Whenever I visit Chicago I love coming here to have some drinks and get a bite. This is a huge restaurant and bar and there's all sorts of cool Chicago sports memorabilia and pictures across the place so it's almost like you are visiting a sports museum!! Last time I came I sat at the bar and was greeted by this really friendly guy named Jessie. He have some great suggestions on drinks but I ultimately settled for a Half Acre on draft. I highly recommend this beer. Jessie was great and kept us entertained while still taking care of several other guests. I had the Veggie Burger and it was delicious. Another great suggestion by our bartender Jessie. This place is definitely worth checking out if you planning on visiting Navy Pier and it is conveniently located at the front of the Pier! If you asked me if I'd rather eat here again or have my next door neighbor remove my toe-nails one at a time with a pair of pliers while he slugs back Miller Lite and listens to Kid Rock, I'd start taking off my shoes. This place is a great restaurant if you're looking for something quick and easy while at the Pier. Like the menu, the food is basic. This place is no different than any chain burger restaurant. My friend ordered the Cajun burger and said it was dry. My other friend ordered the Mac&Cheese Burger and said it was okay. The Mac&Cheese was a box of thin macaroni n cheese dumped between the bun which was messy. I ordered the BBQ Salmon that was rubbery and tasted like it came straight out of a microwave. I didn't complain and ate the coleslaw that came as a side to the entrée. Our waitress was not friendly but our order was correct. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

The Navy Pier is such a fun place to be! It's a great place to spend the day with your loved ones and we had a good time walking around and just soaking in the atmosphere. Harry Caray was an American sportscaster on radio and television. He covered five Major League Baseball teams for over 25 years! So when we saw his tavern, we thought why not and stopped for some lunch. We started our meal with some Jalapeño Hushpuppies (Pepperjack Cheese, Jalapeño, Smoky Remoulade). They were delicious! I love hushpuppies in general but these were perfectly made and tasty. Unfortuntely, that was the only good thing we ate during our meal here. My husband ordered their Smokehouse Burger (Bacon Jam, Smoked Mozzarella, Lettuce,Tomato, Crispy Onion Strings) and I ordered their Santa Fe Salad (Blackened Chicken Breast, Black Beans, Corn, Avocado, Pico de Gallo, Queso Fresco, Chipotle Ranch). The burger wsa overcooked and dry. It tasted like a very mediocre burger and one you could get anywhere. My salad was severely overdressed to the point where it was just dripping dressing. The chicken was also overcooked and dry. We really wanted to enjoy our meal here more since we love baseball and the tavern really was a good tribute to Mr.Caray and baseball. It seemed like it had been frozen and not cooked well enough. First day failure or grim portent of things to come? Minimal saving grace: The fries were pretty good. Cubs fans will probably love the place for the memorabilia. It's seriously wall-to-wall baseball tchotchkes. Photos, signed baseballs, bats, etc. Since it's located right at the entrance of Navy Pier, it will draw its fair share of Cubbie-loving tourists. If you're going for that reason - to be surrounded by baseball stuff in a Disney-fied environment, you'll probably enjoy it. Sat on the patio for lunch and had an enjoyable experience! Our table for 6 had an umbrella and shaded us from the sun. Service was good and she kept the waters and sodas coming! I had the Holy Cow burger with candies bacon and smoked Gouda! It was great - cooked to temp and really rather big! I wasn't able to eat the second half. A few people at the table had Caesar Salads. We stopped in for a quick drink and bite to eat before heading out for the night. The waiter was very patient and helpful as he took time to describe the different drinks on tap. I made sure everyone got something to quench their thirst. The appetizer were great! Harry Caray's uses a different ketchup that is sweeter that that other garbage you find at most restaurants with a 57 on it. I am now craving their ketchup. The spinach artichoke dip was really good. It was accompanied by tasty tortilla chips. I am glad we stopped in tonight and I look forward to returning in the near future. read more

