This ended up being my last coffee spot, but my favorite one! It was such a hidden gem. There was a line out the door for a reason! When i finally made it to the front of the line, the service was very nice. She recommended either a caramel or vanilla iced latte. I ended up going with the caramel iced latte. The espresso is super smooth, the latte was cold. it was great. The decor in there is also so cute, i love the greenery. There are many seats inside as well as a small selection outside. If i ever return to charleston, this will be my first stop....

So cute, my bowl was great!!!Coffee was amazing but the Tea cookie the Barista recommended was to die for. Love the ambience, just needed a little more space inside because it was raining outside.

Awesome little bakery with coffee and savory bites. I got the breakfast sandwich delicious biscuit, eggs were wonderfully seasoned with an Herby taste. We also got the German chocolate roll, which is really good and I'm not a huge fan of coconut, but I still liked it a lot. The coffees were great. My only complaint was my wife's pimento bacon biscuit wasn't exactly what we were expecting. Being in the south when you see a pimento bacon biscuit you're expecting a biscuit sandwich with bacon and pimento cheese. What was given was just allright. The biscuit was a little dry and not what we expected, there was a laughable amount of pepper jelly, enough for a mouse. Everything else was really good and I would love to go back.

we got the biscuit & egg breakfast sandwich. it was hard to find seating as it is small and a "seat yourself" place but we did eventually find a seat. Anyways, we both were not fans of the biscuit and the egg was a bit tasteless. I wish we had a better experience as it sounded good on the menu. The black coffee was decent

Very cute and cozy cafe. They had lots of seating inside and a cute patio as well. I ordered the iced caramel latte. It was really good! It had a strong espresso flavor and wasn't too sweet.

One thing to note: this is the least stroller friendly spot I've ever been to. Food and coffee is amazing, but do NOT try to bring a stroller - the patio even has signs everywhere warning you.

The cutest quaint breakfast spot - everyone else knows it too because it was already sold out of a lot of items by 10:30/11am on a Friday We ordered: - sweet potato loaf: with berry and cream cheese whipped topping, it was rich! - Fig and Brie biscuit: the Brie and fig jam are baked into the biscuit layers for a "treasure hunting experience" - Pimento and bacon biscuit: Sharp cheese, savory bacon, and a light kick of pepper jelly is a wonderfully unique savory combination complemented by the biscuit flaky layers. It was a bit dry so I wished the cafe offered oats of butter - Cardamom latte: this was just a cinnamon latte Logistics: - indoor and outdoor seating - Limited street parking nearby - Expect a wait for a table at peak times and for bakery items to sell out fast

Harken Cafe was highly recommended and absolutely lived up to the hype! The cafe has the cutest hippie vibes and the staff is super warm and welcoming. Heads up--it gets PACKED on weekends and sometimes even runs out of goodies, so come early. We tried the German chocolate bun and OMG--it was insane. Perfectly buttery, toasted almonds, and rich dark chocolate--it might be the best pastry I've ever had. The Butter Me Up breakfast sandwich was huge and so shareable, packed with bacon, avocado, and egg on a crumbly, buttery biscuit--pure breakfast heaven. To drink, the turmeric chai latte was hot, comforting, and refreshing all at once. Honestly, if you're in Charleston and love cozy spots with epic pastries and breakfast, Harken Cafe is a must!

Great latte + great food I arrived around noon and they were sold out of the biscuit sandwich I wanted, which lets you know how delicious their food is. You order as soon as you come. If dining it, find a seat, place your table top # down and they'll bring your food. Listen for your name to pick up your coffee. Grab your own water from the counter, they don't bring it. The quiche was amazing and loaded with veggies, even corn, and I believe it had ricotta in it too. The flavor was amazing and I loved the crunchy top. Im glad I got it!

Such a cute coffee shop! Came after our bartender last night recommended it as his fave coffee spot in Charleston. Had the Brie and jam biscuit and it was amazing. The iced caramel latte was also delicious!

Stopped here for coffee on my last day in Charleston. Not only do they have amazing drinks and pastries, but they also have delightful gifts for sale! Adorable seating area inside and out. Absolutely loved my maple latte!

Discovered this sweet little bakery while out in a walk. The food is delicious, the service is quick and the inside is cute as can be. I highly recommend this bakery

What an amazing experience I had hear. Such a cozy coffee shop with a delicious latte in one of the coolest mug I've ever used at a coffee shop. The baristas were sweet. I ordered an Oat Milk Caramel Pumpkin Latte and it was very delicious. Would definitely revisit this cute shop for another coffee and maybe a pastry next time.

Ask the Community - Harken Cafe

Is there parking at the storefront or do you need to pay for a city garage?

As a native, born and raised here, parking is dicey to say the least!! We have the easiest walking city in America so just park in a garage or a metered space and walk…

Do they still offer donuts here, or just at The Harbinger?

I don't recall any donuts at this café but as I said in my review everything they made was spectacular.

Do u recommend reservations for brunch time?

Not necessary at all. They may not even take them.

We came for breakfast and started with the banana bread with Nutella cream cheese -- absolutely incredible. We also split the cornmeal pancakes, which were so good we came back the next morning just to have them again. I ordered the B.E.C. with the home fries, and I can honestly say they may have been the best potatoes I've ever had in any form. Perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and they practically melted in my mouth. My husband had the turkey club and said it was fantastic as well. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and memorable. We loved it so much we went back the very next day. 10/10 -- highly recommend if you're visiting Charleston!

He also had a meal removed from the bill - it was brought out Luke warm unfortunately. Overall food was good everyone was happy with their choices. Burger didn't come with fries but was big enough to fill up an 18 year old boy. Salad had a great sauce, was a little thrown off with the cold waffle but it's supposed to come like that server said. The avocado toast was so good but eggs were cold unfortunately. It didn't ruin the taste so still recommend. Visited on vacation but I would go back and try other plates.

One of the oldest in Charleston and super cute from the outside in. I also love that they named the place after their loyal pupper dog. For my taste, Poogan's makes one of the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. They also have phenomenal she crab soup, pimento cheese fritters with bacon jam, and collards. It was Labor Day and things seemed on the quiet side in town. The ambience was great and we were on the second floor. We got right to the libations (he had a Malbec and I, the cider they had available). And then the entrees - hubby got the shrimp and grits, that's usually my dish but I was glad he got it so I could taste. I got the fried chicken, with hoppin John over white rice, and collards. So good! And I wasn't even hungry but I had to test the "award winning" and "famous" labels on our dishes. The chicken is a huge serving - 4 pieces of juicy, tasty chicken - an entire quarter. The hoppin John was good - I just wish there were more hoppin John and less rice. Service was 5 star. Donte was a real treat and looked after us well. For dessert, I was hoping for bread pudding, but it wasn't on the menu, and everyone in the dining room was ordering the banana pudding so we got that to share. It is a large serving, enough for two. The presentation was cute, the taste was regular, and I didn't taste a hint of alcohol (it was a bourbon or some other alcohol).
