I should preface this review by saying that I should have warned my father-in-law to not go to a used car dealerships, let alone a place with terrible reviews like Harry's. Having said that and waiting to accumulate more information on the continuing saga of the car he bought from this place, I think everyone should stear (pun intended) clear of Harry's. Quality should be spelled with a "K". They should be selling car parts, not whole cars because then he might have a decent business. Here's the "brief" chronology of events from my father-in-law's experience so far: 6/24/14 - bought 1999 Hyundai Accent 6/28/14 - car dead, would not start; replaced battery ($130), still nothing. 6/30/14 - towed car ($65) to auto shop; ran diagnostics on the car and needed to replace starter ($399). 7/1/14 - got car back 7/3/14 - car dead again 7/7/14 - towed car ($65) back to auto shop; battery needed recharging and AC belt was missing; fixed entire system ($277). Was also told the struts were shot and would cost $900....had to wait on this. 7/10/14 - got car back 7/18/14 - noticed car acceleration was a bit slow (well, it is a Hyundai, but still) 7/24/14 - more acceleration issue going up a hill 7/26/14 - would hardly run at all 7/28/14 - took car to shop; timing belt was shot and flow system needed work ($530) As you can see the very brief history of this car shows that it should never have been sold in the first place. Granted, many are sold "as is" but if Harry's is delivering "quality" cars then they better do a much more thorough job. Not everyone can be handy on cars these days as it is their livelihood to get them around. Taking advantage of people is horrible and word to the wise is to stay FAR AWAY from Harry's, or maybe it should be "Scary's Kuality Junk". read more

I was in Reno visiting and decided to stop by and look at a truck. I loved the truck, test drove it and then sat down to talk numbers. After going back and forth the final offer from Harry(via cell phone call) was not one I was willing to accept and I was ready to leave. Then another salesman came in (trying to make the sale) and began to present inaccurate information regarding the value of the truck trying to convince me that their offer was legitimate. I held my ground and said no thank you. My final offer was only $750 below the sticker price and they weren't willing to work with that. I have no problem taking my money elsewhere. My first salesman was very nice and not pushy. He was straight to the point and no BS. The second one who came in was basically pointless, dishonest and left a bad taste in my mouth. Although I am upset I did not get the truck, after reading the yelp reviews I realize it may have been a blessing in disguise. The salesman quickly became disinterested in doing any kind of business with me , which is fine if I didn't meet the criteria he needed to sell me a car , however to just not call or make any effort to contact me is not acceptable , I wasted days waking these guys up from their desk just to receive some half assed story of how they were 'helping' me . Honesty is key ! If you don't want the business , just say so . I'm glad it didn't work out now tho , a few days later I found my perfect car at another dealer . Do yourself a favor and NEVER go to these guys for ANYTHING. We bought a car from them and 60 days later the car began to vibrate while on I 80 outside of Trucke when the tire popped i went to change the tire, i noticed the jack handle was missing witch means i had to have it towed 75 miles. once it was up on the tow truck i noticed that the control arm had snaped where it had been welded back together at some point. When we bought the car we asked if the car had ever been wrecked and they said no. When we asked for a carfax report we where told we dont need one, that the car was sound. Clearly misleading us. Jon Amen, the general manager refuses to return calls and when you do finally get a hold of him he is rude and just as misleading as the people he trains. I went in to look at a 2006 PT cruiser with my best friend (who works at ford, I took her to make sure I didn't get ripped off) and Charlie was the salesman we came to. He said he would run my credit and get to me by the end of the day. He took four days to get back to me. I went back to my best friends dealership and she said he didn't even run my credit because he wouldn't make as much money off of me. Do not buy a vehicle from this dealer. Worst experience ever!!! We spent over $15,000 on a truck only to pull out of the lot and have the check engine light come on. We found out that it was missing 2 of the heater relays and all of the wiring. It will not turn over in cold weather or pass smog. It had a fuel leak that cost us $550 to repair. Then we go to register it and found out that they had never non opt it and there were back fees of over $600 owed. We asked specifically if the registration was current, they assured us they were. The truck was last registered an California. Also they took over 3 weeks just to send us the title. We certainly got burned by this dealer. read more

