Two of my best friends and I all have birthdays in November, so we decided to celebrate with a big group at Harry & Izzy's! It was THE BEST time. Our waiter was so fun and nice. We are a younger group and he was able to joke around with us and the whole experience was a blast. Now the food.... WOW. I wish my stomach could hold an infinite amount of food because I didn't want to stop eating. We all got different things which also made the experience fun. A couple people got the signature shrimp cocktail and loved it. Personally, it's a little spicy for me so I got the crab beignets and I ate them all myself. Absolutely delicious. For the main, I got the filet sliders as my meal and they were so good. I think when I go back I will try and actual steak but the sliders were so good! Highly recommend. A spin off of Indy's iconic St Elmo Steakhouse, you can find familiar shrimp cocktail, steaks, etc. here, and quite a bit more variety. It's kind of less fancy, but my husband and I love getting the prime rib pizza and prime rib sandwich! The steaks are still top notch. Sometimes for a lighter lunch, I like to get the burrata salad and add a protein...makes a treat that's a little less hefty. If you are not full (or ... since that's unlikely... if you just want to push it) the brownie is an amazing dessert! The dining room is more open air and well lit vs it's cozy dark walled parent restaurant. Still gives you the feel of upscale in a slightly more modern, but still classic way! The bar menu rocks! They have a great list of traditional spirits, and quite a few special batches available. It's fun to try bourbon and whiskey you may not buy a bottle of at home. Same with wines! They have a good list of wine to go with your steak! They also have some great signature cocktails! I've always loved their mule and obviously the St Elmo Cola. Now that you can buy the bottle, I still suggest you try the cola at one of the family of restaurants...so good. I could go on about additional menu items that are delicious - calamari, wedge salad, bacon side, green beans side, etc. - but you can just remember everything is great and you'll be good to go! For parking, I love to snag a spot in the mall parking (enter off of Georgia St.) and take the escalators up to the "back door". For up to 3 hours, it's $3 usually...you can't beat that. If you're doing anything else downtown, the prices are reasonable as you stay for longer (max out at $24 for 24 hours) and it's centrally located! read more

Before going to the Indy Eleven game Theresa and Joe suggested we eat here. I recently found out I was gluten sensitive and they had nothing but great things to say about the gluten free menu. Harry and Izzy's take food allergies very seriously and really accommodate people. I was very impressed! It was great to have a gluten free menu and not have to question what I could eat. I had the delicious bacon appetizer, a wedge salad and the pork chop as my main course. The wedge salad is the BEST I've ever had! I could eat it everyday! Really wonderful dinner here. Tried the famous st Elmo shrimp cocktail and wow was it strong? But I couldn't stay out of it, delicious!! The wedge salad was the best I've ever had. My entree was a lobster pasta and it was delicious as well. Would definitely return. My only complaint was the location we sat in, it was upstairs in a small room packed FULL of people and children. If I could give 10 stars I would for this restaurant!! I messaged Harry & Izzy's yesterday morning with questions regarding what would be safe to order here with my dairy allergy. They responded promptly within 30mins & spoke with their executive and sous chef to get a detailed list together of all the food items I could choose from. They provided me with a lengthy detailed list from steaks, to salads, to sandwiches & salad dressings. This type of customer service is the type of customer service every restaurant should have! Living as a person with a food allergy, dining out can be tough and requiring the waiter/waitress to go back and forth double checking on things you can order. It's never a fun experience. But dining in here, I felt "normal" with confidently ordering my dinner entree. Jordan was our waiter and he was phenomenal! He was very knowledgeable on how the steaks are cooked, drink beverages and all around a great personality. We really enjoyed him! For only working there for 3 months, he's great and super funny! I ordered the Decoy by Duckhorn Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignon wine to pair with my Ribeye & Roasted Asparagus. Oh my gosh! Everything was so incredibly delicious and this wine paired so well with my Ribeye. I ordered my Ribeye medium and it was so juicy, tender and literally melted in my mouth. Also- huge bonus points to a manager coming to our table to offer to bring rolls without butter for me to enjoy prior to our dinner coming out. She even prepared a plate of olive oil and vinaigrette for me to dip the bread in. These little details seriously made me feel so special and I love that about the whole restaurant experience here! I cannot recommend Harry & Izzy's enough! It is worth the money for the high quality foods and dining in experience. Date night ruined by nasty food. The waiter Andrew was honestly the best part of the experience. The food had to be sent back because they made the steak medium well and it was dripping blood. We requested our steaks be well done. The food was brought back out by the manager, Sarah, who was very pleasant, however, the food wasn't so pleasant. It was very bland. Harry & Izzy's is an Indianapolis staple. I've been many times over my years of living here and always have a pleasant experience. While I don't think the food is as amazing as everyone claims it is, I still think it's good and we always have top-notch service. Today, I had the French Onion Soup for the first time, which was really tasty. I've had the Alfredo Pasta a few times, including for my lunch, but it wasn't as good as usual. Seems like they changed the type of noodles and sauce. Sad :-( Overall, I would recommend for sure. It's expensive, but you know what you're getting into. My coworker and I tried this place while in town for a conference. We made reservations and we're seated promptly. It was nice enough to sit outside and they accommodated our request! One thing I really liked is that several things on the menu can be ordered half size. For example, the house salad, several desserts, and they will do a half portion of mashed potatoes and green beans if you can choose just one. Our waiter was incredibly helpful and gave great suggestions. I got the shrimp cocktail w the regular sauce and it was fabulous! Not too spicy. Just right. Everything was great until the steaks were served. It came out extremely well done and had to be returned. They brought out a replacement that was blue rare (I ordered medium). They took it back to cook it longer for it to come out well done once again. Extremely frustrating. On a recent visit, Sunday (08/28/23) around noon my family made reservations to celebrate the milestone 90th birthday for our matriarch. A few days before our visit, we inquired about securing a private room for our party of 14 - 16 guests. The manager indicated that there were no private rooms available, however she could seat us at three tables. Upon arrival, we were told that we would have to wait until all in the party were present. Admittedly, there was a family of 6 who was running late. Throughout our wait, we noticed the female manager's disparaging stares toward us ...yet we remained as that we had already entered the lobby with our 90 year old matriarch who required assistance and the use of a walker. When all were present, we were escorted to the rear of the restaurant. Along the way, we noticed private rooms that were unoccupied with the exception of one that housed a small family of no more that 4 people. It was both tiring and difficult for the 90 year old to navigate the course! Upon arrival to the seating area, we were ordered to fill every seat at the first table before filling the subsequent table. Although only 1 seat remained unoccupied and several members of our party remained standing, we were ordered not to advance to the other table until the unfilled seat was occupied! We were aware that this foolishness was at the behest of the female manager. Did I mentioned our promise of three table was miraculously reduced to only two? We bumped elbows while sitting. This would not make for a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. To think that one world treat adults as if they were school children dining in the cafeteria instead of a fine restaurant was deplorable. I suspect racism to be the primary culprit in the manger's decision making! Naturally, we exited and took our party of sixteen elsewhere where we had an enjoyable fine dining experience! We only chose Harry and Izzy based upon previous dining experience over the years. Like another reviewer, I concur that I would not recommend patronizing this restaurant if you want to be treated with dignity, respect, or equality. Not that any of this matters but our party consisted of educated professionals who always behave in an orderly manner! My only question for the restaurant would be are you now under new ownership or management? UPDATE 9/5/2023: Despite the owner indicating that he messaged me to discuss the situation, I have not received any communication from him! read more

