I wanted to try their cheesecakes. They are tasty but the customer service gave me pause. At first, a lovely young woman was taking orders and getting the slices. Then, an older lady started handling the customers and she was dry and acted like she was over it. She was not inviting or nice at all and got spoke with a tinge of resentment and irritation in her tone. Like...why? Stay in the back. It's not flattering for business. Banana pie slice had old bananas in it. I don't like black bananas unless I am enjoying banana bread but for smoothies, pies, pudding...i prefer fresh. The lemon cheesecake was nice. The turtle slice was delish. I will say, these cheesecakes remind me of what Cheesecake Factory has going on. I do not know if I will return. I prefer to deal with friendlier people. Stopped by this location because I was told they have one of the best cheesecakes around. I purchased two flavors by the slice which was $9 a slice. You have the option to purchase a whole cheesecake as well and price is based on the size. I ordered the banana cheesecake and the French vanilla cheesecake. The cheesecake was delicious it was creamy and rich and the crust was the best part. Only thing I didn't like was the tart of the banana which I suspect came from adding lemon juice on the bananas to keep them from browning. Other than that, I loved it. My friend ordered the sweet potato cheesecake and said it was transcending and one of the best cheesecakes she's had. She mentioned the cheesecake had the right amount of sweet and tart and she loved the crust but prefers a more crunchier texture. The space is small so there's no seating to enjoy your food so it will be to go. The staff was nice and welcoming which I appreciate. Only thing I would add as far as ordering is the ability to order online and also having to go boxes (not a gift box) to help with transport because they provide you a paper plate with saran wrap and that isn't too great for transport when you purchase more than one slice. This place is a fantastic shop to get cheesecake. They sell in slices or whole cakes with a wide variety of flavors. I came on Saturday for my second visit to this establishment. The shop is located in a narrow strip with limited parking next to an Ethiopian restaurant (which I recommend despite not being my style). Upon entering, there is a counter with a blackboard behind it which lists the flavors for WHOLE tin cheesecake orders. Over to the right is some memorial decorations along with a white board listing SLICE flavor availability. Srrvice was nice, friendly, and swift. This visit I ordered the turtle slice but last time I had the golden oreo slice. The golden oreo slice I had in the past was very creamy and rich with flecks of golden oreo and a nice oreo graham shell. The turtle slice was dense, heavy, and rich with a brownie in the midst of the cake and slattered with chocolate and caramel. The actual cheesecake content is creamier than traditional cheesecake. Hands down the best cheesecakes ever!! Praline is the most popular and for good reason. Absolutely decadent and delicious. Sweet potato was also good. I got both for different holiday events and they were a hit with everyone! They sell whole cheesecakes in 3 different sizes but they also have daily slices as well. A slice is $9, the smallest pie is $35 so it's much cheaper to do a whole pie. The slices come on a cheap plastic plate wrapped in Saran Wrap, like cafeteria style. The slices I've tried so far: Golden Oreo: tastes like a regular cheesecake tbh. Strawberries and cream: I'm pretty sure they made a mistake and gave me a plain slice because there was absolutely no indication of strawberry visually or taste wise either. There's no question it is expensive per slice so I usually end up buying a whole pie and eating half of it. Unfortunately the cost of everything has doubled and there are a small business so they don't get anything discounted with the expenses that they have they either charge the prices or go out of business. It's a small, run down hole in the wall type place that's falling apart and covered in old stains. There's no seating and no atmosphere. I also didn't see a health inspection letter in the window. Just saying. The slices were 9$ each, which is too expensive for the small slice you get. The lady handing the slices to you seems unhappy that you're there and unhappy that she's there. **May 2024: Weekday Late Afternoon Visit** I was looking for a dessert spot in Inglewood and remembered bookmarking Harriets! I very vaguely remembered it being featured on the Food Network's "The Best Thing I Ever Ate: That I'm Thankful For" episode highlighting the Sweet Potato Cheesecake. I can't believe I had this bookmarked since grad school and am only now checking that off my list - oy! but better late than never lol My friend and I arrived around 5pm on a Thursday and parked right in front. There's only one row of parking and it's nested between some other soulful restaurants. When we entered we saw a white board at the side of the shop with 18 flavors. All slices were $9 each. If you want a 8 inch pie it's $35, and the 10 inch is $45. They accept credit card. Since I visited with my friend we decided to each grab a slice and share. We obviously picked the Sweet Potatoe and the cashier said the Banana Pudding was her favorite so we picked that as well. The cashier went to the back and shortly afterward the cashier gave us a plate of each sliced wrapped up and two forks. We ate at the counter and they indeed were really great cheesecakes! Here are my evaluations Sweet Potato Cheesecake - I really liked the candied pecan garish. It just added a really nice bite to the sour cream spread and smooth cheesecake filling. The cheesecake was not dense at all and though it was a tasty I think I just prefer a sweet pie versus a starchy one. Banana Pudding: This was basically all of my favorite things in cheesecake form. It's definitely sweeter than the sweet potato one, but I preferred it as it tasted more familiar. Robyn - Harriet's daughter came out as we enjoyed the slices and told us to come back and try her favorite - apple spice. I appreciate the service here. It feels like you're ordering from a close family friend or a cousin. It's a no frills situation with only a counter to order your cheesecake. The employee recommended the praline cheesecake and it was perfect. Just the right amount of sweet. We also tried one of the fruit ones and I wasn't really a fan. She said they use fresh fruit but it was almost like the fruit didn't quite set so it was really loose. Also, these cheesecakes are very, very rich.
