Tried this place twice in two weeks! LOL Both times, good experience. Good food, great flavors, and filling. It reminds me of Kim Kee Noodle House. I like this place cause it's more open space. The Kim Kee in MPK is pretty small. Please note, this place also only accepts cash. Remember to bring cash if you wanna stop by!

We came here for lunch on a weekday to get our Teochew/Chiu Chow noodles fix. We haven't been here since the pandemic. The restaurant used to be Kim Lee before they rebranded. The interior is small and looks old but decently clean. This is a casual noodle eatery spot for the locals. Reasonable price with generous portions. Staffs were warm, friendly, and efficient. The waitress gave us extra soup to go with our leftovers. We usually get the house special rice noodle soup. The soup broth is light and flavorful. It comes with a lot of toppings; shrimps, fish cakes, fish balls, chicken, kidney, and ground pork. There's different types of noodles that you can choose from. The green hot pepper on the table is very fresh and the satay sauce is delicious, they paired well with the noodles. This is a "CASH ONLY" restaurant!

if you are in the 626 area I definely reccomend stopping by here! I feel like this restraunt is such an underrated gem. my family comes here every weekend to get the bo luc lac (lol we get 3 orders each time) and every time we come it always hits. the portions are HUGE, comes with a soup, tomato rice, and beef cubes. The beef cubes are so tasty and so soft and tender, they quite literally melt in your mouth. omg and the rice is actually so yum. I actually am not the biggest fan of rice, but this rice I can eat like everyday and will not get sick of it. the rice is just so tasty and goes so well with the beef. definely reccomend mixing in some satay and eating jt with the beef and rice.

Soup noodle and rice dish restaurant offering a range of cuisine styles from Chiu Chow, Vietnamese to Cantonese. Service is attentive and fast. One of the specialities here is their kidney dish, but I found it needed a bit more flavor in preparation. Noodles bowl sizes are generous.

Plenty of meat and is lite and refreshing

I was in Gardena this afternoon and at first I wanted ribeye steak, then Vietnamese pho and then the pork kidney noodles that I haven't had for awhile so i yelp it in Alhambra because I needed to buy some things close by. From ribeye steak to pork kidney noodles, haha that's funny. Anyway, there were a couple of places that had them but they closed early and this is the only place that is open till 7 pm, when I first walked in, there was nobody inside besides the lady owner sitting at the table and she spoke Cantonese, Mandarin and English. First I spoke Cantonese but then she said something I didn't understand so we spoke English lol. I want the pork kidney noodles with some extra pork kidneys, I didn't know it was one big plate of it. I got the noodles with rice noodles, I don't like the yellow egg noodles. It was good, the broth was lite and refreshing, I think is a chicken broth, I could be wrong. There's only 1 pieces of pork kidney in the whole bowl and it was tough like it was cooked too long and it got chewy. There was a couple of shrimp, some chicken breast pieces and minced pork with beans sprouts. I felt like it was missing something because I had it before at another restaurant. The taste was a little different but still satisfying. The pork kidney strips were great but is a little too oily. There was some cut up lettuce on the bottom of the dish and some ginger with scallions on top of the sliced pork kidneys, I think it was oily because it was poured on top with the soy sauce, is a good flavor but still too oily for me. It reminds me of the days when I would chopped the cabbage and cooked it with garlic and soy sauce with lots of oil, it makes a good side dish when you're poor and living in Santa Monica by the beach lol. The lady was really nice and she doesn't come over to check up on you but is a small restaurant, is ok. Then it got busy, a couple of people came in and she got a couple of to go orders. Is a good environment and the price is fair. There's other restaurants and shops in the plaza too, there's plenty of parking but is tight.

The restaurant was desolate on a Sunday evening, which has been the scene for the past few months. Not that many customers are eating here. I ordered a beef and shrimp soup with vermicelli and egg noodles, it came out fast and tasted decent. However, I did not expect to have to pay $16 for it because on the poster on the wall, the exact thing I ordered was $11. I am confused why there is inaccurate pricing. And they took cash only without telling me beforehand.

The "House Special Noodles" and "Filet Mignon Cubes" are popular items on the menu and recommended. House Special Noodles with soup included on the side were pretty bland by itself for my taste. I added their housemade XO sauce or shacha sauce from the condiment caddy on the table and it was so much better. Their Pan Fried Chives Cake was delicious! Sam's Noodle Station specializes in Chinese regional Chiu-Chow/Teo Chew noodles. Specifically Chiu-Chow- Vietnamese. Noodles and Appetizers are what I like here, but there are other dishes you can try to see what suits your palate. This place has a second location called: Macky Noodles in Monrovia, Ca. CASH ONLY!