I requested of my server that my salmon NOT be OVERDONE. Yet, indeed it WAS OVERDONE. The salmon was 'fishy' tasting and dry, having been cooked too long despite my request. Yesterday we were looking for a place to experience Chicago before a relaxing game of baseball at US Cellular Park. We decided that A quick trip to Navy Pier may reveal some opportunities as the day was extremely windy and I wanted to experience first hand the power of a windy day in the windy city! Windy)))))) The flags on the pier were straight out and the wind even moved this heavy paper weight! Looking for that new place we walked the pier towards shore and discovered Harry's wide open patio. The day was picture perfect for outdoor dining so we stopped at the relatively empty restaurant. Not a good sign as we were In the dinner hour. The waiter was very informative and the menu was extensive. I decided against a burger after seeing the pulled pork on the menu. Even though it could be referred to as a chain as it has other locations in Chicago, it's food was clearly above average. Everything was fresh and hot. The meal had a great appearance and the BBQ sauce was tasty. The string onions added a unique flavor. Fries were good but I passed on the coleslaw. The outdoor experience added a star to this meal and the service was very fast. That may have been due to the limited customer base at the time but nevertheless....quick. A side note...the table was cleared as soon as the last thing was eaten off the plate. I don't recall a restaurant clearing the table that fast. I liked that! This is a giant sports bar right on Navy pier, so expect it to be incredibly busy and not too adventurous when it comes to food. That being said, it was decent service and I liked my Italian Beef sandwich (the sweet peppers where especially tasty). I will warn you that if you enter from the pier, near the outdoor seating the hostess stand is not very efficient and it resulted in long lines to even get your name on the list. There is another entrance if you want to go inside, it looked pretty backed up too (but you are on Navy Pier so it is to be expected). The bathrooms were clean, but really hard to find. It is like a maze of Harry Caray & Chicago Sports memorabilia in there and it is impossible to find your way in and out! It works for something quick and basic. Prices seemed average. read more

Since I've been to Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse and I truly enjoyed my experience, I thought I'd try the Tavern since I was at Navy Pier. I was not disappointed. I went for a relaxing late lunch. The lunch menu had a good selection of appetizers, salads, meals and desserts. Basically, something for everyone. David, the server, was very accommodating and non-rushed which is really nice. I don't like to be rushed. Vanessa, Manager on duty, was walking around and following up with other patrons including myself. It shows that she enjoys her job. I had ordered the fish and chips. The meal was not greasy (as some other places are) and the portion was larger than expected for the price. I would go back and try more items on the menu. I'll start off by saying when my group and I went, it was pretty late at night ( around 8pm )... but that doesn't excuse everything we experienced. Was sat down at our table and our waitress came over to take our drinks & appetizer order... the appetizers we received were luke warm chicken bites and overcooked calamari. We watched as a table of 8 were seated and their food orders were taken before ours... even after waiting 10minutes for the waitress to even come back to our table. Only reason we actually got our order in is because one of us 3 spoke up and requested to put in our order. Again... we get the food and it is all extremely subpar for how much it cost. Even had to ask for silverware after the food was delivered to the table... Based on our experience... steer clear and save the money. read more

This was a great place to watch a Bears game and enjoy some good food. I had the ribs, side of slaw and fries.. it was all great. When we got there it was quiet and service was attentive. They have great sauces for the rib depending on your palate, spicy and non spicy. Good portion and reasonably prices. I ordered a margarita, it was refreshing... not much to it really. However the fried pickle in their dipping sauce was delicious and a good portion .. so carful no to over indulge otherwise you will spoil your meal. Stay away! The food tasted off the chicken I had in my Cesar salad was grey and dry, more than likely frozen. The Cesar dressing tasted old and rancid. My wife's Italian beef sandwich meat tasted disgusting and off, a weird bitter flavor. Nasty. They took everything off the bill and that was the saving grace.