On our test drive we turned on the air conditioning/heater. Glass blew out of the vents into my face. We were told that they would clean it out. NEVER did. This place is a LIE and they lie about everything. There ended up being MAJOR problems with the vehicle and they would not fix anything. Now buying used vehicle is just that but we traded in a perfectly good vehicle for a piece of trash. so bad that it was worth the credit hit to leave it on their doorstep. This place is a horrible dealer that takes advantage of the people just to make a quick sell. My mom went to the dealer and got a new Subaru and my sister and her kids were there too. A worker there told us to wait outside and we knew something was up. She put down a deposit and one that was surprisingly low. The car would push up every time you change gear. The door won't close and sometimes when you put it on drive it won't drive. You push the accelerator and it doesn't go. This place is horrible. Go to another dealer with worth your time such as Internet or car max because this place takes advantage of people. They took advantage of an old lady. read more

They lied to me about a vehicle and after I signed a contract then was told that they suddenly could not verify VIN and they damaged vehicle even more when they put the GPS in it. Now suddenly nobody wants to talk to me and after Sonny sent me to the other location saying I could return the vehicle I got here and nobody is here that can do anything about it. Also wasted time at this dealership with Dennis trying to get a straight answer about my rate and trade in price they wanted to give me $2500 for a vehicle that sells for $6000-9,000 and the didn't want to finance $10000. Wanted me to put down another $2500 which pays in full(their price) for the car I wanted. My interest rate would tac on another 7,000 to the price once I was done paying for the car. I priced, on kelly blue book, some cars off their lot and yes all are over excellent condition by $1000. If you want to waste your time waiting for the BS, then this is your place. Keep driving bye don't stop!!!! Save yourself the headache and frustration. I am beginning to think there is no Harry just a bunch of time wasters using the name Harry to make you think they have a higher power that is going to make you a great deal... They don't have to ask any one they make the deals right there and see how much they can screw you for.... It's all business...use the Internet and word of mouth and tell your friends... Tell Harry's you will not buy from them due to their shady practices and what ever you do do not give them the keys to your car to look at it you will not get them back for hours and the will never give you the car the same day so don't think you will go home happy, they will wear you down until you give in. BUYER BEWARE.....I test drove 2 pieces of crap that were anything but quality....the cars are marked up above their values by thousands...btw, they really encourage their in-house financing which is a LARGE 30%....do the math folks....you will pay triple for a car that probably won't last through your finance period (2-4 years)....also, I did offer cash near asking price for the 1 piece of crap but told the salesman that I would have my mechanic look it over first...once I mentioned this, they did not want my cash....ummmm...wander what the mechanic would have found??? I also overheard 2 sales people talking about Mr. Harry and what a jerk he is to work for...this was not only a slap in the face to Mr. Harry but a redflag for me the potential buyer...it was less then professional...I'm guessing I got lucky and did not buy a piece of crap from Harry's not so quality inventory.....if you do decide to buy here....I BEG you to take a friend with you (mechanic undercover) and if they won't allow you to test drive the car, this will be your first warning to walk away.....all I can say is shame on you Harry's "anything but quality" cars...Karma (Carma) is a you know what. read more

I bought my car from Harry's. Not only did they totally screw me over with the interest and everything, when I bought my car, less than a week later I had to get a new battery, then I discovered a crack in my radiator. Then I had to get a new clutch since the only thing they did was tighten it. This place is a piece of work, not long after I had to get new tires and brakes. You walk on their lot and you can see the battery chargers. I was stupid for buying a car there but I was so desperate. Not to mention the people there are SO RUDE!!! Especially the assistant manager Sarah. I had to pay extra money when I paid my car off, when they gave me a payoff amount the week before. My advice...stay far away from this place. read more

