Not sure why you would come here other than it's cheap and convenient. I mean the place is really run down and not exactly the cleanest place in the world. I took the food home to eat since I made some congee at home, and the food does tend to get soggy, so I understand there is some variability there. The chow mein had no flavor at all. I thought Harlam's Kitchen was long gone but found out they relocated inside the GW Supermarket food court. Of course, I had to try them out again and reminisce about how good their 'jaleung' is. I ordered a Wonton Noodle Soup, Rice Noodle Rolls, Congee with Fish Fillet, and Chinese Donut with Rice Sheet Roll. My ultimate comfort food bundle! Everything tasted great, and I was surprised it all came out of that tiny food court kitchen. The only thing missing was more sauce on the rice noodle rolls, like sriracha, peanut sauce, and hoisin sauce. The food court is dingy and vacant, but don't let that fool you. Back in the day their soy sauce chow mein was actually good, with a lot of wok hei, and supposedly they had changed owners a while back so it's not the same anymore but let's give it a try again. I love their wonton noodle soup. It's flavor resembled the one I ate from my childhood in Vietnam. I had tried wonton soup at many other places, but always got disappointed. However, I prefer more sesame oil and less salty. So I order to go and fix it to my preference. I guess I could bring my brand of sesame oil, ask for less broth and added hot water for less salty taste to enjoy my hot soup there . The BEST, BEST thing is the price is UNREAL. It's only $8.10 a bowl! Every place I go it is about $14 and up, but not the same quality in flavor that I prefer. There is a constant.line and constant flow of people. It is the busiest of all the eateries in the food court (about 12-15 businesses serving food). Located in GW Supermarket food court, it is nothing fancy, not the prettiest /clean looking place i didn't plan to sit down & eat there so that was not a big deal to me. The prices are reasonable. It's an authentic HK fast food place at the food court and most people get their wonton noodles, congee, steamed rice rolls, fried noodles, etc. I got their congee with pork & preserved egg and rice roll with fish fillet. The congee texture and flavor were good and had a lot of preserved egg and shredded pork meat inside. The steamed rice roll with fish fillet was okay, it had a lot of fish fillet in the fillings but the rice roll skins were thick though. It looked bland but tasted good with the sweet soy sauce. If you just wanna grab a cheap and authentic Cantonese-style breakfast or lunch for a to-go, this is a place for you. I would give them 3.5 stars to be fair (I round up to 4 stars). P.S. I asked the lady behind the cash register if they changed new owner. She said no. I didn't want to be nosy and ask why everyone is new so I left it as that. Was watching TikTok and saw their Shrimp and pork wonton soup and decided to get some tonight. And yes, I kept my expectation low, but the wonton definitely exceeded my expectations. They were nicely filled, and the soup was delicious, very comforting on a cold day. Beef chow fun was also pretty good. Would've liked a little bit more sauce with the noodles. We also got there shrimp rice noodle, and their salty fish and chicken fried rice. Both of those we would probably not order again, but would definitely be back for the wonton soup and the chow fun.
