My parent has been buying their chow fun here for years. Its quick, fast, and cheap. It's also really yummy. I also recently try buying their wonton noodle soup. It's $5 and it's not bad. You get enough noodles and 5 big wontons, I believe. You can also upgrade to the larger side for a buck. It tasted great during this cold weather. They also sell rice rolls, fried rice, and porridge. Wasn't difficult to communicate, but if your not familiar with Chinese noodle dishes, good luck. I am just familiar enough, but wish I could have asked a few questions. For example, I went for the Beef stew ($6.30 after tax) vs beef "stripe" (assuming tripe) to be safe. Happily for me, had a mix of beef, beef tendon and some other fatty parts. I like that but if you didn't expect it, I think some would have issues. I like the condiments too. Jalapeños in soy is my fave, but they also had sriracha and chili oil. I used all three. Not bad at all for a food court in a supermarket, off San Gabriel Blvd and Garvey. I ordered this mi xao which is fried thin egg noodles and broccolini with beef. It's topped off with gravy and is delicious if you eat it while it's fresh and crisp. Once the gravy soaks longer, then it tastes soggy and not as great, but still inexpensive for 5-7$. A very reasonable portion. Also tried the wonton noodle soup is what they are known for and its decent. I substituted for fish balls and it's good. My favorite wonton soup ever. It's a small place inside a food court. They are closed on Wednesdays so make sure you don't drive there on that day. I order the same thing every time. My only gripe is the stinginess of giving out the chili oil. I'll order over 100 dollars worth of food and they seem a bit touchy about asking for more than a couple of cups. I found this place on Yelp when I searched up "Beef Chow fun With Gravy" omg I don't know any other place that makes it near me and this food court has two restaurants that make that plate and one of them is Harlan's kitchen. Noodles on the bottoms, Chinese Broccoli it's cooked to perfection not too crunchy but not mushy . The meat is bomb you have to take my word I'm super picky when it comes to meat and this one is tender and juicy and cut into two inch bites. The gravy is so delicious and the portion is enough for two . Also the ladies there are so sweet they always ask if I need chopsticks or forks and make sure I don't forget my hot sauce she usually points it out even when they're super busy. I'm not sure how to ask tho if they can add carrots or mushrooms to my noodles as well as the Chinese broccoli. The dumplings and wontons were decent but had no savory flavor- it tasted a bit stale and had hardly any shrimp aroma- meaning either there was no shrimp or the shrimp was old and tasteless. I've had better chow fun at other restaurants in the same cafeteria; the one I had here was super salty but it didn't really bring out the flavor of the gravy or noodles... every dish felt like it was lacking something... The portions are not small and the quality of the food is very good. The plates and bowls of food satisfy any craving appetite. We have tried their wonton-noodle soup and rice congee. Both tasted very good and we were very satisfied. The prices were very affordable, each under $8.00. Just be aware, none of the eateries at this food court accept credit cards, only cash. If you're in the area and want a quick bite, but don't know what to eat-- this is the place to go to! Harlam's Kitchen is actually one of the restaurants in a big Asian food court. There are many choices/ restaurants, but if you want Chinese food, I would recommend this place. It's like $5.50 for a bowl of Wonton Noodle Soup. It's not a hugee portion, but it's a decent amount for the price that you pay for! They cook it after you take your order and it's usually not too long of a wait depending on what you order. For fried noodle dishes, it could take at least 10-15 minutes, but for the noodle soups, it takes from 3-10 minutes. The lovely cashier takes down your order. You pay and wait for your food. Your food will come in plastic bowls/plates on a tray because as I said, it's a food court and that means after you get your food, you can sit anywhere you'd like. My only complaint is that this entire food court isn't the cleanest and the vendors all look a bit shabby because the building is kinda old, so I don't think their kitchen is the cleanesttt either. However, this is me judging from the outside looking in. I think they have grade A, so I could be wrong. In addition, not everyone who takes order is 100% fluent in English and there aren't numbers to be called. You pretty much have to wait there until they wave you over/ tell you it's ready. Parking in the plaza can be pretty hard to find on the weekends as it gets packed, but there's also street parking! If you go on weekdays, there's hardly that many cars. Quick service.