update on the chevy diesel we just bought for 26500.00 blown turbo, found out due to check engine light on as soon as we got home. We are filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau and going to attack their bond. Harry said he worked on the vehicle himself so he is def at fault since he had hands on. I will not stop until they are held accountable for what they've done. My husband waited for years to buy a truck that had all the things he wanted. It took up all our savings and we've been unable to smog and know it's costing us over $2,000. and we've already put $1,000 for all the other things that were wrong. On August 10th i purchased a 08 dodge Cummins for $28950.00 that was supposed to be in excellent condition. While filing paperwork to purchase the vehicle Dave made me feel like he was doing me a huge favor and made me feel that i did not deserve the vehicle. i had to come back to the dealer multiple times because they could not get my paperwork right. They gave my financial company the wrong address and i never got a bill in the mail and almost missed my first payment. When i went to register the truck they did not give me the proper paperwork for that either and the dmv had to call them so i could register the truck. Three months later and 3 thousand miles my check engine light came on. No big deal took it in to find out the truck needs roughly $10,000 in major repairs. After talking with the trusted mechanic i called harry's to see what they had to say. Once again Dave was as rude as ever and told me the truck is my problem he got my money and didn't care what happened. I told them i was taking legal action and i was told they would talk to harry about what was going on. After waiting a week calling everyday to hear from harry i found out he looked at what was going on and didn't care enough to even give me a call back. I am currently going through the dmv and i have a lawyer. This has affected my work and i'm currently paying for a truck that is not worth fixing as well as a rental car. I would strongly suggest not supporting this business i have had and absolutely terrible experience there and would not recommend it to anyone. read more

I bought a vehicle at Harry's back in 2011. From the very beginning I should have known it would be a problem. They WAY overcharged for the vehicle, then WAY overcharged for interest. Overall, they are probably getting about 3x's what the vehicle is actually worth from me. From the very beginning the check engine light was on. I was told that would be taken care of as they have to smog the vehicle in order to sell it. All they did was reset the engine, smog it (probably thru some shady place they have a deal with) and gave it back to me. Within the first 2 weeks, the check engine light came back on twice. Both times I brought the vehicle back in and was told it was fixed. Seemed like the third time I brought it in they might have actually fixed it, but less than 2 months later and BOOM, it's right back on again!!! The check engine light has been on ever since. I recently fell on rough times and got behind in my payments. I did make payments as often as possible. They came and repo'ed my car without a phone call or any notification, even though they knew what was going on with me. When first speaking to them, I was told one payment could be deferred and she would see if we could defer two payments by speaking to Harry. After a whole day with no return phone call and no answers to my call, she takes ALL PREVIOUS AGREEMENTS BACK and says no, the entire amount has to be paid, no deals. EXTREMELY unprofessional. And the fact that I have been paying on this broken, overpriced vehicle faithfully for 18 months means nothing to these people just appalls me. I don't know how they can get off calling themselves a BUSINESS at all. "Wow, would have been 3rd time..." When I was 19, I purchased a 1974 Firebird from Harry's lot. I made a couple of payments, and then returned with full balance to pay the vehicle completely off. I then returned in 2004, and put a grand down on a 1994 Firehawk, which I also in return returned the following week and paid off with $6700. Great cars, both of them. Now, I rewritten to Harry's lot to put down $500 with plans of paying off an almost 10 year old vehicle again with an additional $7000. And they tell me they don't have that kind of room to make a deal like that happen? Makes me wonder how Harry would feel about this repeat business track record? Each time I tried to tell the current general manager that I am a repeat customer, he simply talked over me, and ignored what I was trying to tell him. I will take the short trip over the hill to Sacramento and purchase the same vehicle at the price I was going to give to Harry's lot out of shear principal. I apologize, Harry. read more