A super great option to Kim Ky or Kim Tar. Wonderful hole in the wall that serves Chiu Chow Noodles. The wait goes by uber fast; I promise. Patrons eat and leave. They know the drill. Most patrons (probably 85-90%) that was there were regulars. You can tell because they don't need to read the menu and/or Boss Lady remembers their order. Boss Lady has impressive memory and super efficient. The noodles come out quick and hot. The only thing I would do differently on my next visit would be to skip the 'dry' noodle option. Will return for sure!

Our first time trying Sam's Noodle Station. My mom and I went there on the weekend, and it's located inside a strip mall on Valley in Alhambra. Parking can be difficult coz they have many businesses in the plaza. We both ordered their #1 House Special Rice Noodles, and I picked the mixed noodle with round yellow noodles and rice vermicelli. It had 3 shrimps, some fish balls, chicken meat, pork kidney, etc. It's similar to Kim Ky, but the food quality was not as good as Kim Ky's, and their soup broth was not as flavorful. The shrimps were fresh, though. It was lacking flavor overall.

Beef and tendon wide noodle soup

This beef and tendon wide noodle soup was recommended by the waitress as I didnt know what to order, too many choices. This was really good, and the chef definitely did not skim on the beef tendon.

Diced Filet Mignon with Black Pepper Sauce. Very good.

Came a little late (6:15ish and they close at 7:00) but there were still lots of regulars. Service is quick with a no fuss feeling. Ordered the special noodle that was advertised on the wall for $12.99. Shrimp, pork slices and ground pork. Comes with the yellow noodle/Rice Noodles combo which is unique to the Kim Ky/Sam's Noodle station noodle places. Shrimp were surprisingly large and very fresh. We also ordered the Diced Filet Mignon with Black Pepper Sauce. A little pricier at $18.95 but the steak had a great sear, very tender and portion is generous.

This is still a go-to stop whenever I visit California. The service is so wonderful. When we were there to dine, they were offering a special where you buy four dishes and you get one for free. The green tea iced was free as well. Just so many great deals when you go during the lunch hour. It's a small restaurant but there's plenty of seating. It can get busy during lunch time because everyone is here to eat. The food is still very tasty and delicious. I love the bo luc lac with the red rice. Super tasty and delicious. I've had several other items from their menu from noodle soup to fried turnip cakes. And they've all been delicious.

CASH ONLY!! Came here on a Saturday afternoon and was seated for two right away. The place is clean and the restaurant was slowly getting packed for the lunch rush. I ordered the house special noodles with thick egg noodles and it was pretty good! There is a variety of noodles you can select with your order. Size wise, the house special order came with alot of noodles and meat/shrimp. My uncle detected a big of MSG in our orders which I personally did not mind. Although the kidney side order wasn't too flavorful, I enjoyed it. The kidneys was perfectly cooked and came with plenty of chili, ginger and green onions which paired well. Service wise, our waiter was a kind man who spoke English and Chinese. The waitress on the otherhand was a bit rude. There was a miscommunication between us and her attitude was just very off putting (The miscommunication wasn't even my fault, she was at fault). Parking can get super packed here during lunch hours so I would recommend parking at the 168 Market lot next door and then walking over. For two bowl of noodles + a side order, the price was $41 which is pricey but worth the amount of food we had!

    House special with egg noodles.

When you arrive, be sure to write your party size on the sign-in sheet to secure your spot--there often isn't staff at the door to assist, so you'll need to manage it yourself. We visited after a long day and only had to wait about 30 minutes. Overall, the food was pretty average--or "mid," as the kids say--and I didn't feel it lived up to the hype. Here is a breakdown of what we ordered: * #26 Shanghai Style Chow Mein ($13.99): This was the standout. The noodles are thick, almost udon-style, and it's great comfort food. I would definitely come back just for this dish. * #1 XLB Juicy Pork Dumplings ($9.99): These were just okay. Not bad, but not great, and I'd likely choose somewhere else for dumplings next time. * #16 Spicy Wontons with Pork and Shrimp ($11.99): These didn't "wow" me, though I did enjoy the chili oil. I might order these again. * #62 French Style Beef Tenderloin ($17.99): The meat was very soft, but I've had better versions elsewhere, so this will be a skip for me in the future. * #83 House Special Fish Fillet ($15.99): It was very crispy with flaky fish, but the batter was quite heavy. It was enjoyable at first, but I got tired of it quickly. While the Shanghai Style Chow Mein is worth a revisit, nothing else stood out enough to make this a regular spot for us. It's a 3.5/5 experience, but I probably won't be back anytime soon.

