I've tried quite a few izakayas around Buena Park and the surrounding area, and Izakaya Ichie has…read moredefinitely become one of my favorites. There are several good options nearby, but Ichie has something that really stands out to me--it has a great balance of food quality, atmosphere, variety, and overall experience. The food was really good and there was a lot more variety than I expected. The mentaiko cream udon was probably my favorite--creamy, flavorful, and really satisfying. The yakitori platter was also great, and the sushi and sashimi were fresh and nicely presented. Portions are generous enough that it's easy to order several things and share with the table. I also really like the atmosphere here. It has that cozy izakaya feel but with a modern, fun look. The lighting and decor give the place a nice vibe, especially at night. It's casual enough for a regular dinner but still feels special enough for a date, birthday, or night out with friends. Compared with some of the other izakayas nearby, I feel like Ichie gives you a little bit of everything. Some places may specialize more in traditional dishes, while others might have a stronger bar atmosphere, but Ichie does a really nice job combining Japanese izakaya food with creative dishes and a fun dining experience. The service was also friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. I especially like the little service wand at the table--it's a small thing, but it makes getting someone's attention easy and adds a fun touch to the experience. Overall, I think Izakaya Ichie is a great addition to the Buena Park food scene. If you're looking for a place with good food, generous portions, a cool atmosphere, and a good selection of things to try, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a shot. I'll definitely be coming back! Check it out yourself!

It can get pretty noisy inside during busy hours, and the food may take a little longer to come out when it's crowded. It's not really a traditional Japanese izakaya atmosphere, but it has a modern vibe, good food, and a casual setting that's perfect for a relaxed meal or drinks with friends.

We had to go to Ross and this place Tokyo Bites is in the same plaza around the corner from Ross…read moreStore. It was fairly early so the place was quiet and lots of available seating. At first I thought it was a fast food style, order at the counter and wait for your order to be ready, but it was actually a casual sit down restaurant. The lovely lady took our order when we were ready. They offer a variety of plates and combo plates which includes California roll and gyoza. They have a but two rolls and get one free special which is what I went with. They have a variety of sushi rolls to choose from. They have no rice rolls and several styles of specialty rolls. They even have ramen or udon noodle soups. The service was attentive enough to not feel forgotten. She checked on us a few times and made sure our water was replenished. Pleasantly surprised about this place. Nowhere a high end Japanese restaurant, but very sufficient enough for a simple lunch.

I decided to try this place because of the giant sign outside advertising "Buy Any Two Rolls, Get…read moreOne Free." When I arrived around 12:30 p.m. on a Saturday, the restaurant was relatively clean and completely empty. The tables looked fairly new and had a simple, utilitarian style. I walked up to the counter and asked how the promotion worked. The owner pointed out the rolls on the menu and asked whether I was dining in or ordering to go. After telling her I was dining in, I looked over the menu. Since I don't eat much rice, I was immediately drawn to the three no-rice rolls, which were $16 each. The specialty rolls also looked good and were priced between $16 and $19. I asked to order three of the no-rice rolls using the promotion. That's when the owner told me those rolls were not included. The sign outside says "any two rolls," yet apparently there are exclusions that aren't disclosed. Since the no-rice rolls are in the same price range as the specialty rolls, I asked why they were excluded. The owner didn't offer any explanation--she simply said no, then walked away from the register and back into the kitchen. I found that interaction disrespectful and a clear indication that they weren't interested in earning my business. Customer service matters, and this experience left a very negative impression. I recommend choosing one of the many other restaurants in the area that value friendly, transparent service. Advertising a promotion as applying to "any" rolls while excluding certain items without clearly stating that feels misleading.
