. She truly understands how to use pressure on the body and she works efficiently for a full hour. It's a decent place for a full body massage with a great price. I have been here a few times and they do a good job. The price is great and I have tipped $10 each time with no comments from the spa. Yes, pay up front as others have stated. I have had Michelle provide the massage and I have liked her massage each time. Never coming here again. My boyfriend and I went tonight. I ordered the full body massage and he ordered the combo. We were asked to wait a few minutes which was fine and then we were asked to pay up front. I thought this weird but since they were closing soon I thought maybe they had to close the machines or something. My therapist was friendly but the massage was mediocre. She and another lady were talking in another language while she was massaging me, which I found rude. After the massage, we were walking out and my therapist stopped us in the hall and said "umm.. hello..?? Can you pay me tips? I just have you a massage and you haven't paid me tips" ok so i ask my bf for cash and he said he already gave them $10 tip, which I thought was plenty, but we gave her $7 more and she said it was $10 mandatory per person. I told her thats all we had and she laughed rudely and walked away. I understand she performed a service and probably works on tips, however, tips should never be demanded, nor should there be a minimum amount. I always tip when I get massages but I do not feel a 30% tip is justified, especially when the service wasn't spectacular. Whoever manages this place needs to reevaluate how he runs business because rudely demanding tips is not the way to keep customers. read more

She removed my underwear. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, but that was not what happened. Harbor Spa is actually a legit veggie massage parlor. All the masseuse are licensed therapists and over 40 years old. Their certificates are proudly hung on the wall of the reception area. There are only two services offered at Harbor Spa - foot massage in the common room ($20/hr) or body massage in a private room ($30/hr). Pay up front. I'm sure you are curious as to why the masseuse removed my undergarment. Just between us girls, it was to expose my buttock. She wanted access to an area where she would spend a lot of time massaging (this was all done facing down). In fact, she spent about 20 minutes applying stress and strokes to the gluteal and lumbar muscles. These were areas that I felt chronic tension, due to the accumulation of sitting the majority of the day at work, and exacerbated from sitting at a super non-ergonomic chair at 7 Leaves Cafe earlier in the day. The butt massage helped alleviate the tightness in my gluteal muscles. I have never encountered a masseuse who would spend time on this treatment. Outside of the spectacular butt massage, the remainder of the routine was standard and highly mechanical. 10 minutes on the shoulder and neck. 20 minutes on chest, arms, scalp, legs. I wish massage spas would ditch the scalp and chest massage all together because it is not therapeutic at all. Not beneficial, not desirable, a complete waste of time. It would be more productive for these filler routines to be replaced with more strokes to the neck and shoulder, where many people experience tension and pain. In terms of pressure, I had asked for a strong, firm, hard massage, but my masseuse was only able to apply a "medium" pressure. When she did attempt to give hard pressure, it was done over a towel. Regions of my shoulder and between my T3 and T7 remained a bit tight after the massage and could have used some more deep compression for muscle relaxation. My back does feel more relaxed after the massage, but compared to the results from some massages I had in San Gabriel, the difference I felt today was not as apparent. My rating of Harbor Spa is somewhere between "average" and "good". I would only consider returning if there is a masseuse that can actually give a hard massage and if the massage does not terminate short of the full hour (today, it ended after 50 minutes). read more

Definitely didn't get a full hour massage when you count all the stopping. They may have even switched masseuses on me in the middle of the massage... I couldn't tell. Nice place. Could be a little cleaner but it's ok. Very good 1 hour massage for $30 bucks. Rooms have heavy drapes. You go inside the room, strip naked with nothing on and lay on the massage table face up or face down. Girl comes in and starts giving you a massage after some small talk. Not a lot of talking as there is a language barrier. Good massage on my back, legs & thighs. I came to this place with my parents & my brother b/c it was close to our house and we thought "let's try it out". I went in there and I read the rules they had in each room and it clearly said "no tip required but appreciated". I'll get back to that later. Anyways, when I got there my massage was pretty good but it only lasted 40 mins when I supposedly paid for an hour. However my dad wasn't happy about his massage b/c he said the lady kept answering her phone and leaving him alone, & my mom said that her lady was rushing the whole thing. So then at the end of it all, I was going to leave a $5 tip, and when I gave her the tip the lady said "you HAVE to give me $10" and I was confused b/c of the rules posted. I'm not one to make a scene so I was like "okay whatever" and I gave her $10. Then my brother only had money to give a $3 tip and the lady that massaged my brother told me "he only gave me $3 and he's supposed to give me $10". And that's when I drew the line and said "no I'm not supposed to leave a tip if we don't have to, I clearly read the rules and I don't have more money to leave more". My dad left nothing and my mom left $5 and we ran out before that lady came also asking for more. The reason I'm upset with this place is because WHY WOULD THEY HAVE THE RULE PRINTED IN EVERY ROOM OF NOT HAVING TO LEAVING A TIP IF ALL THE LADYS ARE GOING TO ASK FOR A $10 TIP. My girl friend and I had 90 minutes massage, and the room and place smell not good ( some fish smell or onion..) and their bed sheet is a little dark (dirty), and my massager picked up her phone for four times, and talk aloud outside. Kenny and Tracy have been our therapists for more than 4 years. Now they are @ Harbor Spa. We like that we can get our massages together in the couples room. I like that everything is clean, clean, clean. Both my husband and I are picky about our massages. We love that we can make an appt. on the same day and get a great massage. Parking can be a challenge so leave extra time to find parking. Ladies, if you are hesitant to have a guy give you a massage, don't be. Kenny isn't like some of those creepy guys. He is very professional. He makes sure that you are always covered and his hands never "accidentally" stray where they shouldn't. He just gives a great strong massage. I went to Harbor Spa today for the first time and had Kenny as my masseur. I arrived a few minutes early, and they put me in my room, small nicely appointed room, especially for a place that charges $30/hour. Kenny arrived on time - very nice man, and a good massage. The only negative was that they were not that busy (on a wed afternoon of course) and all the other ladies were chatting in the other room and the music was a bit low so all you heard was the talking - until Kenny went out and asked them to move.