In a nutshell: Go elsewhere. These guys are heartless animals with no professionalism and will steal right from under your nose. How they get away with it is baffling. My story: My old trusty truck of 5 1/2 years finally gave up its ghost and at a bad time. I needed a new vehicle. The car: An 05 Subaru WRX. My dream car actually. I knew darn well that that car was made for. Abusive street racers and unfortunately, this car fell into that stereotype. CEL (cylinder misfire), horrible engine sputter, some cheap damaging mods, bent aftermarket rims, damage underside, different headlights, tail light out. All issues noted, the dealer refused to do any work to the car let alone add some gas (empty). The experience: I had a (self proclaimed) 'experienced' friend with me that caved to every trick the dealer had and let them know all of my weaknesses such as: desperate for a new vehicle, my dream car and I had a lot of money. I was screwed from the start. The dealer proceeded to not even care about the car and immediately (boldly I might add) jumped into starting the paperwork and refusing me any information that was my right. The dealer was very aggressive and massively disrespectful. They tried their best to make me feel like I should be lucky to even so much as test drive the vehicle. I'm a timid and respectful person so whenever they belittled me, I caved. I was taken into a back room to see this "Dennis" person who was trying everything in his power to get me an in-house deal by talking to "Harry" on his cell phone. He boldly told me that I was to be grateful that I even made it into that room. They made me a deal and it was outrageous. The paperwork continued despite the issues I kept presenting which were blatantly ignored and caused distractions. What was I to do? He was right, my credit wasn't great and I loved the car. I reluctantly continued. I received the carfax report and it didn't seem bad at all before I signed the final papers. I later got an actual carfax report after and found out their version was HIGHLY modified. The car had been in SEVERAL accidents and violations which ended up at an auction in Arizona. Wow.... Me: "Why would this moron go through with this?" you ask? Well, I don't really have any good excuses. I'm an impatient fool but in my defense, I am highly inexperienced when it comes to purchasing vehicles and try my best to avoid confrontation. They continually slung mud at my character if I had any issues with the deal whatsoever and made me feel inadequate. I will say that I am lot stronger from this experience and will never allow this to happen again. Summary: It truly saddens me that they know there are a lot of people out there like me that will be easily snared into this legitimate robbery successfully. Sure, these reviews might deter people from dealing with them in the future but what's going to stop them from just changing the name of their company and continuing these heinous acts against good human nature? Harry's "Quality" Cars is liable for false advertising just by their name. Within 2 weeks of buying a used vehicle, the engine blew. The price we paid for the repairs resulted in us paying twice as much for the vehicle. Funny, the salewoman spent so much time harrassing us on the phone to make sure we had included them on our insurance coverage within 24 hours of taking it off the lot. Where were they when it came to pay for the new engine? No where near the phone to return our calls. Buyer beware! read more

I got a 02 Saturn from them my check engine light came on 5 days later past the grace period to return it! Then I tried to get it into the shop so the warranty could cover whatever needed to be fixed, they never called me back and every time I would call they told me no one from the shop was there n leaving a not would probably get lost or something so try n call back. This happened till my warranty ran out. So I started to Fix it myself, I had a full tun up done n the mechanic was amazed at how log it had been since the car had one done harrys should have done one I guess they didn't think it was important. I have had to fix my c v joints replace the brakes and fixed the entire front end of my car. Now that Iv put 500 in parts into my car , I'm lucky enough to have some to do labor for free. I still have about 14 different problems such as the Cadillac converter going out problems with my sensors and a wide range of electronically and mechanical issues. I have had the car a year and even if I was the worst car owner in the history of the planet I could not do that much damage to the car. It is not safe for me to drive back and forth from my home since I live in fernley and work is sparks. If I was looking to buy a new car it would not be from these guys they do not care about anything but getting there money. Do not buy a car here. This company is extremely unprofessional and they do not have your best interests in mind. I purchased a car here and it needed a new alternator. They knew the car made weird noises but it didn't make them when I did the test drive. I took the car right back to them and their mechanics had the car for a week and all they managed to do was empty my gas tank and change a belt. Of course this didn't fix the problem. I had to find someone else to fix it and Harry's refused to help out in any way. They sware that the belt was the problem to this day! Also, when I purchsed the car they gave me a warranty for 90 days or 3000 miles and this warranty covered only about 40% of the cost required to fix this. This was my first car purchase from a dealer... live and learn I guess. :( Other than that the car has proven to be a good car. I don't understand what business wouldn't want to make their customer happy especially when they were well aware of the problem when they sold it to me! read more

