When we got there, we were told of shortages they had on food and menu items. This was in the middle of a weekday which I didn't understand. A small group of us from the Friends of St Patrick went over after the St Patrick's Day Parade to have lunch. There weren't many patrons in the establishment so we joined some folks who had arrived before us. We checked the both menus (one was specifically for St Patrick's Day's). Their prices were higher than I expected for lunch and I had a hard time finding something without meat. I asked our server if they could make a Cobb Salad without Steak and she said they would. The family with us had tons of nachos, which looked pretty substantial, so I was looking forward to my salad. My friend's meal consisted of 3 Sliders and fries and my Cobb Salad was a big disappointment. I asked that there not be any steak, which they did, but there was no avocado or something to make up for the lack of protein. Lots of lettuce, sautéed corn, hard boiled egg, sweet baby tomatoes and cheddar cheese, and sautéed onions, with dressing on the side (as I requested). It was tasty, but seriously lacked substance. I was still charged $26.99, even without the meat! Perhaps I should bave asked for a substitution or chosen something else. My bad. Iced coffee (no refills) was a little over $4.00 a glass. Service was a little slow, despite the restaurant being one quarter full. We were sat at our table pretty quickly but then forgotten.. I counted 11 employees that were standing around that could have helped us, but didn't. Ambiance is like whatever at this point; I don't even care. Just bring me a beer already. The food wasn't bad. The flavor of everything was pretty good. My onion rings were over-cooked, my burger was super tiny but looked like 2 1/4 lb patties in the picture, but wasn't (more like a $20 McDouble) :(. This is nice because side you get the fresh breeze and you can people watch if you're lucky to sit there. They have a stage where live bands can play and it gives that vibe of energy and flow. I decided to give this place another try since they were open late and it was right on the shopping strip. We arrived and the host had told us that it was going to be about a 45-1hr wait. I ordered the legendary burger which was a cheese burger with an onion ring inside. It was able to satisfy my burger craving but it was extremely messy and greasy to eat. Went to Hard Rock without reservations for dinner. Place is big. No band playing when we went. Hostess was cold and not welcoming so I almost turned around. Once we were seated, it got better. The restaurant is centrally located and walking distance from most hotels in the vicinity of Kuhio Ave and Kalakaua Ave. To access the restaurant, check in at their store and then go to the second floor. On the way up, look up to see the cool guitars display on the ceiling. I love how AC is not typical in Hawaii, and all places have open-air concepts. We sat on the veranda, enjoying the night breeze overlooking the city. We started off our dinner with a passion fruit mai tai. Excellent choice. Then as an appetizer, we ordered the nachos. They were tasty, and the tortillas were crispy. Oh and I loved the pickled onions! We were in the mood for chicken for our main course, so we ordered the fried chicken sandwich and the buffalo chicken sandwich. I am a huge fan of buffalo sauce, and this one didn't disappoint. The meals came with fries too. Overall, my experience was great. Our server was attentive and friendly, gave recommendations, and constantly checked on us. A rockin blast from the past meal, with some views. I took my wife and one and a half year-old here on recent trip to Hawaii. We were looking for a place with solid American food, really just wanted a burger, and this place hit the spot. Like all hard rocks, this place was adorned with merch from all of your favorite classic rock bands. As you climb the stairs to the second level, and our greeted by the arch of guitars on the ceiling, you also see they have a beautiful patio area. The area is so open and airy, with a bunch of shade to beat the sun, and nice of use while you're dining. They had TVs at the bar, playing the football games which was nice, but also music videos played on the additional patio TVs. The service was amazing. Never easy having a child at the table, but they were so accommodating and nice even when she was fussy. I got a barbecue burger, my wife got a salad, and my daughter got the mac & cheese kids plate.