Xiao Long Bao's flavor profile tasted more like steamed dumplings. Beef roll didn't taste as good as I remembered (probably because it had slightly less hoisin sauce), but it was still a good beef roll nonetheless. * Personally G4 Black Pepper Beef Fried Udon ($15.99) was a surprising discovery and an S-tier dish. Basically think of it as beef chow fun, but replace flat noodles with udon and add egg and bell pepper - excellent flavor profile. C3 Pan Fried Pork Bao (6 pieces - $13.00) were comparable to the ones from Kang Kang Food Court. 4.5 stars for the food with 4 items enough to feed 3 to 4 adults. I would say their noodle dishes like Beef Noodle Soup / Black Pepper Beef Fried Udon / Fujian Style Fried Vermicelli are slightly better than their dumpling dishes. Bump it up to 5-star for the excellent service. P.S. - There's another new location in Diamond Bar.

He quoted a 10-20 minute wait which didn't seem possible, but we took a chance and placed our name on the waitlist. I love the tablets that most restaurants in SGV use. It's so efficient! The host handed us a laminated menu and an order form after we checked in so we could figure out what we wanted even before we sat down. They get high marks for efficiency! Within 10 minutes, we were called to our waiting table. They are a well oiled machine! As soon as a party leaves, a team of 3 smiling staff converge on the table to clear the dishes, clean the table and re-set for the next patrons. We ordered our drinks and a Popcorn Chicken appetizer. Hubby says this is the best popcorn chicken he's had to date, and he's a bit of a snob! No dipping sauces needed. He ordered "No Spicy" and they brought chili powder on the side. They fried what I believe was fresh basil with the chicken and it was so tasty, I would request extra next time! It's well seasoned and crispy. The portion is easily generous enough to share with 4 or more people. Their 0% Sugar Green Tea is served icy cold in a huge beer stein, and is so refreshing! A perfect accompaniment to the meal. It comes in many flavors as well but I didn't want anything sweet. We shared an order of their Hot Oil Shrimp, Pork & Cabbage wontons in a bowl. Delicious, but if you're not a heat seeker don't forget to request it "mild". Now for what I considered the star of the table, their House Special Beef Noodle Soup. This is a dish that I love and am always looking for the best bowl.. and Mr Dragon is high up there. Don't come at me, but we had heard the hype about Corner Beef Noodle House and tried theirs last year. In an evening without a crowd we were virtually ignored when we walked in and I had to accost someone to seat us. The soup wasn't nearly as good as Mr Dragon, and their service couldn't compare. I'll have to give them one more chance. There was no room for improvement at Mr Dragon Noodle House. Beefy broth, tender chunks of beef and perfectly bouncy noodles. Yum!

Came to HK Cafe for dinner again and had a really good experience. This is one of those places I…read moreenjoy coming back to when I'm craving some good Hong Kong-style comfort food. The food was great as usual. Everything came out hot and fresh, portions were good, and the flavors were on point. Nothing overly fancy, just solid HK cafe food that hits the spot. Sometimes that's exactly what you want for dinner! Service was excellent too. Everyone was friendly and attentive, and we were well cared for throughout the meal. Really appreciate good service, especially when a restaurant is busy. The surprise of the night was the pineapple bun with butter keychain! I wasn't expecting that at all. It looks like a 菠蘿油 and is actually pretty cute. The little piece of "butter" inside makes it even better. Definitely a fun little souvenir for anyone who grew up eating it or just loves it. I have to admit, seeing that little pineapple bun keychain put a smile on my face. It's such a small thing, but it made this dinner visit a little more memorable. Overall, another very satisfying meal at HK Cafe. Good food, excellent service, and now I even went home with a mini 菠蘿油 hanging on my keychain. Can't complain about that! Will definitely be back again when the HK Cafe craving hits.

Went on a Wednesday around 3 PM and it was pretty empty, so we had no trouble getting a table…read more There's plenty of seating inside, and there's also a parking structure nearby where you can park for free for up to 4 hours, which is always a huge plus! Everything we ordered was really good, and the portions were pretty generous. My favorite was definitely the New York Steak with Black Pepper Sauce. The sauce was SO good--I literally wanted to dip everything in it! The only downside was that the portion of rice was on the smaller side. The fried calamari and chicken wings were both flavorful, salty, and crispy, and the rice rolls were another favorite. They had a nice combination of salty, crispy, and slightly sweet flavors that worked really well together. The decor is also super fun and very on-theme. The restaurant was colorful with so much to look at, and even the music matched the atmosphere. It made the whole experience feel really lively and fun. Overall, I really enjoyed Hong Kong Cafe! Good food, generous portions, fun atmosphere, and easy parking. I'd definitely come back, especially for that black pepper sauce!