We were here with a group to celebrate a 60th birthday. The restaurant sent a complimentary desert which was very good and very thoughtful. The table was very happy with the service. Everyone enjoyed their meals; Filet, Salmon and scallops. Unfortunately, I had the NY Strip which was very tough. I informed our server just so they would know and they were very apologetic and took one of the shrimp cocktails off the bill (unfortunately the discount went on the other couples bill LOL).. Sadly they Missed a birthday reservation but the staff was friendly. Food was burnt TWICE but replaced . This was not the usual situation during the last couple of times I have dined here. Manager tried to fix this by remaking the burnt food and providing a free desert. Sadly this burnt food remains caused a missed reservation on the birthday girls birthday. read more

Great service and they were able to cater to all of my allergies! I'm essentially on an AIP (auto-immune protocol) diet and they were super accommodating. They were able to tell me what spices and oils were in all of the dishes. They even sent over a manager to make sure the kitchen knew what all of my sensitivities were and how strict they were. I ended up getting the Cod and some Roasted Asparagus, I asked if they could both be made with olive oil, salt, and pepper and they were both DELICIOUS! I usually have to settle for blander options when I eat out because of my limitations, but this was SO GOOD! I didn't even have to be jealous of the food my colleagues ordered! Which, by the way, one of them go the Cod done normally and said it was wonderful. We came here on a business dinner and it was amazing! The waiters took real good care of us and the food was so good!! We tried the world famous St Elmo shrimp cocktail. The description says it is spicy, but it is more spicy in the sense of the horseradish. Their shrimp were huge! So good and I am definitely craving it while I am writing this review! Their hot rolls were garlicky and good. I ordered the Izzy Style New York Strip steak. The waiter recommended that we add bleu cheese to soften the cracked pepper on top of the steak. So good! There was so much steak that I couldn't even finish it. The experience was awesome and the food was really good. Check them out if you are in town. read more

Visiting indi on a work trip and this place was highly recommend by multiple people. They all talked about this famous Shrimp Cocktail being really good, and let me tell you this was fabulous. I loved that we were able to sit outside on the patio and the weather was nice and cool. I was actually in town for an event that they have every year called Devour ( similar to restaurant week) Basically a menu worth $30 and you get appetizer, main dish, and desert. It was great!!! By far the shrimp cocktail was amazing it has lots of horseradish, so be careful if you don't like crazy spicy things. It's double just be careful. Oh so good with great service! We went to a wine dinner with a focus on Cakebread wine. The food was absolutely fantastic. The lobster sacchetti, as a starter, was so good that I could have eaten it for a meal; as was the grilled apple salad. But then the grill filet came and it was great too! Unfortunately the server, Doretta I believe was her name, was very rude to my wife when her order was incorrect and acted as if she couldn't be bothered or didn't have the time to deal with the situation.