First off, I really wish that I had read the reviews before I bought my car here. Yesterday, my husband and I purchased a car from these extremely unprofessional people. The car that we came FROM TRUCKEE to look at was posted online for $10,999. Upon arrival, we had a pleaseant test drive and easy process getting the paperwork going with the saleaman (George). Then, the time comes for us to meet wiith the loan officer(Dennis) and we sit down in his office. He starts out by telling us that "Harry" had just fired the interent pricers because they were putting up incorrect prices. He then proceeded to tell us that "Harry" said there was no way that he was going to sell us the car we had just wasted a whole day on for the price listed on the internet. So, just a disclaimer, THIS COMPANY DOES NOT HONOR THEIR ONLINE PRICES. "HARRY'' IS A DISHONEST AND GREEDY THIEF! The loan officer made us wait over 2 hours, saying that he could make the situation right by us. All the time he was on his cell phone making personal calls and smoking a pack of cigarettes. When we finally got an answer from the bank, his idea was RAISING our APR and down payment! Outrageous. After dealing with tons of bull, we finally were able to come to an agreement. (Why we stayed I will never understand) He began to write up our contract and I mentioned that the check engine light was on, and that I wanted that checked before I drove off the lot because it would not pass smog with it on. They told me that they didnt have anyone that could do it then, so I would have to bring it back. They wrote it in the paperwork that they were responsible for inspecting it, now it isnt even 24 hours later and the check engine light is flashing and the whole car is rumbling horribly. I am calling first thing tomorrow and demanding that they see my car, although they are such a bunch of unprofessional a**holes, I highly doubt they will honor the contract without having to be taken to court, which I hav no problem with doing and I sense it might come down that. I'd honestly give this business negative stars if possible. I bought a 1999 Honda Passport back in January and insisted a mechanic look at before I purchase it so it wouldn't break down on me, maybe a half hour later they claimed someone came and looked at it and cleared it. 5 days later it over heated and basically died. For a week they told me it was my fault and that they couldn't do anything about it until I threaten to take the situation to the DMV and have them fined, then they towed my car. Then they threw away all my belongings in the car the day it was towed to their business because I was under the impression they were going to fix the vehicle so I couldn't get any of my stuff back, and instead they gave me my current ugly little Toyota. They wanted me to put ANOTHER down payment on that car when I already put a down payment on the previous car and spent nearly $1,000 trying to fix it myself. Every month when I go in to make my payment it's a hassle with one sales person in particular who talks to me like I'm worthless and tells me that he doesn't want to deal with my teenage attitude when I retaliate every time he talks down to me or insults me because of my young age. Not only this but I originally started off at the Harry's on Kietzke, then the woman there that I bought the passport from told me I had to start going to the Harry's off South Virginia and that she was no longer involved with me and I needed to stop wasting her time and talk to someone else when I wasn't given any information about having to talk to another sales person from the other store. Save yourself the headache and buy a car elsewhere. I bought a car and with in months I was having to pay for major repairs. The clutch went out, they tired to fix the broken radiator with a glue and it went out along with the hoses, the ac went out, and all the windows stopped working. I was a first time buyer and they took full advantage of that. I was told that I needed to have full coverage insurance which I got. My deductible is $1000 and it hab been the exact same insurance that I got 2.5 years ago when I bought the car. Now all of a sudden my decuctable needs to be $500 which they told me on a Friday at 2:30. The woman from Harry's informed me that if my insurance was not changed by 4:30 that same day my car would be repossessed. Not only are my payments through the roof and I'm constantly having to repair the car, now 2.5 years later I have to get my insurance doubled?? Doesn't seem right and I have file disputes with the DMV as well as the BBB. This dealership has been nothing but a pain and I wish I would have done more research on them before buying a car from Harry's. There are many other reputable dealerships in Reno that won't put you through a horrible experience like they do to so many people. EVERYONE WITH COMPLAINTS NEEDS TO FILE A DISPUTE AGAINTS HARRY'S WITH THE BBB!!!! This place has an A rating which is so misleading and can be changed if they get enough complaints against them.
